BLEU CHEESE GARLIC BUTTER BUN KNOTS LOAF. In the video is a lot of dishes but the steak was by far my favorite which was a 12 oz New York Strip Medium Rare. Today turned out to be a day of celebration and new beginnings - we gave a heartfelt sendoff to our amazing coworker, Destinee. We also found out that my other incredible coworker Kathleen received a well-deserved promotion, balancing out the day beautifully. We savored our late lunch at STK, where I enjoyed a delicious fish burger, Kathleen indulged in tasty vegetarian sides, and Destinee treated herself to a mouthwatering steak lunch. Overall, we had a fantastic evening at STK. First, our server was fantastic. I believe her name was Hannah. She was attentive and provided excellent recommendations. She even worked to meet our special request for sweet champagne. Our meal started with the bread. It was good and buttery. We then enjoyed the Caesar Salad and Jumbo Crab Cake for appetizers. Both were delicious ... I think a whole crab was used in the crab cake. We split the tomahawk and lobster tail. The tomahawk was seasoned and cooked delightfully. Of course, my love taste like melted butter. The mashed potatoes have a crusted top and it provided a nice texture. All good stuff. And the tomahawk is fun. What a wonderful experience being at STK - my wife & I have been waiting to try this restaurant and so happy we did! On our 1 year Wedding Anniversary too. We really wanted to try their $69 deal during the week but we went on the weekend. Their Braised Short Rib is probably one of the best in the city... we always get that if we see it on the menu. I also got the Steak & Frites - DELICIOUS. Just down right delicious. I also also got a $9 sauce... I hope I never been so rich where prices don't affect me because this was one place where we questioned if it was the most expensive restaurant we've been to. We had a toddler with us and knew he couldn't sit through a 2 plus hour dinner service. The atmosphere was classy club with good background music. Very welcoming. Our waitress Robyn was fantastic. Excellent, attentive, and very patient service. The drinks were very pricey. The wine list was okay, I should mention my husband is a wine oenophile. The food was delicious. The portions were generous. We loved the complementary sour dough bread, was a wonderful delicious surprise! The 1/2 lettuce salad was crisp and delicious. My family loved the Caesar. The oysters were west coast (large and flavorable). Tuna tartare-yes please! My steak was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. The truffle butter melted by a waiter table side was a beautiful display and delicious. Good sides. The chocolate cake and cheesecake dessert was excellent. Why not 5 stars? The way they billed the meal. Rather then charging the pre-theater prices listed on the menu, the listed all items individually. The waitress explained it would all add up, but it felt wrong and left a sour taste in my mouth. When you are dining with a group you don't want to pull out your phone and calculate the bill in front of everyone. I fretted about it all evening until I got home. This place was just not my vibe. We came into Chicago a night early and so we expected to sit at the bar as we didn't have a reservation. It was near our hotel and seemed popular as we walked by so we stopped in. As expected they weren't able to accommodate at 9:30 pm on a Friday, but we sort of told them right away bar was fine. We were told the bar was first come first serve and so we headed into the dim, purple-lit room. We easily found seats and were handed a menu. I was pretty turned off by the smell coming from behind the bar, it smelled of sewage. I would have left but my husband really wanted a specific thing off the menu after looking through it. We ordered an off the menu cocktail and an NA mojito and then perused the menu more. It may have been a bad night for our bartender because she then disappeared. Nearly fifteen minutes later she came back to ask what drink we had ordered. By the time we got our drinks it was another five minutes, and a different bartender dropped those off and walked away. So then we were trying to figure out how to order food. We kept looking around for our bartender and made eye contact with the manager hovering by the end of the bar multiple times but he did not pick up that we were looking for someone -anyone- to order food from. Eventually the original bartender came back and took a food order. The food came out relatively quickly but in the meantime a girl sat next to me and ordered a steak with truffle butter. Her food arrived first and they came out and melted the butter with a torch table side. I'm sure it looked fantastic for a social media post (believe me her phone was out!) but the smell was horrible. Truffle isn't the worst smell but it overpowered every other smell in the place. At least it covered up the sewer smell. They must use that fake truffle oil that overpowers everything it comes in contact with because it was noxious. They also did a round of