The Solvang Fake News Food Company! I had the Torpedo Sausage, menu says "house made stout grain mustard", what a joke. See photo, I received packets of US Foods low-rent mustard from Homewood Illinois. Menu said sauerkraut and sourdough, but no kraut and plain roll. Rest of the menu is the same Fake News, promising "Danish" or "European" style, "house made" dressing and sauces actually from little packets, and "Grade A fries" whatever that is -- mine were the same old stale and greasy. There's plenty of good restaurants in Solvang, no reason to go to this tourist trap. Service and ambiance were mediocre. We made a mistake. read more

If you like food that is super salty, then this is the place for you. My husband and I shared an order of onion rings, fish and chips and their Solvang IPA. The onion rings were super salty. The sauce they gave us was blue cheese so we had to ask for another sauce, ranch. The fish and chips tasted bleh. The fish was not as crispy. The fries were a little on the salty side. While we were waiting for Paula's for breakfast, we sat here-- which was right next door-- ordered some Bloody Marys. My friend absolutely loved it. She got the works, bacon and all! I just got the basic. I enjoyed it but I didn't love it. My favorite Bloody Mary of all time resides in Mexico (review for that to come). For the evening, there's not much to do in Solvang when it comes to night life lol. After dinner, we decided to grab some drinks and chill by the fire pit before calling it a night. Was visiting with family so they get can get to know Solvang and what's it's like, and we decided to go to the brewing company to finish off our trip. We were excited to grab a drink, but unfortunately we did not get great service or treatment. We went up to the bar and were waiting behind two people so we can place our order. There was one bartender taking care of one side and didn't acknowledge us or let us know where to order. We moved to another window where people were being served and then the other bartender told us to go inside. I thought it was odd because they were still serving others coming up to the window. I didn't want to go inside because they don't have the beer on draft that the bar outside did. Again we were ignored multiple times and directed to go inside but others kept coming up to the window to get their orders or pick up drinks. We felt a little discriminated against and we did leave feeling frustrated and upset. Unfortunate end to our trip but we did not feel like this place had staff who respected us or had service etiquette to be polite. We were not greeted, helped, or addressed appropriately. I should have read the review but pulled into town hungry and this was the first place we stopped. I didn't mind ordering from the bar and the food came quickly. There is a window to order outside or inside at a bar. Place is big. I was looking for a beer menu in the rack, but just drinks and food menus. Beers are on the TVs inside. The first on the list, a Seltzer, uh oh. A lager a pilsner only one IPA. A staff member came by and said I could order drinks inside, not wait outside where food is also ordered. It was a little strange because there was only one bartender presently (other keep was on break) so I wasn't getting anywhere by that move. Alas second guy is back. Do you have half pints I inquired knowing wife didn't need a full pour. Yes, great. I ordered the IPA. It tasted like Lagunitas. Now that would be fine if you liked Lagunitas versus a more craft focused approach. I would expect much better from a brewing company but perhaps a heavy tourist clientele is simpler in taste. The award winning lager was very corn forward in aroma and flavor. Nothing to write home about as they say. There is a very inviting outdoor patio with umbrella covered tables along Solvang's main drag. I later discovered a nice bar that smelled of leather where the restrooms are located. Came here twice over Thanksgiving break and had a great time. Had the wings and they were incredible. The staff is what really made it. Chuck and one of the owners were awesome. Even though they were jam packed, they managed to make us feel at home. Their kitchen burned down a while back and they were obviously struggling to keep up with all the orders, but they still managed to be gracious and helpful. Admittedly it is a holiday, and they lost their kitchen in a fire. Somehow they are preparing food. They warn that stuff may not come from whatever cooking area they have at the same time for all persons in your party. However, I was almost finished with my food before my husband's BLT came out. We had to ask one of the food runners about it to get it at all. I think they skipped it. My bratwurst sandwich was average, bread was doughy and the sauerkraut very vinegary. My husband said his BLT was worth waiting for. They are doing the best they can, but maybe wait until their kitchen reopens or go when it's not mobbed with people. Unfortunately this wasn't our favorite spot. We were hoping for beer flights and they did not have a beer flight. They also have an extremely small selection of beers. We felt confused walking in, about knowing where to go and how to order and if we seat ourselves. Nice outdoor inviting brewery on the main drag as you head into Solvang. We had the sausage sampler. Trying the sausage is a must