It was my first time trying Somisomi and it didn't disappoint! I ordered the matcha soft serve with the fish waffle topping. The matcha soft serve was more on the milky and sweeter side. The real highlight of my dessert was the fish waffle - it was crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the inside, and had just the right amount of sweetness! The staff were welcoming and helpful, the space is perfect to sit for a quick bite! I plan to return for the fish waffle!

I love Somisomi. I've been to multiple locations, and they're all great. This location in downtown Palo Alto was not crowded at all on a warm Saturday evening, we waited maybe 2-3 minutes total after ordering on a kiosk for our soft serve to come out. They had a new flavor, sakura berry, which was light and fruity, perfect for a spring day! The fish cone was warm and crispy and delicious as usual. There's some seating inside but I usually take it and walk down University. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a sweet treat in downtown Palo Alto!

    Ah-boongs - don't forget to ask for a macaron or a strawberry!

My favorite taiyaki: Somisomi This weekend was my 3rd time visiting Somisomi in Palo Alto, CA, and it doesn't disappoint! Taiyaki is a waffle pastry typically filled with red bean paste, but the filling can vary. Pictured is Black Sesame and Milk soft serve with a Taiyaki filled with custard. They're best when the waffle is warm off the griddle (unfortunately this one wasn't :/). Such a fun dessert experience! Plus, the little macaron topping is so cute.

I have visited this place over the weekend for the first time after my frnds suggestion. Tried match soft serve. It was so good. I really like their ambiance with fish cone on top of my icecream. Loved it

SomiSomi has an Earl Grey and Cookies & Cream swirl right now! I've always been a big fan of Earl Grey, and this one's just perfect -- not too sweet, with just the right amount of tea flavor. Definitely worth a try if you're an Earl Grey lover like me!!

Follow up... This is how they treated us when we visited. The first photo shows what someone else received, and the second is what we were given, completely untouched, so you can clearly see how little they served us. We arrived about 15 minutes before closing, and it felt like they were annoyed we came in at all. The portions were noticeably smaller, the staff was unfriendly and rude, and they were even talking about us to each other in an unprofessional way.Very disappointing experience. Customers should be treated with respect regardless of the time, as long as the business is still open.

It was my first time trying Somisomi on a warm afternoon and it was yummy yummy! You place your order at the kiosk, with choices of different flavors of soft serve (when I went, there was ube & matcha available, among more traditional flavors) along with taiyaki - a breaded Japanese dessert usually in the shape of a fish and holds different fillings inside. I got the number one recommendation, which was a taiyaki waffle cone filled with red bean filling and matcha soft serve. The flavors paired well together, and while I'm not a huge dessert person, this small but mighty treat tasted divine on a hot day, especially when enjoyed outdoors.

SomiSomi always hits my soft serve cravings. The ube and cookies and cream are my favorites and I love when they offer the swirl of those two. This location is pretty small, there's not much seating available, and it's also challenging to find street parking during peak hours.

Great experience here!! Would've loved to have the fish waffle warmed up, but otherwise super delicious. I got cookies and cream ice cream with black sesame and coconut shavings for the topping.

My SO and I were stoked to see a SOMISOMI here! I love their taiyaki and their soft serve. We decided to get two taiyakis and holy moly, they were quite disappointing. They were raw as the taiyaki wasn't heated up long enough and I had to throw it away. Welp, most disappointing SOMISOMI experience I have ever had actually.

We looove Somi Somi for their Taiyakis - freshly made and stuffed with Nutella or Custard (my two faves) & is absolutely delishhhh! This time we tried their Ahboong with Thai ice tea soft serve and my husband g their matcha. It was pretty standard taste wise but I still somehow enjoy their taiyakis more than their ice creams.

The place was very quiet not so busy came in on a Sunday evening. Wanted to try this spot for a while since I always saw it packed. The staff member was very sweet and patient she gave really good recommendations. Was very good and I can see why it gets packed here.

We had an impromptu ice cream pow-wow here as a family on Wednesday - this is my son's favorite soft-serve ice cream - I was underwhelmed by the one I had - maybe I need another round here before I can make up my mind. Decor is quirky and fun and the service is quick and efficient (not super friendly vibes). We all got the Ube flavor and I appreciated the fact that it wasn't overly sweet but not yet sold on this place - I will be back !

