Another great time here at Special Noodle. Last time the braised rib noodle dish was delicious and came with a side of seaweed bone broth soup. This time we ordered their salt and pepper chicken and spicy green beans eggplant mixed noodles. Love their meat gravy sauce. Great service and nice indoor decor. Visited Special Noodle yesterday -- a new gem in Chinatown -- and absolutely loved it! We tried several dishes, and everything was incredible: the soup dumplings and fried dumplings were perfection, the leek pockets flavorful, and the braised rib noodles so comforting. Don't skip the coconut egg custard buns -- they're soft, creamy, and the perfect sweet finish. The staff were super friendly, and the whole experience felt genuinely authentic. This is such a hidden gem especially for late night eats. If you have a craving for comfort Chinese food, this is a great option. The menu is extensive with lots of options to choose from, which isn't an always a great thing, but this place makes it work really well and it'll satisfy even the pickiest groups. Ambience is clean, bright, and warm, reminisce of a clean Asian eatery in Chinatown from back home. Everything here is delicious and authentic. I've been here several times now and I try to order at least one new thing every time I come. Wonderful flavors and very generous portions, this restaurant is best suited for a party of four or more. This place is right across from the popular 888 Japanese BBQ - same plaza. A newly opened restaurant, I was eager to try. Upon walking in, you notice some beautiful decor. The ceiling has little bright stars and there's zen fish tanks next to tables. The staff is very welcoming and are quick to greet and seat you. One of the cool things is that they leave a tablet with you for ordering. You can scroll through the menu, look at pictures and order at your own pace. We tried two dishes - Dan Dan Noodles and Kung Pao Chicken with rice (noodle is an option). The Dan Dan noodles is a generous portion. I show a picture of it before it was mixed up. The flavor is different than other Dan Dans but I liked it. The Kung Pao I liked even better. The chicken had a nice crisp pan fry to it and the sauce was excellent. Special Noodle took over the Cafe Sanuki location and has completely revamped the interior. Walking in, you're greeted by the grandiose furniture fit for royalty. The fish tanks look great and give a nice vibe to the room, although I didn't see any actual fish yet. We called ahead to see if they had room for our party of 9, and they told us they did. We locked in our reservation and headed over. Unfortunately, the table was nowhere ready when we showed up 10-15 minutes later as we had said we would. I asked for a menu so I could review it beforehand and was offered a QR code from a business card to scan. They did mention not to order yet as our table wasn't ready. We were finally seated at the one large table by the entrance. It's a very decorative table and chair set, with a lazy susan as well. It can easily fit about 12 diners. Their tableware is quite fancy as well - matching plate, bowl, soup spoon, and chopsticks. We asked if they could do separate checks, and they said they could! We would just order separately. I proceeded to order from the QR code I had scanned earlier and waited. My fellow diners were wondering if the order went through as dine in as it seemed like the instructions indicated a pickup time. We called the waiter over for clarification and was given a different QR code that was connected to our table number. Since we had already ordered, I just let them know which one was mine and that I was dining in. We ordered: * Braised Pork Belly Rice $17.99 - Fatty pork belly and you can't go wrong. 4/5 * Stirfry Potato Strings $18.99 - This is probably the most we have ever paid for this dish. Although there was less per order (6), they were bigger than other places. The Lamb Skewers were also something our friends ordered and would be on our list too. They said they enjoyed it. Their prices are a bit higher than other Chinese restaurants, so it can be a sticker shock to some. Alot of their dishes are meant for sharing, so not ideal for a small party. I'm not sure if they have any other larger tables in the back. Nonetheless, the place was bustling on a Saturday evening. Service was a bit lackluster, and I'm wondering if it was because of where we were seated. We were never given the table QR code to scan, which