My father brought me here via a long ride through the desert when I was a young kid learning to ride. I thought it was awesome that my dad could navigate that far without a map. These days I ride over with my buddies and it's usually a short lunch ride for some good burgers and soda. The food is good and the people are nice. I would like to start by saying that this place is well worth the ride. I was introduced to "The Slash" over two years ago when I went camping with a couple of friends. We usually go ride our dirt bikes out in Victorville, off the 15 south on Hodge road. If that's where you are camping, you want to take Hodge road all the way down to the power lines. Make a left at the power lines and follow them all the way down to the dead end and you will be able to see the ranch from there. Just make sure to stick with the power lines. On one of my first rides out there, my friend mentioned to me that there is a bar out in the middle of nowhere. They serve cold beer and good food. At that moment, I thought to myself, "what better than a cold beer and good food after a long day of riding..." That's how my addiction to Slash X started. The food: You must order the onion rings because they're pure bliss and you also need to order a basket of Cajun fries. Let me tell you, these are some of the best fries I've ever had in my life. They have the perfect blend of every spice. Your mouth will water by just thinking of them. Hamburgers.... well you can't go wrong with that. They make a decent hamburger and it's a mouthful. You will not be disappointed. Try to avoid this place on long holiday weekends. I can almost guarantee that it will be super packed. The atmosphere is friendly, people are usually pretty mellow and they even have a pool table. Service may be a little slow when the place is overly crowded. The parking is plentiful and you can always leave your bike outside without having to worry about it. Ride safe and have fun! read more

Just went to the High Desert Roundup and the guys took me to the Slash X. Boy when they said this was a dive bar, they wernt kiddin. Man I thought it was one of the coolest bars ive been too. Seams like this is the place to go when out in the area..... Beer is cold, service is good, food is actually good for a place like this. Its good bar food. If you are really hungry and have a bunch of buddies together, ya gotta try their Chili Cheese Fries, i think it was called the Mountain. I remember it said on the menu, have it with the crew! Slash X is located off the 247 just south of the 15/40 crush . It's a great place to ride too of your riding dirt in the area. It's easy to put it in the middle of a 70 mile loop if your riding Stoddard. Food is standard fare, burgers - chili fries and the like . Food here is greasy , hot and good . The beer is cold , with a great selection too ! They have a cool outdoor patio , I've heard live music here . There's a huge shuffleboard table and plenty of room to relax. It's gets pretty crowded on weekends during riding season . Sometime the service is iffy when they're swamped . If you eat outside there's gonna be flies so don't trip . The bathroom is extremely small , so dont forget the courtesy flush ! One time I actually had their buffet bbq after one of the Barstow Poker Runs , it was killer and they haven't had one since :( !!!!!! read more

Country / Dive / Riding bar in the middle of know where. Not sure how it became so popular, but been there several times now (it's actually a "must stop in" spot for our trips to the desert. Unlucky enough to get there right before lunch and you will wait in a long line to order drinks and food. Lucky enough to beat that crowd and you can enjoy your lunch watching those waiting in line. My husband & I stopped in for a quick bite & drink. The staff was friendly & the decor was very interesting. It seems to be a popular spot for the local dirt bikers. We got the cajun fries, which were a little greasy, but had really good seasoning. The chicken strips seemed like regular frozen chicken strips that were reheated. I love this place, they have a kids park to play too! Food is amazing and they are very customer friendly! I have children from age 11, 9, 4 and 3 and they really enjoyed the space and the food. My daughter and I halved the giant steak and the staff put it onto two separate plates. The kids had been on the road for three hours, so to get out and burn off steam at the playground was ideal. Then to have the bikes and tractors was a added bonus. I will make this my go to spot from now on read more

Awesome customer service! We were camping and called to make sure they were open before we rode over. There was no answer and we decided to go for it anyway. The owner saw our missed call (I didn't leave a message) and she called us back and left a voicemail. She read my mind and told us what time they were closing (5pm on a Sunday). I found half of the piece of plastic that keeps the buns closed. You know the little plastic clip that closes the bag to the bread or hamburger buns that was in my burger. Also the food is horrible the people are nice but they can't even get a simple order right everything was wrong and had to be readmade. The last time I went and this time. I'll never eat here again this place sucks. And I don't drink so I guess there's really no reason to go there anymore. Even though the restaurant decor is really cool!! We frequently go for our day rides at Outlet Center Drive in Barstow and I've always wanted to go ride out to Slash X. Unfortunately, our buggy's tranny decided to take a dump, and without enough vehicles to ride through the desert, some of us took the car there. The bikes got there before us, but it was just quick drive off the 15 & Barstow Road. This is a dive bar in the middle of the desert. The parking lot was full of bikes, quads and buggys. It was packed (and it wasn't a holiday weekend, although there was a race going on in the area). So busy that the guy behind the bar quoted us 45 minutes to an hour until we got our food after we ordered it. We decided to wait, and drink a couple of pitchers of beer. There is plenty of seating outside. After waiting patiently for 45 minutes, we decided to check on our order. The guy quoted us yet another 30-45 minutes. This is for burgers and fries people!!! We were buzzed, starving and tired, and surprsingly, the guy offered our money back. And he included the cost of the pitcher of beer we polished off. -3 stars for the horrendous wait +1 star for refunding the full cost of our check Dive Bar + Off Road Vehicles = Heaven :) read more

Well I gave this place five stars but it isn't a five star establishment. It is a wonderfully comfortable dicey little bar, much in the middle of nowhere, that caters to bikers, dirt and Street bikers alike. We have been coming here for over 25 years and have really watched this place evolve from what was what's a one room shack to a decent size restaurant complete with pool tables and outdoor seating. One thing that is famous for is that several scenes from the movie Erin Brockovich we're shot here. Our most recent visit to the Slash was this past weekend, when our MC club was camping nearby for a race. We all stopped in for burgers and beers before hitting the road home. They did an awesome job of accommodating us and it was a fairly large group of about 15 to 20 people . read more

This is a regular stop for me when offroading my prerunner chase truck out in Barstow. Even when wheeling in Lucerne Valley, we will hit the trails and make our way to the Slash. Great atmosphere and decor. Prices are very reasonable considering how generous their serving sizes are. I typically order the buffalo wings and fried mushrooms which I never really finish or end up sharing with others. I have tried the onion rings a few times and they are pretty sizeable too. Can't go wrong with this place, but be warned, during peak seasons like Spring and late Fall, it gets really busy and wait times can seem really long. Worth the wait? When you can get a fresh hot meal and a beer out in the middle of the desert, hell yes it's worth the wait. For the offroad truck fans, be sure to visit the memorial out back for the victims of the MDR California 200 race in 2010. read more

When asked if I could have the zucchini fries, he replied with, "You're in the middle of the Mojave desert. We don't have that. We have fried zucchini.." BIG SHOUT OUT TO JUNIOR AND SENIOR!!!! me and my buddies rode out to Slash X from Stoddard Wells this last Sunday for lunch and some football. Upon arrival one of my buddies realized he had pinched his tube and was completely flat. Junior and Senior went full bad ass and made an 18" tube fit on a 19" rim, buttoned the wheel up and got us back on our way.
