This was my first visit to Boulder, and loved strolling around downtown. We were in the mood for a great steak, so found this Steakhouse. It has an historic look, upscale and quite comfortable. We were not quite expecting this price point, but decided to stay and splurge. They had a very nice wine list, and full bar as well. The onion soup was quite good - one of the best we had. The steaks were as good as advertised, and cooked perfectly. We were a little disappointed in the creamed spinach - it just wasn't flavorful. Service was impeccable. DO NOT go here! We came for our anniversary dinner and spent $500 for a meal worth $200!! My husband called ahead for the champagne and thank God we arrived early because the sommelier picked a super cheap bottle worth $30 in store they were trying to sell for $200. Since we arrived early we also pre picked our bottle of wine to come out with our steaks and it never came! The steaks were wonderful but we had to drink warm champagne with them which is ridiculous for a place this expensive. My boyfriend and I spent Christmas eve at the new Steakhouse316. I have been to the Aspen location many times and love it, so I was really excited to experience their 2nd location. Wow, the decor is simply gorgeous. It feels like a high power restaurant in NYC or DC. We had reserved a corner booth, and really loved our viewpoint of the fireplace, etc. We started with bubbles and the Creole Oysters, which were fantastic. We then had tableside Caeser, which is a great presentation. And for our main we shared the Cowboy Ribeye and mushroom gnocchi. I like my steak medium, which can be frustrating at restaurants: either it's way under or way over cooked. But Steakhouse got it exactly right, our steak was perfectly cooked. I always love coming here. It is my jam every visit to Boulder. Staff as always was amazing. From making sure I had everything I needed to chit chatting with me cause I visited solo this time. I always get the shisito peppers and some type of red meat. This time I had the filet with truffle butter and it was cooked to perfection. I paired each course with a drink. Since my drinking days are more limited now a days this is my new thing when I go out. I had a smoked Old Fashioned (you gotta try), a glass of red wine and a tawny port with my Cheesecake. The strawberry basil topping was unique but complimented the cheesecake very well. I'd suggest making a reservation cause their seating is limited cause of COVID restrictions. We had a wonderful dinner last night at 316! I celebrated my Birthday with 5 friends. All the food was fantastic and yummy. The service was excellent as always and we were so well taken care of. The Oysters Rockefeller were my favorite appetizer. My Filet was perfectly cooked and I loved all the side dishes. I have a Gluten Allergy and they were so kind to accommodate everything we ordered. Overall, 3 stars is being generous as it was NYE so we were enjoying the evening none the less. To start, the server was nice and came by quickly in the beginning, but then the first round of drinks took a very long time to get followed up with "bread and butter" that just never appeared. It was all downhill from here. We ordered a couple of apps and salads to start and the table side caesar is always a hit. That and the french fries were probably the highlight of the meal. The bread finally landed right before our steaks came out, but when it did, it came out wrapped in a napkin and dropped onto the table...no plate or anything which was a little strange. I would not have cared about this except we were waiting for the bread to eat with the mussel app which by then had just been sitting on the table. Moving onto the main course, our sides and sauces did not show up until most of us were more than halfway through our steaks. This completely defeats the purpose of these, which is why we barely ate them. No server or manager came over to apologize about this and they seemed more worried about breaking down the restaurant than taking care of the table still dining. It was NYE and I have worked in the restaurant industry for a long time, so I understand the headaches and rushes on the holiday, but the fact that no one wanted to make anything right or even apologize for the massive delays and slow service was crazy. We also had another drink just get completely forgotten about during this all. Frankly, when you are paying the prices that they ask, I expect way more. read more

I was very disappointed here. I found it to be very overpriced and like they were cutting corners with quality, the steak was not cooked as we ordered, we ordered medium cooked and was brought medium well done. The atmosphere was nice with ambient music and Victorian ambiance. The steak took over an hour to come out after we ordered it. The server was not around much or easy to get a hold of. Be careful of the wine list I ordered a glass that appeared to be $16 a glass on the wine menu but they made the number 2 look very much like a 1 and my glass was actually $26 when it looked like $16 on the menu. For these prices I expect excellence in service and food but we felt we received sub par service and food. Steaks are upwards of $80. The level of service here is comparable to that of a basic diner type restaurant such as an ihop. When the man who looked like a manager with gray hair and glasses was clearing our plates he was very careless and spilled the salad dressing all over the table and did not acknowledge it or even say sorry or offer to clean it up. There was also a lot of tension in the air amongst the staff and our party did not feel welcome here. Will never be back no thank you! read more

What a great traditional steakhouse located in the beating Heart of Boulder. The Tuna Tar Tar was electric to say the least, garnished with sauces and spices that really make the tuna POP. My filet was a bit overcooked, but this was no issue as the flavor and presentation overshadowed the slight miscalculation in internal temperature. The real attraction at 316 is the bathroom ambiance, I frequent bathrooms and often evaluate a restaurant on how they care for their toilets. Needless to say I was very impressed, one could post up in the 316 bathroom and have a good conversation with a friend or just use the bathroom for its traditional use. I was expecting more from a place that has one of the most expensive burgers and cocktails in town. The burger was OK. it came with grilled onions which were barely cooked. Still pretty raw. I ordered blue cheese dressing on my salad, but salad came with a different dressing. The waitstaff were really nice and got me a new salad. Burger was OK. Our waiter: Well spoken, friendly and professional The food: Easily the best part about the restaurant. Our filets were delicious and Brussel sprouts were fantastic. However, the dessert menu lacked. No creme bruleee? The cheesecake was good, but the orange marmalade was very bitter and we scooped it off the top immediately. Over 4/5, probably will come back for a nice dinner again. Ambience is great, food is very good, but the service was terrible. When you are spending $150-$200 per person for a fine dining experience - this is not it. Our server seemed annoyed all evening. And as a team - the entrees were not brought out at the same time, the table was not cleaned between courses, our courses were dropped by expediters and the server never checked back in. During the last course our server completely disappeared; desert came, but the coffee never did, and there was no one to ask about it. All forgivable serving errors at a mid-level restaurant, but then when our server finally showed back up to drop the bill she was downright rude. We were perplexed by the disconnect between the level of food vs the grumpy, sloppy service. This is not on par with the Flagstaff House or Frasca or even The Kitchen - not by a long shot. read more

Absolute best cocktails and bar dining in Boulder. This is the place to grab dinner if you want a causal but very high-quality meal at the bar. The restaurant is refreshingly adult in the midst of downtown Boulder which is usually packed with undergrads and the service is top tier, a reflection of Steakhouse's Aspen roots. I went with a few friends, all of us from out-of-state, and we found Steakhouse No. 316 while on foot in Boulder. (The nearby restaurant we had planned to visit looked better suited to couples.) We had such a good time @ 316 that we returned two nights later. It had the feel and decor of a restaurant that had been around for a half century. The service wasn't blazing fast but everyone we dealt with was attentive and friendly - from the hostess to the bartender to the tableside Caesar salad preparer to the waiter and crumb sweeper. I believe we had six different steaks, nine or ten side dishes and a few salads and appetizers during our visits. It was all delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Some were in suits, others in jeans and all were in good spirits. If you are a walk-in and offered a table, sit at the bar and wait for a booth, which is much more comfortable. I felt like my steak and the sides were appropriately priced and the sides are large. Though my husband got Crab Legs. It was market price and it was 2 crab legs or 4. 2 for $50 and 4 for $90.
