Hadn't been here in 15+ years so it was nostalgic to be back here! Service was nice enough and then we remembered that it was mostly good here, not overly great but fine. Coffee was fine, food was fine. Interesting mix of patrons. Servers seem to have been there a long time. Wish I could give a 3.5 rating.

Light breakfast with scrambled instead of poached eggs. Their gluten free bread is some of the best I've had.

Checked out this cute little place for brunch today as my friend is opening a business near by so wanted to support the neighbours. First of all, this place is SO CUTE. The decor is super retro and fun, and you'll never get tired of staring at everything! If you're prone to overstimulation, however, it might be a bit much for you lol. There was no wait and our server was super nice. Food came out really fast and was definitely a decent breakfast and I thought the prices were fair, about $20 each. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary, but definitely a standard diner breakfast if you're into that. I actually did think their fruit cup was really great though. Not the standard banana and melon boring stuff. The room was definitely more impressive than the food, but there's nothing to complain about there either. It's a super convenient location to meet with friends after shopping or taking one of the many exercise classes near by. If you're looking for a place that unique and instagramable, I definitely recommend it!!

The food and service were fine but I'm insulted by their shady practice of having their clients tip on the GST. My food was $39.00 and the GST was $1.95. They added those totals together before the tip as you will see in the attached photo. 15% should be $5.85 Their "tip guide" shows $6.14 (I paid 15% on my 5% tax) Shady AF!

    Hash browns sub-par.

What slightly irritated me was that they charge premium but give you low quality food. Even though, the staff seemed nice enough....I don't go out to eat to make friends. Why pretend to be a high end trendy brunch place and charge $20 per plate, when you can just rock serving good-old-fashioned grub grill scrapes and charge half that...and own it! Own what you do, stand up for it and be true to who you are. Ok...maybe I'm taking this a bit too seriously, but that's how it felt. The Greek Benny. Well. I didn't taste any feta at all. I asked for medium poached and got soft, and speaking of soft....the hash browns were soft and old instead of fresh and crispy. The two english muffins were sitting in a puddle of sauce. Guess what happens when you dip bread in sauce...it becomes what?.....Soggy. So, I had sauce underneath and on top of the english muffin and it tasted like I was having egg yolk sponge for breakfast. The French toast was just very very average definitely not worth the price point. I think the whole experience was more of a surprise than anything. It's like if you see a little girl selling lemonades on her street and after she hands you a cup....it's $25 please Sir! Cute. Yes. Trying. Maybe. But a rip off? Definitely.

The quality has gone down significantly. The food is unflavored. I ordered their eggs Benedict with the cornbread (their special of the day) and left feeling like I could've made this better at home. I had to douse my food in hot sauce to feel even remotely satisfied. The beans felt like they opened a can and just heated it up. Potatoes were... mushy, bland, very very boring. Mid would be an over exaggeration. A bummer for a potato lover like me. It's saddening because my friends and I loved going here when we're in town, but this was our last time. Service was okay until it wasn't. We waited over 20 minutes for our server to return to pay. Our party of 7 was seated fast as a walk in which is a plus, but that may be the only plus.

Finally visited this gem of a diner in Kitsilano and I now know what the hype is about. The portions are huge and the interior makes you feel like you are in a movie and are dining in a classic retro diner. We Ordered: Eggs & Specialty Sausage $20.50 -- Choice of Chorizo, Italian, Turkey or Lamb Merguez. Served with 2 eggs any style, breakfast potatoes and toast Benedicts with Bacon $19.50 -- Poached eggs on an english muffin with homemade hollandaise and breakfast potatoes Waffles With Berries and Whipped Cream $17.50 Coffee $3.95 Orange Juice $5.00 Everything was delicious. My boyfriend mentioned that the Italian sausage was very similar to the one he had in Italy over the summer. I personally loved how crispy the bacon was. Also, the poached egg was cooked perfectly I just wish the breakfast potatoes were a bit crispier. It should be noted that we weren't offered water and no one offered to refill my coffee until we asked for the bill (I was really hoping I could get more than 1 cup of coffee in the +60 minutes we were there) :(

A fun diner, good food with lots of eclectic things to look at everywhere. The server was friendly and engaging, happy I stumbled onto this place!

These burgers are out of this world @sophiescosmiccafe! Loving their cosmic workout burger with the patty covered in cheddar cheese, tons of mushrooms and crispy applewood smoked bacon. Super delicious! And nothing wrong with having their scrambled eggs, bacon with a side salad... gotta get some greens and salad! Nice vibe coming here!

