So I've been to Star Provisions multiple times because it's close to my job and though it looks really nice and have a very fresh air about the place, I find it hard to find something there to eat for a reasonable price. There are a lot of general meals with just a small twist. I guess they're freshly made but I personally think a lot of the meal items are overpriced. As for the actual food, it is very delicious. Their impossible burger is something I would definitely recommend. It's plant based, very delicious, and decently priced. I did buy a peach pecan bun roll from them in my most recent trip and almost lost a tooth trying to bite into it. I swore I bit into a rock. I don't think I'll get that again. However their almond butter cake was delicious and soft. I honestly have a neutral stance on this place because the thing about star Provisions is that I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a market or a place to eat. It's a strange hipster hybrid with no distinct character that says it's one or the other. I only go to it because of its convenience but wouldn't say it's a must go place unless you're looking for something extra special for your pet because they also have animal items as well. read more

This cute little place is definitely one of the places I will go back to when visiting Atlanta. It really has a nice homey atmosphere and gives Atlanta a nice small town gourmet feel. We ordered some lunch at the food bar. We got some random items shirmp po boy, baguette with prosciutto sandwich, small mixed greens salad, the vegetarian frittata (which was 3 layers), and buttermilk biscuits. Everything was delicious esp the shrimp po boy which had large prawns & the frittata which actually was pretty filling with lots of veggies & ricotta cheese. We stopped by the coffee bar and my latte from there was excellent. Got some fine cheeses from the cheese guy (forgot his name). I've read the reviews on yelp loud and clear and got the shrimp po-boy. Although the preparation of the shrimp was excellent, the po-boy was very difficult to actually eat. Just falls apart. It was very good and the ingredients seemed of upmost quality, yet I was not blown away by the flavor. It lacked spice and the hot sauce I was given was very mild. This awesome shop is located within the Westside Urban Market along with Jenni's, JCT, Taqueria del sol, and one of my other favorites, Bacchanalia. Known for its shrimp po'boy, I was thrilled that I finally got to try after many attempts as it closes on Sundays. So the verdict is that this was by far the best shrimp po'boy that I've had. Shrimps were gigantic, plump, and juicy; sort of reminds you of eating salt and pepper shrimp. This po'boy even beats the shrimp po'boy that I had in New Orleans, which definitely saids a lot. I also ordered cole slaw on the side and my bf ordered the pastrami reuben. Although the cole slaw was refreshing, I thought it was a bit pricey as it costed as much as half of your sandwich. Pastrami reuben was pretty hefty and cheesy, which I love the cheesy part. Will definitely come back for the shrimp po'boy and to try out the other speciality sandwiches, cheese, and charcuterie! It definitely wasn't bad, but also not something that I was that amazed by. Maybe I should have gone with a different order, not sure. I think, too, that the sandwiches are a bit pricy. I have breakfast here, hum, at least once a week! They have maybe the best coffee in Atlanta (my favorite is the Latte), and a delicious bread and desserts variety. My favorite breakfast is the Omelette Baguette Sandwich (with or without prosciutto); they make it with an amazing soft and semi-melted brie cheese and aioli! It also comes with bitter greens on the side. Try it out! Service and ambience is truly great. You can walk out around while you wait for your order and see all the cool stuff they sell for your kitchen, or you can sit inside or outside and enjoy the music they play (e.g. Hotel California). The ways I can see they can "improve" is by having Wi-Fi and opening until later, but that may not be their business model. Always a wonderful place to stop by for a meal, snack, gift-shopping, or even a to-go meal. I've never had a bad meal here, and I especially love their breakfast menu items with eggs, whether the french omelette baguette or the folded egg biscuit. All the meals I've had have been served using fresh ingredients and good-sized portions. One of my favorite-ever items here is their olive oil ice cream. I haven't found a place that serves as good of an olive oil