Let's chat about Sofi's Mexican Restaurant. While Nextdoor has a slightly lower rating of 4.3, I would have to disagree with them gentle readers. (Get where I was attempting to go there?} Our friends Valerie and Dan told us about this small local family restaurant. Fast forward a few weeks, we decided to go. Cannot believe Dan and Valerie were actually there. (This leads me to believe they may have stock in the Restaurant.) We were greeted with a friendly waitress who quickly brought us water and menus. We ordered the recommended Taco salad and enchilada dinners which were delicious! The lettuce was crisp, the pico de gallo was fresh and the ground beef seasoned well but not overpowering. The restaurant's homemade red and green salsa's added a unique twang and heat respectively; and the homemade red enchilada sauce is also noteworthy adding a sense of spice, but not necessarily heat. We even ordered additional just to soak the towering-ever so crisp and light taco shell from the taco salad. Unexpectedly, Dan and Valerie picked up the tab (truly solidifying our friendship)! Brining us to today. Not wanting to drive the notorious - take your life into your own hands - stretch from R H Johnson to 83RD, we decided to try Sofi's again. Totally surprised not to find our great friends Dan and Valerie already there we selected a table in the corner. There were 2 additional newbie couples in the opposite corner sharing with the waiter they had also come in from recommendations made by neighbors and Nextdoor alike. While we should have ordered different items in order to expand our horizons, our last meal was too good to pass up; we ordered the exact same dishes. Not disappointed again! I would like to add one last comment. Being an American brought up knowing great American fries that were once served at great Counter Diners such as F W Woolworth's, JJ Newberry's, and W T Grant's; we ventured to order the french fries as an appetizer (yes at a Mexican Restaurant). The waiter asked us if we would like them "crisp", of course the answer was yes!! I will admit they took me back 50 years sitting at the round shaped counters at Woolworth's with my 2 brothers and mom Sandra sharing a plate of fries. The inside, creamy like a starchy mashed potato, the outside crisp almost potato chip like and HOT, just begging us to drench them in ketchup and salt. The moment now forever captured in nostalgia. Gentle readers, keep in mind this is a FAMILY restaurant; no fine linen, no crystal chandeliers and no servers in tuxedos. You get a great tasting meal at a very fair price from a honest hard working family owned business serving our great community. What more should you ask for? read more

We tried Sofi's last week on the basis of the great Yelp reviews and you know what? They were right! A big 5 stars from everyone in the party. Server was sweet and funny, super courteous, even as they were closing, she said, "Sit as long as you want, I've got a lot of work to do in the back to close. Just let me know if you need anything!" Food was top notch and the vibe was great. We spent time talking to other guests about what was good and the recommendations were right on. We'll be back and you should stop by if you haven't tried Sofi's yet. read more

I randomly stopped here and I'm so glad I did. Their chips and salsa were soooooo good. The chips were so fresh. I got rolled tacos and mini carne asada tacos. They were so amazing and fresh. The beans and rice were also good. I would definitely come back here!! Thank you! My only complaint was that I was really hoping for some fresh pineapple or watermelon juice! Horribly overpriced! The food that is served is "fine" but not for $28 for 2 tacos and 2 enchiladas! This place is so overpriced it's crazy! I could go to a full service restaurant, higher quality for that price. Shame on the. You're crazy if you support those prices. Taco Bell is better. They don't even deserve one star! Went for Lunch at Sofi's for the first time Tuesday. It was over the top. We both ordered the Chili relleno and it was outstanding. The service was helpful and friendly. We talked for awhile after lunch and were not rushed. We will be back again and again to Sofi's. read more

This little place is new to town with a small menu and good food. The chicken burrito was yummy with a little bit of spice and their mild sauce to add onto it was flavorful. The spicy one was more spice than flavor, but it was still a good complement to the food overall. Check them out. Post your review because I'm curious what other think. read more

After completing my Harbor Freight visit around noon, I sought something new and better than usual fast food places. I noticed Sofia's in the corner of the shopping center. After reading the Yelp review, I decided to try lunch. What a surprise! First, it is clean, and the staff are very friendly. The lunch menu selections were good, and the price was competitive with any drive-through. I had the taco and enchilada combo. Both were good size and served on two plates. The chicken in the enchilada was seasoned very well, and the corn tortilla appeared to be homemade and cooked just right. The tortilla had an enticing flavor, and the green chile sauce was delicious and not too hot. The taco made with ground beef was a good size portion. The beef seasoning was outstanding. They said they have been in business for about 1 1/2 years. I have been seeking an excellent Mexican food lunch for too long, and I will be back! In closing, don't walk but run to eat at this little family-operated gem. I will try the breakfast sometime soon. read more

My Mom & I went to Sofi's over the weekend for the first time as we are new to the area. She had the California omelette and I had the breakfast burrito. Both were very good. When we first arrived there were a few people there eating, but then it was down to us and another two in the booth behind us. We didn't see anyone come out to check if we needed anything. It was probably a good 15 minutes before anyone else came in and then more people came in and we finally saw the staff again. I knew they were around as we could hear them talking. Other than the lack of attention for a bit everything else was great. I just hope they pay better attention in the future when they have customers even if it's only 2 or 4 who are not in their immediate view. read more

This is a small storefront restaurant that you won't see off the street. It next door to Portofinos restaurant. The food is outstanding and homemade by mama with love. Small but authentic and good, next to Portifino's in the Crossroads Towne Center in Surprise. Sophia, her 2 sons and her sister do a wonderful job. Taco Tuesday is great. I like the Carne Asada and my husband gets the ground meat. I love the Chili Relleno. So far, Sofia still has time to come out of kitchen to greet the guests and that's fun. Two couples went to Sophie's late Sunday afternoon. Had to try it after reading Dan's "entertaining review made us want to check it out. Two ordered breakfast which is served all day. My wife said best omlet she ever had. Friend loved rib eye steak and eggs. Two were pleased woth Chili Relleno and requested half red and half green sauce, both great.
