    spicy pork bibimbap
    Steve C.

Not the best Korean food I've had since I live in SoCal where you could get a ton of amazing Korean food. However, Step was solid and the employees are nice. Sweet and Spicy Korean Fried Chicken - Flavor and taste was definitely there but I wish the chicken was more crunchy. Also the chicken was a bit lukewarm instead of piping hot. Spicy pork bibimbap - Solid bibimbap bowl. I think the sauce could have been a bit better with some more flavor and spice, but I liked all the veggies and the hot stone bowl which made the rice very crispy. Overall a solid korean meal if you're looking for a quick bite to eat.

First visit to Step Korean, it's been in the list but so much new food in Reno and such little time! The place was an absolute ghost town on a Thursday at 5, we were flying solo. That being said the service was great, staff is really friendly and the place is very clean. The decorations are really nice, super cute and cozy inside all the way down to the bathrooms. The drinks, when I ordered the Cucumber Lemon Chiller, I was told "this is like a martini, is that ok?" Of course! Well, I wish we would have said more like a dirty martini. Honestly this thing I absolutely hated, but I am not big on dirty martinis either. Heavy on the lemon and I'm guessing also some blended cucumber. But that's alright, my wife's Mango Sunset was quite amazing, wish I could swapped out. I'm sure the cosmopolitan is good as well. Just maybe skip this Cucumber Lemon. The food! Everything looked great on the plate, was flavorful, piping hot, and definitely unique. I already love Korean food, this not being my first Korean by any stretch of the imagination. I would start by saying everything is very sweet. All the chicken flavors were sweet, the japchae was quite sweet on its own, and the corn tots were heavy on the sweet side. Not everything had to be THAT sweet, especially the japchae. The big miss for both my wife and I came in with the corn tots. CANNED corn. I know it doesn't bother some, but boy did it really bother us to immediately smell then taste canned corn, even if it is cream of corn. That's a total miss, especially with how strong this specific on it. Even going frozen corn and creaming it up in the kitchen would make these 10x better, canned corn is not something I eat in my life, ever. Really canned veggies in general. This may pass somewhere with a different price structure, but at prices competing with Arario Midtown, canned corn is a miss. The final one was the chicken itself, the flavor options were tasty, but all 3 didn't really taste that much different from each other. The big one here was how stringy the chicken was, they could not be ripped in half to share, and they were not even easy to bite in half. This one doesn't necessarily point to any fault of the kitchen, but is most likely the vendor the chicken is coming from. That part is just a hunch, as tough stringy chicken usually points to very cheap chicken that was raised too quickly. But that part was a bummer either way.

We came here on Saturday night around 7:30pm and it wasn't busy at all, parking was easy and we were able to get a table right away. The staff were friendly, the place was quiet with a relaxed feel. However, I was disappointed with the drinks and food. I had a cucumber lemon drink, the waitress asked me if I liked strong cucumber flavor when I asked for it. She was not lying about the strong cucumber taste. I didn't hate it, but It didn't taste very fresh. The other drink we ordered was the mango sunset and it was soooo sweet! Might as well be dessert. We ordered fried wings for appetizers and all three flavors were extremely sugary. One of the flavors felt like it literally had sugar on it. But if that's your thing, you may enjoy them. If you're starving, stay away from the hot pot, it's scorching hot! I had to wait and blow on my food every bite I took. It comes with a side of miso soup, which was okay, maybe a tiny bit on the saltier end of the spectrum. The hot pot itself was very bland and the only ingredient that provided any flavor was the side of sauce. The other dish we ordered was the seafood soup that was actually not very spicy and the dominant flavor was gochujang.

Service was great! Super friendly and they offered some recommendations for my first time. It was really modern and clean in the restaurant. I ended up ordering Jjampbong, calamari and mixed wings. The Jjampbong had good flavor, but the noodles were... different. I'm used to the original jjambong recipe from growing up so a different spin on them was interesting. The noodles were thick and kind of overpowered the meal. Unfortunately, the calamari and wings were not crispy at all. They were a bit soggy by the time I got home (less than 5 minutes away). I would definitely like to come back and try a different dish to redeem our take out experience for sure. I'll post a follow up review when I go back! :)