ice cream-like dessert as they do here. I've been here multiple occasions and never had an issue with finding seating or service. It shares a space with the notoriously loved Atlanta favorite: Bachannalia and holds many similarities to the restaurants rustic appeal. Star Provisions is the light and airy to Bachannalias dark and homey atmosphere. Something you architect fanatics will love: an employee told me the design of Star Provisions is based off of a barn and everything in the store is made in 12ft increments. The food is everything you could hope for: exciting, fresh, and diverse. It's locally and globally inspired with menu items like the French Omelet Baguette and the Beef Bulgogi Bowl to the Crispy Chicken or Sausage Biscuit. They also have a fabulous cheese and baked goods collection. I recommend trying the strawberry bar or their meringues cookies (they have lemon and chocolate). Whatever you get will definitely be picture perfect, I can promise that. Star Provisions has a nice little shopping area in addition to its all star menu. You can buy treats for your doggy friends and human friends alike. It's about as pricey as any niche store you might come across in Atlanta, so you know what you're getting into. Star Provisions lived up to the hype! Wanting a quick bite to eat, the BF and I decided to give Star Provisions a try, and I'm so glad we did! Once we found the sandwich line, we ordered a shrimp po-boy and some chips. A few minutes later, a delicious sandwich was delivered to our table. The fresh, plump shrimp was fried to perfection (crispy, yet not greasy), and placed inside soft bread with lettuce, tomato, pickle and a remoulade. This is the best po-boy I've had out of NOLA! You can go to the far end and order if someone is standing there, which is likely if its lunchtime. The new location has a different menu than the old. Some of the same sandwiches and some new sandwiches, sides, pizzas, boards, chilled shellfish, etc. The pizzas are great. Perfect size for 2 people. Semi thick edge, thin crust with a bit of char underneath. I got the mushroom for later and crushed tomato for there. The crushed tomato was almost like a margherita pizza only with fresh oregano instead of basil. Really interesting and I quite liked. The mushroom pizza has fried shallots on it. This is a fun brunch/lunch restaurant/cafe. The menu is divided into breakfast, sandwiches, salads and sides. The menu with their entrees and baked goods sounded and looked delicious. Aside from their tasty menu, you can do some shopping of locally made food products like hot sauce, honey, and cute trinkets like Xmas ornaments, hand woven baskets and stuffed animals. I ordered their chia pudding granola and egg and sausage biscuit. As well as the Korean bulgogi sandwich. No, I didn't eat all of it but I tasted every meal. The pudding with the homemade granola was amazing. Not too sweet but just enough to crave some more after you finish it. The sandwich was delicious as well. The biscuit was so so. But still tasty. I added sides to the meals which included the potatoes and beets. The beets al were yummy but the potatoes were just potatoes. Nothing unique. The baked goods looked great but I opted for only the lemon bar and apple hand pie. The pie was great and the lemon bar was ok. Overall, I really enjoyed this place. To go order review for Little Star: I ordered the LAST roasted chicken sandwich available. I kid you not! As I ordered it, the person ringing me up said to another "OH We didn't get a chicken delivery today so no more chicken!" I get proud to have this ultimate roasted chicken sammie. Did I know what came on it? Nope! Did I care? Nope! Should I have cared? Yep! The highs: real roasted chicken pieces in a large bun with a garlic aioli type sauce and.....BACON!!! Most people would be cheering like HELL YEAH, THERE'S BACON! However, I don't eat bacon. I had no idea it came on there because the menu was missing descriptions thus, only 4 stars. I pulled off the bacon though and enjoyed my sammie which comes with UTZ chips which are delish! I also got a black cherry soda because why not. I think that if it was busier, I would have asked others what to get like the eggplant sammie. Staff was super nice and my food was definitely high quality for the price. It kills me to write this review. I have loved Bacchanalia since it opened. I still measure all asparagus against the that last asparagus I ate at Float- Away. Star Provisions in its original location was one of my favorite places anywhere. I loved the space. The way