I'm not a coffee snob. I don't care if its coffee beans pooped out by some unknown cat like creature from Kuala Lumpur. Or its a packet of Folgers instant coffee crystals. I just want some coffee with a little creamer and I'm good. You will never find me in a conversation about coffee, pontificating like its some fine wine. I just really don't care. However, I do like the coffee here. Its good. Ok, Ill pontificate a little bit. Its very rich and creamy and doesn't taste like it has dirt in it. That's the best I can do. The employees are always friendly and best of all this location is a great hang. I've brought the kids down to get mommy a quick pick me up and for them, a little sweet treat like a Chocolate Glazed Doughnut. They had for awhile if you checked in you got a complimentary doughnut. You cant pass that up if you have kids. There has been a few occasions where I met clients for a coffee meeting. Everyone I've brought thought the place was awesome and had awesome coffee. There's is no doubt as to why this place has 5 stars. I found States via Yelp as I was going to be in Martinez anyway. Came in and the decor is extremely "vibey" and the designs are simple. With all the coffee shops where I live, this place shits on all of them by x1000. Got a regular coffee and a iced vanilla latte. Another enticing thing about this shop is the free donut check-in. We got two blueberry VEGAN donuts and it was dense and delicious, which enhanced my coffee experience here. I moved to Martinez about a year ago, and I only started coming here a few months ago and I regret it immensely. I love this coffee shop. Maybe it's just me and my millennial aesthetic for minimalism and open brick, but whenever I sit at States I feel soothed and peaceful. The free vegan donut is cakey and perfect for dipping, a little dense for just eating plain. I love their oat milk and their latte's are perfect always. Me and my wife come here often.. great place in downtown Martinez. The environment is really chill-back type of environment. Not loud at all but relaxing inside and it has a big seating area now that they expanded. Also has outdoor seating which is nice. Now the coffee is so good! I always get a vanilla latte! I worked for Starbucks and never understood how people can come into a coffee shop numerous times a week but here I find myself going to States 1-3x a week. I know, I was puzzled at first when that was their only non-dairy option but I have since then swooned over it's deliciousness. Their espresso is smooth, with that mix of their homemade vanilla syrup and the thickness of the oat milk: it's just heaven sent. The only thing I can say is that the drinks can be inconsistent but I don't hesitate to let them know when something is off. M E R C H: Besides their yummy drinks, they have awesome merchandise. I absolutely love this coffee shop. I drive from Suisun on a regular basis for the coffee and the atmosphere. Living in Seattle for 11 years has definitely turned me into a coffee snob, and I am not ashamed to say that I am very picky about my coffee and my coffee shops. The cold brew is tangy and delicious, and their honey vanilla latte with oat milk is my all time favorite. I could drink it all day, everyday. Even those who did not believe in alternative milk were swayed by the wonderful creaminess of the oat milk :-p. It's a really great place to work in as well. Lots of space, open till 7 everyday, and adequate lighting. It does seem to have gotten a lot more popular over the past few months. I remember it being fairly empty during the weekdays, but now, every day I've shown up it's pretty much packed! The secret is definitely out! But I'm not surprised, the coffee is great, the baristas are all very nice and it's definitely a sweet spot to study or just chill. read more

This place was a bit hard to figure out at first. A line outside in order to go in & place your order. Coffee was delicious though, staff was really nice, folks outside in line were even nice, we were all freezing together. I thought the indoor seating was pretty uncomfortable, tall metal chairs at tall tables. Nothing "cozy" here, and nothi g really for small kids. Outdoor seating is also metal chairs, but it was too cold to be out there. Tried the "apple coffee cake", which wasn't coffee cake-like, it was just basically a bran muffin with some chunks of apple in it. Meh. We didn't finish it between 2 of us. Maybe I just ordered the wrong treat? But, 4 stars for the coffee quality & nice staff. Pretty easy parking on a late weekday morning. read more