This was our second visit to this place, and it was just as amazing as the first! We kicked things off with the calamari rings, which were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. They came with a generous serving of cabbage and a delicious dipping oil that we couldn't get enough of. On top of that, we got some complimentary pickled vegetables and kimchi, which were so good we asked for a second helping. For the main courses, we had the braised Korean-style chicken, and it was fantastic. The chicken was tender, coated in a savory gravy, and loaded with vegetables and tteokbokki. It also came with a side of rice that paired perfectly with the dish. The second dish we tried was the pork kimchi stew, which had just the right amount of spice and a nice tangy sourness. We even added extra hot sauce and hot oil to bring the heat to another level. This also came with a serving of rice. We also had refillable Diet Cokes. Our server, Kai, was super friendly and made the experience even better. If you're looking for great Korean food in town, I highly recommend this place! Good food, good ambiance and great service.

We dropped in for a quick early dinner to Step Korean Bistro and are very glad we did. The dining room is open with a modern oriental bistro motif. Very clean and airy. We were promptly seated by the hostess and greeted by our waitress for drinks. Having never had Korean food previously, to be honest (we went more by the pictures than the description, as well as a bit of extra questions than usual of our waitress. She was very engaging and so nice. We both selected the Beef Japchai ( spelling?) entree. As we awaited our entree the brought small aperitif serving of Kimchi, pickled daikon radish, pickle kale . It was really yummy and not over powering with the pickle flavor; nicely subtle. We finished the meal with the Lemon Cheesecake; exquisite! Definitely plan on going back to try some different entrees.

Wow this place is such a fun unexpected gem in Sparks! We came for lunch and were blown away by the flavor and beauty of the dishes. We ordered the sweet n spicy Korean fried chicken to start. It came with some beautifully plated sides of black beans, pickled beets, kimchi and macaroni salad. For entrees we got the spicy pork and the beef hot pot. Both were tasty but the spicy pork has our hearts! Ambiance was very chill with beautiful decor and friendly service. Can't wait to visit again!

The food to start off is amazing. The quality of the Korean fried chicken is top notch. Cooked well and breaded nicely and the honey cheese flavoring is borderline addictive. The service was wonderful and friendly. No issues with performance either. The interior ambiance is very classy and vibrant with many plant decorations. Although the beef bulgogis flavor is great though much left to be desired. It's very light in flavor and not very inspiring. The Korean braised beef though is quite nice but in a similar state as the bulgogi. Another thing is the pricing is quite high for the food received. This is a nice place to go to occasionally but I'm driven off by the prices

Kimchi Fried Rice and Soft Tofu Soup

Wow, I'm very impressed by the food at Step Korean Bistro! The flavor profile of every dish is unique and delicious. I'll be coming back as the menu is extensive. Unfortunately, our servers were not really attentive to my table and talked loudly; a bit distracting when eating. I hope to come back and this was a one time issue.

    Korean braised chicken (spicy)

Another great trip to Step Korean Bistro! Great place to go with family in town for the holidays. Everyone was super friendly, the service was perfect and the place looks even better than my last visit. I tried the calamari and the soju, but forgot to snap pictures, both were good and the calamari had a wonderful crunch. This time around I decided to try the Korean Braised Chicken (Spicy) with a rice cup. The chicken was tender and the flavor was excellent with just enough spice for it to sit with you for a moment. You can also opt to ask for some additional spicy sauce on the side as well if you prefer more spice. After our meal we were even played a little game where we attempt to speak a couple Korean words and we're rewarded with a sweet Korean snack. The one I selected was a wafer with chocolate inside and those were tasty as well. Thank you so much to everyone there! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed everything we ordered, it's great to see another local business thriving and sharing their culture.

    Beef Japchae with rice

Soju on the menu, excellent start. Settled for a root beer, driving and all. Didn't settle on dinner. Got everything we could have wanted. First the sweet pickled cucumber, tangy greens and kimchi as a free pre-meal tasting. Spring rolls and edamame as apps. Spring rolls were not the best I've ever had but with the dipping sauce they improved. A little mushy inside. She enjoyed the edamame to the last bite. Her tofu soup was wonderful. Fragrant, red tinged broth was very tasty. The beef japchae was a new taste for me and I loved it. Glass noodles, tender beef in a semi sweet sauce topped with thinly shredded purple cabbage with a large bowl of rice on the side. This is a dish I will revisit on our next trip to STEP. Our server knew about each dish and helped us make the best choices. She checked back just often enough. At the end of the meal she brought a card with Hello and Thank You in Korean spelled out. We spoke the Korean version and were rewarded with a Korean treat from the large basket. What a fun way to celebrate finding such a great new place.

