I stopped here on the way home from a funeral. Sadly I tried to like this place because of all the great reviews. I know they're short staffed here, which is why I gave it more than 2 stars. I got the Red Beans and Rice and it was so dry it tasted like refried beans and sticky rice. My son ordered a grouper sandwich, and it was dry and they're supposed to be known for their fish. My daughter ordered gator bites with mashed potatoes and her gator bites were so small and tough, she didn't even finish the plate and it was $16.99 or something like that for it. Such a shame, because I know they're supposedly decent, but it just wasn't good.

You have got to eat here!!! If you don't, you will be missing out! This wonderful restaurant is worth the detour from ... wherever you are, really. We were traveling on I-75, and we are so glad we took the 5 minute detour. We arrived around 1100 on a Sunday, and waited about 15 minutes. Walking to our table, we passed patrons who were devouring biscuits and gravy, eggs, and chicken. It all looked so good!! We received both breakfast and lunch menus. Both menus were a mix of traditional American food and Louisiana Cajun food. (Keep in mind Cajun is very flavorful, and not necessarily spicy). It was so difficult to decide what to eat, because everything sounded so good!! I will be back to try something else. :) I was interested in the Nachos. And they were delicious!!! The base of these nachos were an extremely flavorful Cajun type potato chip. They were loaded with cheese, shredded roast beef, mushrooms, onion, green peppers, banana peppers, and covered in their beautiful Debris Gravy. I was surprised at how much meat there was! It had to be close to a pound. The gravy is the most flavorful thing I've ever tasted. My Dining Partner got a HUGE salad with a fried chicken breast. Their homemade Ranch dressing was incredible. The chicken was extremely moist and the breading was crunchy. She loved the freshness of the salad, and all of the vegetables that came as part of it. We also got a side of Fries with Debris Gravy, and she, too, was overwhelmed with how good the gravy was. If you are in the area, meaning within 60 miles, you should not miss out!! I wish everyone would be able to taste this menu!! It is sooooo good!!! Please, do yourself a favor, and eat here. IT IS WORTH IT!!! You can thank me later!!! :)

By far my favorite hometown family run cafe. The Florida Cracker meets with the Louisiana Gumbo, Boudin, Jambalaya, Andouille, Po' boy, Beignets and so much more. Freshly cooked daily by the Rogers family. Breakfast & Lunches that are plentiful, fresh, hot and always consistent. Don't be in a rush, there are times you have to wait for a table either inside or out on the covered patio with fans.

I am so happy that I found this place. Talk about a diamond in the rough or finding the needle in the haystack! I so love Yelp for amazing finds such as this one. From the moment I walked in I knew I was going to love this family, local restaurant. I could feel the love and joy emanating from the kitchen. Everyone had a story, they all knew each other just awesome. So I sit down and everything on the menu sounds so tasty. I asked the waitress to surprise me and get me something. She did great. She got me the Gator quesadilla with onion rings. Can I just say "wow" from every bite I took. The Roumalade sauce and the Cajun spices where on point. It had just enough cajon with southern flare that my taste buds where dancing with joy but not running because of the heat. The gator tasted outstanding and the mix of the boudin with cheese like come on was it good. I also took to go a gator and shrimp PO boy to my pastor and he eat the entire thing and said that's the best poboy I've had. I'm telling you it was all extremely satisfying.

Saw this place on the map while looking for brunch on the way out of Tampa and so glad we stopped here! We were seated outside which was slightly enclosed with heaters to keep it warm but the wind still made it a bit chilly so bring layers. The menu was almost overwhelming with the number of options, all of which looked delicious. We ended up with a burger and the dirty bird with rice and gravy. We were both very happy with our orders and the prices were very reasonable. For dessert, we split a slice of the wrec pie which might have been the best part of the meal (other than the dirty bird fried chicken). Service was a bit slow and there is only one bathroom for everyone so there was a lot of waiting around but other than that, we left very happy.

Oh my gosh, what a great staff! We did have to wait to be seat for about 15 minutes cause they were packed but it worth the wait tha food was delicious and the prices were pretty good too. Definitely coming back.

We found this place through Yelp and we are glad we stopped in. The reviews are on point. The food is prepared to order, the staff is friendly and efficient. When the chef/ owner came around to check how everything was received he was friendly and knowledgeable. It is small (7 tables), so timing will determine how long your wait will be, but it is worth the wait. We will be back. read more

Southern cooking MUST have good white gravy! The sausage gravy here is not good! It's greasy. Like bacon greasy. Biscuits were excellent, but they charged me an extra dollar to opt for the biscuit instead of the toast..(?) Friendly, clean, and otherwise good (not great). read more

I stopped here after canoeing the Withlacoochee and I am so glad I did. You can tell this spot is a favorite with the locals. They have a great menu and daily specials. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly & the owners are absolutely lovely. I had the boudin, fried green tomatoes, & brisket with mashed potatoes & collards. I also took some banana pudding home and EVERYTHING was excellent. The brisket melted in your mouth, the boudin was super tasty & the fried green tomatoes were perfectly sliced, breaded & cooked. If I ever find myself in the area again stopping in is a must. read more

Authentic southern and Cajun food. Very good!! What a find 5 miles before you get to the dog show venue just past Groveland FL. Had fried shrimp and a side of collard greens. Yummy. For dessert Beignets very good. Small cozy place just open for breakfast and lunch until 2 pm. I will definitely go back. Staff very friendly and attentive too read more

