Quick and kind service with great prices. Small bakery with lots of pre-made options. Stopped in to get something for a friends bday and was not disappointed.

I came in to get a little sweet snack before work. First off the two employees looked at me up and down like I was some piece of trash. I tried to be friendly and make light conversation but the lady didn't seem to really care until I ordered a bread pudding and creme brûlée. The bread pudding was dry and hard. I've worked in a bakery and I've made bread pudding. It was at least 3 days old. Super stale. And tastes like refrigerator. The creme brûlée wasn't too bad. I like to support small businesses but I won't be coming here again. I don't like when I walk into a place and I'm immediately given the stink eye. It's mean. I get people have bad days, but down take it out on random strangers just trying to support your business.

First off the customer service is amazing. The woman at the register told me just about everything on the cookies they had there. My fiancé sent me from mid city to the west side specifically to get 1 type of cookie for him but it all looked so good I ended up walking out with about 3 pounds of cookies. Everything was baked fresh.

The wait at Nook was about 20 minutes so I stumbled upon Star. The baklava and almond cookies are fantastic.

What are the yellow cookies with chocolate drizzled on top? I had them there about 10 years ago, I live in Seattle now and STILL think about them!!

Hi Shayna. They are called French cookies. I’m glad you enjoyed them. Stop by when you are in town.

At first, I was just going to get a basic (honestly, probably grocery store) cake, but decided to go all-out. I was deciding between 3 shops in West LA. One sent an entire email of what they wouldn't do (like I was buying a cake from SugarFish!) So, ot really came down to Ivory's and one other shop and I chose Ivory's because they were responsive and their messages were positive. We had a Minecraft theme and they'd also done a Minecraft cake before so, it made the order super easy. She even made the letters blue -- his favorite color! I added the candles which a random guest pointed out should say "TNT" not "BOOM" so that's not on Ivory's Her husband personally delivered the cake to the Santa Monica Pier (let's face it -- a super annoying place to get to especially on a weekend) and was even early! They couldn't have made it easier and everyone (parents and kids) commented on how good the cake looked and tasted! And the cupcakes! We ordered special cupcakes but I forgot to take a pic. I think one of our guests might have. If I find one, I'll update the post

The shop was extremely easy to work with and was able to accommodate our requests (flavor, color, etc.). Their online ordering system made everything super easy, almost too easy, I thought our order didn't go through! The cake itself was DELICIOUS and so many people at the party said they couldn't tell it was gluten free. Truly so so great. We actually had some leftover and froze it so have been able to continue to enjoy even after the birthday It's definitely not the cheapest option, but they are definitely a worthwhile splurge for a special occasion.

I had never heard of Angel Maid but a few weeks later I reached out to them to order a birthday cake for a good friend of ours. And it did not disappoint! I ordered the Chocolate Banana Cake because it was so delicious the first time we tried it. The best part is that although it's flavorful you don't feel heavy after having it. Just so yummy and worth the trek to Culver City.

That said, their service is still great and they are very nice. They are limited in what they will do. If you bring in a photo of a cake you want, chances are they won't be able to do it. They do not do images at all. They have a book and you can pick a cake. Their selection in store is very good, but I am so sick of most of them having a whipped cream frosting that you have to keep cold. I don't like cold cake. Their selection of butter cream is lacking. They do have a nice selection of cupcakes with butter cream frosting which is great. When you have them write on a cake you pre ordered you can tell they took very little time to do it, it is sloppy and there is nothing but what you told them to write. Most bakeries add a little flower or something to present the name. I just had a lemon curd type cake from them and I noticed the sloppy writing and the cake was so sweet I could not eat it, and of course, it was cold. I won't be back. That is sad. I will find another bakery that cares. But I still give them a 4 because I know a lot of people like sweet cakes with whipped cream frosting and their service is very good.

There are a few tables if you'd like to enjoy your food there, but we decided to get everything to go. The staff told us the pastries could stay out of the refrigerator for up to an hour, so we were worried the cakes might melt on the way home. Thankfully, they stayed in perfect condition. We especially loved the croissants. They were incredibly flavorful and surprisingly large, so I'd recommend getting a few different flavors to share. My favorites were the almond and Parisian croissants. They gave some free macarons at the end!

Background On Visit: I was primarily going to RWT (Pokemon Card Shop) Collective on the second floor of the plaza, Something about the line and a average of 5 stars on their yelp page made me want to patronize the shop. So I did. Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restroom: Didn't see a restroom. :) Wait Time: Can be long. Luckily, I didn't wait long when I patronized the shop. Location/Parking: Located in a plaza on the NW corner of Sawtelle Blvd. and W. Olympic. There's a couple of shared 15 minute parking spots in the parking lot, paid parking structure, or meter parking along Olympic, Sawtelle, or surrounding streets. I did find a secret place with free 2 hour parking on the NE corner of Purdue Ave. and Olympic Blvd.. :) Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with a few modern furnishings to sit, eat, and enjoy ones company. Service: Service was great! Tera (staffer) was very nice, attentive, offered great suggestions, and was quite informative about the shop. She also informed me that I was able to get two complimentary macarons. Patisserie Of Choice: 1) Blossom: Consisted of vanilla mousse, pistachio/red berries insert, pistachio crunch, and pistachio sponge. It was too pretty to eat, but I ate it anyways. So good and soo yum! 2) Roche: Consisted of hazelnut mousse, house made praline combined with soft caramel, hazelnut sponge. Taste like a Ferrer Rocher! It's very dense and sweet, but great to eat. Not something I'll have all the time. Macarons Of Choice : I got the Cookies and Cream and pistacio. They were both good. Artelice Patisserie For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back. I'm coming for you almond croissant.
