I had a wonderful experience with this restaurant last month on a large take out order for a party. I called and spoke to a catering specialist who helped organize and get me the right amount of food for the best value. When we arrived to pick it at the scheduled time it was hot and ready to go and caused no delay to our busy day of hosting. My one complaint and I am not sure it helps the person on the phone when you make a large order but there were discounts on the app that she could not add on the phone but she walked me through the order on the app and confirmed they received it. I ordered a "Value Meal Bundle" and it was absolutely a mixed bag. I used to get things from Stonefire all the time and like anywhere else, the prices have gone way up. With that, I expect the quality of food still to be good... and it just wasn't. This meal came with a salad, pasta, bread sticks, and a 7" pizza for two. It's a pretty good deal if the food is decent, but it wasn't. The salad was just okay, the breadsticks had no flavor to them. The pizza was the highlight and it was absolutely amazing. The biggest problem was I ordered pasta with Alfredo sauce and there was literally no sauce on it. Maybe a tablespoon worth of sauce, like it was seriously a joke... see my photo. I've had plain pasta with butter that had more flavor than that for less than $2.00. This bundle was not worth $30 after tip. I'm disappointed Stonefire. You used to do better. The employee at the front had to be called up to the register while she was joking around with a coworker in the back, and her attitude came across as rude and unprofessional. Food is good, service very slow. Restaurant condition very poor and dirty. Employees walked around, ignoring all of this, and the manager was completely oblivious of it too. We were there over an hour, and the staff was not busy they had time to hang and chat, and so did the manager, yet no one cleaned up the plates or did any sweeping. I've had Stonefire before and have been a fan. I was visiting my parents and we ended up here. Dinner for 3 cost about $75.00 with only fountain drinks. We each opted for individual meals with 1 protein, 1 side and 2 breadsticks. Unfortunately, my tri-tip plate with garlic pepper had an unexpected flavor of blue cheese. Upon invesigating, I find out it was the Gorzondoza butter. I wish the server would have informed me instead of using the words garlic pepper. The butter had such a strong taste. I am not a fan of any cheese in the blue cheese family. It would have been a hard no if I knew about the hidden ingredient. My tummy also disagreed on the butter because I ended up on the toliet for a very long time. The restaurant is very roomy and is family friendly. They have a stimulus package which they really don't talk about. It can save you a lot of money. read more

Order at the counter by the front door. They bring the food to your table once it is ready. I went with the personal size South of the Border salad with chicken ($13.29). My wife ordered the Italian Chopped Salad ($13.69). Each salad was huge, loaded with the appropriate protein (BBQ chicken in mine, chopped salami in hers). and they were each very tasty. Great value. This is by far thee best stonefire location I've ever been to! It's SO CLEAN and everything is stocked. Now the service is what really stood out to me, Ashley was so nice, her amazing energy really made my day, and Gerald (the manager) was so nice as well. Furthermore, it's a very comfortable place to take the family or a date and be able to sit back and relax and enjoy yourself in a peaceful safe environment. I think their brownies, which is a recipe that's been floating Southern California for a while, are pretty much believed to be the best brownies in the world! The Stonefire chicken tenders, for lack of a better name, I hate calling them that because they're anything but chicken tenders ...breaded chicken breast strips. I'm stretching for a name here but they're delicious . Their mashed potatoes are great. Their vegetables are all awesome and I like very homemade tasting potato salad, which is not traditional at all. We came in town for a family birthday celebration & decided to have lunch here since it was close by. We were greeted by an amazing young man who took our order & suggested at least five popular dishes that people love! This helped a lot as we had a lunch special each...one a pesto pasta with a side Caesar salad and the other a barbecue chicken club sandwich with Caesar salad. So I always go to the West Hills location and decided to come here since I was in the neighborhood. It was my first time here. Super clean. Everyone was super sweet. The person who helped me out was Sierra. She was honestly so sweet and amazing. Helped me with deciding what I wanted to try, and was just overall a gem. (Will def come back for Sierra) I never leave reviews about this... but the bathroom was super clean. I ordered the bbq chopped salad with chicken and corn on the side, a kids pizza, breadsticks and the pesto pasta. It all tasted SO great. Food came out at a great time. Service was amazing. Stonefire Grill is decisively *not* fire. My tritip was overdone, chewy, had a weak sear, and had a dollop of..blue cheese? I'm all for blue cheese on broiled NY steaks but did not like it on the already butter-smothered tri-tip. Not to mention, the inclusion of blue cheese wasn't even on the menu. That should change, so it's less a surprise to customers. Anyway, both my wife and I had several instances where meat got caught in our throats due to the stringiness and chewiness of the meat. The mashed potatoes were the best part of the meal, no doubt. I believe they're twice-baked potatoes, rather than boiled and mashed. They have a good roasted flavor that's somehow simultaneously familiar but also unique. 7/10 on the potatoes. Breadsticks. Yikes. Have you, the reader, ever used the microwave to defrost bread that had freezer burned and gone stale..where the edges of the bread have this dense, dry characteristic akin to what I imagine people in the Iron Age called bread, despite it being almost nothing like that which we today call bread? That's a Stonefire breadstick. And for dessert, pineapple cake! Wait..no, that was carrot cake. Fairly certain it had more pineapple than carrot, but I suppose that's not a bad thing on its own without context (of course, there was the whole context of actually being ordered as a carrot cake, but no matter). I will say: the dominance of pineapple kept the cake moist, for whatever that's worth. Unfortunately, the moistness of the cake was overshadowed by the cream cheese frosting tasting more like paint (a mild paint, to be fair..like a child's nontoxic version) than cream cheese. Idk why it seems to be popular. Carrot cake should be dense, spiced in a way that reminds the eater of autumn, with large but not intrusive inclusions. This cake had none of that, but the frosting is the biggest opportunity for improvement. With the inclusion of coupons/deals, our total for two dinners and a shareable-sized dessert was only like 32 bucks. For this price, the meal was still arguably worth the cost; but I can't in good conscience recommend eating here at regular prices. Almost any other small- to medium-sized chain restaurant would be a better option. read more

