I've been going to Speedee for about 80,000 miles, while the price for an oil change is competitive and worth it for me not to do it myself, the price for air filters (engine and cabin air, if equipped) is not so cheap. I can get both for the price of what they charge for one at the local parts dealer. A little markup over retail I can understand, but not 20% to 30% Until my last trip, I would have given 5 stars. What earns the 3 stars is when they did replace my air filter, they neglected to clasp not one, not two, but all three clips that hold the air cleaner housing. After a day or so I starting hearing a throatier sound when I accelerate after having service there a week ago. Today while washing my car and checking everything under the hood is when I noticed the air filter. Not happy that something like this went unnoticed before they closed the hood. Good Friday...It definitely wasn't good Friday when I took my vehicle in for brake pads servicing , along with the brake pad warranty I purchased in 2005. I brought my vehicle in at 7:30 am, only to be told that the customer service rep comes in between 8:00 am and 8:30 to process your service request. After, waiting for over two hours, I was told that I could replace all brake pads, and turn the rotors for $500.00. When, I declined to just go ahead and have the front pads replaced, I sat for another two hours and was told that the front driver side tire spindle would need to be replaced . Reason was that the screws look rusted and was no longer able to fit in the spindle properly, At that time I was livid, I had been waiting since 7:30 am and now it noon. I was quoted that this would be an additional $450.00 for the part and $56.00 for labor. When, I asked if they could go in and retread the screw on the rotor they said no., you would have to replace the whole part. I was also advised that I could not sign a waiver to take my vehicle, because the tire could not be placed back on the car. I would then have to request a tow truck to have it towed away if I didn't approve the services. The story get worst, I called the VW dealership and was quoted a price of $156.00 less if I purchased the part myself. Midas was nice enough to drive me to the dealership to pick up the part. When I drove off of Midas lot, I had spent 7 hour being ripped off to the tune of $900.00. This was the most expensive brake job for a 99 jetta. Consumers should be aware of their practices. read more

I feel like the mechanics here always do a thorough job on my car and they do well about communicating about what needs to get done with my car other than the oil change. Do Not Patronize this business!!! My son took his 2011 Toyota Tundra here for an oil change and front brake pads. But, the truck wouldn't even drive after this place worked on it!! His 2011 Toyota Tundra was in very good condition and he keeps it that way as he uses it for work. But after Speedee on Tuolomne worked on it, it shook so badly, he had it towed back and was assured that they would fix what was needed to return the truck to it's previous good condition. They did not repair the problems that they had caused. The truck was then taken to a trusted mechanic in Benicia, Chris' Engine, for repairs and detailed report on what was found to be several problems with the work that had been done. They found a hole in a rim caused by a bolt that had come loose, wrong torque setting and several other problems. They documented and repaired the problems. The cost was $3000! To date , the owner of Speedee/Midas on Tuolomne refuses to reimburse my son for the cost of the damage to his truck...that they caused! read more

I had to have my timing adjusted to pass a SMOG test. I took it to Speedee, the man looked under the hood, flashed a laser light on something and said my timing was good. Charged me 75 bucks and didn't fix a thing. Literally took him 2 minutes and he did nothing. Back at the Smog place the Speedee mechanic and the Smog test guy yelled at each other on the phone about who did their job wrong. I ended up taking the truck to a different mechanic who actually fixed my timing problem and only charged 40 dollars. Speedee in Vallejo sucks. read more

I went to this store to have my brakes checked because my ABS light came on and there was a vibration in my brake pedal. 4 hours later the called to tell me that my rotors and brakes needed to be replaced that had less than 5,000 miles on them. I decided to take my car to another shop and my brakes and rotors were perfect! The problem was the hub bearing. The mechanic also was leaning on my car on his break!! I will never go there again they are disrespectful and lazy. They didn't even look at my car and lied to try to get money out of it! read more