A quaint restaurant serving up home cooked Southern deliciousness. Make sure you stop by for a bite on the way to Orlando when exiting 75 at Brooksville or when heading south to Tampa. This little Cajun twist of superbly done food is only about 5 miles east off of I-75 south at exit 301! read more

A family of six, we stopped in on Mon on our way to Dade City. The family that runs the cafe is just the sweetest! The service was phenomenal! So personable and on top of every little need. The atmosphere is very comfortable and love the décor! The food was delicious from the hamburgers, pulled pork and chicken strips to the fries, sweet tater fries and onion rings! We stopped in on our way home from Groveland for a late lunch. As it turns out the menu was so interesting (Cajun, Cracker, and Southern) we had an early dinner. We had french fries with debris gravy to hold us until our Cajun Shrimp and Grits came. OMG! Then we ordered to go Boudin with crawfish, Beignets and Pecan Praline coffee to enjoy later. The Family runs a great little restaurant. They are friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. The place is very clean. The Service was excellent. We will definitely go back. read more

Excellent place on SR 50 that we enjoyed on a post-hike Sunday meal. Ordered the tender brisket sandwich and the sides were delicious. I also recommend the blue bayou pie with whipped cream. This restaurant is a delight, I highly recommend! read more

Five stars all the way even though they're deserving of more! Yes, we really were that impressed with this diner! There were four in our party plus a take-out platter, everyone ordered something different including a take-out patter and it was all excellent. The owners made us feel like we stepped into their own home being very attentive to ensuring we had an enjoyable meal. Really, one could not ask for better food, nor better service! Buffalo, NY native here!! We now reside in Ocala, FL. This past Memorial Day weekend we stayed in the Tampa area to visit some friends. Sadly the hotel we stayed in didn't offer breakfast due to Covid. I went on Yelp to search places for breakfast/brunch and this gem had the best ratings, (5 star rating to be exact) and after reading that they're a family owned restaurant I knew there was no other place we would stop at. I will always support local! Furthermore, once we were seated, we were informed that they weren't doing breakfast. (We sat down at 11:30am) We were extremely bummed as we were already prepared to order after reading the menu the night before. We honestly were ready to get up and leave. Our server (for give me, we didn't catch her name) took it upon herself to ask the chef (Anthony) if he could make some thing work for us. She came back and said he would make a batter of pancakes for us. Although, I for one really wanted to try the bourbon pecan pancakes I was in no way going to be picky. The staff was extremely accommodating and we are so grateful and thankful for them doing so, especially for putting up with us at the beginning when we were quite upset. I will be back for sure as the food was exceptional and the staff was truly amazing to us. This place surely makes you feel like family. Thank you all so much for all that you did for us. Stumbled onto this cute southern cafe. Family owned and literally family operated. Father and son are cooking in the back and the mother and daughter are serving tables. The food was super good and reasonably priced. A must stop if in the area, and a great place to go out of your way to eat there. We will definitely be back!! read more

Southern Harmony was born out of a desire to bring our guests the flavor and feel of our two home-states in a warm ,welcoming, small-town atmosphere. My husband is a native of Florida, and I am native of Louisiana. Together we bring a unique blend of both Cajun and Cracker influences to the table for you to enjoy. We offer plenty of familiar southern favorites, but keep things interesting with a variety of new and exciting food and beverage options not found anywhere else in the state! Come join us at the place that's harmonizing the feel and flavor of the two boots with southern roots, today!

History

Established in 2016.

We opened officially to the public March 13th 2016. Our business has steadily grown thanks to a loyal and very supportive home town, and has just recently celebrated our 1 year anniversary! We have had the privilege of serving our own community that we love, as well as welcoming guests from all over the world! We are small in size but big on friendliness and southern-sized portions and flavors to match. Our guests have and continue to become like family to us. The building we occupy was once owned by a family who operated a gas station out of it for some time, then it transitioned into a realty office (we signed the papers and became first time land-owners here.) Then it enjoyed a period of being a pizza shop. A few years later after a brief time of vacancy our place was opened in this little place we like to call The Manor

It was also the perfect portion. Any more and I would have felt guilty for eating them all (I never leave a potato bite behind). And... after craving bacon for about a month... I gave in and got some-nice big slices, thick and crispy. This was a happy and tasty surprise. A clean, casual, yummy place with plenty of parking. I will be back to Brunchies a bunch(ies).

Stopped by this afternoon for lunch. We split the cajun shrimp appetizer. It was WAY to salty. Way. Ordered two waters. The water was poor quality. Taste like the lines were dirty. Moving on to the food. My partner ordered the fried shrimp poo boy with sweet potato fries. That was okay. I ordered the gator sausage special with red beans and rice. The gator sausage was undercooked and pink. The beans and rice were VERY blah. Not to mention they charged extra for that side calling it an upgrade. The service was overly nice and the prices were in my opinion too high for the quality food put out. We will not be back and do not recommend this place. read more

I use to eat there because of an employee that worked there until he was fired over a dumb thing like take orders from the bosses 6 yr old child if he didn't do it he got lectured and eventually got fired fir not doing so. Also when I did go to eat I was bothered every 5 minutes and could not enjoy a meal at all and the service is pretty slow. I did not give this review a one star because of what happened I gave it because of kids running the business, slow service, and being pestered every 5 minutes I have even seen them pester other patrons!! read more

Great service great food. Family owned family run southern harmony is our favorite cafe. We run a fishing guide service and they make our breakfast lunch and dinner stops easy affordable and guaranteed you won't leave there hungry. All their steaks are hand cut of the highest quality.