it was divided. Everything they sold. But especially the food they prepared. It was always exciting to eat a perfect quick lunch or take a little bit of Bacchanalia home. Today I ate at the new location. I'd been once before and brought some limited provisions home. I was shocked at how much less they had than before and how much less accessible the food and goods were. Today I and two other guys had lunch. Two sandwiches, a glass of Prosecco, and a soup was $46. Paying was a little jarring but I thought what the fuck I'm about to eat a Star Provisions lunch. Who cares. I paid for two of us. Kirk had the veggie burger which despite a sucky pickle and just ok house made chips was very good. I had the prosciutto and butter baguette. We split the soup of the day, a purée of cabbage and potato, which was topped with crumbs of what may have once been bacon. The baguette lacked structure, was doughy and its exterior was flaccid and tough. It's was Publix-like. The butter was fine. The prosciutto seemed oxidized an was flat. It was served with a little dressed salad which tasted completely unsalted. The soup was the most disappointing. Bacchanalia meals were always punctuated by an amuse bouche of something warm that was blended with cream and always perfect. The idea of a whole bowl of that was exciting. What we got was muddled and gritty. It's lacked seasoning and the crumbled-once-maybe-bacon stuff on topic was burnt and acrid. The soup sucked. It made me angry. James has a beef and radicchio salad. As it was being walked over by the server I thought; that looks great I should have ordered it. Once it was put down next to me I was grossed out. The beef was a mixture of grey and pink. It looked like old tartare. The radicchio was roasted and was dripping in fat of some kind. Yuk. Serendipitous. I used to live in Atlanta and my favorite restaurant was West Egg Cafe. We had a layover long enough to head out for lunch, but the power was out at West Egg so they'd closed for the day! Yelp directed us to Star Provisions and turned that frown upside down. It's a three-in-one brick and mortar with a cafe, home goods shop and cheese/charcuterie shop with a ton to offer. We even saw small local California cheeses that we love from San Francisco! I had the brisket hand pie and the potato feta focaccia, both of which were smaller items from the pastry case instead of a meal item on the menu. I'm a snobby foodie and sometimes hard to impress, but jiminy Christmas, those pastries make my mouth water thinking about them a week later. So. So. Good. Would I bludgeon someone so badly he would have to make a trip to the ICU, for one of Star Provision's sandwiches? No. (Only a few eateries get that praise from me.) But are they pretty damn solid? Absolutely. --Helpful tidbits: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING This popular sandwich joint is relatively easy to find. Star Provisions is located in a high-end restaurant, bar, and shopping complex -- which spans a set of railroad tracks -- and if you're using Google Maps it should lead you to the storefront. During the times I've been, I've found plenty of parking. II. FOOD & DRINK Their ingredients are incredibly fresh, the portions are generous, and I'm sure the word "artisan" could be used as an adjective for just about anything inside. But let's stick to their sandwiches, yeah? They're mainly American, fromthe southern shrimp po'boy, brunch fave muffaletta, and solid chicken sandwich. They've also tried to capitalize on tasty ethnic "trends" suburbanites love with banh mis and falafels. If you like with a 'wich there, be sure to occasionally peruse their menu online since the menu changes. How often? I'm not sure. I've been there several times and I've only had three of their sandwiches. First, their *banh mi, with pork shoulder, cilantro, pickled daikon and carrot, half cut jalapeno all wedged in between the bread. Now the bread is all right, but it isn't the airy, crispy, rice-flour based bread that I grew up with. Still fine. I, while at the time of writing this review know they don't have a pork shoulder banh mi on the menu, am suggesting that they opt for a sandwich with pork belly instead of shoulder. Still good, but not a place I'd go for banh mi. Their *shrimp po'boy, with lettuce, tomato, pickle, Cajun Mayonnaise on a hoagie, is beautiful. While the battered shrimp is literally spilling out, like big boobs in a club tank top, it's delectable. Hmm, dat mayo, tho. I recommend it. Perahps my favorite sandwich they craft, though, is their *Pastrami