Love love love LOVE. This was an amazing experience. I've been to a share of wineries in NJ, but this so far, takes the cake. The land, the buildings, the WINE! All 5 stars. You could spend your whole day here and not get enough of it. We reserved a table with a heater given we're in mid December, on the top patio. The view and smell of wood fire pits from below make for an amazing country side experience. Close by is the stone tower barn which I intend on checking out next time! There were a ton of free roaming cattle on land with no end in sight. As to the wine, delicious! The champagne was so good i bought three bottles for home! Also theres a cute gift shop inside and a basement for lounging if the outdoors doesn't suit you. I can't wait to be back in warmer weather! read more

The winery is situated in a lovely setting. All you have to do now is get beyond the long, rough dirt road. So don't wash your car before going because it will get dirty. So, before you travel, don't wash your automobile because it will get dirty. I went this past weekend, except for the staff, no one was wearing a mask. Not a bad thing for me since I'm vaccinated. I tried a couple wines and, to be honest, I didn't like for them. Still not a big deal for me since I planned on visiting other wineries. The deal breaker for me was that were told that we would have to wait an hour for our food to be prepared. I was terribly let down. It was a lovely day, and I wanted to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine while savoring the delectable ribs that I saw everyone devouring. The ambiance was great with tons of people outside. This place is great for taking pictures and large crowds. Despite my wine and food disappointments, I would definitely return to this winery because I enjoyed the friendly and knowledgeable staff, great location, great ambiance, and Pet Friendly. **Review as a Wedding Venue** The most beautiful venue a bride could ever ask for! The minute I stepped into Stone Tower, I fell in love. It was the first venue on our list and we ended up choosing it as every other paled in comparison - the views are just breathtaking. People are still raving about it and set their profile photos from our wedding scenery! Jillian initially helped us, but in the middle took a break for maternity leave... which we weren't notified of until she just left - one day I emailed her a question then received a bounced back email from her saying she had gone on leave and it included Lauren's contact info. Well good for us because Lauren was AWESOME! She was super responsive, professional, helpful, and positive throughout the process. She's very sweet and reassuring, especially as things became stressful. I literally had a question every other day and she answered so promptly. The team gave us many options for layout and everything else - literally whatever we wanted to do. They guided us through the process such as obtaining a liquor license, etc. They treated us really well, which I would hope so granted this venue was $$$. You certainly get a lot, such as the views, a beautiful whole house for the bride/maids to get ready, and most of the essential furniture/seating for a ceremony and reception. They have 2-3 sites for the ceremony you can choose from, a ballroom for reception, and even make a backup plan for rain. A few issues I had was that they made us purchase their "recommended amount" of wine. Our guests were pretty much split to the extremes between liquor drinkers or non-drinkers and kids. But an employee told us they "know how weddings go people will drink it all." I know she was just doing her job but girl, we know our family/friends. We were pretty much forced to buy eight cases of wine, and went home with FIVE. I knew it! Obviously, we have to purchase wine at the winery, but I was thinking 4-5 cases max. But due to my headcount they advised otherwise, not accounting for what I stressed to them. Yes, we kept the remainder of the wine, but the venue itself (let alone a whole freakin' wedding) is pricey enough and their wines are not cheap, even with the discount. Spent twice as much on wine alone than on the liquor & beer that we got tons of. Real talk they should think about revising how they calculate that amount as wedding demographics vary. Also, during our rehearsal the employees seemed to be all over the place/disorganized, got mixed up with scheduling, and promised to bring us a certain amount of chairs for the wedding party/older guests, which they didn't on the wedding day. Oh and there isn't really a place for the groomsmen to get ready, unless you rent the cottage for $250, but they allowed them to use the Virginia room on the day of for photos (I don't know why they don't just offer this in the first place). Aside from the few mishaps, we overall loved this beautiful venue, the wine, and Lauren certainly made the planning process a lot easier. read more

We met up with some friends that are wine club members today. My husband and I decided to join the wine club after walking around, the grounds are beautiful. We did a tasting with Jessica in the Harvest Barn. She also helped us join and helped us with our bottle purchases. She was fantastic, very informative about the wine. After our tasting we went out back to the patio, everything was super clean. We sat in the members area, our kids played sitting in the grass with us and then wanted to run by the pond. Susan checked on us a few times. We ordered a couple pizzas from one of the other buildings (the wood fire oven isn't ready at the Harvest Barn yet). It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon, I see more of this in our future. read more

