I couldn't wait to try this place after reading the reviews and seeing them on IG. I had a meeting and wanted to bring Starbread for everyone. It's a long drive for me but I was too excited to get their famous warm bread to share with everyone. I ordered two boxes of 20 pieces at $16/box so $32 total for 40 pieces. The bread was warm and fresh when packaged . I took a quick pic and was surprised at the smaller size. It kinda reminded me of Oscars breadsticks (anyone remember those?!) or Olive garden breadsticks. The bread was still warm when I got to meeting. I waited anxiously for everyone to try and to my amazement no one said omg these are the best things ever. It was mostly 'yeah, it's alright' or 'just ok' and 'there's no wow factor'. So maybe the hype was a bit much (esp from me to them). I wouldn't go back to purchase more unless I was in the area and someone really wanted them. Otherwise I was glad to have finally tried them out and give them to others.

A must try ... the seniorita bread is a small, sweet carb bomb. get it hot if you can.... you'll eat 2+ instantly. Cute place with other donut options too. Service was fine. I also tried the ube cheese filled purple bread... yum. cool to have this place in our little city of Poway.

Planning ahead of time is key. Knowing how many people will feast on these warm, buttery bread. Then factor in that each person will want to enjoy at least 5. YES that's right, 5 PER PERSON. And that's being on the lighter side. TRUST ME on this. Once you enter, you are greeted by the cashier who will ask you how many senorita bread aka Spanish bread you want, you best be ready. He/she grabs the corresponding box, rings you up, then goes to the back to retrieve these freshly baked rolls. You will definitely eat 2-3 rolls before getting to your destination. Other items sold, different flavored mochi donuts. We tried the matcha one, but I prefer it to be more mochi in texture than doughy. They also sell malasadas but being from Hawaii I prefer my malasadas fresh out of the fryer so I passed on trying theirs as it was sitting in their display case. Their ube filled Spanish roll was okay. Mainly will return over and over again for their senorita bread.

Surprised I never heard about this place before and was more than impressed by the starbread, they let me sample a hot fresh piece and was surprised how amazing it was. I told a lot of my friend's and colleagues that live in San Diego about it and they all knew but failed to tell me. :-) They said there is a 2nd location in Chula Vista, looks like I will have to pay that place a visit too. Super Delicious!

REVIEW FOR ONLY THE SEÑORITA BREAD Customer service: 4.0 fast & efficient Senorita bread: 4.4 I must have missed the rush since I was the only person and no line, but it was already 12:30pm. I ordered 40 señorita bread, the young woman disappeared then returned with a large box just for me! Paid and out the door I go... Señorita bread was warm, light, buttery, and sweet even after sitting for an hour in the box. I will gladly return to this location when visiting my brother.

It's all about the Señorita Bread! -Story Time- Me: "How much are you going to eat?" Husband: "3" Me: "Are you sure?" Husband: "yes" Me: "How much are you going to eat?" Kid 1: "2" Me: "Seriously, only 2?" Kid 1: "uh, ok, 3." Me: "How much are you going to eat?" Kid 2: "3" Me: "Okay everyone remember to eat only the number you said your going to eat. Me: "Are you sure....only 3?" Kid 2: "yes" 3+3+3= 9 I purchase a box of 20 senorita bread. Husband: "Why did you buy so much? Your going to eat 11 Senorita bread all on your own?" Me: "yeeeessss!" I fall asleep on the car ride home and decide to continue my nap when we arrive home. When I wake up, I'm excited to eat the Senorita bread. Guess what happend ? :0 They ate ALL of the Senorita bread. My husband saw it all over my face. Husband: "Calm down it's just bread." Me: "Don't you dare tell me to calm down. I asked each person how much pieces of Senorita bread they were going to eat. I didn't eat ANY and now the bakery is closed." I give a 30 minute lecture on how I was the one that wanted the Senorita bread. Kid 1: "Why didn't you eat it right away if you wanted it so badly." Me: Just like the cartoon steam began to come out of my ears. Husband: He whisked my son away. Came back, "Babe, the first thing we will do tomorrow is buy Senorita bread." Lesson learned just buy a box of 20 for your famiy and a box 20 for yourself. Make sure you huff down at least five pieces when it comes out and at least 5 pieces when you come home. Make sure you have a good hiding spot if you don't finish it so can divulge it in whenever you want. Senorita Bread: It's a Filipino sweet bread roll. It's filled with a mixture of brown sugar, butter, and breadcrumbs, then rolled and baked. They bake it fresh when you order it. I usually eat it once I get it but I was extremely exhausted that day. Store: It's pretty small compared to the other location. Though its small they have a variety of other baked goods. I've tried the brownie, mochi donuts, malasada, and cupcake. Parking: Free and theres ample parking. Try the Senorita bread it's addicting. Make sure you eat at least one when it comes out especially if you don't live alone. If not you will risk having steam come out of your ears for not being able to eat any.

This place is known for its starbread, and you can order however many you want. They make their bread fresh and hot. The inside has no seating, but service was quick. Would recommend.

First time trying seniorita bread and it did not disappoint. We got the 5 piece bag and inhaled them the second we got into the car. So quick so that there were only a few to snap a photo. I can see why this place is popular. I wish they were a little less wet but maybe they're supposed to be that way. If you ordered a huge box and let it sit, would they get soggy? That I'm not sure about. They were tasty, sweet, and reminded me of a childhood snack of toast with butter and sugar.