Reuben. With sauerkraut, Swiss, Russian dressing/ sauce on a couple slices Rye, as Pinterest-y as this establishment is, this is a man's sandwich. Incredibly hearty, pornographically gooey, and sour like my attitude on my favorite football team, I could eat this weekly. Maybe daily. Ok, maybe most of my meals until my heart gives out. #IamMan. Regarding their drinks, they have craft sodas, water, etc... III. SERVICE The folks working behind the counter have always been very pleasant. And once you find a seat at one of their picnic tables, they even bring your order over to you. It's nice. Top notch! IV. AMIBENCE & DÉCOR As I've said, it's Pinterest-y. PRICES Like most places in West Midtown, prices fall on the high end, but Star Provisions, as nice as it looks, is very affordable. For their monstrous sandwich sizes and quality of ingredients, and only having to pay somewhere south of $15, their eats are great deals. You can even make two meals out of one sandwich. This move was not for the better. As bright, shiny, and new this building is, it's totally lacking the charm of the old space. They seemed to have shifted their business towards retail moreso than food. Their food offerings seemed to have shrunk as they're are fewer pastries (or so it seems). They're also no longer selling the Zapps chips which is a total bummer! I ordered the pulled roast chicken sandwich is bitter greens. It was fine. The greens on it were a bit wet and wilted so I had to remove that. The chicken itself was fine, just nothing special. I think I'll stick to Victory for my sandwich cravings for now. I hope this isn't an indication of bad changes at bacchanalia as well. read more

It's never happened to me before, but after reading the reviews for Star Provisions I honestly feel like I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said... especially when it comes to the Shrimp Po' Boy. THE EXPERIENCE I love the concept of the various restaurants located here from the tiny coffee house to upscale Italian dining. The whole thing just works. Service was beyond my expectation for takeout. The chef locked in on the fact that I wanted a Po' Boy through my brief conversation with the cashier and a few other patrons while waiting to order. Finally, when it was my turn to place an order, he placed a freshly made SPB in front of me and gestured it was mine with a nod before I'd even received my change. I was impressed to say the least. They were out of rolls and lettuce, instead substituting a pepper-bun and arugula. My sandwich was amazing! I didn't think so at first, but it progressively got better with every bite until it was gone. I was left with the most incredible aftertaste in my mouth while licking what morsels I could salvage off my fingers. I shared half of my sandwich with my son who begged me to go back for another... lol. As soon as you step in the door of Star Provisions, your senses are assaulted with goodness. The incredible smell alone is enough to make you crave all the beautiful baked goods in front of you. However, we came in for lunch, so I tore myself away from the display case, and went to check out the sandwich menu. I decided on one of the specials of the day: the fried grouper. It was flawless. The fish was fresh and flaky, the vegetables vibrant and flavorful, the bun soft, with a hint of black pepper, and the chili aioli was the consummately complementary condiment. As we ate in silence, my eyes met those of my companions, and we all nodded in silent agreement. Their shrimp po' boys were clearly every bit as wonderful as my grouper. Unfortunately, I was too full to try any of the highly recommended sandwiches or baked items from Star Provisions, but got to browse around and escape the hot and humid Atlanta summer for a while. They also sell unique treats for pets, and I purchased some for my friend's dogs to try: -Sliced Pig Ears ($0.75): The pitbull and medium sized mutt really enjoyed this and ate it quickly. -9" Bully Stick ($4.95): The pitbull also really enjoyed this, and shared a bit with the medium sized mutt. For a normal dog, it would probably take them a few days to finish the bully stick since it was pretty thick, but the pit was able to take it down in half an hour or so. -Cow Hooves ($1): Only the pitbull really knew how to gnaw on this, but since she was so full from the bully stick, it took her a few days to finish this off. Star Provisions is definitely a great place to go for human and dog treats/snacks alike, and I hope I have the opportunity to go back and try out their sandwiches!
