There was a bizarre stagnant smell. I've never before had to walk out of a place due to the atmosphere smelling unpleasant.

The food & drink was totally yummy, but the service was really sad. It was our first time there and we were totally ignored and had to figure out for ourselves how to even place an order. The staff never acknowledged our presence or even made eye contact with us as we walked up to the bar to ask a question. Once we got their attention they were polite, but still acted like they were bothered by our presence. Kinda turned us off of ever going back - might definitely order to go tho. Things I love about S&L: - The setup for gaming is wonderful (big tables, not too crowded, spaces for larger parties and smaller parties alike), and -The massive amounts of games to play are exciting because you can go and try out a new game or choose an old favorite. -The food is good, pretty standard pub fare and pretty standard pricing for drinks/food. -The service is great. Things that are annoying: -The music is super loud for a place where people are trying to talk and play games. -There is a $5 fee per person if you show up to play games there. I totally understand this if you don't bring your own games or if you're not ordering food/drinks, but it gets to be pretty pricey when you want to get together with a group and order meals/drinks for the length of a gameplay and end up paying $20 in fees if you also bring your own games. I will probably just continue to invite people to my home and order pizzas with groups. The only reason I would go back to S&L for gameplay is for my husband and I to try out a new game they may have before we buy it and play it at home.- read more

This is a very nice coffee bar with WiFi on University Ave. You can self order on an app or wait to be served. It is a very large open room with plenty of seating. I feel like it is especially for college students needing a place to study or meet friends to play some board games. They have a great selection of coffees and teas served in large retro coffee cups. We are not exactly college students but went there after watching Sunday Football. They have a menu with snacks and a variety of foods. We did not eat but saw a large pretzel come past our on it's way to being served. Looked yummy! The staff was very friendly and helpful toward some older first timers. read more

First-time visit and it was fabulous! We had some of the best tater tots, and the eloté bites were delicious! We were also there at happy hour and that's $2 off for appetizers and off of wine and beer. We had a cold brew, a latte, a coffee, and a beer. Everton was great! For dinner, we had hamburgers, and they were delicious! The patty was perfectly cooked, the brioche bun was well toasted, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. This is a fun spot! I was visiting the area and trying to find something fun to do and realized most places around here are coffee shops or bars. We chose this spot because it wasn't just a coffee shop. They have a large selection of games and they have a bar too! It's close to the college but it wasn't too crowded, not sure if everyone was gone for spring break. Parking in the back was reasonable enough. Our server was really nice and welcoming. I recently moved to town and was very disappointed to see that Tucson did not have a board game cafe. I was thrilled to hear Snakes and Lattes was opening! Went here on a date, there are plenty of two person games to play but it would be fun to go with a bigger group. The staff was very kind and informative about everything from the games to the food and drinks. The library was a little small compared to some other board game cafes I've been to but it looks like there was room for it to fill out! They had all the big hitters and some more obscure games. I understand this venue is mostly a college hangout. However, the quality and flavor of the food items should not be lower for this reason. We tried their version of croque monsieur, cheeseburger, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. All were underwhelming. Service was average and we were a large group when we went. Drinks were a bit watered down as well. I suspect because of the college crowd. read more