Plenty of seating throughout, unfortunately there was a wedding going (amazing venue) on at the larger building with the tower so we weren't able to explore there. The winery is set in nice surroundings - its a large business with a large and palatial members only facility so this is not some small struggling enterprise. There's serious cash here. Given that, its beyond my understanding how it rates 4/5 when Im served a tepid pre made soggy beef sandwich and charged $15 for it .... there's clearly a problem. My wife and sister shared something else that looked just as unappetizing. Im not one to complain (usually) but Im not impressed - frankly Im seriously underwhelmed. I suggest "you" take a look at whats being served up for consumption from your kitchens, it really wouldn't take a lot of effort to put it right. 1/5 is all Im rating Stone Tower Winery. It was our first time at a winery. I had been really excited to visit as it's really popular in the DMV area. However, it wasn't what I expected. There was a lot of kids running around which surprised me. The food was all in take out boxes and it felt like very casual. For the prices they are charging, I expected it to be a lot nicer than received. We tried the crudités which was good. The wine was good and very different from store bought wine. What. A. Beautiful. Place. Seriously, this winery is absolutely gorgeous. Set out away from the crazy hustle and bustle of the DMV metro area, this beautiful winery overlooks rolling hills that creates the perfect backdrop for a serene, luxury winery. The one thing that really sticks out to me here is the service provided by the staff. The staff is knowledgeable about their wine, can hold nuanced conversations about wine, and have common decency (not a common thing at many wineries). Another great deal they have is their wine tasting option - you can try 7 wines (3 whites and 4 reds) for $20. Not bad!! The wines here aren't the best and the prices are a tad on the high side, but the venue and the people make it worth it! As a side note, they have a nice shop that you can buy meat platters, cheeses, chocolates. glasses, bottles of wine, etc. If I could find a fault in this place, I would have to say the restrooms. There are only a few main restrooms that always have a pretty nice sized line waiting for them. There are some porta potties there that are fine to use but look like they may have not been serviced in a few months! What an incredible afternoon with good friends, food and wine. There are two different buildings for food and wine. One more for the families and the other for 21 and older only which hosts more elegance in atmosphere and food. Both are dog friendly. Fire pits with chairs and table to enjoy company. Ah, my beloved Stone Tower Winery...I have spent many afternoons here, and I still can't get enough. This is the loveliest winery and the absolute perfect one, in my opinion. The space is massive and the views are stunning. I never worry about ti being too crowded because they have SO much seating and "hang space" it's ridiculous. The main "House" is my favorite because they have multi levels, rooms and an expansive lawn space to picnic. You can bring your own food, but they also have an excellent selection of meats, cheeses and even bread that I am assuming is made in-house. There's usually a wedding going on if you travel there on weekends, but it never seems to hinder the regular tasting and drinking festivities. I love dressing up in my best "winery outfits" and coming here to feel just a little extravagant and a whole lot of relaxed! I already can't wait to go back! read more

Wonderful views, nice wine, good food and quick service! That's all I am asking for when I am at a winery and that's what I got at the Stone Tower Winery. I visited this place in late October, it was sunny outside and we enjoyed sitting on the patio while trying their wines and pizza which they cook on wood fire. I would not say it was one of the best wines that I have had, but I think it was pretty good and worth visiting. Pizza though was really good (and was paired well with the wine). We also did the wine tasting which was another nice experience and the person presenting gave us extra sparkling at the end. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy wine while sitting outside and enjoying the view. P.s. it's close to DC which is another advantage! read more

Stone Tower is such a beauty. The venue is large, with lots of space, great views of the Hogback Mountain and had decent wine. Their wine isn't my favorite in the area, but I do enjoy their Petit Verdot and the Rose. I do not like their Merlot at all. One of the things I like Stone Tower the most is that there are separate areas for kids and adults, and it's so nice you can visit in any season and feels like a nice getaway. In the winter, I love to sit by the fireplace and in the summer/spring and even fall, I love to grab a blanket and sit outside. Beware though - it is extremely crowded in the summer as it is an extremely popular winery. read more

