This place used to be SO good but it was almost flavorless without all the sauces. Food was not bad but probably won't return here for a long long while. Great outdoor seating only. Pretty clean from what I noticed. The employees all look like they're forcefully working there. No greeting, no interaction, no smile, almost zombie like. I went here once again a few months back because I had missed their food, but I showed up maybe about 45 mins before they were closing. No acknowledgment, nothing. They were already cleaning up. I just ended up leaving.

Spitz is so so so good! I finally stopped by since I was in the area and I loved it! The chicken was really well seasoned and everything in it was fresh and tasty. I took it to go and ate it a bit later and it still remained warm and not soggy. Nice staff here, they were patient with me looking over the menu. Cute little place, the outdoor seating is nice for cooler days.

Daquitos burned to the point we can't distinguish what meat it is

Usually the food is top notch but dang they burned it ! We ordered the daquitos and the meat was burned beyond recognition! My wife and I both debated if it was beef or lamb and they also slipped and forgot the Fry's .this is the first time you guys shat the bed maybe it was just a rough day

I loooooove this place! Been coming here for years!! I'm surprised I haven't left a review! Street cart fries are my go too it's basically fries cucumber tomato olives feta cheese banana pepper all the medi veggies u can think off topped with your choice of protein I love there beef and chicken! They sauce it down ain't there garlic aoli sauce and I think a yogurt sauce im not to sure but it's all good over all! I tried the medi bowl also it's basically the same thing but with Rice and garbanzo beans and humus! Come Check them out if you want a quick bite to eat the restaurant itself is full of art tooo I love the vibe. The staff is awesome which adds extra points to this place!

Ordered Spitz for my lunch at work & it kinda reminds me of a Mediterranean chipotle ... KINDA like cava with less options lol I personally thought the beef was a bit dry .. but everything else was good! Would I come back? Maybe not -- I prefer cava over this any day. I first came here years ago, when the interior was a lot different. Every time I've stepped in there since, the heart & vibe of Spitz stays the same. If you want good music, a good food spot after or before a night out, Spitz will hook you up. They even have board games and a nice seating area with a string of lightbulbs above it, and some nice bushes around it. Every worker has been really nice too! read more

The chicken was a little over seasoned (if that makes sense) for my liking. It almost felt like some seasoning than chicken but overall it was a good spot and I'd come back. Spitz is a pretty decent option for fast casual Mediterranean food. The portion sizes are generous and filling, and the taste is about what you'd expect for the price. There's also an easy online ordering process for takeout since the dine-in experience is just fine. That said, I've had a couple of issues at this particular location. Kind of a weird location next to a big, busy road. They forgot my drink with a combo, which is minor. The bigger issue was finding a hair in my food, which is hard to overlook. Established in 2008.

Spitz founders Bryce Rademan and Robert Wicklund began laying he groundwork for their hip eatery while attending Occidental College. Spitz, the first European-style Doner Kebab restaurant in L.A., raised the bar on all upscale quick-service eateries. They were determined to insure that the food quality, ambiance and customer service would never be sacrificed. That means nearly everything, from the meals to the sauces, are made daily in-house. One thing you absolutely cannot skip is the edamame hummus. I had never even heard of edamame hummus before coming here, and now I can't believe I went so long without trying it. It was smooth, fresh, and full of flavor while putting such a unique twist on traditional hummus. It's one of those dishes that completely changes your expectations and has you thinking about it long after you've left the restaurant. On top of the amazing food, the service was outstanding. Everyone made us feel genuinely welcome, and the atmosphere was warm, relaxing, and perfect whether you're grabbing a casual lunch or having dinner with friends or family. The first thing I would do at this place would fire the young kid at the register and the second thing I would do is fire, the person who hired him. I walked in and there's three of them talking about something in the kitchen and nobody said hello. No one said hi and when I said hello, the cook in the back just nodded his head and the kid that was helping me at the register did not even look at me in the eyes or acknowledge that I was standing right in front of him. Then he comes to the register and he's standing in front of the register and he starts looking around while I'm talking to him as he's sniffing and wiping his nose with his hands. He obviously has a cold and should not be working at the restaurant getting people sick. When I ordered a gyro bowl. Still not looking at me, he said what kind of meat? And when I asked, what kind of meat is there he just points his finger to the menu. I could not deal with such stupidity and did not want to get sick at the same time and did not even want to spend another word of my breath invested in this guy. I just turned around and walked out without saying a word and went down the street and ordered a sandwich at a better place. I understand these restaurants are desperate for employees, but I would rather hire a roach than this guy they had working there. He is going to be the one reason they lose 5 to 10 customers a day. read more

