I ordered bi bim bop which I thought was a safe bet when trying out a new restaurant. Luckily, I had cash on me because this is a cash only place. It took like 7 mins to get my food. And let me tell you, it was delicious. Everything had flavor whereas in some restaurants the veggies seem like they're just plopped on top of everything after a quick fire on the grill. The veggies and the noodles at Soon's tasted like integral components of a complete dish; not just afterthoughts. The beef kalbi--omg y'all. My friends korean mom makes it better but not by much. The meat jhun sauce they provide is a must. You can't ever eat meat jhun without sauce. It's full of flavor and sweetness on every bite. There Korean style vegetable sides are always on point. If you are in to more vegetable dishes then the bi bim bap is the way to go. My wife loves there freshly made vegetables on the bi bim bap and our kids like to eat the egg. They have a unique way of making their meat jun, and their meat jun sauce is flavorful. Although the prices rose due to inflation, it is still a great deal because they load their plates, that it could be shared by two. Seen the local singer named Kaipo and another entertainer with him on utube a few days ago and immediately wrote this place down in my notes. They both made it sound amazing and we were so excited to check it out. On 7/17/25 We were the first ones there. Ordered our food, paid and sat down. As soon as we sat down they called our number. We were immediately disappointed before we even seen or tasted our food. It was done way too fast. We knew instantly that the food was already prepared and sitting there before we even arrived. It's so sad that they don't care about their customers to not prepare our food fresh and hot. Why did I even bother trying this place when I already know two good spots. Not sure if the "recipes" were handed down after the change of cooks, but it doesn't taste the same! Right when you get there all you see is the bbq smoke coming from the area and that bbq smell of food coming from the restaurant. Feels homey in a type of way as if you're cooking up your own meal. STOP! Stop, stop, stop, stop stop stop! My head is going to explode if one more person tells me Soon's makes the "best meat jun"! The thinnest piece of beef, about 1/16" thick, coated in an over mixed, glutinous, floury, egg batter tinted by yellow food coloring, fried until it has the feel and texture of an eraser (those things that are atop pencils). How on Earth is that good??? Aside from that, the other "Korean take out" staples are solid: BBQ Chicken - bone in butterflyed thighs, well marinated in sweet ginger soy, grilled with a good char till just done (check the bone, may be undercooked). Kalbi - Well marinated, good amount of flavorful gristle, no complaints. BBQ Beef - Meh. Thin, well marinated, overcooked but flavorful with the unmistakable taste of tomato ketchup in the marinade. Mandoo - Oily but the filling is well seasoned, crisp cabbage and lots of juicy ground pork. Three banchan included with every plate (no four choice. Kim chee is good if you like it fresh and hot, just saying. Tip: The family pack offers the best value. Everything freezes well. Rice and veg not included but can be added on for a nominal charge.