Took my father here for Father's Day and had a really nice time. The winery is lovely - the tasting room in some ways is a bit rustic, but it's pretty cool. The owners of the winery own Belfort furniture, and the tasting room (temporary for right now) is located in an upscale garage decorated with lots of tables, chairs, and couches - very comfy furniture - probably Belfort's "leftovers." I'm not complaining! There are also a ton of tables outside overlooking the rolling hills. Very cool atmosphere. But, while the atmosphere is nice, what you really care about is the wine, right? Actually, it was pretty darn good, in my opinion. They feature primarily whites with a few reds, and what I tasted was done really well. I particularly liked the blanc de blancs as well as the Lacey Chardonnay (not too oaky nor buttery) and the Viognier. The Noble red was pretty good, as well. Good enough to enjoy a glass of Chardonnay and then a bottle of the Noble red after our tasting! Again, it was just a very relaxed and chill environment, a great place to spend an afternoon. Came in here last weekend and did a tasting with Jill. She was really great and did not rush us through the tasting like some other places do. The wines were pretty good overall. The place has not been opened up for too long, but I was happy to hear that most of the wine came from grapes on the property, not from other vineyards (at least the whites). The grounds here are amazing and would be great to spend some more time at. They have some bigger plans for this place and I am sure it will be one of the top spots once it is done. Stopped in to visit Stone Tower Winery for the first time this past Saturday afternoon. Joanne was my wine pourer. She was incredibly knowledgable and enthusiastic about Stone Tower wines. I got to taste four wines: one sparking wine, two whites, and one red. I enjoyed tasting all of the wines - they were all pretty good. I ended up purchasing one bottle of their Chardonnay and one red - the Wild Boar Sanglier Noble. They will be releasing a Malbec soon, and in Autumn 2015 - a Petit Verdot! They are in the final stages of completing construction of a brand new and much larger wine tasting facility that will open Spring 2015. Nice winery, good wines, and very friendly folks! read more

I would totally avoid coming here during covid times. They kick you out after two hours even if the area you're in is empty. The bathroom line is absurd--be prepared to wait for 15 minutes. We arrived within 1 hour of opening and they were out of 1/2 the food items at the BBQ booth and the food is all over the place/confusing. The charcuterie board was a joke and overpriced. I was disappointed they didn't have descriptions of the wine--do you know what a Norton wine is? Me either..so everyone asks the employee in line to describe each wine and it holds up the line. Umm..add descriptions, no? Because of this I didn't purchase any bottles to take home when normally I would. Of any winery I have ever been to, Stone Tower is without question the absolute best. From scenery to excellent wine and knowledgeable staff, they have it all! There are no words for how truly beautiful Stone Tower is. It sort of appears majestically out of nowhere down a long dirt road and takes your breath away. There are two separate buildings, one for visitors and one for special events like weddings. The inside is spectacular and the entire outside area is even better with views of the vineyard that could convince anyone they have transported from Virginia to Tuscany. I can't say enough about the wine, either. Whether you're into whites, reds, or rosés, there's something for everyone. I highly recommend doing one of their tastings. It includes six wines but usually they'll let you taste any extras you're interested in! This really helps you decide what glass or bottle you want to share for the day. They also have a small Gift shop where you can buy snacks like cheese and crackers and a new wood fired oven so you can order pizza that is fabulous, too! If you love this place as much as I do, you may want to consider becoming a wine club member. This includes three annual pick ups, 10% off of EVERYTHING, and 6 free tasting cards throughout the year. read more

It was my first winery experience and although they've stopped guided tour due to covid-19, we were able to order food and wine. They had a good selection of wine and the barbeque was really amazing! This is my second year coming to Stone Tower Winery as part of a corporate outing. During our event, we were able to try all of the wines produced and sold by Stone Tower. Our guide, Joe, was extremely experienced in the history of the winery as well as the origins and background of each wine. As a rookie, it was interesting to hear the story of what we were drinking. The space is also absolutely gorgeous. It is homey but also very lavish. I do not know if they do tours of the land, but that would be a great addition to our experience. read more

