And the girl didn't have to lie that they make that tea a different way every time, when on the website it says it they way I wanted it. Stopped by this morning with my wife before catching my commuter train. There were 3ppl in front of me which is a shorter line than usual. However, it took forever to get our drinks. The girl taking orders must have been very new at the job - haven't seen her before, and she struggled to find the right buttons... I ordered 2 nonfat cappuccinos, semi dry. First it took a while to find the nonfat option, then she had to ask someone in the back what she's supposed to enter for semi dry option... anyways I then waited for the drinks and guess what - only one of them came out. I checked my receipt and she did charge me for two. At this point it was getting very close to my train time and this supposedly a quick stop for coffee was turning into a mess. I do business all over the country and Starbucks is my coffee shop. In town, my clients asked me if I would arrange to meet at a Starbucks. Of all the Starbucks in all the world in all the little towns, I walked into this one. Lucky me. It's a small shop with a warm atmosphere. For its size it has a surprising amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of parking. It was a nice day so we chose to sit outside. When I visit Starbucks I always give myself a little extra time in case it is busy (now there's a problem we all wish we had). And it got busy while I was waiting for my guests. The baristas seemed to buckle down, step up their game and handle it all with aplomb. At the register Stephanie took our orders - great smile, good attitude with a sense of humor. When my name was called to pick up my drinks, they were all topped off with a big smile and a thank you from Renee. Orders taken correctly? Check. Drinks made correctly? Check. My clients happy? Out of 3 staff members only one new what it is and how to make it. If you don't know it's here, you'll never see it because its tucked away and there really isn't any signage from the freeway or the main street. Most of the peeps that are patrons here are locals but that's not to say you won't find a tourist here or there as well. I seem to find myself going here before or after visits to the beach--and it's occasionally a pit stop when i'm out cycling. It's a great alternative to the downtown (can we even call it that) Carlsbad where you'll get a ton of sandy beach-goers. If you have pets, a lot of pet owners bring their babies here and sit on out the outdoor patio. There's seems to be plenty of seating but there's not much of a view unless you love the site of an asphalt parking lot. The service here tends to be slow so just a bit of a warning there. read more

This location can only earn two stars until they change out their espresso machine. Starbucks lost a class action lawsuit just last year. They were caught serving short espresso shots. The espresso machine at this one location still does just that. Order a double espresso and it comes out about 3/4 the correct size. Order a triple espresso and you might as well have ordered a double at any other Starbucks location and saved yourself the extra cash. The air system in this rather cramped location could also use improvement. Our son always asks us to go to another location complaining, "it's just too stuffy in there". They have some shining stars working behind the counter-- Adam, Dennis and Chelsea come to mind. Each of them are great communicators and work hard. Just improve the air circulation and replace that cheating espresso machine. read more

I love Starbucks, just not this location: I am a Starbucks regular. I order the same drink every time I go in. It's an iced espresso drink with a little bit of toffee nut syrup. Unfortunately, Starbucks has made a recent policy change that can only hurt their business. Effective this past weekend, Starbucks has intentionally re-calibrated all of their espresso machines. They claim to have done so in misguided effort to "save water". Their new adjustment to their machines reduces the size of every espresso shot by about HALF. Now, in theory, saving water is always a good thing--right? But Starbucks isn't doing this to "save water" at all. They are doing to to simply raise their revenues. Starbucks is now forcing any person who buys their espresso to DOUBLE their espresso order get the same amount of espresso they are used to. It's as simple as that. As for the mantra they're forcing their staff to spill out: "It doesn't alter the flavor of your drink at all! It also doesn't affect the amount of caffeine!" Nonsense. Half the portion certainly DOES affect both the flavor of your drink and the amount of caffeine in your beverage. Just how stupid does Starbucks think we are? This particular location has a terribly weak wifi signal as well. It's impossible to connect to their wifi from about half of their tables. This could easily be remedied by a $20 wifi signal enhancing device from Target. They just don't care. TIPS: 1) Ask for your espresso containing drinks to be made with espresso "long shots". For the same price you can circumvent their new greedy ruling. 2) Rather than waiting around in the excessively long line of this location simply buy your Starbucks drink from the Starbucks counter within the Ralphs right next door. read more

I've got one word for you, my little Starbucks drinking amigos: SALTED CARAMEL HOT CHOCOLATE. The rules of mathematics do not apply to the words in this beverage's name. This drink transcends the limits of space and time. And, it's delicious. So when I was vacationing in Carlsbad, I wanted one, and I ordered some for spouse and I at this location. "One small and one large salted caramel hot chocolate, please!" She writes it on the cups and starts to walk away. My husband asks her something about the ingredients in the drink, and she says they follow a recipe but they ran out of salt. We stare at her for a moment before asking, "you're out of salt?" Yeah, we ran out of the salt. Spouse and I are a little dumbfounded. "So... you can't make us the drink?" No, we're out of salt. "But you're going to make the drink anyways?" She just stares at us, like, "what's the problem?" Nevermind! We don't want you to make us a drink and tell us it's what we ordered when one of the critical ingredients is missing. Remember the Monty Python "Dead Parrot" sketch, where a slug is offered as a replacement for the fine Norwegian Blue? If my salted caramel hot chocolate was like that dead parrot, except not dead, and not a parrot either, the drink they were going to make as a replacement would be a lot like a slug, especially since salt KILLS slugs whereas it doesn't kill parrots. That metaphor turned out to be even better and wierder than I anticipated. But yeah, the salted caramel hot chocolate has lovely plumage. Just make sure they make it with salt. Otherwise, that drink wouldn't "VOOM" if you pumped four million volts into it. read more

