I walked in and it smelled like an old mop bucket. I was short on time so I needed something, regardless of my first impression. I was greeted with a very friendly and welcoming hello. I ordered a meatball sub. It was mediocre because the meatballs and sauce were great but the bread was chewy like rubber. 2 stars for excellent service. read more

Got the smokey. Supposed to be smoked turkey, NOT. tasted like regular deli meat to me. My personal opinion is 3/4 bread and 1/4 meat. So the ratio was off and the bread overpowered the sandwich(see pic). Otherwise it probably might have been better. Firehouse theme. Staff was friendly. The bathroom paint job was a mess, lol, as the pictures show. Floor was dirty. I think subway has a better tasting sandwich.The prices on the board are not accurate. Kinda high for a sandwich. Ordered through Doordash when they first opened, so maybe they were using last nights bread or something but the wife and I each had the worst sandwiches we have ever had. It's 2017, and Sparky's continues to hold on. I for one am glad they have, and I do try to swing in to grab a few subs whenever I'm near. I love their bread. It's soft and sweet, and is a pleasured mess when fully laden with meats and fixin's. The young folks in there are always friendly, and very much care about their product. I am surprised this place is still open. They never get your order right, they use a microwave on anything warm, even their crackers tasted stale (they showed me the box and expiration date as proof they were not, so...cheap crackers?). The location is really bad, very few parking spaces and a super busy lot, you literally have to park where cars turn in off of Mission. This place has several shirts hanging up that say "Friends don't let friends eat Subway", so I am going to do a side by side comparison. Portion Size - They are pretty equal here, both for the size of the sandwich and the price, unless you factor in Subway has a much greater variety of sauces and veggies than here, then Subway edges here. Prices are also pretty comparable. Variety - Meat selection is pretty equal, but as I mentioned before Subway wins the veggie category. Subway also wins for more kinds of bread. Friendliness - Pretty upbeat and friendly here. Some Subways do a good job on this and some are terrible, so Sparky's wins this round. Atmosphere - Most Subways give the feeling of a cafeteria or that being being shoved through a cattle shoot to get your lunch then get the heck out. This place is roomy, and the firefighter theme is pretty fun. If nothing else at least it is different. Sparky's wins again. So, in comparison to Subway, the chain may have a slight edge. However, I prefer to support local business so I will probably frequent this place more just because of that. Also, tossing the Subway comparison out the window, these guys do a really good job as a stand alone sandwich stop. So buy local, eat local, eat at Sparky's! read more

This sandwich shop has been in Spokane for a long time...I used to go there when they had a shop on Monroe back in the 90's. It's still so good! It's tucked away off Mission in a plain little spot...but it's clean, easy parking, friendly staff and GREAT sandwiches! They have a wonderful meatball sandwich. I had a ham with swiss and pineapple and my friend had a turkey....everything is delicious and he prices are good. read more

I don't usually rite reviews but our experience at sparky's subs was so bad I thought I'd share. I'd give this place zero stars if that was an option. The place was dirty. The chili was cold. I watched her grab the chili cup with her bare hands with her fingers inside the bowl then poor the chili into it. Then I watched her chop up onions on a dirty counter and throw in the dirty bowl with cold chili in it. The meatball sub was not editable. I think they were precooked frozen meatballs they were microwaved and covered in spaghetti sauce. Then she messed up when I was paying and then treated me like it was my fault. Its too bad we had such a bad experience because I really wanted to like this place. read more

I really enjoyed the food, it seems kinda like a tipping atmosphere and was like $7.50 for a half and $9.00 for a whole (a bit weird of a split, I'd suggest at most 6.50 for half) was worth it. Much bigger sub than subway. Wow, this place is really good. We were looking for a good sandwich shop and this was close and had good reviews. We stopped in and ordered 5 sandwiches. Felt a bit bad because only one gal was working bit she did great. When we got them, they were huge... Absolutely loaded with meat, and it was super fresh. They slice it right there and put it on your sandwich. I was a bit apprehensive at first when we rolled up because the building doesn't jump out at you or pop but I'm so impressed with the food. Stopped in here with a friend, they have pretty good subs. They are kind of expensive for a sub sandwich though and the amount of meat/quality was average. The service was good and the staff members were very nice. I did like the menu and options they had but I would not make a special trip over to this shop for a sandwich in the future. read more

As a vegetarian, this just wasn't the spot for me. They LOAD piles of meats onto their subs which if you're into that kind of thing I imagine is amazing and my husband enjoyed his sub, but we will probably not be back. read more

Hubby was there this evening to get us sandwiches! We normally love Sparkey's! Tonight however, the woman working was making sandwiches and running the cash register, handling money, all while not changing her gloves! Yuk. Sparkey's should train their employees better! We stopped off at Sparky's Firehouse Subs for a Hazmat sandwich for a picnic at the park. After eating some of it, we found mold on the bottom of the bread. We took it back and ditzy counter person didn't know how to refund the price but did offer to make us a new one. Needless to say, we had already lost our appetites and weren't feeling well - imagine eating a sandwich with a strange tangy taste and finding mold! We came back 15 minutes later to get our sandwich back and counter person wouldn't get the sandwich out of the garbage can and she wouldn't let me retrieve the sandwich out of the garbage can so we could give it to health dept. Owner showed up and she also wouldn't give us our sandwich back. Called SPD and officer claimed it was civil matter and barring a search warrant was unable to force her to give me back my sandwich. Good thing we got pictures! But you have to wonder why they wouldn't just give me my sandwich back. I suspect they have this problem a lot. read more
