I actually celebrated my birthday here because it's one of my favorite spots. I am part of the large group that one of the recent negative reviews is referring to. It happened immediately after the USA FIFA match, and the restaurant was the busiest I've ever seen it. Despite that, Karin still went out of their way to accommodate our requests that normally wouldn't be possible due to the rush, including trying to help with separate tabs when they'd already explained that large groups would likely need to stay on one check. As for things like grabbing water, silverware, plates, or chili flakes...our table had already gotten those before a majority of the group arrived. It's a casual pizzeria, on one of their busiest days ever. Setting and cleaning up the table (especially when seated outside) is not a problem for our group as we do it every week. Which is why it's upsetting that we opened our spot to someone that left such a nasty review. What stood out to me wasn't poor service. It's that despite how overwhelming it must have been to work post-FIFA, Karin was able to take orders, bartend, serve food, and close out checks with professionalism. Sometimes no matter how much effort someone puts in, not everyone leaves happy. The pizza is fantastic! I love showing up every week and trying what new slice they have come up with (in the year that I've been coming here there legit hasn't been a repeat). The atmosphere is great and the staff, especially Karin, have earned our loyalty over the past year. We'll absolutely continue coming back.

Sauce has a nice sweetness from tomatoes without veering too sweet and the cheese is super stretchy. Perfect amount of salt and the pepperonis were nice and crunchy without being burnt. I had the infamous meatball sandwich and my wife had the chicken carbonara. They gave us each a slice of their pizza for free as they had a bit extra from one that just came out of the oven. The food was prepared in front of you which is always interesting to watch and the charming brick pizza oven was directly in front of us so we could watch that process as well. Pretty cool. There are a wide variety of pizzas and pastas, desserts and drinks (alcohol too!) available on the menu. We ate at at the bar and had a wonderful conversation with the owners as they bustled about in the open cooking area. I enjoyed my meatball sandwich which had great crunchy crusty bread that held in the contents of melted cheese, red sauce and meatballs. A great choice to get when there. No seasoning or shredded cheese, or Italian seasoning. Served in a plastic to go container that cost 1.85 extra bc it was to go since they wouldn't allow us to sit w outside food. Although it was empty and we weren't taking anyone else's table. The place is clean. And bright. I also paid for the container for my bread. The food was bland and boiled chicken just made it worse.

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. One of the best things about life and being alive! Can you tell I am a bit of a pizza rat haha? Anyhow, I was enjoying the beautiful summer night in Seattle and was hungry around 9:30pm. A lot of places are closed already but this reliable pizza place was open. SWEET!! I walked in and lady working the counter was super nice and helpful. I got a slice of Italian supreme, which has everything. Now looking back though I wish I had gotten one of their Turkish dishes as I would have liked to try their lahmacun and read another Yelpers review and this place is supposed to have the best Turkish lahmacun in the US. Oh well, I guess I will be back! The woman heated up my slice and after a few minutes, it was ready. I took my slice and went to sit outside near Pioneer Square so I could be outside and people watch. Pizza was tasty and solid, but the crust was too dry. I have a feeling the slice wasnt the most fresh, so thats why the crust was a bit dry. But, if you know me, I do jot like soggy pizza (I mean - who does??), so a bit drier isn't too big an issue. The rest of the slice was good. Slice of pizza and a diet coke came to close to $9. Gosh things are so expensive now. They do have a special of 2 slices for $8.99 but I couldnt eat two slices.