DONT GO HERE!!! From the beginning the receptionist has a big attitude. How horrible can your job be to just check in check out customers? Doesn't use much brain but she finds it difficult. You won't miss her, Hispanic woman with terrible face and attitude. Why have your business start with a rude grump? Anyways, ladies... Dont show up by yourself, sad to say, but they will think nothing of you unless your a dude. They will give you no respect. I brought my car there a few times and each time there's a customer fight with a worker for being a jerk to the customer or not doing their job. I should have gone somewhere else after seeing this every time but it was convenient for me. Last time I went for an oil change they lost a part and did not say anything. I went back and they fought me for it and tried to charge me after admitting it was their fault to replace it. They are cheaters and can't be trusted. Went in to get an oil change. I noticed my car was being parked outside, which meant the oil change was done. So I waited for (Yvette)- the employee to call me up and ring up the register. 10 minutes had gone by and she didn't say anything at all. I kept on looking at her and all she was concerned about was her phone as if she was not working at all. I walked up to the register and asked her is she ready to ring me up. She ignored my question, and turns and grabs another customers clip board and call their name. The problem was, I was the only person in the room. The other customer she was calling was not there or somewhere outside. Since no one came after she called them, she went to the coffee table and started to fix the magazines. I asked her again, since it was just us two now, what is the problem and why she can't help me. She then comes to her register and finally rings me up.... It's so sad because I've been coming here for many years and now I've decided to take my business elsewhere. Such a crappy lady.. Her customer service is so bad, I want to ask if management has ever spoken to her about her work. I called to see if I can make an appointment to get my tires checked, she didn't speak clearly, her tone was rude and then she hung up on me. I even tried to book online and it said they were gonna call me within an hour. They called me 3 hours later. Sorry, went to Les Schwab instead and got my service done in less than 30 minutes. FRAUD!!!!! I have never used SpeeDee-Midas but when I found a coupon for their major service I thought I'd give them a try. It was everything I was needing to have done to my car for a good price. I call to make an appointment and the lady tells me their prices have gone up so the price is now $20 more. I told her that legally they have to honor an advertised price wether they've raised their rates or not. So she takes down my car info and says she'll check with the manager on the price. 10 minutes later the manager calls back and tells me that the type of car I have requires all these special parts that aren't included in the advertised special and it will now be OVER $100 more than the advertised price. I have owned this car for 7 years, have had plenty of service just like this done and have NEVER been charged more because of my type of car. Took my car in for new brake pads on 4/22/14. I was told it needed rotors as well for $354.19 (including the $39.98 discount for the brake pads). I really don't have a tremendous problem with that (maybe I did actually need rotors), but two days later, my steering wheel started shaking while driving. Over the next week or so, the shaking got much worse (I was nearly losing control of the car) to the point that I took it back on 5/5/14. The technician I originally talked to said I probably received a defective rotor, and I went toward the waiting room. I saw that technician then talk to the manager, Rick, who was aggressively talking to him. Rick then came into the waiting room and told me that the car needed new front tires ($183.02). I mentioned to Rick that problem would be gradual and the problem only happened AFTER he put on the brakes, and he became VERY AGGRESSIVE AND DEFENSIVE toward me. I stated my point AGAIN to him that although there is a tire issue NOW, the initial problem IS NOT the tires, and if he didn't fix the rotors the same problem would continue. RICK REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE ROTORS/BRAKES. I agreed to purchase the tires, and had no problems... for about 2 weeks. Then the car started shaking a little. I drove the car less than normal the next few weeks, and over that time the shaking got progressively worse. I took it for a 20 mile drive on 6/25, and when I got home I noticed the belts were hanging out of the front left tire. The next day the tire was completely flat and could not be pumped up. I called Rick and was told he'd be happy to look at the tires, but I'd have to have it towed in at my own expense. This is now a corporate issue which, as of today, still has not been resolved. read more