was just as well since we were all looking at the menu on our phones already. And since we ordered from our phones, there was minimal interaction with the staff. They also just place the water pitcher and cups on the table, so you have to pour it all yourself. Special noodles has very good xlb, especially the subtly sweet crab and pork xlb with crab roe. The downside is they were $20 a basket, but you pay for quality. The wrapper was thin and the soup tasted authentic. Portion size of the other dishes here was big, so this is a good place for eating as a group. We only tried the xlb and Northern style sweet and sour pork. The pork was coated with potato starch and fried to a shattering crisp and lightly coated with a clear tangy and sweet sauce. This dish was closer to the Korean tangsuyuk than the Cantonese sweet and sour pork. I recommend ordering this dish as a big table, but it was too much fried food for a family of 4. Late to reviewing Special Noodle from a previous visit to Vegas. This place is welcoming, and has design elements that really transport you into a different country for your dining experience. Their mini pan fried buns are served on a bridge, for example!! Food here slaps, but the menu can be a bit overwhelming. Definitely not a bad thing: there are tabs dedicated to chicken, beef, and pork that have quite the variety of selections. For similar items, I could not help but to compare against Din Tai Fung as a benchmark. Special Noodle is either on par, or surpasses DTF on most aspects, especially on portion sizes and price point. Ever since I saw that Special Noodle took over the spot that was once occupied by Sanuki, I have been dying to go. I've been waiting and waiting to see when my friends would be available to go with since their menu is extensive and we want to try everything. Well, tonight we went and I must say, we all left severely disappointed. At over 100 reviews with 4.7 stars, I was expecting way better. We got there at around 5PM and there was no wait. There is a QR code at the table and from there, you got to scroll through the menu and ordered whatever your heart desired. There was little to no interaction with the servers. They actually never came around to check on whether or not we were good, if we liked the food, etc. Since we had a party of five, we tried a good amount of items: Pork soup pan fried buns ($13.99) - otherwise known as sheng jian bao, these are typically found at a Shanghai restaurant along side xiao long baos. The execution of the dish was stellar with their soft bao tops and crispy bottoms. They were juicy and if you aren't careful, one bite will have you squirting. However, the soup and the meat were too sweet for me. It was missing sodium and umami-ness. Pass. Onion pancake ($8.99) - was crispy and oily, which was perfect. Taste was OK but it also had a weird chalky after taste to it. They either used too much flour or added cornstarch to their dough that made it not as enjoyable. Pass. Lamb skewer/kebab ($10.99) - this came with three skewers. The chunks were cooked well, nice and tender. However, I'm not quite sure if it's worth the price and it tasted like they brined the skewer so it had a weird saltiness to the meat itself that didn't come from the seasoning. Pass. Chicken gizzard skewer/kebab ($4.99) - texture was a bit off than what I expected of gizzards. I'm not sure if it's because they marinated it beforehand or they cooked it weird? Unsure but pass. Roasted intestine skewer/kebab ($5.99) - texture was great as it was crispy on the outside and had that nice fattiness once you bite into it. Flavor was good as well. Would recommend if you like intestines. Beef stone pot noodle soup ($23.99) - ordered this as original with regular noodles. The dish looked completely different than what was pictured on the menu and was absolutely disgusting. The noodles were overcooked and gummy. The beef was sliced beef instead of chunks (+overcooked and tough) and the soup was salty. I guess they decided to use the sodium for this dish instead of the pan fried dumplings. Hard pass. Spicy lamb mixed noodles ($19.99) - ordered this with noodles. Shaved lamb slices with sauce over a bed of noodles. Came with tofu and egg. The lamb had a good seasoning and the sauce is what gives the noodles flavor. However, the sauce didn't stick to the noodles as well so it turned out pretty bland unless you made sure to eat it with the lamb. The noodles were a great