First off, let me start by saying their acai bowls are delish!! I ordered a mini(son), Nutella bowl(husband), as well as the almond butter bowl(mine) - my son, husband and I are huge fans. My son kept giving me a thumbs up and doing the happy dance LOL. My husband kept saying how delicious it was and said he needs to try the PBJ next. I was a huge fan of all the crunchiness of the granola and the cacao nibs. - These were ordered via Uber eats and delivered to our home. Drink wise, my son & daughter loved the avocado smoothie.. husband was a fan of his iced latte (w/ and extra shot). I on the other hand wish my iced matcha had more of the matcha flavor than the milk. I'll def have to request to tweak my order a bit the next time. - These were personally ordered on site. Had another good açaí bowl this weekend at the Old Town location after a Farmers Market trip. I got the Nutella bowl and it was tasty. Also a latte and I appreciated the employees candor when I almost got it with cashew milk and asked if that was a good choice. Where have I been hiding? After a run yesterday through Old Town, I noticed a sign for South Block and it was right about closing time. Walked in, was impressed with the menu and went back early this morning. I've been looking for a great Acai Bowl place since my favorite one in the U.S. is in Huntington Beach CA... South Block is a new addition to Old Town. They offer smoothie bowls, smoothies, coffee drinks, and a few other options including Avocado Toast. Overall, my experience was ok, but nothing special. Location: This is location is a couple blocks off the river in Old Town and close to other shops/restaurants, making it a convenient spot. Food: Ordered a magic dragon smoothie bowl, which has dragon fruit in it. It was VERY underwhelming. The smoothie part was very bland. The taste was not good. The texture was not right. The fruit on top of the smoothie was NOT fresh and seemed like it had been cut days ago. Service: Customer service was pretty friendly, but the service overall was slow. Hopefully, the longer this is open the faster they get, but for right now I would not recommend this place if you are in a rush. Its delicious chilled and healthy. Real fresh ingredients and super filling. I ordered the California Bowl every single time. It is time to switch it up so I'm thinking the Aqua Bowl will be next. The recent preparation of the bowls and smoothies are compromised by the constant staff changes. Since then I have rejected three bowls and two smoothies for lack of the way they are supposed to be prepared and taste.Company owner should have more eyes on hand to avoid this place from going down hill. Business may be doing well but customer service which includes how food is prepared is suffering. My rating is based on these recent issues. read more

Yummy açaí bowls, large portions, wide assortment of toppings, and friendly faces behind the counter. Not much more to write about this place. Açaí bowls sort of sell themselves, imo. I ordered the aqua bowl and added goji berries (for an additional fee) as well as honey (one of their complimentary toppings). It was huge and delicious! I went here looking for some avocado toast and was not disappointed! Not only is the menu super affordable, but what I ate was really good! The avocado toast has great flavor! The only thing I'd be wary of is the location, this South Block is located inside of a business facility and therefore wasn't a very quiet or relaxed place to eat. I got Super Green. I was excited for their kale and spinach smoothie for the superfood flavor. I enjoyed it but it was a little too thick. I couldn't figure out what was added to my smoothie that made it thick. It was a little sweeter than I had hoped for. Was it with the $10? Not really. But I love smoothies so I'm not a smoothie snob although I'm not sure if I'll be getting Super Green at this establishment again. I will, however, give their açaí bowl a try! After speaking with the business owner, who was open to feedback, my wife and I decided to swing by with the kids after a trip to the farmers market. I got the nitro coffee (really the only coffee I drink) and my wife got a decaf iced latte with almond milk. Our little one was hungry, but not too hungry and we were able to buy a banana, which was perfect! All of this came to just under 10$, which is pretty reasonable for the DMV metro area. I'm a fan of South Block and this location is no exception. It's in the same building as Vikriya lab which seems purposeful. Work out first and then you can be rewarded with a healthy treat from South Block? That's a win to me! South Block has a variety of smoothies, coffees, acai bowls, and other food items on their menu. I opted for the tropi-kale smoothie; I figured after a workout I should have something that was both sweet and healthy. Located about a block away from the waterfront, the acai bowls here are Pretty tasty. Good amount of acai and fruit (although more fruit could never hurt). Its a little on the pricey side with the one we got coming in around 11 bucks but i wouldn't say its completely unreasonable for what you're getting. read more

The staff couldn't be friendlier, and the place has a nice community feel to it. If you are in a hurry, you can order online and get a text when your order is ready. It will be waiting in a little fridge on the counter, so you can just walk in and pick it up. Super convenient! If you are a frequent visitor, sign up for their reward program. South Block apparently defends their app's default tip feature as ethical. It is not ethical, it is not transparent and it is not in the customers' best interest. South Block responded to my review with the indisputably false claim that they "let everyone know that they can set a tip to zero." No one from South Block is proactively telling app users they don't need to leave a tip nor that they will be charged a tip by default. Inevitably some app users check out and pay for their order without even realizing that a tip has been automatically added. Others will see a tip was automatically added but struggle to figure out how to remove it. Some from that second group will remain unclear how to remove the tip and IF they take the extra time to ask South Block staff in person in the store THEN South Block will "let everyone know that they can set a tip to zero." "Everyone" in this case are South Block customers who have placed app orders because efficiency is important and they want to minimize the time spent in the store. Then they struggled to remove the tip and remained unclear how to do so. Troubleshooting the issue requires they ask South Block staff directly in the store so the customer must either (1) place the app order and pay for it and the tip or (2) forego that app order and future order until he has made a trip to the store to inquire in-person for tech support. To take all those measures in order to learn how to exercise one's tip autonomy, a customer must not only bother with the inconvenience of an onsite visit and troubleshooting discussion but must also be comfortable presenting himself in-person and face-to-face with South Block employees as someone who is unapologetically NOT okay with including $1.15 in gratitude for staff's service. It would only be natural for many to feel a degree of embarrassment and shame telling an employee "I do not want to tip you or your co-workers. I love South Block and I'm so glad they are expanding locations. I highly recommend for a light, fresh meal or snack. The health nut smoothie is my favorite. They have smoothies, juices, açaí bowls, fancy toasts, wraps, and desserts available. The space is also nice for hanging out, working or reading a book. South Block is my favorite! Love the warrior bowl. Today I opted for a golden smoothie filled with delicious cashew milk, turmeric, and ginger among a few other ingredients. Only downside is, I think I paid extra for adding more ginger and I don't think they put any ginger in at all! Oh well, maybe next time. Love their latte but horrible service. I came once with my friend to try it- never been there before . So, the first time we had an amazing experience. But When I went back again I was disappointed . Really cool spot. Starting to see more of these live-work spaces popping up. Downstairs is the cafe, they have a really great menu of smoothies and bowls. Tried the beet berry latte... surprisingly delicious. Love the free classic arcade table in the corner... service was spot on, clean space, great food. Only drawback is lack of power access. I think this is because the "work" space is upstairs and this is more of the energize-escape-chill part of the building.