Came here with girlfriends on a busy Saturday and had an amazing time. First, the place is incredible and feels luxurious. We had a wine and tasting tour with a wonderful guide. Seriously, not only was he patient once a few people had a bit too much tasting wine but he actually taught us a few things. The wine was delicious and there wasn't a single person who did not buy wine. Even the ones that had to travel with our wines bAck home on a flight, took home a few bottles, LOL!! We went in October 2020. We did not have a reservation but the reception staff did their best to find us seats especially as we inquired about the different wines. The receptionist did a wonderful job of telling us about their wine flights and the white grape vines they had. This peaked our desire to try the wines. We also found the setting very beautiful even on a rainy fall day. The wines were meh. This winery banks on their ambience to sell mediocre wines at higher prices. Seriously, the wines are not worth the price tag. We did not try their food or get to enjoy the ambience for too long because the owner (yes, he told every table he was the owner) came to hurry us out by bringing us the bill and quickly charging our credit card. It was near closing time but felt harsh especially when he targeted us versus others who had been there a while. I will say they did a good job of taking COVID-19 precautions. They had live music which added to the ambiance. The pizza was wood fired and very tasty. The fries were crinkle cut and had great flavor but weren't very fresh. This was my first time visiting a winery for a tour and it was wonderful. The vineyard was absolutely stunning. Each section of the vineyard grew a different variety of grapes that made Stone Tower's best Cabs, sauvignon blancs, chardonnays etc. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Stacey who was our tour guide in the main building. It was rustic but classy and comfortable without feeling pretentious. Stacey started us off with a taste of their blubby rose and as we ventured to other parts of the production floor and tasting rooms, she explained the history, their process, what makes their wines special and the best way to taste and enjoy wine. To be honest, I had a not-so-great experience overhearing a negative conversation from another employee when I was there in September with a large group for a friend's wedding rehearsal. It gave me the perception that they viewed our group being there having a glass after the rehearsal as a nuisance, which rubbed me the wrong way knowing how much the couple loved Stone Tower and had invested into this venue for their special day. I work at another winery nearby, so I understand the stress larger groups can bring to employees, but I always make an effort to stay positive and give them a great experience. But all my prior visits had been positive, and I heard their newer wines were great, so I wanted to give it another try! I did a private vineyard tour and tasting with Kevin with a group of friends for my birthday this past weekend and it was an amazing experience! He was so knowledgeable and easy to talk to and we all learned a ton while having fun and tasting a great variety of wines. This is the best hidden gem of a winery I have ever been to. I have been to many wineries, and I have to say this was my absolute favorite. It's huge, by my comparison, with 3 beautiful, wonderfully decorated buildings, great outdoor seating, and views to die for. The atmosphere was great, very welcoming, and homey. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, that if it wasn't too far from where I live, I would've bought a membership. I also believe there were separate family and 21+ areas, so the place definitely caters to everyone. I actually don't think the prices are that expensive, as I've been to much more expensive wineries. My boyfriend and I shared a bottle of a Cab Sauv for $38, and I loved it so much, I had to buy a bottle to take home. My boyfriend then ordered a glass of the Cab Franc, and as someone who isn't a fan of that wine, I absolutely loved it! We did not order food, but I guess the wait time for food can take a bit of time when it's a nice weekend afternoon, so plan some time in for that. I heard many people around me say the pizza was delicious. It seems like their staple, because almost every table had ordered it. I love this place. I'm not the only one either because it is always so busy! Even in the rain!! Ambiance is so beautiful. You feel like you're in a home. It is very clean. The blanc De blanc is my favorite, so crisp and refreshing. They have a lot of great white wine choices. And the flat bread is fresh made to order. There is a market where you can buy food. You can also bring your own food. They have a very large staff on hand in case you need anything at all and they are all so friendly. They host a lot of weddings here.... I highly recommend a visit if you havent been already. The only downside is the gravel road to get here can get pretty rocky. read more

It may sound weird but when I visit local wineries, I find it is more fulfilling to find a place with great service, and I would take that all day over a place with great wine and mediocre service. Fortunately, even though many of the wines we tried at stone tower were good (not great), we were very lucky to have Amy to guide us through the selections, and give us suggestions and background information all throughout our visit. We were greeted with smiles and wine knowledge, what more can you ask for? The facilities are incredible and there was just a good vibe with very welcoming staff, all dressed professionally and easy to get someone's attention very quickly if you need anything. Visited this place today to celebrate my cousin's birthday and her sons baptism. Family from as far as Delaware and New Jersey made the trip to enjoy the day. We decided to visit Stone Tower Vineyard. A place they have been telling us about for years. I was excited! It was a beautiful day and our anticipation grew as we drove the windy road up to the winery. We were happy to see that there was PLENTY of outdoor seating available. We walked up and told the host that we had a party of 16 and we would love to sit outside. Imagine our shock when they refused to seat us. Said there was an 8 person maximum and there was no way they could make an exception. The manager did offer a private party room for $450/ hour with a 3 hour minimum. That was funny. We decided to disregard the manager. Our group sat inside and outside. We bought food and over 20 bottles of wine and had an awesome time. Beautiful setting , really good wine and nice layout. The indoor seating area had ridiculously short stools at the high top tables and it is in serious need of ceiling fans. The manager needs some training on thinking outside the box and that ridiculous 8 person rule has to be revised. I would have given 2 stars for the bad policy and lack of manager accommodation. Also the stuffy indoor eating area and the bad stools. (Im 6'3" and the tabletops were up to my shoulders) The nice young lady at the bar was very sweet and helpful. Gave an extra star for her excellent customer service. There are plenty of other wineries in the area. I will continue exploring them. read more