    Tteokbokki
    Trina P.

I love this place so much. We ordered the Tteokbokki and Seafood Tofu Soup. The tteokbokki was the right amount of chewiness and bounce. The seafood tofu soup was delicious and had a great kick! My friend (first timer at Step) agreed they preferred this place over the other Korean restaurants in town! The service is always attentive and kind. Five stars is not enough for this place.

When visiting Reno, I highly encourage anyone that is looking for a delightful and relaxing lunch…read morespot to definitely check out "Süp". Located directly on S. Virginia St and adjacent to St. Lawrence Ave in the heart of the Midtown neighborhood of Reno, Süp has served up delicious and healthy sandwiches, salads, and soups dating back to 2007. This place has been on my radar for quite some time and I finally got to experience what it was all about. Since this is in a fairly busy commercial part of town, it can be a bit tricky to find parking. However, we were able to park only a block away and this was during the afternoon on Thursday 7/2/2026 at around 12:15pm. After making the short way to the business, I absolutely loved the exterior aesthetics and layout were represented. The business itself mimics a house complete with a large front patio area that actually snakes around to the side of the house for the more comfortable Reno days. The wooden tables with plastic chairs and covered tents to shield off the sun were a very nice touch. The inside also offers very generous indoor seating complete with ample space for a single person, a couple, or a family. Their menu are digitally presented on LED TVs complete with some of their specials that are handwritten on a chalkboard. My lady and I both decided to order sandwiches to get our fuel and energy for the day. I went with their "Char-Grilled Steak Baguette"; this came complete with their bistro steak drizzled with chimichurri sauce and topped with caramelized onions, New York white cheddar & sharp cheddar cheese and served on a cheddar poppy seed baguette. My lady went with their "Reno Deli"; this offered salami, pepperoncini & pesto layered with spinach, tomatoes, provolone cheese, and aioli on toasted sourdough bread. Both of our sandwiches came with a side house salad. Once given our number (we got Tahoe St), we decided to sit outside and take full advantage of the weather (as it was a perfect 78°F). What I particularly like is that the ambiance is the perfect vibe for daydreaming, people watching, and enjoying the simplicity that a city like Reno offers. Both our sandwiches arrived in roughly 10 minutes and were presented on white porcelain plates. My sandwich was made to perfection as the cheddar baguette securely held the fillings quite nicely. There was a lot of seasoned steak as the other sauces were not too overpowering. And considering the size of this, it got me quite full as I wasn't hungry until much later in the day. I will say that if you're looking for a reputable small business that offers healthy fresh ingredients, excellent customer service, amazing ambiance in a very desirable area of Reno, I highly recommend giving "Süp" a try. Their selection of salads, sandwiches, bowls, and soups are all wonderful choices as they focus on farm-fresh ingredients. And if time allows, I highly encourage everyone to eat here as I felt right at home during my 45-minute stay. Keep in mind that they are closed on Sunday but are open Monday through Saturday from 11am-9pm. With that said and done, I am giving Süp a perfect five-star review.