YAY FOR FLAVOR!! Since my ex-boyfriend took me here a few months ago, I can't seem to stop myself from going. They've perfected the art of taking a usually greasy, garlicky, ethnic cuisine (think Zankou) and making it into a fresh, flavorful, don't-feel-it-in-you-stomach-all-day food. I guess if you add the amazing pita strips with humus or sweet potato fries then you're venturing off the healthy end of things, but they really complete the meal. They also added this dipping sauce for the fries which really takes it to a new level (although it is a bit on the garlicky side). True, if you know Doner Kebab as the greasy mess you eat at 4 in the morning while traveling in Europe, then you may not love this version...but hello people, who wants to eat a gut-bomb when they have to attempt to live their daily lives after they eat?! Loved this place. It's a much hipper, contemporary shabby-shiek vibe inside. It's small, but in a cozy sort of way. Food was great and tasted very fresh. Liked the classic street doner myself a great deal. Yummy, but a bit too deep fried for me. I ordered the falafel wrap and a pomme doner with the pita chips combo. The falafel wrap as my bf puts it is really good and fresh. I'm not a huge falafel person so I'll take his word for it. The pomme doner sandwich was lamb and beef mix but it was gooooooooooood :) I liked the aioli sauce next time I might try the street doner sandwich. The fried pita chip is the best side option ever! What happened to this place? I used to come here all the time. Would almost always order the chicken lavash wrap with street cart fries (was a must!). However, I noticed the last times I ever came here, the food quality had gone down shockingly fast. Quality of the chicken and beef now.. don't even get me started. Prices went up but portions got smaller. Do they think people are stupid? Staff has changed too. If you don't like her job, QUIT. Or don't make your customers notice at least. Last 3 or 4 times my order took FOREVER. 3 of us and it took about 25 minutes for bite sized food. And one of the orders was wrong.. I'm really not trying to bash. I'm just stating the obvious. Haven't been here in months and not planning on returning. Sucks because I really liked this place. read more

This Spitz has been my go to Mediterranean spot since it first opened - before all the other locations. This time I was looking for a quick bite to eat. It was about 9:30 when I came in. The team inside had already begun to pre-close. Understandable - I've worked in the food service industry before, and it was probably a slow night for them. I usually get the Street Cart fries with the works. Because they had started to close, I was informed that it was take out only. Not a problem, so I ordered my usual to-go. The thing is, I got home and I had NO meat on my Street Cart fries - AND they charged me the extra $3 for it... One star experience, from a typical 5 star joint. Really disappointed. read more

Oh my god, I would give this place zero stars if I could, but I can't so I'm giving them one star. I can't believe people like coming here. The rude employees here are unbelievable. I had a simple question with a menu item, the guy at the counter seemed bothered and uncomfortable answering my question. It felt like he hated his job and didn't want to be there, I got a dirty look on every single basic question, NEWS FLASH, you are in the service industry, learn how to provide "Customer Service". Nothing's been spelled wrong - onto my platter at least. Ah, the place is seriously a fantastic spot to indulge in some yummy food. Try their pita chips and wraps - one of the best dishes on earth. Yeah, the quantity would look sort of midget if you're too craving or been blessed with a huge tummy but seriously, Splitz has got interesting food in its kitchen to serve you. Being originally from Germany I grew up with Doener. I have been craving a good Doener for so long and made my way over to Eagle Rock as soon as I found out about this place. I ordered the Chicken Doener . What a disappointment, it didn't taste anything like an original (Berlin) Doener. The chicken was dry and the tzatziki sauce unadventurous and bland. The Doener was even missing some regular "ingredients" like chopped red cabbage and cucumbers. People might like it if they never had a "real" Doener before. I don't even want to call it a Doener because it didn't taste anything like it. The staff was super friendly though. Sorry Spitz, I don't think i'll return. read more

