Comparatively to other Starbucks in the area, this location has to be recognized as the one with the least amount of joy amongst the employees. I only say this on the basis of having seen some of the employees when they worked for different locations and while at those locations I've seen smiles and an overall sense of ease now as I interact with them or observe them at this location, their faces are blank focused in on their tasks, no expression except for the scripted "good morning" with a smile. Smile quickly fades, and it's back to the hustle and bustle. It seems as though the tension comes from leadership and that's no fault of her own. The store often gets busy but the stress of it spills over to the employees and it makes for a very sterile/militant atmosphere. I've heard the tone given to the employees when the stress is rising, I can't say I wouldn't be in a shut down mental state if it was me working there. Coffee and pastries are how are the reason people go in, the personalities are what keep them coming back. More often than not, my coffee is lukewarm warm, slightly warmer than the vibe in the store. 7th & fig deserves honorable mention. That was my go to location for 2.5 years and sometimes I'd go twice in a day simply because the staff was such a joy to say hi and catch up with. read more

I work in the same building and have ordered from here dozens of times and to be fair, have never had a problem. This morning however, I placed a mobile order at 9:34 and it was supposed to be ready at 9:42. Usually, orders are ready far earlier. However, today it was clear they missed my order. At 9:50, after arriving and waiting, I noticed that walk-ins were already getting their order. So I went up to the counter and asked about my order. Guy said they were just about to make it....I watched him and saw that he gave something to the girl making the orders and she then made mine right away. Translation - "We forgot this one". This is a great place to come for coffee and espresso if you are staying at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles - it's right across the street from the Hotel. This Starbucks is in a perfect location for all of us that work in this building. Very conveniently on the concourse level. It use to get really packed during morning rush hour but now with a new Starbucks opening a block away it is much more manageable to stop by and get something. The staff is fairly friendly here and if you are a usual they will remember you by name. Even though its a small little location they do have plenty of food "on the go" options. I would definitely recommend this Starbucks to those in the area. *As usual the biggest issue is parking if your driving in the area. I don't visit Starbucks in DTLA much since I don't live or work in the area. However, having worked at Starbucks as a Barista and a Supervisor one would expect an uniformity toward the customers and a level of service and meeting the needs and expectations of the customers from every single Starbucks store. This one met none of that. First off, unless you're a coffee stand how can you not have a restroom? Do you seriously expect customers to cross the street to the subway stop at Pershing Square to use the facilities? How is it possible that they didn't arrange for facilities within the building? I mean, even the crazies in Beverly Hills have that arrangement. Secondly, while the menu of each and every Starbucks is uniform and efficient, it is well-known that there is a hidden menu. On top of which, every Barista knows that it is their duty to go above and beyond for the customer. So how is it possible that the gentlemen behind the cash register had the temerity to tell me my request for my drink that I am paying for with my money will not be made because that's not what's on the menu. It's not like I asked for alcohol in a drink. I asked for it to be blended. I really wonder what coffee did they use for my macchiato that went cold within 3 minutes. This is by far the worst run Starbucks I've ever been to. They can't figure out how to get drinks out in order. I always have to place my mobile order at least 15 min ahead and half the time I'm still waiting for my drink. This Starbucks is in my office building and I'm consistently unimpressed with customer service. Orders gets mixed up, employees are new every week and not trained st all. Don't know what they have and how to prepare. Most recently new guy at register asked me three times to repeat my order: a simple cup of coffee and oatmeal, because he was literally filling asleep. When I got oatmeal and went all the way up to my office I discovered they forgot to put blueberries which I paid for and repeated three times. I had to go all way back to ask for it. Be careful with this location, if you have any type of food allergy. I was given a simple coffee but there was cross contamination with the milk they put in. This small mistake could have caused a very severe, life-threatening reaction, so I'm glad I had my medicine. The barista/cashier Xavier was very nice and apologetic, however I was disappointed with the professionalism of the store manager. She made no effort to take charge of the situation and provide good customer service. Even as I was talking to the barista about my situation, she continued to re-stock inventory. Please see my 5-star review of another Starbucks in DTLA. I've frequented other locations in DTLA hundreds of times over the past 4 years. So, I have a strong frame of reference for comparison. This location appears to be poorly managed. 4/5 of my mobile app breakfast orders are out of stock upon arrival (even though other first choices were already listed as "temporarily out of stock"). When your second or third choice keeps surprising you as out of stock after arriving, there's something wrong. The majority of breakfast choices seem to be always out of stock no matter what time of day. I discussed this several times with staff and they were friendly and apologetic. But, an apology doesn't change the fact that a customer has to keep making trips for no reason. At the very least, accurate inventory needs to be kept so my mobile app doesn't allow me to repeatedly purchase something that isn't there. Management needs to step it up ASAP. This is one store where the mobile order process is a complete failure. I work in the building and I have a 12 minute walk to the building. Everyday they say my order will be ready 4 to 7 minutes. They usually get it right 1 out of 5 times. Most of the times I'm sitting there waiting for my drink. Today I watched someone walk in behind me, get in line and order and then walk out before me. Took 15 to 20 mins to get my drink. Makes absolutely no sense and they can't say it's because they have a lot of mobile orders because I watch how the barista fumbles around in the back. Take my advice and don't go here. There is a great barista place in the Cal bank building. Great coffee and way better food then Starbucks. read more

Today, I wanted to have coffee with less milk, they gave us a coffee with a cup almost full of foam, so I had to come back, in trying to ask a question to the women making the coffee she didn't even let me say anything, immediately she said with a very rude tone of voice "I KNOW how to make cappuccinos." This is bunker hill's best starbucks. Serving up the US bank tower and all cross traffic near the 5th x Grand location, this crew is friendly, fast, and on point. They're located in the same ground-level plaza as Mendocino Farms. They have a separate person getting food, orders, and making drinks, so even at the morning caffeine rush, you are in and out in a jiffy, without feeling rushed. They still say hi, good morning, how are you, and have a nice day. They've even drawn smiley faces on the top of my drink amidst morning chaos, which made my day :) read more

Recently Starbucks opened up another location across from Pershing Square. Prior to the new store the service at this location was great. They knew your name, remembered your order (if you were a regular) and we're quick. It now seems like the staff that remains have no sense of urgency and do not care about customer service. I personally have witnessed orders incorrectly taken and or forgotten with no apology. While I remain hopeful that whomever is in charge will do something about it. I've come in here several times lately and it's because of the staff. One afternoon as I was on my way in Kory was dealing with a homeless woman who was "unique" to say the least. Poor woman clearly had mental Issues and Kory approached the situation with a little lighthearted humor. (Clearly he's dealt with this type of person before) Needless to say he was able to get her out of the store with less of a scene than she had created. Kudos Kory. I absolutely HATE how starbucks is and continues to coward down to the masses. SB needs to get it through their heads that we are paying a premium for coffee. I know I'm not alone when i say that I do not want to go to an establishment that caters to the homeless by letting them stink up the place and shower in the bathroom sink.
