Back in 2013-2014 I had quit coming here due to the food and appearance. Since the renovations and a few other changes I started eating there again and as usual their falling back into their old habits but this time it's with certain people that prep your order. Numerous times I've picked my orders up, Ive open the sandwich to find a CLUMP OF MEAT between two pieces of bread. They have become so LAZY they won't even ATTEMPT to make your sandwich. Well last night against my better judgment I ordered again and once again the lazy waste of air didn't let me down. Our server Michelle was amazing but the service itself was not. We ordered our kids food first so our daughter could take her medicine with it as she eats which is crucial. After about 5 minutes we then made our order. 20 minutes later our food, not the kids food was brought out. We had to wait an additional 15 minutes for our children's food. My meal was set in front only to be disgusting with old and the top of a tomatoes with the core as served. It was not fresh. My wife's mac'n'cheese was cold. I just lost my appetite. Last time we were here it was so much better. Not even the manager has come by to check to see what is going on. I am glad to see that they run from their problems vs. fixing them. I won't be having business meetings for our non-profit here anytime soon. The manager had no respect to come check at all but stare while the server (amazing person) was made to deal with it all. Went to good old Sonny's barbecue tonight on Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park it was 13.99$ for a full rack of baby back ribs and they were delicious as usual they revamped the place a little bit since I hhad been there last ,it's one of the last places in town that still has the giant salad bar . It was very busy it being Friday night and all and we had two small children with us tonight which were driving us absolutely insane so we were pleased that we got a table right away and the food came pretty quickly as usual and it was delicious. Terrible experience with curbside pickup. Upon arriving I called to let them know I had arrived. 15 minutes later I called back and they were looking for my order. Several minutes later they brought the food and took my credit card. 5 minutes later I had to go inside to get my credit card and receipt. The curbside server continued bringing out orders during the time I was waiting for my credit card. They lacked courtesy and professionalism of any kind. Its been years like at least 10 since I've eaten at this Sonny's. I decided to call ahead since I was picking up dinner after work. Courtney answered the phone and was rather rude with me on the phone. This absolutely left a bad taste in my mouth. After arriving to pick up my to-go order you could clearly see she was very flustered and rushed. Working in the public sector I'm very big on customer service and she needs a class or two on how to treat customers. The food was just as I remembered. Starting with Sweet & Smokey Ribs and first order were meaty and fantastically, fall of the bone tender! Corn on the cob was fresh, the corn bread was hot and the baked beans were sweet and full of flavor! The second round of Ribs were not quite up to par as the first and were a bit tough and I was unable to finish half the order. But this time I think they gave the bottom scrapes and the turkey wasn't portioned to the pulled pork???? Who doesn't love BBQ? This is my gf and I's go to for BBQ. They have all you can eat chicken, pork, or ribs! This includes any refills on sides! The staff is very attentive and the food is delicious. The only reason for the four star rating is sometimes the refills don't come out hot but just warm! Definitely recommend! read more

I came for Sonny's remodeling celebration today. I was one of the first 50 so they gave out coupons for free big meal. I chose to get the salad and fried okra though. The salad was fresh and good. I love the fact that they dice the toppings. I won a t-shirt too. Everyone was pleasant and smiling. My server was Valerie. I don't get as excited as I use to. I've over eaten BBQ here so many times I'm sick of it. Whole if your salad lover they have an excellent salad bar I'm a meat lover. I don't look forward to this anymore because it seems like they drown my ribs or whatever I eat in sauce. I mean suffocate it drown it glob it etc. YES ALOT OF SAUCE. I don't like that and even when I tell em it seems like they don't listen. This location is kinda going to the dogs but hey it's still delicious it's still a good friendly place to eat. Given sometimes it's abit of a wait but not many good BBQ joints around here cause Bonos and woodsy sure do not cut it but maybe ill go over there see how they're doing. It seems like maybe just maybe they should re model abit. Floors are a little icky and tables are small. This is a family place so obviously big famys come. When they do i can tell everyone's squished. TRY HAVING A TODDLER lol. No fun being all cramped up with five other fat butts. While service always has it's ups and downs depending on your waitress it's a good place but I'm not excited to go anymore. I actually try to avoid it cause I'm not an extra sauce on my BBQ kinda girl. I like to Taste the meat with the sauce but not feel like I'm drinking the sauce you know ? My relatives brought me straight here as soon as my plane came in from California. I gotta say that everything here is delicious and the service is amazing! Ordered a sweet tea, which was served pretty much in a barrel. I didn't need a refill; it was so ginormous. Had their brisket sandwich on garlic bread which was so perfect. The brisket was so flavorful. My grandma - thank god for our sweet, patient server - ordered wings, fried with no sauce, and they were perfectly done. I loved Sonny's so much that I came back in again the next day. Sweetest servers ever and the food came out fast. Can't wait to come back in again when I'm in town. read more