Cute place! Sometimes I like kitschy decor and sometimes I hate it, but this place, despite being really cheesy, didn't feel over the top. I didn't get as good a look at all of it as I would've liked to, but I thought the shelf of sports trophies was particularly funny. Also the placement with the kid's drawing was so cute! Anyway, I'd never seen a reason to visit this restaurant because I'd had a few friends describe it as "hangover food", which is not something I have much use for, but another friend suggested it for lunch and I actually thought it was pretty good! The food came out amazingly fast after we ordered, yet everything tasted freshly prepared. I had the Jimmy's Greek Benedicts. I'd definitely say the flavours skewed more Spanish than Greek, and it was lighter on the feta than I was expecting, but nonetheless I really liked the sauce. The eggs were poached perfectly (the menu says that soft is the default if you don't specify, but the waitress still checked with me). I don't consider myself much of a potato fan, but I loved the breakfast potatoes! I liked that they weren't deep fried so they weren't greasy, dry, or crunchy, the green onions on top were a nice touch, and the house hot sauce was great. The portion size was generous, and I finished the whole thing but felt super full after - if it had been any larger I would've taken some home, but it was right in that sweet spot where I was just able to finish. I also got a crème brûlée shake. I asked if I could get the milk replaced with almond milk and they said yes and didn't charge extra. They serve it in a glass but give you the "overflow" in a metal cup, and there was about as much extra in the cup as there was milkshake in the glass, so although I finished the whole thing by myself (to my own surprise), you could easily split one. I would probably go for one of the many more distinct flavours next time since the crème brûlée just tasted like a slightly custardy vanilla, but it was a really good shake and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sprinkles and cherry on top were a nice touch. I will say I think it's a little overpriced. Despite the generous portions, it is just diner food, and paying almost $30 (more with the tax and tip) for a benny ($19) and milkshake ($7.5) was a little disheartening. I would expect even really good diner food to be at a more affordable price, like maybe $16 max for the benny? The milkshake price was more justifiable because it was basically 2 milkshakes, but still I'd hope to pay ~$6 for this at a diner? But realistically, their rent in this neighbourhood might be high enough that this is what they actually have to charge to make ends meet so I don't want to judge them too harshly - I was just surprised that I ended up spending as much as I would've spent at one of Vancouver's bougie brunch spots at what looks like a diner. Our waitress was nice and perfectly attentive until we were done eating, where we sat around for a while after we were done waiting for her to take my friend's plate. My friend did have some salad left which I guess the waitress might've just been waiting for her to finish, but it was quite a long wait without her touching the salad that I was a little surprised we had to sit around for. After finally trying this place, I see why it remains so popular! It's not the place I'd chose to bring people visiting from out of town or recommend to tourists - I'd chose something a little more unique for that - but for people who live around here it's definitely a fun place to check out, and I'd be happy to visit again.

I'm sorry , even though they're pretty much an institution when it comes to brekky in Kits , they've let me down . Again . You know something's up when they charge the same for cappuccino and drip coffee . And their waffles , seriously , I can find better ones at Costco's frozen aisle . Betcha they couldn't care less !

This is a solid brunch spot with good servings and food. You will definitely feel full after a meal. The environment is very casual and easygoing vibes. The food is more comfort food. The eggs benny are good but not mindblowing. The eggs are runny and the hashbrowns are hardy and yummy. The pancakes are also huge! Would recommend if you are in the Kits area!

I chose to sit outside on the patio instead of inside at the bar to take in that Canadian Vitamin D! It was sunny and hot, but the patio had a great view and was perfect for people-watching. My server, Dursh (or something close to that), was really cool. He asked my name, made me feel welcomed, and gave solid recommendations. He even picked my drink for me, which I ended up enjoying. He suggested a Benedict dish, but I'm not a fan of runny eggs. I had already decided on the El Camino poutine and plot twist....it also came with two runny poached eggs. Even so, it was still delicious, mainly because the yolk texture wasn't an issue with the crema on the dish. That poutine was an easy 9/10. It came loaded with cheese curds, pork carnitas that weren't dry at all, bacon, pinto beans, roasted pineapple for a little sweetness, salsa, jalapeños, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro crema, and spinach. The herb potatoes were seasoned so well too. All in all, a great last meal in Vancouver from the food to the service (even beyond Dursh, everyone was helpful) to the patio vibe. Great spot.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us.