I like this place. The food is solid and consistent, and the place has a sort of young, entrepreneurial vibe that you've got to like. I always get the chicken doner sandwich, with a side of fries. The fries (regular, not sweet potato) are the best I've ever had. Better than McDonald's, better than the Oinkster. The sorbet is also good. The menu is small. The prices are reasonable. Downsides: They always wrap everything in tin foil. Please stop doing that! Bad for the food, bad for the eater. Also, parking can be a pain. Best to find a spot on Colorado, near the orange monstrosity, so that you can cross the street easily. read more

Interesting, tasty and a little different kabobs, wraps and sandwiches. Their food is prepared when you order it. Kind of small hole in the wall with stinky parking. But worth it. This aint no Tbell, they don't make it until you order it. So expect to wait about 5-10 minutes to get your meal. The wait is so worth the time. Fresh ingredients, sauces in the right amount, piping hot food. I see they are getting a wine and beer license soon. My first experience I thought it was pretty average for doner wraps and I was not impressed, but apparently you just have to know WHAT to order! I went back with a friend that suggested I get a chicken doner wrap with the spicy feta inside....AWESOME!! It added such a great flavor since I love spice! Now I can't get enough of it, their hummus is also really good. I think that it is all well worth the $10 you would pay for the meal. This place is awesome. I've tried the classic and chicken doner kebabs in both the focaccia and pita wrap. I like the classic kebab in a focaccia the best. It tastes awesome and you can ask for hot sauce on the side to give it an extra kick. Awesome pita strips & sweet potato fries! I've been to 3 spitz: eagle rock, little tokyo, and los feliz. This one has the BEST SERVICE!!! No really though, the workers are extra friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. Spicy donor, Mediterranean donor, Donor lite w/ falafel, thin cut fries, sweet potato fries, street cart fries, call me fat but they're all good! Döner delicious! The wraps are classic, fresh and flavorful but try the Street Car Fries or Falafel Salad. Spitz has a range of spicy options perfect for any Angelino's palate. The owners have an El Ah backstory: two Occidental college students opened the first Spitz in Eagle Rock after inspiration struck at a Kebab stand during a study abroad semester in Spain. The only reason I'd ever want to visit countries like Germany (the least interesting place in Europe for me, give me Barcelona or Amsterdam any day) or Turkey (can you say "Armenian genocide deniers"?) is if their food was really anything like the food here... Spitz is the only place I've ever eaten where soggy fries (by the time I get home with take-out, the sweet potato fries have gotten soggy) are still so damn good! read more

Been there once for the "doner kabob" however will not go back. I have lived in Europe and I have had a real doner kebab and the one at Spitz does not even compare. The Kabob meat at Spitz did not look homemade nor did it taste like it. The bread was not your original flat pita bread which is used in Europe. Do not go to Spitz thinking you are going to have a real authentic Doner Kabob just like the ones in Europe. read more

I always go here for my falafel sandwich but today I had the falafel salad and I must say it's my new favorite. Delicious, just big enough and very tasty. Loved it. The staff is always nice and patient. Unfortunately the menus are located right next to the cashier and he or she must wait while you look through the menu which can take some time, but they are super patient and helpful. 5 stars hands down. read more

The buns were sturdy yet soft, substantial enough to hold up to the generous fillings yet somehow light. And oh my god the burger meat itself. Typically, burger meat is unseasoned and the main flavor you get is meat. But this burger, the meat itself was deliciously seasoned, almost like the meat you would get on a kebab. And the cheese, too, was not flabby and unremarkable but rather a thick, stretchy, flavorful melt that complemented the fresh toppings perfectly. Refreshing pickles and tomatoes, perfectly tender sautéed mushrooms, and plenty of the signature sauce. I will be back for this burger, and to try his other sandwiches. I do not mess around when it comes to burgers. This one is exceptional.