texture though despite the blandness. I wouldn't order it again though so I guess it's a pass. Tinfoil duck blood ($18.99) - duck blood is different from pork blood FYI. The texture is softer and has more of a slippery texture to it. It comes cooked in a numbing spice broth on top of vermicelli noodles. I actually didn't mind this dish and it was pretty good eaten with the noodles. But I wouldn't order this again. Fried pork intestines, kidney, and liver ($26.99) - this was pretty much a liver dish. The pieces of pork intestine and kidney were hard to find and the dish itself was quite small. Sauce wasn't bad though and I would recommend getting steamed rice with it if you're gonna order it. Pass for me. Griddle pig intestines ($25.99) - spicy, fatty, and somewhat crispy. I personally liked the dish. Cumin lamb ($26.99) - shaved lamb with onions. I think the flavor/seasoning was a bit lacking and a bit monotone. It seemed like it was missing something and the dish itself looked very bland. When I typically order this dish elsewhere, it's usually cubed lamb and not shaved. It also typically has some greenery in the dish as well. Pass. Fried coconut rice balls ($9.99) - crispy outside, soft inside with coconut sago. Not exceptionally sweet at all and works great as a dessert. This was my favorite thing that we ordered. Would recommend. Overall, for the price, execution, and flavors, I don't think it's worth it. There are other places in the valley that do these dishes much better. Sure, you get the convenience of having all these dishes in one place vs. having to go to several different places for them but that's not what I'm into. It's full of juice so the meat is juicy. Something we usually don't ever order at this age. But for a new Northern Chinese restaurant, and yelpers keep repeating this as a popular dish, why not. $26.99 Fried Pork Intestine, Kidney and Liver. This is a very sizzling dish. Be careful because oil will splatter far out. In a table for 4, theres only 2 of us and we placed it across from us and it still can splatter to you. Taste wise, it might to be manually mixed. All the meats were soft and moist. Most places usually over cook it. I'm okay about this dish. The SO really liked this dish and sees potential in this place because of it. $2.50 White Rice. I'm really picky with my xiao long baos. I haven't found any restaurants in LA now a days and Vegas that is worth trying. The reviews on it from certain yelper definitely confirms it. Butttt maybe dumplings could be ordered. I'm picky with dumplings too but it seems more promising. Next time we visit, maybe we'll try - cabbage, and potatoes string - dumplings, - other wok/satay type dishes, - Fish or a clay dish - They have peach red bean buns! Out with the old, and in with the new. 四姐 Special Noodle, the first two characters of which apparently mean Fourth Sister, is the first location of this chain in Las Vegas. I've heard good things about their NorCal locations but didn't have time to try one out on my last trip there, so I was happy to learn that I had the opportunity to do so closer to home. I'd spotted them while going to a supermarket at the southeast corner of Decatur and Spring Mountain, so I was familiar with how to get there. Parking was strangely tough to find during Sunday lunch (and it wasn't even that crowded in this restaurant). They've taken over the former site of Cafe Sanuki, which brought back some memories even though they've changed up the layout and decor significantly. The service is nontraditional. You sit down, but then you have to scan a QR code to browse the menu and to order. The full menu isn't quite there yet, most notably some of their made-in-house tea beverages. I'm guessing that you can order multiple rounds, although we got everything all at once. Checks are settled via asking an employee. The first order to arrive was the Pork Belly Noodle Soup ($16.99). It was also the best dish of the meal. The broth is flavorful but not too heavy with all the oil dispersed in it, and it's very lightly sweet. The pork belly was super tender, and the marinade resembled char siu in its sweetness and redness. I enjoyed my choice flat noodles, which are kinda like knife cut noodles but not cut and more uniform. The one thing I could have used was more cilantro. The Steamed Soup Dumplings ($12.99), aka xiao long bao, arrived soon afterward. This was the worst dish of the meal. The broth inside was way too sweet, which