What a great morning at States! The staff was phenomenal. This was only my second time here. The staff was attentive, professional and seemed very knowledgeable. I didn't know what to order this morning so i asked for suggestions and explained what my usual preference was. Aerial recommended the Honey latte with an extra shot of espresso (I believe) and I LOVED it. I also tried the blueberry donut as well as the bacon and onion croissant which were also great. The atmosphere is calm enough to laser focus on the work that I had to do but, euphoric and high energy enough to just hangout over a cup of yummy goodness. Nice large location. The first time I went here, I discovered their AMAZING banana bread. Best banana bread I've ever tasted. But then the next two times I went there to get more banana bread, they had run out!!!! Please guys, make more baked goods, so you don't run out by 3 PM. I had called ahead to try to find out if they had banana bread, but the phone rang and rang and rang and nobody answered it. I love this coffee, the espresso is strong with a smooth finish. I love the honey latte iced. Their baked goods are yummy too! Unfortunately today I had the worst service, no greeting, no smile, in fact the opposite of a smile, like a legit unhappy face. Super rude when he spoke. States gets everything right. As a non coffee drinker I can't really comment on the quality or taste of the coffee (although I do enjoy the oatmilk latte). However, from the roasting room to the outdoor patio with new plants, everything is minimalist heaven. My first experience at states was an engagement party in the roasting room on a Friday night. The decor and atmosphere are top notch. My wife and I now regularly frequent the downtown Martinez location for date mornings. Lots of bikers use this as a pit stop on their way to and from Benicia so don't be alarmed to see many! It's also a dog friendly patio meaning you might hear some barking from time to time but we don't mind! We love to bring our little bichon. The mercantile section of the shop is my highlight. We love candles and our absolute favorite candle we've ever had we got from here. They also have stylish t shirts and recently added sweatshirts and hoodies for the cold season. States is worth a trip off of the freeway even it's your only reason to go to Martinez. read more

My favorite coffee shop in the area! I've tried a few places now and none of them are as close as States. I'm the cappuccino type - strong flavor without *too* much milk. It always fragrant, never tastes diluted (like many other places, won't drop names) and my cup is always consistent no matter which barista is working that day. My husband gets an iced dark chocolate mocha. It's not overly sweet and doesn't have that generic 'artificial' chocolate flavor (mocha drinkers know what I mean, I think). We both get oat milk. I get their cookies, banana or coffee bread once in a while. I do wish they had some sort of loyalty program. Daily/weekly visits can get quite costly :). read more

Solid coffee spot! Came here for a meet up with my girlfriend since we enjoyed the other spot Farm & Flour. They have the same coffee types here and I really like the rustic feel of Everything. They in my have realistically one line though, so I was stuck in this one for almost 15 minutes before I even ordered. They have small food items here like banana bread and donuts, but not as much like F&F. Solid spot though! I ordered the vanilla latte and some banana bread. The bread hit the spot and I enjoyed the coffee. I wish they had some more food items, but no biggie! read more

What?! Over 500 reviews AND it has a 5-star rating?! This place I had to try...and I was not disappointed!! Already, coming in the setting is spacious, attractive and chill. Looking at the prices, they are quite moderate. I tried a basic black coffee as well as an espresso. Both were quite delicious and smooth. The espresso had the nice touch of being served with a small glass of water. I also indulged in a coconut donut. It was not overly sweet and perfectly delightful. States deserves all the 5 stars in the world. Not many places compare to Home in SF for me but this place comes really close. A friend told me about it and one day, I decided to go since it was on the way to Vallejo. The line wasn't too bad and the wait was less than 5 minutes. I tried a vanilla latte with oat milk which is their non dairy milk and it was probably the best latte I've had in a while. The second time I went, I tried their cold brew and also had a maple donut and once again, states did not disappoint! When I tell you guys that I love donuts, I luvvvvvv donuts and even though it was on the smaller side, it was filling and paired well with the cold brew. The inside was pretty cute and super vibey, both times, I received amazing service. Although it's on the pricier side of coffee, it's very high quality and definitely worth every penny. read more

Thought I would leave my picky, two cents for the minority. Not fitting to my taste and I haven't had the best experiences in the past. Haven't tried their breads. Been here several times in the past and stopped going because it wasn't for me. Straightforward menu with good quality. Donuts aren't bad, but I've had donuts and coffee more fitting to my needs. If you like strong coffee, they got it. The customer service is where it has been subpar on many occasions before. Often fast, but communication and friendliness could've been better. I've had better customer service at big businesses. One more than one occasion, they were just standing there doing something and I'm waiting for them to say something for more than 5 seconds. Am I supposed to say something first? Then, a few times I ordered a lot of items without them offering me a cup holder or bag. Cool interior and set up with merch. They sold cartons of oat milk, which I thought was cool. Not much parking, because the lot was closed. If you are a coffee person, you'd love it hence the high ratings. The drip coffee cost us $3.00, which is pretty steep for regular drip coffee (it's was good though, but not Philz good). The whole milk, hot chocolate cost $4.50 and the small donuts were $2.00. Frankly, the donuts were not amazing; just normal tasting small-sized, soft donuts with the perfect amount of glaze - nothing special. I asked for a large, half sweet hot chocolate, which wasn't sweet at all and the size was a small. I guess they only have one size for all their drinks? The atmosphere, the taste of the coffee, and the cute wall of things to buy (i.e. Further soap and lotion) made me give States Coffee four stars. We took away a star for feeling super rushed when we ordered. Overall, great place to get coffee if you're in the area for personal business (i.e. jury duty, requesting birth certificate, etc.).
