This restaurant has always been a go to for great food and reasonable price. Went there tonight with family for my son's 20th bday....Food was excellent no complaints , however service was WILD. Erica was our waitress with a party of 13. Either she had a bad night or just Hates her job. She was extremely Rude, to the point that it was uncomfortable.... She was extremely inpatient and unprofessional. I won't even go into detail but it was HORRIBLE! She was yelling with her response to a question , sarcastic, and seemed we were bothering her. Not my style to speak on these situations, but this was honestly shocking to experience from a person who works in "Customer Service ". End of story. read more

Steer N' Stein is so Rancho Cucamonga. If you want to eat at a place that's decently priced and represents this town, this is it. It's literally a steak place but they have burgers too and a few other items but their menu is not full of non-sense items, it's straight to the point. They're located off of Archibald and Arrow and can be easy to miss if you're not from here. They have their own parking lot with lots of spaces. The decor inside is old school wine barrel meets old west. This town was once a well known wine town so there's a lot of memorabilia in the restaurant that displays the towns history. It hasn't changed much since I can remember it, but I've literally been here twice as a kid (that I remember) and now one time as an adult. My friends were craving steak and came here and I asked, "Why didn't you go to Texas De Brazil on Foothill?!" and it turned into an argument. I could not believe you could get a steak and two sides for around $20 in a post covid economy and was convinced the streaks must have been frozen from 2019 for that price. I had to see for myself and came here today at 1:45 p.m. and there was already a line of people waiting to get in because they opened at 2 p.m. The service was excellent, the place was full of nostalgia and they had cherry pepsi which I loved. I had the Stockyard Steak, asked for it to be cooked medium well and also butterflied and it came out more well done than medium but it was still good. One thing I regret was getting the mashed potatoes instead of the baked potato. The mashed potatoes at KFC are better than these mashed potatoes. These mashed potatoes had no flavor and were watery. I also got the side salad and it was good. The cruetons were tasty and looked like they were made in-house. Overall, it's a solid American steak that tastes exactly how you think an American steak would taste like. Came for lunch with a coworker on his recommendation as I am from out of town. Texas roadhouse is my goto however they weren't open until 3PM. I ordered the 1lb sirloin rare and double coleslaw. The steak was perfectly prepared, tender and juicy. They don't use a bunch of seasoning to mask a poor quality steak, they just used salt and let the meat shine on its own. Service was a pleasant young lady who was attentive and made sure our meals were prepared to our satisfaction. My only complaint is that the restaurant is 100 miles from my home. read more

The appetizers were great and I'd order them as my main course if I came back here. The rest of the meal was pretty bad. The ribs were flavorless (I'd rather have Costco ribs), the mashed potatoes were of the instant variety, and the stockyard meat was tough and clunky. My husband and I had dinner at the steer n stein I Rancho Cucamonga we ordered and brought our salad and drinks . But we waited for about 45 minutes for our main course. Apparently there was a mix up in the kitchen. We sat there for a very long time.our server didn't even let us know what was taking so long people were coming in getting served and ate and left. We came here today on a Friday Evening, Immediately we were seated and waited on . We really loved the fast service, our server, a young man named Cody did an outstanding job. He had a great friendly and helpful personality, another young man continually made sure our empty plates were removed. Overall a good experience, and the food was Amazing and reasonably priced. I grew up coming to this place as a kid and now as an adult, it is still one of my favorite places to go for a good steak. I usually get the stockyard steak, a mushroom appetizer and a salad with ranch and it fills me up for the rest of the day. The food at this location is always so good and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. It is always so hit or miss when it comes to ordering steaks at restaurants but somehow, this location always gets it right the first time and is one of the only places where I don't have to worry about getting the wrong thing. The food is perfectly seasoned and it has a ton of flavor no matter what you decide to order. On the plus side, the service is also just as good. Every time I go, I get a different server but the service is always the same - fast and welcoming. If you are looking for a good place to eat, I would honestly come here and look no further. They do tend to get a little busy during their rush hours, but the wait is never too long and it is worth it in the end. :) read more

