Stone Tower is a beautiful venue with great wine and even better staff. On a brisk Saturday spring afternoon, my friends and I stopped in. Upon arriving we went to the tower view tasting room. The tower view room is adults only. It's a beautiful building with both indoor and outdoor space. Even though we were indoor, the natural light and views are stunning. Immediately we interacted with lots of staff who were welcoming and helpful. The first room upstairs was crowded but we easily stepped in for a tasting at the bar downstairs. $15 got us 6 wines. Our server was great- he gave us details on wine, was good about not butting in during conversations, gave recommendations and entertained our questions. After the tasting, we purchased a bottle of Malbec to enjoy onsite. When trying to look for a place to set up and enjoy our wine, a staff member let us know they had live music and lots of table space downstairs in the ballroom. We went, so thankful for this recommendation, we got a whole table to ourselves, good music and comfortable environment. We brought some assorted cheese, crackers and fruit to enjoy with our wine. Please note: effect April 15 2018, no outside food will be allowed at tower view tasting room. They do have onsite food and actually have pairing notes so that could be cool. Stopped by on a Sunday evening around 4 and was able to enjoy the winery until they closed. We didn't have reservations but luckily we were able to snag a table for two with a beautiful view. Due to COVID they have the self wine tasting kits. Each tasting was enough for two. The food was a little too salty but other than that we really enjoyed ourselves and felt comfortable with the safety procedures put in place. A three star and because the staff were just terrible.... We did a tasting and bought wines..... Mary pours wines.... Tells us the name (printed in front of us on a piece of paper) and tells us how it's aged (also on the same piece of paper) and then walks away.... What's the point of a tasting if the staff think they're so amazing they don't owe customers some wine education about the wine or tasting notes or something. Not the first time this has happened at stone tower..... hence unless under duress I'll keep my business at Breaux or any number of others in the area where you're treated as a guest and not as just someone to make money from. read more