The only reason I got my car back after an hour and a half was because I noticed it sitting outside in the parking lot. If I had not notice it; I don't know how much longer I would be waiting. They don't deserve any star from me. I called first to check if they do AC repair. They said to bring the vehicle in so they can inspect further. Bottom line, they discovered that the repair is something they cannot handle. Not only that, the guy that helped me was rude and condescending. I basically paid for them to tell me what I already knew that my AC is not working. My point is, if they are not able to fix anything that is major, don't accept the car at all. No consumer would want to pay and take their car to place that will simply tell them what is wrong with the car. What a waste of my time and money!!! read more

My husband needed a wheel cylinder replacement which includes a complete break job (generally) - we paid $400+ for a break job but realized that they did not replace both wheel cylinders (a $15 part). We inquired as to why this wasn't fixed and the manager, John, explained that it is all up to the mechanic, if he would have been completing the break job he would have replaced both considering now if the other one cracks we have to do a new break job ($400+ again!). The truck was dropped off at 8am and was not able to up until 5pm - I get that it was a Friday but that doesn't mean we shouldn't receive the car service needed. John did mention that sometimes they don't replace both if their customers are tight on money, we were never even given the option so now instead of just paying for the other rear wheel cylinder $54 in addition to the $400+ already paid we will need to do a whole new break job. We also asked why we were charged $54 for a $15 part and he explained that the owner is able to mark up any part that he deems fit, they just punch it in to a computer!! What a rip off!! read more

I took my car for an oil change at Midas Vallejo and when I drove off it started feeling weird. The car was pushing itself forward and when I wanted to accelerate it would not go until after a few seconds. I didn't think much of it but it kept pushing itself every once in a while. Then as I was backing up from my driveway with the gear on reverse and my foot still on the break pedal, the car was pushing itself back. I knew something was wrong but didn't know what it was so I didn't drive it anymore. I tried to park it on the side and it was not driveable anymore. I called my high school mechanic friend to take a look and he said the transmission fluid had been flushed out so we had to use our own fluid to get the car going again. The transmission fluid was not supposed to be taken out. Also Midas went overboard with the oil which can also mess up the engine, they put way too much oil. My friend said never take it to a quick oil change shop because he worked for one and they don't know what they are doing. I should have complained and asked for a refund after I was borrowing cars for 2 weeks. read more

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. Although I have went there a few times to get an oil change because of their $5 off coupon offers, the wait time and service is awful. I recently got a tune up and oil change, but the day after, my check engine light came on and I could tell something was wrong with my engine. When I went back a few days later and brought this to the owners attention, he blamed the entire problem on me!! I have driven my car for 6 years and nothings EVER been wrong with it, and he had the nerve to yell at me and tell me to come back another time. After a long, long argument, he finally had one of the mechanics check it and he found out that they had given me a faulty spark plug!! I'm guessing they install second-hand parts, instead of using new ones like they promise, so customers will have to keep coming back over and over again so they rack up all the money. The owner is a complete jerk.. He provides the worst customer service I have ever seen... who yells at a customer, then finds out that it was his own fault the entire time? NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE, SLIGHTLY LOWER PRICES=BAD SERVICE. THE SPEEDEE'S IN VALLEJO IS NOT DEPENDABLE. read more

Took my car in for a tune up, including oil change, spark plug change, etc. When my car was finished, I drove off and heard a clunking sound. After pulling over, I pop my hood to find a wrench still under my hood and bouncing around on my engine. I thought "Ok, they forgot a tool. No worries.". I get back in my car and continue to drive home. About 5 minutes later I hear a grinding noise coming from the front of my car. I get home and once again pop my hood. Upon further inspection, I found that a screwdriver had fallen from somewhere near my engine block, had gotten caught in my bumper and was dragging on the ground as I drove. I continued to look around under the hood and came across my final find, a pair of pliers sitting dangerously close to my belts. Overall I was highly disappointed in the state they left my car in, as well as the carelessness of their clean up. I would say go somewhere else. read more