when in Solvang! It came with 2 mustards and a nacho like dipping cheese. Overall a 4 on this choice. The other item was the Rueben which was large and on sourdough. Overall the Rueben was average. Welcome to the quaint little town of Solvang! Known for its Danish-style buildings, windmills, wineries, Danish culture, heritage and Danish bakeries... We decided to take a drive this past winter to check out Solvang's Annual Julefest pronounced 'Yule*Fest' This month+ long festivity is a holiday celebration of lights, seasonal music, and Danish Holiday customs. We went the evening of 12.22.2023 and the town was absolutely packed!!! Of course, after walking through the various shops, the yummy bakeries, and taking pictures in front of the Danish Windmill, we were starting to get a little hungry. So we went onto our trusty Yelp app and decided on the Solvang Brewing Company. The ordering process of our food was a little bit confusing, (do you have a server or do you order at the bar?), but we ultimately figured it out. We found a big outdoor table to accommodate our group and we were eventually greeted by our server. I went with their Santa Maria Tri Tip sandwich which was good, but I felt it was a little too spicy for my liking. Maybe ask for the sauce on the side?? I did get it with onion rings which paired perfectly with a side of their ranch. My wife went with their Carnitas Nachos which she said were decent; looking back at the photos, I remember thinking the same thing at the time. Topped with some weird fruit for decoration, it just seemed out of place and was a bit of a sloppy presentation. I was very surprised with the food here. My family and I came to have dinner while on vacation in Solvang. First of all I chose this place because it has a lot of seating ( we were a party of 15) it was too cold outside but the indoor seating was full when we got there. My husband asked one of the waiters if it's possible to sit indoors since it's so cold he said to wait 15 looks like a few tables are getting empty he can put it together and have us dine indoors. Now that's wonderful customer service. Right away it puts you in a great mood and ambiance. Our whole family enjoyed our special time here. We ordered nachos, burgers, salads, soups, sandwiches and sausages. Everyone loved their food. I got a nachos and I gotta tell you it was the best nachos I ever had. The salad was just ok, a bit underdressed. Kids enjoyed their burgers and my husband loved his pastrami Rueben. It's a very spacious place and great for large groups dining together specially the outdoor area. You place your order then look for a table to sit. On a nice warm day this would be the best place to spend time at. They serve variety of beer and cocktails. Came here on a Sunday night. This was one of the few places open at 8PM in Solvang on a Sunday so bonus points for that. There was a fair amount of people but still plenty of open tables. You have you order taken at the window outside and then you get a number placard so you can pick anywhere to sit and they bring your food to you. There is also a QR code at the table so you can order more food or drinks from your table. I got the beer brat sausage torpedo which was good! Definitely didn't seem like a lot of food when I got it but it was larger than I thought. The onion rings were good too, nothing special but nothing bad. I also ordered the Tequila Sunrise using the QR code from the table. It was a little slow to receive so it might be faster to order upfront or at the bar. The drink was strong though and worth the ~$9. I loved all the signs they had up in here and it really added to the vibes of a pub. Overall, good experience! read more

We were here the other night for food and drinks. When we first got there and ordered, it was already disappointing that they were out of the only beer I wanted, but whatever not the end of the world. We ordered the sausage sampler and the elote corn bowl and yikes. The "soft" pretzel that came with the sausage platter was rock hard. The sausages tasted spoiled and the mustard was bubbling (not from temperature). The corn elote bowl chips were stale. The server comped our sausage platter which was nice but now we're scared to ever go back in the fear of getting sick from spoiled food. The Solvang Brewing Company is a wonderful spot to grab a couple of brews (or other favorite beverages) as you rest your feet after a walk around this Danish-themed town. It's also one of the few businesses that doesn't roll up its "Welcome" mat before the sun has even set! You can enjoy their faire until midnight most days. I can only critique the beer selection on our late-afternoon visit. There's a good selection of tap beers and some impressive specialty cocktails, as well. The appetizer and food menu looked tempting, too, but since we had eaten earlier we opted only for "liquid snacks" on the patio. Beverage prices were reasonable ($7 for most tap beers) and there is a Yelp digital coupon to save you a few more bucks when you check-in. The food appears to be mostly self-service ordering at the bars (there's both indoor and outdoor seating), but what the delivery servers passed by with looked both tasty and generous in portion size. I would have tried the Sausage Sampler appetizer if not already stuffed. What can I say? Just passing by speaks for its popularity.