After coming here a handful of times in the past year and even considered having my wedding here. While the scenic views are breathtaking, sadly I'm not impressed by the wines (white, red, or rose). They are a bit too acidic and dry. Although I'm not a fan of the wine, I do enjoy the ambiance (hence 4 stars) with plenty of seating and indoor/outdoor space at the barn and tasting room. You can usually find a seat pretty quickly if you have a small group. The wood fired pizza is good, but a bit too overcooked (the bottom was black). I got Margarita and 1/2 with mushrooms and onions. I would get it again and request that it be less crispy on the bottom. There's usually a food truck here on the weekends. They don't allow outside food anymore and there's a shop that sells cheese and crackers. I also bought a wine infused Conche chocolates made with wine from Stone Tower. Although the dazzling chocolates look like masterpieces and too precious to eat, I couldn't taste the wine in them and they didn't have a strong flavor profile. I can't remember what they tasted like. One thing to note is that every time I've come here, I've always received great service from the wine pourers. The staff members are really friendly and patient, they don't try to rush you. They are passionate about the winery's products. I hear all great things about Stone Tower Winery but had never been until now. It's a super popular one in northern Va so I figured it would be crowded. We decided to visit some wineries on NYE and it was lovely! We started with a tasting and found our favorite to be the bubbly rose'. For $20 you get a good amount of options to taste from white to reds! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We ended getting a bottle to sit and relax. I cannot recommend this winery enough! We have had a few corporate events here and have thoroughly LOVED our experience each time. First off, the event staff is amazing!! Lauren and Sam are the best and extremely accommodating, organized, and a dream to work with! The food and wine are beyond amazing and the grounds are the most beautiful I've seen! A great winery with provisions for people of all ages and groups of all sizes to enjoy. They have two buildings. One for families and pets while the other one is for 21+ year olds. You can do a tasting or buy wine by the glass or bottle. The pizza is AMAZING!!! Just get there early so you can easily fine a place to sit and the pizza line won't be too long. What an awesome east coast winery right in NoVa! To kick off my birthday weekend, a friend and I tried stonetower for the first time. Literally the best choice!! Reservations are required to have the best view and food....The view, the food, and the service were really wonderful. We had the pizza, truffle fries, and salad. All of it was great! Now the wine had me a little underwhelmed. They allow tastings for all of their wines, so I tried it all. The estate pinot noir was really nice. However, cabernet is my favorite wine and I wasn't impressed. I will definitely return because it was a really great experience. This was a definite favorite of all the vineyards we visited in Loudoun County. First off, it's huge! Large front patio with tons of seating both outside and under a covered patio. The inside is also pretty large, and has an ornate fireplace, indoor bar, and a tv and comfortable leather chairs. We arrived on an unusually hot September Sunday and sat outside on the back deck in comfortable couches and stared out onto the stunning views below us. What a perfect place for a wedding. I also noticed they have two tasting rooms here, so there two separate buildings across from each other. It's quite massive. Coming from NYC, I really enjoyed the southern charm it had. Stone tower made my first experience at a winery the best ever! since I was new to the winery scene , I called ahead of time to ask if we were allowed to bring food for my friends birthday party. The lady on the phone was more than helpful and very friendly. she gave me a good feeling about this place even before I got there. Tip: you can bring food and eat it in the outdoor area, we brought cheese and crackers to enjoy after the tasting. The set up of this winery is amazing with all the buildings overlooking the breathtaking scenery. In the upstairs bar we enjoyed the wine tasting which included different wines that were sold by the estate. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly making this a highlight of our experience here. I got to say the highlight of my experience here was the atmosphere as we were able to sit in the lower area overlooking the vineyard and enjoying the food that we brought. Although it was a sunny day, we were able to find seating under the numerous umbrellas. Right before we left we noticed that there was a wedding happening and it honestly made me want to have my future wedding at this place because it is so beautiful. Bad customer service - only cares about profit than providing good experience for customers. So we quit our membership! When we arrived around 2pm, the place was packed so I scouted for a spot. After scoping the main level and found no empty seats, I proceeded upstairs and got lucky when a group of 5 30-something was just wrapping up and one of them told me I could have their table which was perfect with 4 seats, corner table near the sliding glads door leading to the balcony. It was too hot for outdoor so it was really good timing. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay on the bucket with ice, midnight blue and manchego cheeses, prosciutto & veggies! Our friend, likewise ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and they also brought other types of cheeses and grapes! Stone Tower is always a nice place to spend an afternoon with friends and good wines! I also recommend the Viognier because Northern VA has really good Viognier, which is part of the Traminer varietal, always crisp and refreshing! All 3 whites are light to medium body, each at $28 reasonably priced, and just perfect for 90 degree weather. In the fall, reds will be better choice, like the Noble at $38 or Merlot for $42 or the Estate wine at $65. Or a Malbec for $36. Yes, pricier than most but well worth to share with friends. My older draft was not posted, below: July 4 -This place is probably one of the nicest winery and vineyards and largest, about 30 miles from DC. Six years ago when it first opened it had only the barn style building, which is now where the dog lovers and folks with children coming along get together. It had lots of open area and seating. Likewise, the new building for adults only is far better and really nice appointed with modern furnishings and beautiful ambience, with plentiful of seatings, both communal and some corners and sections more intimate and simply comfortable and relaxing. The wine cellar in the basement was large and serves as banquets for weddings as the nice upstairs and large patios with multiple levels. The wine varietals are also excellent especially the 2016 Viognier, very good on the nose and probably the best Viognier in NOVA wine region. Because it was 92 degrees today we selected only whites as well as a very refreshing blanc de blanc, which was very good! This place also had a really nice crowd when we visited today and two very friendly couples joined us, so it was a good spot for meeting new friends with similar interests. I really had a great time, not only because of the beautiful but also the wines were excellent, and finally, the new friends we've met were a bonus! We have been to Stone Tower multiple times, beginning with when they first opened many years ago. It used to be one of my favorite wineries, but it has progressively become more and more commercialized and the customer service is disappointing. I feel as though what was once a very enjoyable experience has become really frustrating and snobby. Today was a prime example. Our kids and their significant others are in town and our family makes up a group of 7 people. I called the winery and they said it would be fine for our group to come out, so they made a reservation for us. We arrived for our reservation and they seated us outdoors on the patio. We had been seated for about 10 minutes and were deciding what to order and they came over and said 'Excuse me, but we do not accommodate parties over 6, so you can't sit on our patio. I can place you at one of our sofas below if you would like.' I explained that I had made a reservation - specifically for 7 people - but they were not budging. They did not once apologize for the fact that we drove 40 minutes out to the winery for our reservation just to be told they would not accommodate us. Because we had our kids visiting from out of state and we wanted everyone to have a good time, I agreed to let her relocate us. The hostess then took us down to the lower patio and basically pointed at a seating arrangement and said 'this should be convenient for you.' We went over to the seating, which was off by itself, and before we could even comment, the hostess was gone. The sofa was covered with bird droppings, grass and dirt - and we only had enough seating for 5 people. We were really frustrated and upset - especially since we had talked Stone Tower up to our kids who were visiting from NY and CO and had been told our party could be accommodated. We all decided to leave as none of us felt particularly welcome, and we were not at all pleased with the service we had experienced in our very short visit. We went down the road to another vineyard which was more than happy to welcome us, allowed us to do a full tasting and the staff were polite and cordial. The wine was great, too. Once huge fans of Stone Tower I don't believe we will be going back any time soon. There's more to a good winery than just a pretty view. read more