I come here twice a week in between my classes. Emma is usually who is there to help me out and she is fantastic. The place always feels welcoming and inviting. Christina, the manager, consistently helps out the staff when it gets busy. As someone in the service industry this is such a huge highlight for me. It's a great place to meet some friends for a game night/day or if you're like me and need a place to grab some food and finish up that essay before your next class. 10/10 recommend stopping in, playing a game, and grabbing a bite to eat! I live around here and have made the mistake of passing this place by thinking it was just for breakfast. I loved the airy French fries with a juicy burger and a rum and punch. The burger came with a game pass to play their board games. Playing games with friends is much more entertaining than sitting around and just chatting. Had some time to kill while I was near the UA campus, so my friends and I stopped by Snakes & Lattes for the first time! The way the board game situation worked wasn't very clear until you look at the menu - at the bottom it says $5 per person to hang out and play games ($3 for kids). Our server kindly waived the game fee for us since we had never been there before, and we decided to go ahead and order some drinks and appetizers while playing a couple games. I ordered a lavender latte, and it was very good and not too sweet! We also ordered pretzel sticks and a charcuterie board, and I do recommend both; they were very good and beautifully plated. I did order Mac and cheese to go to try an entree, but it was fairly standard - no complaints but nothing that stood out. I will say everything was a bit pricey though so it's not the best place to come if you're just hungry - the real appeal is the wide selection of board games and the ability to be there for a long amount of time. They have a LOT of games - just about everything you can think of! Definitely more than enough to enjoy hours of fun with friends. The food is also good, but it'd be better to come with a group to help split the price for the food, and depending on how long you stay, the board game fee is definitely reasonable! I'd heard of this place a few months back but hadn't had a good reason or opportunity to check it out in-person until a couple weeks ago. Since then I've been back a few times and I absolutely love it! The location is awesome and the interior is really nice. Open and spread out nicely with comfortable seating and nicely-sized tabletops. They have a nice bar with cocktails, beer, and wine service as well as a kitchen and coffee bar setup to accommodate just about anything you'd want or need. Menu prices are reasonable and the selections are diverse and well-curated. The real star of their spot is the wall of board games available to play. S&L very reasonably charges a flat $5 fee per person for unlimited access to the games during your visit and that does feel generous given the hundreds of titles that adorn the walls. Every time I've been in there are groups of college students and professional adults alike enjoying the amenities they provide. They also run a weekly trivia that is wildly popular, often necessitating reservations to ensure a table on Wednesday evening. Overall this is the exact sort of spot I wish I'd had around me my entire life and I'm very satisfied with Snakes & Lattes and the spot they occupy in the Tucson business landscape! read more

Cute spot, great place to gather with friends from 2 to ???, they have bench seating along a wall with tables so you could have a larger game night, there are also tables and adequate spacing to allow multiple groups to play. Menu of food is smallish but offers a good variety from salads, sandwiches, composed entree meals and if you just want to snack there is popcorn, cheese plates and even a few desserts. Full bar and coffees make this a place you could definitely stay for a few hours and have your needs met. I look forward to revisiting. read more

Went to Snakes and Lattes with a few friends last night. Absolutely blown away with basically everything. The service was prompt and punctual, and very kind. If you get Wesley, you are in luck, as he makes a pretty insane espresso martini, which I would greatly recommend. The owner, Christina, who was sitting next to us working on some business paperwork, seemed like a really nice lady, and even gave us some suggestions on the newly redone menu. The interior was well lit, and well stocked with board games (we played Azul and Clank!, the latter of which is complicated but I would recommend to everyone). On to the food and drink, my friend ordered a Greyhound, and literally could not stop. He's really not much of a drinker, so it definitely surprised me. It then surprised me a little more when he ordered the table an entire pitcher of the Rum Punch, which was, while very rum forward, perfectly mixed, tasty, and garnished with an entire chopped lemon. It was extremely good! We got some fries and cheesy bread, and although the portions were modestly sized, the quality of the food accounts for it in SPADES. Like, legitimately, they were the best, fluffiest, and crispiest fries I've had a long time. My other friend with a notorious sweet tooth got a chocolate mouse, which came out in this three tiered caramel, chocolate crumble, and graham crumble, and the presentation really blew me away. She also got a lavender vanilla latte, which was surprising floral and pleasant. Very nice! In all, I really had nothing to complain about. Everyone was extremely generous, the board game stock was plentiful, the atmosphere was cozy and fun, and prices were more than reasonable. We have come several times here and we absolutly loved the experience. The kids and I got to play some games, and then I was able to work on my lap top for about an hour while they had fun.