I'm so glad that Starbread is now in the north county area of San Diego. The obvious choice would have been Mira Mesa but I am glad that it is in Poway. MM is way too congested. It nice to see the city of Poway is becoming more diverse and welcoming Asian and Pacific Islander businesses. The "señorita" bread was delicious and fresh out of the oven. The bakery was small but appeared very clean. I will come back to try their other items. They intrigued me with malasadas on display. I spent my childhood in Hawai'i. I'm excited to try their version. Mahalo and maraming salamat po.

I've been here a few times now for the señorita bread and it's always been a hit. They always come out fresh and warm and they smell so good. It's a great option for a party snack or appetizer. Service is good and quick. It's a small shop with just a walk up counter. We once came in 5min before closing, weary if they had any bread left but they still had a lot. They also have variety boxes of their other baked goods for purchase at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend a try!

We love this place in North county because we used to go to Chula Vista. Best bread in San Diego! It's a must try! Service is friendly here. We love the bright store. Give this place a try!! FANTASTIC BREAD!

I was pleasantly surprised when I found out there was a location in Poway. Not only do they have their deliciously sweet, buttery senorita bread, but they have a large variety of other goodies like mochi donuts, brownies, malasadas, pandesal and more! Their senoritas are freshly baked and affordable! The location is small but the one assisting me was welcoming, helpful and quick at helping me and others that came in to order. Two thumbs up!

This Starbread Bakery is located in the same plaza as Coffee Bean, specifically right next door to a Pho place. There is parking available right in front of the bakery. Since we were going to a family party (was much bigger than I was initially told, so didn't buy enough for everyone), I decided to stop by Starbread Bakery, Filipino bakery, for their famous seniorita bread. I ended up purchasing a box of 15, ($12 prior to tax, $12.93 after). We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, a little before 2 pm. There was only one person ahead of us, waiting for their order. After the girl took my order, I waited 8 minutes for my order to be ready. They definitely taste great warm and fresh but can't say if they are good when they are not. The seniorita bread is soft, fluffy like and also sweet (but not overly sweet). The size is small and addicting that you want to eat multiple pieces at a time. Although this bakery also sells other baked goods, I have never tried them and have only had the seniorita bread (from another location). I would definitely recommend purchasing a large box if you are going to a family gathering or party (and you may want to order extra for yourself and maybe devour a few beforehand because these will run out as soon as people find out you brought the good stuff).

The Reuben was also delicious (8/10), with fresh, crispy bread that really brought everything together. I mean it wasn't as good as mine but this wasn't too bad at all. 2. Fruit tart- needed a little more sweet to the crust. Sorry but Porto's tart is better. But I would get this again. The fruit was so good and the custard. 3. Red Velvet cupcake - needed a little more moisture or maybe mine was went fresh. Also the icing is pretty sweet and "stiff" I will return to try a few other things d or may e sit down and eat. This place gets extra points for the packaging. I love the Tiffany Blue box... Jessica is the most professional down to earth woman, who I had the pleasure of getting to know over the last year. A wife and mother of two with the greatest story of how she got started - I will save this for you to ask about because it's one you won't forget. We found FCBC through our caterer and from first contact we knew that she would exceed our expectations. She helped us find our five flavors with several tastings (I happily ate every single macaroon!) that were delivered to our home. The toughest job was narrowing the flavors down to five, but thankfully we can reorder all the time! I wanted elegance, romance and an experience we and our guest would never forget. She completely crushed it, 500 macaroons which really meant 1,000 cookies, finding there match which was no easy task but she took it on with the most joyous attitude and shared little previews along the way. Jess was prompt for delivery (way out in Fallbrook) set up our display and coordinated with our planner and florist to make sure that our dessert table was stunning. The designs were impeccable; down to the speckles, gold leaf details and the colors. We even had the sweetest set of macaroons waiting on our sweetheart table waiting for us, decorated with "Bride & Groom" and that attention to detail did not go unnoticed. She packed us to go boxes which was so appreciated because as hosts of a wedding you sometimes miss the opportunity to raid the sweets table. Two days later the macaroons were still just as soft and delicious as the day of. We loved that our cake was also packed so that we could enjoy it or save it for next year! You order and pay up at the counter, they hand you a number stand, then hunt for a place to sit. There were groups of people hanging out and "brunching", while others were alone working in laptops. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to concentrate in there with all the noise. Anyhoo, I ordered the benedict, which came with a side of potatoes. Looked very appetizing! Unfortunately, I found everything to be on the salty side, especially the potatoes. My friend ordered their breakfast "burrito" filled with veggies and a protein of sorts (please look up the menu to find out what is inside). The burrito was more like a wrap, so not your typical burrito, but it was tasty! It came with a spicy sauce on the side and fruit. It didn't really need the sauce because the burrito was pretty flavorful; but if you wanted a extremely slight kick, add the sauce. I also took home a rolled Nutella pastry. It was very rich, flaky, and drizzling with Nutella. I ate it (only half) when I got home and I remembered the guy asking if I wanted it warmed up. I should have done that. Overall, it is a great place to meet up with friends and chat up a storm. Trust me, no one will hear your conversations. Would I come back? Sure. Although it is pretty far, I would probably try one of their drinks and something else on the menu, and maybe ask for no salt on the potatoes.