shots for everyone as the song "shots" by LMFAO played, carried to each person on a tray full of sparklers. That was a fun touch. The hostesses started getting annoying because people must often just sit at the bar before they're seated, we were tapped on the shoulder no less than five times to ask the name for our reservation. The food was warm, not hot, on arrival to the table. Unfortunately I did not have an appetite because every bite of food just tasted like truffle. The husband enjoyed his food but was displeased with the temperature. He did enjoy one more drink while I thanked the gods that the woman next to me finished her steak. Our server then proceeded to totally fumble through getting our check. Clearly they really don't often sell NA drinks because the poor girl could not for the life of her figure out how to charge a mocktail. Of course, hovering manager was now nowhere to be found. Unfortunately I ended up being faced towards the kitchen but at that point I realize that lol, beggars can't be toooo choosy. Anywho most of my food was NASTY. STK Steakhouse was our 3rd stop for Chicago Restaurant Week 2025 and while the atmosphere was excellent, the rest was below expectations. We ordered the Smoked Pork Belly Benedict and The American for mains from the Restaurant Week menu. For desert there was only the Bog O' Donuts. We also ordered the Truffle Fries and Wagyu Burger BKFT from the main menu While the food wasn't bad, the bacon was cut THICK, it came out at room temperature because of how long it took. We weren't the only to have this opinion, one look around the dining area and you could feel the frustration with the timeliness of the kitchen. I will say the staff were doing their best to assuage customers, but it didn't amount to much. Asking for a check or a to go box somehow took like 10 minutes as well. The table next to us complained and were given another orders and drinks with no bill. The off menu items were really good, the Wagyu Burger BKFT is an amazing deal for $10. I would have been happy with just that. The Bag O' Donuts are also surprisingly good, the Dulce de Leche sauce was excellent. It's a beautiful place. A bit over priced. Street parking if you are lucky to find a spot is $4.50 per hour on the Park Chicago app. The music is too loud for me like it's a club for dancing. The music also feels like dancing music. It's upbeat for sure. The only thing is sometimes at night after a long day you just want to enjoy sitting and eating and drinking and talk to people you love or like. You want to be able to hear them easily. The food choices are a nice mix of seafood and steak and even a pasta dish. The cocktails are good $23... the Dragons Flare (vodka, prickly pear, Cointreau strawberry lemonade) was good and fruity and full of flavor and sweetness. You have happy hour deals and after 10pm deals. Really sweet deals! I would say the value is during happy hours. You will def get your money's worth w $9 cocktails and $3, $6, $9 food dishes. I don't like to do bad reviews, but I've been to STK 3 times and can without a doubt say the mention of it hence forth will fill me with irrational disgust and disturb me to no end. My first visit to STK was in 2020 during the pandemic in December. I was there for a birthday dinner so I did not choose it, but if anyone remembers, I'm pretty sure this was the prime time of STK being an on the radar place. Ironic, I know. We had mini burgers and some other stuff I don't remember but the defining item for me that wiped it off my list was the disgusting truffle fries. While my opinion is completely subjective because I dislike Truffle flavored anything, STK's truffle is particularly nasty, as I've had the pleasure of tasting slightly less disgusting truffle in Paris. Hang in there because the truffle will come back. I left STK that night and did not revisit for maybe another year or so. Again, I did not pick the restaurant, I actually thought we were going to RPM until a last minute change of plans. That night I had forgettable crab cake and on we go to yesterday; the date of disaster. Now again, I did not pick this place. In fact I tried everything not to go but had no choice because a friend had booked the reservation and being the not completely reformed people pleaser that I am, I went. The reception was nice, they had us seated once our party arrived, and on a Thursday around Happy Hour there was a decent amount of people but the restaurant was nowhere near full. Our server was nice, and because I know better, I'm not accusing or excusing her for anything that happened yesterday. We had the Happy Hour menu so she ID'd us, but I ordered a Coke so that's really irrelevant. The drinks came. I noticed nothing amiss. After about 2-3 sips while we were waiting on our food, something caught my attention. At first I thought I was hallucinating. I moved my class over to see if there was something behind it in the reflection of the glass. The "hallucination" moved with it. So I lifted my glass up only to discover, to my absolute horror, there was a receipt stuck down in my glass. I immediately thought it was a personal attack. I asked my table if I had been rude, and somebody I had barely interacted with until that day, said I hadn't been. Which left 2 alternatives. 