is not something I've ever experienced in XLB. Yes, you can use vinegar / soy sauce, but it'd harder to balance strong flavors with more strong flavors. The Salt & Pepper Chicken ($11.99) was a good shareable dish. The crispy pieces of chicken seasoned with maybe a tad bit too much salt, and the meat filling was a bit lacking compared to the breading, but it was enjoyable overall. The Boiled Dumplings ($14.99) were fine. The pork and cabbage filling wasn't amazing. The dumpling worked well with a mix of vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil (just a tiny bit of the latter for me, thanks) and didn't fall apart. The Pork Soup Pan Fried Buns ($13.99) were the one must-try which my Bay Area friend recommended, and she was right. The exterior does resemble the bao buns but are rolled thin and crisped up at the bottom. That part is the best as it's both crunchy and airy. The pork is really really hot inside, but after poking a hole and letting it cool enough, it was nice and juicy. Notably, it was not anywhere near as sweet as the XLB. Why couldn't they have just used this broth in that dumpling? Since only hot tea or pre-packaged drinks were available, I simply used the complimentary house water, which was served iced in a refillable plastic bottle. It was really odd that they threw in a lime wedge without squeezing it at all though. I barely got any lime flavor. Perhaps they should either squeeze the lime for us or let us squeeze it if they're taking on the expense of providing it? I can see myself returning to 四姐 Special Noodle for that excellent pork belly noodle soup and to try the variety of menu items which they have. I just can't rate it higher because it has to fire on all cylinders to justify the pricing. I didn't get to try the skewers, grilled seafood, hot pots, and other apps. Special Noodle House is located on Spring Mountain and Decatur near Twain. There's good parking available. Soft opening was on November 27, 2024. They originally started in Bay Area, this is their tenth location. Inside is clean and spacious with plenty of seating for a table and booth. The dining area is magnificent, very elegant and beautiful with peaceful instrumental music playing, atmosphere feels calm and relaxing. Menu offers a great selection of pastry, beverage, hotpot, special stone pots, house specialty noodles and rice, special pot, clay pot, popular street food, wok fry entrees for pork, chicken, beef, lamb, seafood, option for veggie, chow mein, fried rice, soup, cold dishes, appetizer and sides, beer and wine. Started with Hot Jasmine Flower tea, it comes with the teapot. Cucumber Salad ($11.99) and Chinese Celery with bell pepper and Dried Beancurd Sticks ($12.99) is excellent! This is a cold dish that's light, appetizing, and very refreshing! Veggie Stuffed Pancakes (6 pieces, $6.99) is good and tasty! It's pan-fried Chinese pancake. Inside has rice, corn, green beens, carrots, and a subtle hint of cumin. The stuffed pancake is a little oily, it's good to enjoy this with a refreshing cucumber and tofu salad to offset the excess oil. Prawn Chow Fun ($16.99) is wonderful and delicious! Noodles are nice, chewy, and flavorful sautéed with succulent shrimp, bean sprouts, carrots, and scallions, it's really good! Sesame Ball (8 pieces, $9.99) is perfect! It has a lovely and crispy exterior, soft and chewy with yummy sweet red bean filling, it's amazing and a personal favorite. Service from Jerry and Atlas is very kind, welcoming, attentive, and friendly. They're accommodating and super helpful! Came here because my husband and I were craving Chinese food and it was a great experience! We ordered these dishes: - pork noodle soup 10/10 Noodles were aldente and the pork was super tender! It tasted like the pork was marinated in a char sui sauce. The pork was very fatty as well. - Pork Soup Pan Fried Bun 10/10 Crispy on the bottom, huge pork meat in the middle and the soup was delicious. - Red Oil Won Tons 9/10 Tasty, but wish there was more meat filling. The ratio to wrapper to meat wasn't balanced. - Black Golden Sweet Custard Buns 7/10 The bun was super soft and fluffy, but the filling was had a very eggy taste more than custard. - Beef Wrap 9/10 This dish tasted like hoisin sauce and it lacked meat. Again the wrapper to meat ratio wasn't balanced. The veggies were fresh though. The service was great! We ordered through the QR code and the kitchen got the order and the server delivered it.