This Starbucks is cozy and great for weekend evening working sessions. It offers a couple of sofa chairs, four wooden tables/chairs, and two high tables with stools. I personally like the wooden table and chair combo - I feel I keep a straighter posture. I have the place all to myself tonight! I love that they are playing holiday music. It's relaxing and productive - with white noise to keep me focused. The baristas are really nice, as well. That always makes the difference. read more

This is a decent and convenient Starbucks location. I stop here sometimes on my way to work because the Starbucks location closer to my office ALWAYS has a long line in the morning. I come to this location because it is in a small strip mall so there is plenty of parking out front and i can get in and out in just a few minutes. The employees here are consistently friendly and welcoming to me. They have some nice outdoor seating as well for the mornings that I want to do a little work using their free wifi. This is a great and close location to home, but unfortunately they have had nothing but bad luck with their store managers. As a result, the employees are also in the dark (and I don't mean roast). Clueless about the perks (again, not coincidental) for Gold Starbucks Card holders, completely moody depending upon the time of day and how slammed they are. This location cannot handle large morning crowds (over ten people). I actually go to a location that is farther from home just so that I don't support this location, in fact, I have reduced my stops at any Starbucks as a result of the displeasure experiences here. If they don't understand what Customer Service is all about, then forget them, the entire lot of them. read more

Super friendly staff! Gentleman taking orders was personable, another barista in line helped a customer with their "hidden menu" order... The "regulars" though are less than welcoming. They complain that there are "strangers" taking their regular tables and that the music should be Jazz, and they think other patrons are too loud...I've gotten started at since I got here and I'm just quietly working on my laptop. Nice location, only people who live around go in. Outside has a nice fountain in the small plaza. The inside is almost always needing a quick sweep or wipe and the chair layout is... different. This is my favorite Starbucks!! I have been coming here for a few years now and I've never had a bad experience. My drinks are always made perfectly and the staff there is always telling me new drink ideas to mix up my daily routine! The staff is consistently friendly and knowledgeable! They can be busy in the mornings but you can tell all the employees are hustling.. This place has coffee! I really like the blonde roast. It's strong and tasty with some half and half and raw sugar. I like to bring my own cup so I can feel better about not contributing to the trashing of our planet. The service is always friendly and some days I even get a free joke from the cashier. There were a couple of things wrong with my visit at this particular Starbucks location. I ordered a Peppermint Mocha frappuccino and mine didn't have any of the dark chocolate bits like it was supposed to have. I shouldn't have to ask as it is a custom that's included. The service is all around bad. Train your employees to yell out the orders if they don't ask for the customer's name. I was waiting for my order to be at least said but I had to get up and find it waiting on the counter. read more

When I walked in they were mopping the floor. The business is clearly open, but they were mopping the floor so that there were no tables and you could barely walk on the floor. Then I walk towards the bathroom and see that the bathroom is closed. It's closed for cleaning. And it will not reopen. The guy mopping the floor says in a stern voice that the bathroom is closed. Now I have to find another bathroom. At least the coffee is okay. try to think a little bit harder about the customer experience next time read more

I go to Starbucks every day, rain or shine. I used to avoid this location even though it was the closest to my home. This has become my favorite location. There has been a major transformation in attitude and atmosphere in the last couple of months. A staffing change has had a major impact on the morale of employees. The change is like night and day. Hands down my favorite walk in starbucks I have only had one bad experience with this place and it was over a year ago with a lady that worked later in the day. I come into this Starbucks everytime I work a morning shift (so Fri-sun) and I am ALWAYS greeted very warmly. I always get the same drink and little breakfast sandwhich every single morning and one of the morning workers that I see everytime started to notice! I believe his name is Jamie? But when I went in today and looked for his name tag it just said JP. I will figure it out and write it in the tips because he is the best starbucks employee I have ever come across for numerous reasons. For one, he remembered my name (which is pretty easy because I wear my name tag in) but he also remembered my drink just the way I like it!!! That takes skill when you serve as many people in one day as they do. He also is always in a good mood. there have been a couple mornings that I come in half asleep at 5:30am and he is wide awake and seems to be happy to be there which is great. he has a consistent attitude and I've noticed that other customers like him also. So props to the managers on hiring JP, or maybe he is a manager haha, but either way he is a great employee. There is another employee that stood out to me just this morning named Dennis. He was very sweet to me and welcoming and made me laugh which is hard to do in the morning haha. So as you can see by my rant, this starbucks is my favorite, I love the employees and they always make my drink perfectly and get me in and out quickly so I can get to work on time!!! It's always clean in there and there is a cute patio outside to sit and sip your starbucks if you aren't in a hurry like me!
