Passed by this place a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to try it. Came on a Saturday afternoon and they were pretty busy with orders and very honest about it. They told me that my order would probably take about 20 minutes. I'll definitely call in advance next time for pick up. I tried their shrimp rice roll, and roast pork with egg and scallion. Scallion is free to add and egg is 50cents to add. They cost a bit more than your average dim sum place but totally worth it. Their portion sizes are a bit higher than the dim sum size. Each order comes with three rolls. The texture is super smooth and very thin. Soy sauce is not watered down or too salty. Enjoyed both of the rice rolls a lot. If you're not too hungry than one order is more than enough to probably fill you up. They also offer curry fish balls and dumplings which I will be trying in the future. My aunt picked up food from Steam Box on a Sunday and waited over 30 minutes, which is an insane amount of time to wait for rice rolls? I had the bacon corn, but tried a bunch of other rolls since others ordered different things. I would say the bacon corn and the meat lovers was the best one. The beef was woefully disappointing, there was barely any meat! We also had some curry fish balls and fried dumplings. The dumplings were definitely not fresh and made on the premises. They tasted old and like they were frozen before? The curry fish balls were also just spicy - I barely got any curry flavor. The noodles themselves are very thin and a smooth consistency with an al dente texture. Steamed for just the right amount of time to give it a bite but super soft. I ordered a couple rolls which I had fresh and one that I brought into work the next day. The noodles were still good the next day after reheating with a wet paper towel in the microwave. The soy sauce isn't similar to the dim sum restaurants as it lacked that sweetness that most dim sum restaurants serve. It tasted a bit like diluted plain soy sauce so not overly salty but lacking a bit. I think with a bit more tweaks to their soy sauce and it would be a top notch rice noodle stand. The fillings themselves depended on the rolls you order. They were generous with the baby shrimps in the shrimp roll. The beef rice roll had more of a ground beef texture as opposed to the beef paste at most dim sum restaurants. The hometown rice noodle was a bit lacking in toppings, it supposedly has sesame seeds, dried baby shrimp and a pickled veggie. There were about 2-3 itty bitty pieces of the pickled veggie in the noodle itself so I'd probably skip that one next time until they figure out the ratio for the toppings in that one. read more

I ordered four types of rice rolls from here as well as a milk tea. The milk tea, chicken rice roll, beef rice roll and pork were great. I liked that the drink wasn't too sweet like they are at some boba places and the pork rice roll was my favorite. The person who took my order was also very professional and nice. The only reason I am giving three stars is because of the shrimp rice roll. The shrimp was not deveined so the digestive tract/intestine of the shrimp was still clearly intact. (See attached picture) I ate a few before realizing it but was so grossed out by the fact that it was not prepared properly that I couldn't bring myself to finish my meal. One of the best places to get rice rolls. The rice rolls are very smooth in texture and the fillings are good quality. It's so good but the wait is long. I suggest to call ahead. So far I tried the shrimp, beef, hometown, cilantro, and dried shrimp roll. Adding green onions, cilantro and bean sprouts are free of charge. They are usually $5 a box and the shrimp is 50 cents more. My favorite is the hometown roll which contains black sesame, dried shrimp, and dried turnips and the beef rice roll is one of the best I ever had. Was really wowed by the customer service here during COVID. I presume the owner was working that day, and you can tell that she truly cares about her customers - she packed an extra order for her elderly customer and refused to take any cash for it probably since the order was rather large and it became a complimentary type of thing. She double wrapped the bags and tried to finesse a way so that it would be less heavy for grandma to hold. You can call ahead and order (which I didn't know at the time) so I did a walk in and my order came in relatively fast. The noodles were so silky and smooth that it slipped down my mouth in a matter of minutes and I finished my rice noodle order in a matter of minutes! She speaks both english and cantonese, so it's no hassle to order. They have a variety of cheung fun, all made to order and you can customize the ingredients you want inside. The noodles take anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on how busy they are. I think they tend to be busier in the mornings, as it's a popular item for breakfast. It would be a good idea to order on the phone before you go so you don't have to wait around.
