I love it when a place lets you order at the register and then they bring it out to you. We sat in the patio and it was the best choice tbh. To our surprise they brought out corn bread. It was solid cornbread with some butter the butter did not really have a taste so it would be great if they once day made it flavored. My partner had the blackened chicken sandwich and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. The fries are thin and have pizza like seasoning. They were pretty tasty but their ketchup is not chilled and that matters to me. My chicken sandwich was great if anything it may have been a tiny over cooked but honestly with everything in the plate it was great. The pickle chips were sooo pickle. They cut them in shears so if you like the taste of pickled you will love these. They literally were the perfect pair to our entrees. My parter also had the strawberry lemonade and if you are a fan of stuff stronger in strawberry taste please skip the lemonade. Overall we were so pleased with the food it got us excited to come back to try non chicken products.

for two combo meals (burger + fries or tater toots + a canned drink) was $40. not worth it. the burger was okay, i got their aji burger because i wanted to try new kind of burger. it was a fine burger, nothing worth bragging about. same for their toots and fries. we could only order to-go despite ordering an hour before they were closing...i guess everyone was thrilled to go home that day. we still eat there because we still had a hour.. before they closed. most tables were dirty. if you're looking for a good burger spot, i would keep looking.

I ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap and it tasted really good. I put ranch to made it extra creamy. My only small complaint is I wish there was a little more chicken, it felt slightly light compared to the amount of vegetables. The Crispy Shroom was also really good! Super crispy and nicely seasoned. Definitely something I would order again. The interior is very cute and cozy, and they also offer 2 hours of free parking, which is a huge plus. Overall, a solid spot for a quick bite and I'd come back to try more items.

Yum!! Caesar salad is a treat!!! I would skip the chicken (since that's $4 extra and it didn't blow my mind) and order the salad with a single burger. Those two make a great meal. Tater tots are the perfect companion to your burger. I really liked them. My friend enjoyed the shroom burger a lot! She's vegetarian. Plenty of seating and they got our food out quickly at 6PM on a weekday.

Aji Double ($13): Really good. Aji verde sauce was creamy and rich, pickled jalapenos had a nice bite, the burger had a perfect lacy edge.

I initially had Softies when they were a vendor at Smorgasburg and had been hooked ever since! So hearing they finally opened up shop at the USC village, I was excited to stop on by. When visiting, parking is 2 hours free at the USC village lot w/o validation (located underneath the village itself)! Food: I've had each of the burgers and each of them are still a standout and the prices are about average for a smashburger spot (between $9-13) in LA. Service: Service was quick but fairly hands-off. The space was empty when we arrived, our order took about 10 minutes. Overall, Softies has still got it. The burgers are awesome, the sides stand on their own, while the cookie and salad wrap felt a bit more understated. Here's what I ordered: Aji Double Burger ($13): Really really good. The aji verde sauce was creamy and rich, pickled jalapenos were sweet with a nice bite, and the burger itself had the perfect lacy edge that most smashburgers miss. Tots ($5): Crispy and light, seasoned with a Lawry's-esque seasoning salt. Yum. Chicken Caesar Wrap($14): Straightforward. Didn't quite stand out as much. Brown butter espresso chocolate chip cookie ($3.75): A bit burned, but still had a good salty-chocolate flavor. Grand total ~$40.12 (tax included)

I think the best smash burger in LA has been found! Right here at this spot guys. Definitely come check them out if you're in the area. They have a really cool 'humble beginnings' story as well

Great spot for casual burgers with unique flavors. Price isn't too bad and they've got lots of seating both indoors and outdoors so you can bring your dog if you'd like. Service is helpful and fairly quick. Favorite thing I've had here so far is the aji burger -- super flavorful and a little spicy.

Very fresh. Seems to be made on demand. This is nearly a cursed location in the village. I mean it has been 3 burger joints in 6 years BUT this one has by far, the very best service of them all. The Texan on the register made the jalapeño burger recommendation. True smash burger with crispy edges. Tasty. I was looking for more citrus punchy flavor or a bright/freshness to it but very clean vibe, nice restrooms and convenient. Excellent prices.

Solid place for burgers in the area! I ordered their single cali burger and tater tots. Took around 10 minutes to get my order. Burger was solid but was not any awe amazing (7/10) $13 , did like the onions in it though. Tots, $5, were crunchy but wished they gave me more than 3 packets of ketchup. I also ordered a brown butter espresso cookie that was decent but not crazy good. Glad I tried this place on my burger quest but don't think it was that special where I would go out of my way to eat it again!

Had the aji burger, it's not bad for a lunch in USC. The place just opened up, it's clean and bright. Fries are nicely seasoned.

Awww man I've been rooting for them to finally have a store of their own during their pop-up times and they finally did it this year! Staff were friendly and such a clean place at USC Village makes it really great area to visit (lucky for USC students). We came in around 3PM on a Sunday and it wasn't a long wait to order or get their food. There were plenty of seats indoor and outdoors at the time. I always love their smash burgers but was wishing for their special burgers when I came. It did feel like the size of their burger was smaller compared to previous times I've had them. Nonetheless, still the best smash burgers I've ever had and can't wait to visit when I'm in the area (or hopefully they'll visit OC again).

I was in the USC village getting my nails done and wanted to grab food before going to Trader Joe's. I am trying to cut calories where I can, so I ordered the Cali burger on lettuce. Even without the bun it was delicious, so I know with the bun it is fire! Customer service was great!

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back. Also, don't plan your entire trip around getting The DH because they don't always have it. This was my second visit and once again it wasn't available, so we ended up getting the Amboy and the Fancy, both Slim Thicc style. The seating situation is the only real downside. On weekends people end up eating all over the plaza--around the trees, on benches, basically wherever they can find a place to sit. Weekdays are definitely the move if you can make it. One thing to know before you get in line: people take their sweet time ordering here, and honestly I get it because everything sounds good. Just bring a little patience. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.

To say I'm super bummed is an understatement. I am so thankful that I happen to stop by for lunch and visit this location one last time. The same manager was there on the last day as when I went the first time two years ago. The staff there was always amazing, friendly, and the food was incredible. I think it was the Chinatown location that didn't work for them. However, the good news is that they do have three other locations and if you have never been, I suggest you check Kroft out if you love burgers, especially smashed. The other locations are in Long Beach, Anaheim, and Rancho Cucamonga. I wish them luck and I will definitely be stopping in their other locations if I am ever in the area.

Waited another 10min, while I saw other people picking up orders, so I checked in again. Same response, not ready yet. Another 10min passed by, now I'm seeeing people who came after me get their orders before me. Asked the staff again for my order status. The order pick up window person shouted my name to the kitchen each time I checked in. Finally the 3rd time they responded, they start arguing, apparently my order was done a long time ago, and it was given to someone else. It took 30min to figure out that my order had already been done and given to someone else because there was no communication between the kitchen, order staff or pick up staff. no apology, just got my food after the argument 3minutes later...Food was average, definitely not worth a 30min wait.