I've had Stone Tower Winery bookmarked for over a year but somehow never had the chance to actually give it try, so this past Sunday - even though it was a rainy day - my friends and I figured why not? The winery has 2 buildings: one for families and pets, and another one for 21+ customers. Both buildings looks beautiful from the outside and once we were inside the 21+ building, I was impressed as well. The rustic decor and tall ceilings work perfectly with the gorgeous views from the winery's patios. I believe the winery is owned by the same people as Belfort Furniture and you can tell! My friends and I started with a tasting priced at $20 per person. The tasting was given by Susie - very friendly - and it included one sparkling, Rosé, 2 whites (I believe) and 3 reds. We opted out for a glass of red each and 2 pizzas which smelled and tasted pretty good (maybe not good enough for the $16 price tag, but still tasty). I will say that they're a bit on the more expensive side compared to other wineries I've been to in the area, but I did have an enjoyable experience. read more

Stone Tower has gotten too elitist. Years ago you could sit anywhere, either at the Harvest Barn or the main tasting room building. Now the main tasting room is reserved for wine club members. And they have a variety of food options.The food at the harvest barn is overpriced and limited. If you have food allergies, bring your own selection. The tasting is $20 for 4 wines. Compared to other wineries in the area, that's ridiculous. Overpriced for above average wine. They really push for you to join their members club in order to join all the perks. The difference between member and non member is very noticeable. 4 stars for the view. 2 stars for everything else. Take some pics but go somewhere else for better wine. read more

A lovely group-friendly option for a wine tasting afternoon, just an hour from DC. We visited Stone Tower Winery for a bachelorette party. Groups smaller than nine people don't require a reservation. The Tower View Tasting Room is 21+ only and has a Marketplace for snacks and wood-fired pizza on the weekends. We opted for the more casual Harvest Barn, a renovated open air barn with bar and seated areas, plus a spacious patio and grassy field for picnics. There are few trees and it's only partially shaded on the patio; it's a good idea to bring sunblock. Harvest Barn is kid and dog friendly so it can get crowded quickly on weekends. The small gravel parking lot probably fits a few dozen cars. A good portion of the patio is reserved for wine club members. On the weekend we visited it was packed but no one was in the members only patio; it would be nice if you could open those spots up for a fee, just to make better use of space. We enjoyed our tasting of seven wines, then bought a bottle to have with our lunch. Stone Tower provided us an ice bucket and glasses for the bottle. Most of the wines are decent; the estate wines are excellent. You can bring your own food but there is also a food truck on site. A perfect day trip, definitely coming back! read more