What can I say about this place? I'll be honest and say the service is on point and your food is great. The Ribs are my favorite. The Full Rack is 23 dollars and the half rack is 20 dollars. How excited I was to take the family to a great steak dinner. We have had bad experiences with steakhouses recently and wanted to try out a new joint. Steer and Stein looked promising! Seated right away. Great start. And then it was downhill from there. Our appetizer was the Mushroom skillet. Looked great. Unfortunately they were very salty and left a weird aftertaste in your mouth. I ordered a Ribeye, mashed taters, and rice (go carbs!). My fiancé ordered the sirloin and a baked potato w a side salad. My kiddo wanted corn doggies and mashed potatoes. Simple enough right? And yet it wasn't. She received her salad. Which was just lettuce and soggy croutons. No cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, hell even a pea would've been fine. The steaks were both very raw despite ordering them medium rare. It was bloody and despite the decent sear, very rare. We sent them back and received them heated up more. We're pretty simple; just salt and pepper on a steak is fine. These steaks had zero flavor. We couldn't even pair with the salty mushrooms to give it flavor. The mashed potatoes came straight out of the box and they must've used margarine because they also tasted flat. I doused it in pepper to try and add something... anything to it. Even my 7 year old wouldn't eat the mashed potatoes and she eats like a garbage disposal. Needless to say, we will not be coming back. I'm disappointed that this wasn't better as we were hoping it would be our new go to. The sign at the door said complaint department 300 mi this way..... might've been a missed sign coming in. I guess the search continues. read more

I've been here about 10 times now. Sometimes it is excellent. Some things can be improved. Service is always very good and friendly. Food is inconsistent. Steaks are usually good, but not always. I would recommend going with the baked potato because the fries, while nice, thick ones, are almost always cold. Bread offered would be better if it was plain because whatever that spread is that is put on it before grilling, it just tastes like dirty grill, not butter. Ranch salad dressing is very watered down, no flavor except mayo or sour cream, pick something else. I would recommend the cole slaw instead. Burgers are good, very big. read more

A friend took me here to have lunch for my birthday I ordered a ribeye and onion rings. The steak was delicious and I had plenty for leftovers. I also liked the onion rings. Haven't been to Steer N' Stein in awhile. My family has been dining here since the early 1980's. We had our meal tonight and went to pay the cashier when I noticed the bill amount was higher than the paper bill we were given at the table. Turns out ..... wait for it....... they add a 3.5 % service charge to every bill now. When I asked why they did not display a notice regarding this service charge they showed me the menu. In small print at the very bottom of the menu it mentions this extra charge. Also when standing directly in front of the cash register at payment time there is a small sign stating the service charge. Turns out they will discount this extra charge if you pay in Cash. Who carries Cash anymore? Not Cool, not cool. I pay with my Debit Card everywhere' I go or use Apple Pay which they don't accept here. It's almost 2023 time to get with the Times. read more

Was pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed this place! Keep in mind they close at 8:30 which is a lot earlier than most places. We ordered the bean soup (7/10), zucchini sticks (8/10), garden salad, stockyard (6/10) with loaded baked potato (10/10), steak (6/10) and baby back ribs (9/10), and the berry tart with ice cream (9/10). We had such a great experience at this restaurant. Stephanie was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. Our food was out super fast, not one thing was wrong with our order, she had drink refills for us constantly without us having to ask. I've been dining at this place for ages and beside the expansion of their dining room, it has maintained a consistently great value. They have fairly-priced ribeye and sirloin with two sides and delicious bread...and don't forget about the 32oz beer! What I most love about this place is the family style steak establishment itself. They don't try to be fancy and charge exorbitant prices for a false fancy atmosphere with unsophisticated cooks (like Cask n Cleaver) and don't offer items on the menu they are unable to provide setting you up for disappointment (Sycamore Inn). Just a simple casual dining experience in a clean environment with great food, friendly servers, cooks who CONSISTENTLY understand the differences between rare, medium rare tastes, and reasonable pricing.
