I was shocked the first time I thought we were going to have a $2,000 bill based on a dealer's comment, and Steve said, "No, it's all fine. You just need to replace two hoses." In many small decisions and on the occasional big decisions, he has saved us many thousands of dollars. In those cases where a necessary fix is expensive, we know it's unavoidable and that the car will keep going if we do it. I originally found Steve due to his good yelp reviews and they were not a let down. I bought my first car at the ripe age of 22 from a used lot under warranty. Only knowing that if you take care of it, it will take care of you. So grateful for Steve and his wife for all the help now being close to 6 years of me going. He is a trustworthy honest man, that I joke and call Dad because he treats me like a daughter with honesty and respect. I tend to bring in my Honda a lot, getting it towed there randomly, some could call me a hypercardriac and anyone could take advantage of the situation. Well, that's exactly what I did today when I called Steve. with over 100 five star reviews, I figured I couldn't go wrong. I figured right. He answered on the 2nd ring, and said I could bring the car in right away for him to evaluate the battery (I was pretty sure it had died, but wanted an expert opinion). Before I could get to the bookstore a block away, Steve was on the phone with the diagnosis - and happened to have a battery that would fit my hybrid SUV in his shop! By the time I paid for the book I bought at Copperfield's (yeah, that's another great place), Steve had my new battery installed and ready to go - the whole process from beginning to finish was maybe 30 minutes. Believe me, he got my attention. Did I pay a few bucks more for my battery than if I had bought it at an auto parts store? WHO CARES? A. It was done right then and there. B. Three year unconditional warranty. C. Buy Local. D. Helluva nice guy. 5. No grease stains on my sleeve from tightening the cables on the battery terminal with my fingers (I don't advise this by the way). After my recent appointment at Steve's Auto Care I can confidently recommend this business to everyone. The owner, Steve, is professional, knowledgeable and most importantly honest and polite. He is an intelligent mechanic, who is able to determine the problem quickly and fix the issue promptly. Steve's prices are honest and he is efficient with his work. My minivan needed a new powering steering pump. Steve replaced the pump with a brand new, reasonably priced pump. Unfortunately the new pump had unknowingly a defect and after one month it stopped working. Immediately after telling Steve about the problem he had me bring the minivan to him and in less than 24hrs he had a factory Honda pump ready and replaced the faulty one with a new one. Steve only works on Japanese cars, but frankly if you don't have a Japanese car you should buy one just to use his service. He's that good. We've had Hondas and Toyotas in the past, spent a while driving American and German cars so Steve was on hiatus with us for a few years, but now we have a Subaru and recently I brought it to him after having recall work done at the dealer. In the course of performing the recall repair the dealer tried to sell us a whole bunch of other things, and flat-out told me that the rear brake pads were so thin that it was dangerous to drive with them, and the brake fluid was " dirty " and also needed to be replaced. They told me that work would cost over $500. I told them no, brought the car to Steve, and he promptly told me the brake pads were fine and so was the brake fluid. He told me that work might be necessary at the next oil change in about 5,000 mi. He also said that when the work was done it would cost a lot less with him than the dealer was asking. I know it sounds trite, but if I could give 6 Stars I would! I have a couple of older cars and have taken them to Steve's over the past few months. Every time he does great work. He saved me $250 on brake work that the dealership wanted to do! Not only that, he was able to get me in right away to replace a worn out wheel bearing that, had I kept driving, probably would have wrecked the front end. Obviously he can't get everyone in last minute, but whenever I call for work he is gray about finding a time that works for you and always gets back to you with updates and information when he says he will. Finally a good Mechanic! I found Steve's autoshop on yelp and I am extremely happy that I did. I took my '99 Subaru in to him thinking I was going to pay atleast 500 for tune up and walked away with the exact quote that he handed me, $100. He even fixed my rear view wiper for free when an alternative mechanic said it would be atleast 900 to fix.