This is a gorgeous winery with some nice wines! Only thing I didn't love was that only a few people were wearing masks inside, however, all servers did. I also wish they offered tastings outside because of COVID and our son isn't vaccinated. The good thing is that they had all doors open so it almost felt as if you were partially outside. We did a tasting and chose a glass of their cabernet. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We went on a Saturday around 4, without reservations and while it was quite crowded, we only had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a tasting and there were a few open tables. They give you a ticket that has an end time as you can only stay 2 hrs max. The line for the bathroom was insanely long, they should add more bathrooms. I'd definitely visit again! read more

In my humble opinion this is one of the best all-around wineries in Northern Virginia. They have good wine (I particularly enjoy the reds). They also have great food offerings (fresh wood fired pizza to order and a great selection of charcuterie, cheeses, accompanying sides (olives, pickles, fig jam) fresh bread. There's ample seating both indoors and out for any size group (tour buses take advantage of this so it's best to come either early or late on the weekends). The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, although less so when it's super crowded (again, come early or late for the best service). And the views are simply spectacular. I believe on a clear day you can actually see all the way to the Blue Ridge. There are two tasting rooms with separate parking areas joined by a vast green area. The first tasting room welcomes families with children and pets in tow. The second is adults only. I have been to both at various times, however on my last visit I was with a group of adult friends so we went to the adults only tasting room. We arrived about 4:45 and watched a large tour bus pull out of the lot as we were driving up. So glad we missed that! There was plenty of space in the lot, the server at the tasting bar was very helpful in helping us find glasses of wine to enjoy and we stocked up with goodies from the little shop (chorizo, extra aged cheddar, crackers and olives) to enjoy while we sipped our wine from an indoor table which nevertheless had an amazing view out to the mountains. The only (slight) downside is that Stone Tower no longer allows outside food to be brought into the premises. So no picnic baskets folks, sorry. However, their shop does provide all the picnic items you could want at prices similar to what you would find at Wegman's or Whole Foods with the same level of quality as well. And they give you your paper plates, plastic cutlery and napkins for free. As long as that's the case, it's not a problem for me. You get premium products at store prices. If you are visiting just one winery in Northern Virginia, this should be the one. For all around quality and ambiance you won't find a better option anywhere. read more

I have to start off by saying that this winery is absolutely beautiful! There is so much attention to detail with the landscaping and the decor of the buildings. They have many places to sit inside and out and they are pet friendly in the one building and lawn. They have so much land with grapes as far as you can see. They offer spaces for weddings and other special events. They have a beautiful pond and grass area for photos. As far as wine tasting and bottles go, they are about $5 more than the other wineries that we have visited. Two reasons that take one star away - they don't offer very sweet wines. We're partial to a good sweet Rosé or moscato and the sweetest wine they offered wasn't super sweet. Additionally, there was only one food truck. This greatly limited the options for food. The Jule's food truck ran out of meat and the owner of the food truck (separate from the winery) was not pleased to sell away his last whole chicken. We did ask if that was the only available food and we were told yes. Later on, we found out that the other building - (21+ no pets area), had pizza! We would've gotten pizza rather. We will definitely go back to the winery at some point but this time will eat pizza! read more

I learned so much about wine and was surprised that they don't mass distribute any of their wines at all because they don't have to! They sell so much. During the tasting we tried eight wines, which were all amazing! We started out with a glass of bubbly to kick off the day. From there, our greeter, gave us a variety of wines to try. Everything was absolutely delicious, but of course I leaned more to their red wines. I decided to take home one bottle of bubbly and two red wines. Below is what we decided to bring home from our wine tasting. Wild Boar Blanc de Noirs France - The name for this wine means" white wine from red grapes". This wine is about 80% Pinot Noir, which is my favorite grape for a champagne style wine. Also, this wine is a bit darker and has more grapes in it, than a typical rosé. 2016 Wild Boar Cabernet Franc - Cab Franc is a favorite of ours! This wine is 90% Cabernet France, and 10% Merlot. The Merlot really helps balance out the wine, and helps give the bottle a bit more body. Also, it was aged in French Oak for 18 months. 2016 Estate Wind Swept Hill - Cabernet Franc is the leader in this red blend bottle with 48%, 44% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. There are hits of licorice, berries, lilac, and cedar. The Merlot gives it a soft, velvety finish, really rounding out this bottle. This is by far one of my favorites from the winery read more