1. A receipt somehow ended up in my cup on accident. 2. I was given a used glass that came from an old table where someone had stuffed a receipt in it. (I shudder to accept this option but the coke was noticeably watered down) It took a while for the server to return and when someone at my table notified her, she seemed perplexed herself. I give people the benefit of the doubt so I won't say she knew about it, (and she wasn't even the person who delivered the drink). She told me that she would bring me another Coke with no charge. Which I thought meant the Coke would be struck from the bill, but it was still on there, something I'm trying not to even think about because I'm protecting my peace by suppressing my wrath. It is typically customary for mistakes like that to have a free of charge remedy, but whatever STK. My last bone to pick before I never speak of this restaurant again is that you all do not need to cover everything in that rank truffle oil. My tater tot, truffle oil, my wagyu burger truffle oil. I spent the entire night into the morning belching truffle oil that tastes like viral green phlegm out the back of your throat when you're sick and have drainage. It's so unnecessary and I don't even recall the menu saying they had truffle oil on them so I was confused why everything tasted like truffle. Sounds like you're either truffle trigger happy or looking for a potential legal problem. Needless to say NOBODY should be running to STK. read more

My husband and I have dined here before and had a great experience with excellent service. That's why we decided to return for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, despite having made our reservation over a month in advance, we waited over an hour to be seated. It was very frustrating, especially since it appeared that the hosts were not managing the seating process efficiently. I was extremely upset and asked to speak with a manager. That's when Anthony stepped in and completely turned the experience around. He was professional, welcoming, and attentive. The vegetarian pasta was $63 and all sides were $21. I ordered a mocktail and it was okay. My brussel sprouts were really good but not $21 good. The icing on the cake was the service dog that came in after us. They served the dog water in a drinking cup. At this point, we were all ready to go. On top of that, the dog was constantly in the middle of the walkway shaking his tail while we were trying to eat. I visited STK Chicago for Happy Hour and once again, they did not disappoint! I ordered the Lobster Tails, Shrimp, Wagyu Burger with Fries, and ended it on a sweet note with the Bag O' Donuts and the Strawberry Cobbler. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The shrimp--absolutely to die for--were perfectly cooked and seasoned, so big shoutout to Chef Jessica for working her magic in the kitchen! Patrick, our server, was amazing--attentive, friendly, and impressively knowledgeable about every ingredient on the menu. His service made the experience even better. And what truly stood out was Hector, my server from a previous visit, recognizing and acknowledging me. OMG! I've been meaning to add this review since June 20th. I hosted a small dinner party for my sons "Golden" 20 birthday. The restaurant was very upscale yet casual. The food honestly was just "alright." The menu wasn't that impressive, in my opinion. My only two complaints were the water girl/guy and hostess. The customer service was a bit too extreme. He/she continued to interrupt our dinner conversation and even our toast, asking if we wanted water to be refilled. Most of the time, the glasses were still half full. It became irritating and harassing! It felt equivalent to walking in a store, and the sales associate constantly following you around asking if you need help. On the contrary, I don't recall the actual waiter hardly ever checking in. The hostess practically refused to seat us, though I said it was ok. She recited the policy that we couldn't be sat until our entire party had arrived. I explained that the other guests were already an hour past the meeting time. Again, she enforced the policy asking what if they arrive. I told her as the host, we would be moving forward without them, and they just wouldn't be seated. Finally, she got someone to seat us. Our server Asia was kind but offered no explanation. For these prices I should not be bullied into ordering. Second, another server kept bringing to our table other people's food. It happened 4 times. Third, I ordered a drink and when I finished I did not get asked if I wanted another one. Even our water was not refilled. As for the food, I ordered steak frites and the steak came out well done and tasted like rubber. I told my server it was awful and she did not apologize or even get a manager. I will not go back.