You order on iPad. The move is definitely to get the taiyaki's separately - the they come out hot! So good

Love getting the 5 piece combo for the kids. The bomb is actually their strawberry milk, real strawberries and not super sweet.

This is a Korean restaurant on the fancy side, very pretty and well decorated. The service was very good and the sweet lady pushed the cart of banchans to refill without us asking. Instead of variety of banchan to share, they actuall offer individual set of banchan so we do not have to reach over to get to the ones we like. Whatever ordered were very tasty, but the portion was a bit on the small side, but with enough banchan it was okay. I think we had short rib stew, cod, grilled spicy pork, and others. As I said it is on the fancy side so it was not your usuall Korean tofu house price tag. I think after we split, it was about $55 a person.

It is so refreshing and adds a lot of flavor. Bibim naengmyeon - 10/10. The noodles are chewy and refreshing. They do not skimp out on the toppings. AND the spice is totally doable. My personal favorite part is always the combination of the banchan and the noodles. SO GOOD. Seolleongtang - 10/10. I love how hearty this meal is and how it never fails to warm me up from the inside out. This is the perfect comfort meal. The meat is also so tender and the noodles really soak up that broth. The broth is the best part, you can season it to your own taste but the base itself is already pretty great! Very savory. And the plus is that they give free yakult at the end when you pay so it's a cute lil free sweet treat to enjoy!

While I never…read moremet the man, he has incredible taste, because Sweet Maple has the best breakfast food I've ever had in the bay area. Well worth the trip. The two of us were dubious about the Millionaire's Bacon, because it was hyped up to the point where it seemed unlikely that it could live up to the reputation. We were wrong. We ordered the Millionaire's Bacon sampler platter, which is four strips of long, thick pieces of bacon, baked with brown sugar and spices. There is the original, which is brown sugar, cayenne, red, and black pepper, which was sweet, salty, and the perfect amount of spicy. The other slices were orange, cinnamon, and rosemary. My partner enjoyed the orange best, whereas I loved the cinnamon, but we both thought the rosemary was underwhelming. The bacon itself was very thick and meaty with a minimal amount of fat, and was just clearly high quality pork. Truly worth the hype. We also got the bottomless mimosas, which not only had multiple choices of juice (we got raspberry lemonade) but were surprisingly heavy on the champagne. The waiter kept them coming without us needing to ask, to the point where I had to tell him I was done because I was a little too tipsy for breakfast. My partner got the chicken croffle, and was very impressed. I tried the fried chicken (though not the croffle) and it was very well spiced, very crunchy, and well cooked--juicy and tender. I got the big hip, which is deep fried "french toast". I wouldn't call it french toast myself, but it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and came with fresh fruit, butter, and syrup. There wasn't enough syrup for the entire dish, but I asked our waiter for more and he came back with it in less than a minute. On top of the food being as close to perfect as you can get, the service was great. Several different waiters checked in on us throughout the meal, making sure we were enjoying the food and that we didn't need anything else. The vibes of the restaurant are really enjoyable too. The décor is lovely, the sound levels are very reasonable, and everything was spotless during our visit. Overall, I can't recommend Sweet Maple enough, and I'm kind of glad it's not closer to my house because I would go bankrupt with the amount of Millionaire's Bacon I'd buy on a weekly basis.

The host received us warmly, but things slipped from there. Our table was missing cutlery and we had to flag our server down to get it sorted. We asked for a minute to look over the menu since it was our first visit. He did not come back for five minutes, and only because we flagged him down again. When we ordered, he took our request without making eye contact, attention clearly elsewhere in the restaurant. One dish came out. The second did not. Our server never circled back to check on us, and seemingly did not notice that one of us had no food in front of her. After nearly ten minutes, we flagged him down again. He called over from across the restaurant, not walking to us, with a "what?" We had to gesture that my guest still had no food. He came over briefly, confirmed our order, said it was coming soon, and left. No apology. No acknowledgment of the wait. No offer to make it right while one plate sat getting cold. The food eventually came, again with no apology. It was good. But by then, honestly, the experience had overshadowed it. We asked for a manager. Cathy came over, listened, and immediately apologized. She agreed the service fell short, gave us a break on the bill, and handled the situation with real grace. She is the reason this review has any stars at all! For reference, our server's name on the receipt read Mui F. I hope Cathy's conversation with him makes a difference, because Sweet Maple clearly has the food to back up its reputation. The service just needs to match it!