There really is no better outing fit for adults and kids than a day at a winery. More exciting than a regular park; less stressful than a water park. It's a happy medium. Besides being a gorgeous estate with sprawling hillside views that are to die for, Stone Tower Winery is one of just a handful of N. VA wineries that has a section for families with kiddos. You'll find a similar set-up at Bull Run, but at Stone Tower, you can enjoy a little - no, a LOT - more breathing room and take in as much of the breathtaking views as the fun singles do. And somehow they've managed to create an atmosphere that feels luxurious without being pretentious. My family of 15 - which included my not-yet-one-year-old and 4 big kids - set up blankets and chairs and a picnic of salami and cheeses under one of the only three or four trees on that spacious family lawn, the only shady spot on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Others had the same idea, of course, so we found ourselves a little cramped. But this got a little better as clouds rolled in later in the day and families spread out. At the top of the lawn is a terrace with tables and chairs (each with an umbrella), which can be reserved for $100. The tasting room is in a chaotic little barn facing the terrace that has seating available inside and out. Food trucks line up behind the barn, so while outside food is welcome (on the lawn only, by the way), don't feel bad if you don't feel like packing a picnic. The wine was tasty, but a little pricey. On the other side of the family lawn is the kid-less adults section, with a beautiful tasting room and a wrap-around patio with ample seating and a tower that offers fantastic views of the vineyard. This is where you will also find wood-fired pizza. So, a great winery all around...except for one tiny detail, which is why this isn't a 5-star review: for a winery that touts itself as family-friendly, there is no available family restroom in the family section and only one restroom has a changing table. I had to wait in a rather long line to change my baby in a unisex bathroom - huge inconvenience. It won't deter me from returning in the future, but it's an issue worth mentioning and something I hope the owners take note of. read more

Great food selections to go with wine however its a little confusing one side is just for members so not sure if everyone can go order food from that section; I heard that's where the delicious pizza, wings, and truffle fries are. We arrived when they were supposed to be open, but they had an private invite. Someone came by on a golf cart to say we need to leave. We had 8 people with us and we felt disrespected. I had a fabulous experience at Stone Tower Winery on Sunday. We decided to have a Executive Board outing here to end our term and it was perfect. We had an informational tour led by Nick who provided wonderful information about the winery. In addition, he also provided great info about the wine making process which I had never received at any other winery. He was knowledgable and friendly. We were able to take great pictures and taste various red, white and rose' wines along the way. After we completed the tour we ordered pizzas and fries and enjoyed the food on the patio outside of the tasting room before heading back to DC. Our group had a great experience. The winery has beautiful. They have indoor and outdoor options for private events and weddings with views to die for. Definitely worth the 1 hour drive from DC! read more

It was my first time at Stone Tower Winery and I was celebrating my birthday with a friend. The whole atmosphere and view is amazing. When I went to order food, the guy working the counter was beyond rude to me. I asked him if I had to pay with him or at another station in the stand. He snapped at me and made me feel stupid that I even asked that question (it was my first time there). Then after I paid, I clarified that I didn't want to start a tab. He snapped at me again in a very sarcastic tone. After that, he had the audacity to hit on my friend who ordered after me... She's taken bud. Nonetheless, my hummus plate had an olive pit in the hummus. So please be careful if you order this! I almost swallowed it. Also my friend ordered at the same time as me and waited 45 mins for her order for the charcuterie board. Her pager never went off. read more

We've been coming here for several years now, even had a nice private party a few years ago. We really only enjoy coming here because we are members and get access to the members only area. It was so very nice to see them police this area better over the past year or so by keeping others out and asking last name when people claim to be members. Their wines are still really good! Even though they're extremely expensive for "VA" wines (and we frequent RdV) with grapes that come from all over. The venue is beautiful and spread out, so even when it is really busy, there is usually a place to be found to sit & sip. read more
