I was craving Bun Bo Hue but the daughter who runs the place said her mom is still in the back making it which takes over ten hours because they slow cook pork bones to make the fabulous broth. Totally not an issue with me since they offer so many other authentic dishes. This time I got the Shrimp, Pork and Pork Hock Bahn Cahn. Bahn Cahn is a Vietnamese udon noodle soup. These udon noodles are thick, chewy and made with tapioca or rice flour. It's different than Japanese udon. The soup was light yet umami and the pork hock was fall off the bone tender. Delicious. Even better with their chili oil, which they also make in house. It's not on the table so make sure to ask for that, it has a complex lemongrass flavor and is divine! They also have another chili oil (the one with the pink cap) that's not made in house but is extremely spicy if you want to amp up the heat. The quality of each item on my sandwich was bad, the tomato bread was no soft, sweet & fresh like it use to be, the tomatoes & lettuce are not organic like it use to be, the portions of turkey were two slices of protein and hardly any & the cheese was not the original smoked guda it used to be, but an off brand out of a plastic bag sold at a grocery store... the bravo sauce was watered down and hardly any of it on the sandwich. This was the worst sandwhich Iv had in years and it saddens me, as I use to love this company.
