This location has one of the fastest and hardest-working baristas ever....but I only saw this barista once! Customer service on subsequent visits have been good, too...staff have generally been positive and helpful. There is decent counter seating and plenty of outdoor seating in the common areas when the weather is nice. I do find parking difficult as the store is tucked in a corner of Congressional Plaza (which is usually pretty busy). But this is a great place to get a coffee or tea if you happen to be in the area...

I don't understand the terrible reviews for this Starbucks. I went right around opening this morning (~6:20am) after I finished an orangetheory class a few doors down, and the staff was incredibly friendly and efficient despite the early hour. I got the bacon egg bites, which were heated up for me and absolutely delicious. I also got the cafe misto, which was fabulous as usual. The barista even asked what roast I wanted for the misto, which I've never been asked before. The store is very clean on the inside, with one large table and some barstools. The area around Starbucks has great outdoor seating, too.

Good customer service! I've visited many times. This review is for (1/27/19). Located @far end of Congressional Shopping Center this is a small Starbucks w/bar height seating along the window & serving counter. I ordered the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte & Sausage breakfast sandwich. See Photo. Both served fresh & hot. Delicious! Great friendly customer service.

One of the busiest Starbucks I've been to & the three men crew were handling their business. Each one was in their designated station taking care of the non stop influx of customers. Speaking of customers, the herd wasn't too restless with the exception of an elderly gentleman with a heavy Western European accent who did not appreciate the person ahead of us with her many inquiries & long ordering process. I actually got a tickle out of it & already made up in my mind that I was going to let him go ahead of me. That was until he yelled for another cashier, who after dumping two containers of ice hopped on the register & assisted him. When it was my turn, the Barista apologized for the wait. I stated no worries & gave him my simple order of a Tall, Green Tea Lemonade with Mango instead of Peach. He repeated my order, scanned my App & I was good to...plus I got a free upgrade to Gold status (limited time offer). After a few past efforts of trying to get a Coconut Milk/Vegan friendly coffee/latte, I still seem to have a small allergic reaction, so I delight in the teas, lemonades & snacks. For a corner store located in a shopping plaza, its one of the smaller stores I've been to. Yet, the traffic control had a good flow, it was stocked, well kept & has a nice size patio. I will state that once a customer places their order, they should try to find somewhere else to wait besides being front & center of the pick up station.

Bar seating at Starbucks faces a great window! This Starbucks had prominent recycling bins too!

You pick your pastries from the self-serve shelves. Some items looked like they had been sitting out for a while and were a little dry, while others had just been restocked and looked much fresher. Most of the selection leans toward buttery, laminated pastries, such as croissants, Danishes, and croffles rather than baguettes or rolls. They also have fresh cakes displayed near the counter. The two pastries we had were both good and satisfying. The pain aux raisins had a moist texture with a gentle sweetness. The croffle itself was nicely buttery and delicious, although the cream on top was a bit too heavy for my taste. Prices felt reasonable for the quality and location. Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, the coffee was only lukewarm, which was a letdown. Parking really depends on the time and day. We were lucky to find a spot right in front, but the plaza gets busy since there are several popular stores/restaurants, so it can be competitive if you're aiming to park close by. Overall, I'm happy to have another French-inspired Asian bakery option in Rockville.

There's seating inside, but the seating area is pretty small and some people were at tables looking like they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. It was a nice morning, so we were able to grab an outside picnic table. The service was decent. One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.

Any Marylander of the Boomer and GenX generation knows about O'Donnell's RUM BUNS. I used to come here with family back in its heyday and these were served table side before our meal. How crazy is that, a nice lil somewhat sinful dessert BEFORE some MD crab?! Those were the days! The rum buns are more nostalgia more than anything, I wouldn't say they'll blow your socks off, but hey, nostalgia is nostalgia. Well, I'll need to dine in here for a full and complete verdict, but my quick grab and go visit was a tad chaotic. Service for taking orders could improve - you walk in, there's a seafood counter to your left, bakery counter to your right (both were unmanned when I walked in) and in the middle is a deli section with the cash register where I assume they take orders. We stood there for a few good minutes before getting anyone's attention despite the fact a manager asking staff (not customers) if everyone was being helped. Clearly staff did not know who was waiting to check out, take orders or just waiting for their orders to arrive. So it was just weird. No one greeting you as you walk in either, it just also weird because there's no clear line anywhere you stand. Otherwise, rum buns were as I remembered them. Also picked up crab dip and chicken salad from the grab and go section from the back and they were just ok, not bad, not great. So will come again for a future visit hoping to have a much better meal and experience!

Tatte has a lot of seating, however, they are so popular it often feels small when waiting in line to order. A few times I have visited I could not find a table and had to take my latte to go. If I visit outside their busier hours or I get lucky I have snagged a table and had the luxury of drinking my latte at a table inside. Despite how crowded it is inside I can always hear my friends and carry on conversation indoors easily. Occasionally it has been hard to hear when your order is ready so I definitely recommend checking in at the pickup area to make sure you get your latte while it is hot. So far my favorite latte is the Black Sesame Latte with nondairy milk. It is not too sweet, a little nutty, and so smooth. I especially love visiting Tatte in the fall for their version of a pumpkin spice latte. The syrup they use is dairy free which is challenging to find. I do wish Tatte had more vegan options, and more clearly labeled on the menu what can be modified to be vegan. Part of the reason I have not tried any of the food is because navigating the menu as a vegan is challenging. I hope they can make some changes so I can have breakfast or lunch with my latte in the future. For now I love visiting Tatte for a treat yo self moment. The lattes are my favorite in Rockville and a wonderful pick me up if I need to brighten my day.