I visited Chopstix in Sparks on a whim when my wife was getting her nails done nextdoor, thinking…read moreI'd just shnack a little while I waited. Instead, I ended up coming back the same day because my first experience was that good. Let's start with the appetizer sampler I got first go round. The egg roll was crispy, cabbagey, savory, and satisfying. The shrimp was crispy, fresh-tasting, and absolutely delicious with the sweet and sour sauce. The chicken wings were crispy, crunchy, juicy, and left me wanting ten more. The sesame ball was sweet, creamy, and wonderfully nutty. The crab cheese puffs were packed with filling, crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle, with a slight tang. The restaurant itself was spotless and smelled nice. The staff were friendly, smiling, and genuinely made me want to come back. The appetizers came with sweet and sour sauce, hot mustard, soy sauce, and a generous stack of napkins. It's a little thing, but I appreciated it. After I ran into the nail place to let my wife try what I thought was amazing, we decided it was gonna be dinner. Later, I came back and ordered two combo plates and a chicken fried rice. My combo came with chow mein, orange peel chicken, and General Chicken. My wife's came with fried rice and Kung Pao Chicken. My mom ordered the chicken fried rice. My plate left me conflicted. The flavors were fantastic. The orange peel chicken actually had large pieces of orange peel in it, giving it brightness, sweetness, and acidity. The General Chicken had a nice spice level, and I could actually taste ingredients like ginger instead of just generic sweetness. The chow mein was flavorful enough that it didn't need soy sauce at all. The problem wasn't flavor. It was texture. The chow mein, orange peel chicken, and General Chicken were all much softer than I prefer. Not quite mushy, but getting close. Everything kind of compressed when I bit into it. So I'm torn. Amazing flavor, but textures that just weren't my favorite. My wife's Kung Pao Chicken, on the other hand, was excellent. The spice level was perfect, the vegetables were uniformly cut and perfectly cooked, and there were peanuts throughout that added a nice crunch. Nothing was undercooked, oversized, or awkward to eat. Whoever is doing the knife work and prep in this kitchen deserves some credit because it shows. The fried rice on that plate was okay. Not bad at all, just very simple. It needed a little more flavor and a little more going on. My mom's chicken fried rice was much better. It had more seasoning, more ingredients, shredded chicken, vegetables, and a much more satisfying overall texture. So what's the verdict? The appetizers were outstanding, especially the shrimp and crab cheese puffs. The Kung Pao Chicken was excellent. The chicken fried rice was very good. Even the dishes I criticized had genuinely amazing flavor. Seriously, orange chicken that actually tastes like orange instead of pure sugar? That's rare. General Chicken where I can pick out individual flavors instead of one-note sweetness? Also rare. My issue was texture, not taste. If you like softer textures, you may love the chow mein, orange peel chicken, and General Chicken. If you're like me and prefer more bite, chew, or crispness, those dishes may not be your favorites. Will I be back? Absolutely. I should also mention for two combo plates, a order of shrimp, and order of crab cheese puffs, I spent like $55 bucks. Not bad at all. The flavors were too good not to come back and explore the rest of the menu. Honestly, if the orange peel chicken and General Chicken had a crispier texture, they'd be among the best versions I've had. As it is? 4 out of 5.

Traditional Vietnamese or Chinese cuisine IMO, is difficult to find here compared to the Bay Area. But that's not the fault of Reno, it's just the number of asian restaurants are so much fewer here and all the produce is literally imported. My goto when checking out a chinese restaurant is their chow fun noodles. Why? The noodles are perishable and if frozen the texture becomes a bit mushy, not firm. Garlic, lots of minced garlic. Not complaining, as this is unusual for chow fun noodles to get amost a fourth of a garlic bulb worth. I ordered the mixed protein version with chicken, pork, and beef. There was a slight sweetness to the dish, which I am atributing it to sugar. Which again is unusual but a welcome addition like the garlic. My last visit was when some relatives visted from the Bay Area and we had lunch. I didn't want to take a chance on the food that they may not be used to, so we choose SK Noodle. Eveyone had their vietnamese Pho and grilled dishes and so far SK did dissapoint any of the Northern CA food snobs! I will be back.

The food was good but way too expensive! The price on line is not accurate. I was charged 2x more…read more Service is ok but I ordered take-out so not much interaction. The ambiance is great. Newly renovated.

Soup and a sandwich is always a good choice on a winter's day for lunch. Today's soup was a sweet potati lentil. Given it's still summer, I opted for their chipotle bbq pulled pork grilled cheese on Ciabatta bread. While I was not dazzled by its visual appearance, it definitely hit the spot. I initially balked over the half sandwich size, but after eating it, I concluded a full size sandwich with that much meat and cheese would've involved antacids two hours later. The good...The ladies running the truck were quite friendly. The proportion size was perfect for lunch. I didn't feel like I over ate. The price point was reasonable and the menu had some options for the health conscious. The bad...I really would've liked to see some kind of green side (salad, slaw, etc...) to accompany my sandwich. I would even be willing to pay a little more just to balance out the meal. They did have a couple options which would fit this bill but their price point advertised them more as a meal itself rather than a side dish. If these ladies are back during a colder week, I definitely want to try out their soups. The menu has some variety so I'm sure I'll be eating with them again regardless of the time of year.

Pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich. Not the most visually appealing but my taste buds had no objection.
