We enjoyed our dinning experience at the Starlite diner tonight. Stephanie, our waitress, was polite, attentive and helpful. We ordered French onion soup. It was tasty and well prepared. The salad bar was fully stocked with fresh veggies, pasta salad, potato salad, beets and others. The many dressings were not labeled. Labeling them would be helpful. The French dip sandwich was excellent. We also ordered the chopped sirloin with gravy. It came with a side of cauliflower and full access to the salad and soup bar. Great meal, great staff, Covid codes all being followed to the T. First dining inside experience since February. We are from NY. Our Covid standards are higher than most because of what we have been through. This place is clean, felt safe & welcomes. Outdoor seating available. Please note that this is a DINER. It's not going to be a 5 star hotel but if your hungry the food is good (even for my picky 10 year old). My son ate all of his food every time we went. The service is great. They come by frequently to check on you. The booths have juke boxes at them which is cool, there's a fish tank and a "lounge" area with what looks like a sky on the ceiling. My mom and I enjoy liver and onions, it's hard to find a place that makes it good. We figured we would try Starlite Diner because they had liver and onions. We were warmly greeted by the host and seated immediately. Katrina came right over with the Lunch Special Menu as well as the full menu. She was friendly and attentive to our needs. I asked her what were the best sellers on the lunch menu and she said that the Prime Rib Sandwich was ordered the most. I was in. The Prime Rib Sandwich was loaded with prime rib with fried onions on a Focaccia roll with Au Jus on the side for $9.79. In addition you had your choice of French Fries, 3 Pierogies, Onion Rings or Fruit Salad. The meal also included a cup of soup. There were 3 offerings, and I chose the Beef Barley with Mushrooms. Katrina was spot on - the sandwich and onion rings were delicious and filing. My husband decided on a Ham and Cheese Omelet. It was served with home fries and rye toast. The omelet was huge. Visiting PA for the 4th of July weekend just a simple getaway, we stumbled upon this diner in search of breakfast due to the lack of real breakfast from our hotel. My boyfriend and I (both minorities in this very rural area and diner) saw on the daily special they had an omelet called the Crazy Omelet. My wife and I were there last night. We ordered some fish dinners. Everything was going fine and our waitress had an accident and accidentally dropped her tray. That is not how a business should be run. You don't have owners who put their waitresses down in front of customers that is the worst thing you can do as an owner! However after over twenty minutes our server had visited every table around and even chatted up people seated after us. She couldn't have done more to avoid us. First, the ambiance: This diner has a lot of chrome, neon, and '50s-style booths. Very nice! Second, the food: The meals include the Soup & Salad Bar with the normal array of selections. My main meal was the "Broiled Stuffed Combo" ($17.95). The combo included crab stuffing inside a broiled Haddock, shrimp (2), and mushroom caps (2). The fish was tender & flaky--very good. Unfortunately, the crab stuffing overpowers the shrimp and the mushroom choices, and the stuffing is a little too breaded. Third, the drinks: The diner includes a small lounge, so a full bar service is available. I ordered a Guinness and it came in a "Tom Collins glass"--not a pint. Weird and somewhat emasculating, so I only ordered one. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer Irish beers in Imperial Pint glasses--not a glass that should have a tiny umbrella sitting at the top! Fourth, the service: My server, Nicole, was prompt, friendly, and very attentive. Well done Nicole! Last, I don't know about the myriad of food choices in Allentown, but the Starlite Diner is just off highway 78 (exit 49A) and it offers a unique dining experience. My BLT wrap had one slice of bacon and a ton of lettuce on it. The cheesesteak was sauce and onions and had tomato's and onions no sauce. STAY AWAY FROM BLT Clubs. Once asked for a lettuce wrap and they gave me one slice of lettuce when I asked for a bit more to eat my sandwich with the same owner threw lettuce in a container and handed it to me. Very poor customer service, very poor attitude on take out. $63 for roughly 4 slices of bacon, 1/2 loaf (maybe) of cheap semi stale bread, and some meat tossed on a roll with tomatoes.