The wife and I always enjoy eating at Stonefire in Thousand Oaks. Today my wife tried the lunch special tri-tip sandwich with a small Caesar salad. She enjoyed it.l but didn't rave. I went with my standard half bbq chicken with potato salad for my side. I really appreciate that the side is plenty enough especially because I love their homemade potato salad. The chicken is always fresh and tender. The garlic breadsticks are freshly baked and we devoured them. I hope the summer corn arrives soon but I can't afford it at the $5 they charged last summer. My family and I ordered take out from Stone Fire Grill in Thousand Oaks for my birthday dinner and it was all delicious. My problem is there are so many good choices. The helpings are always plentiful. My favorite is the grilled chicken in garlic sauce (you should sell the sauce separately since it is so good). The cole slaw with peanuts is a must. Besides the lack of cleanliness and very poor service the food was surprisingly disgusting. If perhaps I did ever return it would only be for the Pizza because that was the only thing that was good. Everything else we ate was not grilled and when you think Stone Fire and you order BBQ you expect grilled meat this was not the case. We ordered catering from StoneFire for a birthday gathering, and when we unpacked everything, we realized the mashed potatoes were missing. We had assumed one of the trays was the mash, but it turned out to be breadsticks. I called the restaurant pretty upset--this was our main meal, and it threw everything off right as we were about to serve. That's when Daniel Gill, the Assistant GM, completely turned the situation around. He was kind, professional, and genuinely understanding. Without hesitation, he drove from Thousand Oaks to Moorpark to personally deliver the missing mashed potatoes and make sure our celebration stayed on track. The truth is, mistakes happen--no one is perfect. What truly matters is how those mistakes are handled, and that's where Daniel really stood out. I love the bbq ribs and chicken as well as the tri tip here and they recently improved the choices offered for side dishes. My wife loves the creamed corn. Makes a welcome addition to the garlic mashed potatoes and you can also add a cornbread casserole which I would like to try. I was not impressed with the Stonefire Grill. We stopped in about 6:30 and it as busy but not crowded. The table had nothing t been wiped clean and was sticky, we tried another table but is was dirtier that the one we were first at. I ordered a salad and a half-rack if baby backs. My wife ordered soup and a pulled pork sandwich. The salad arrived first which is when I realized you had to get your our utensils and napkins. The forks in the baskets did not look like they had been washed and watching the people ahead of me stick their hands in to grab them made me question their sanitary status. My wife got her pulled pork first and then had to ask several times about he soup which when it finally showed up was barely warm. I had to ask about my ribs several times. The finally showed up without the side of mashed potatoes which took about 15 minutes to show and of course by that time they were cold. I understand that Stonefire Grill is great for takeout, but I don't recommend them for dine-in. read more

It's very disappointing when things like this happen. I have not heard anything from the manager at Stonefire so I'm confused as to what steps were taken to rectify the situation. Went for a last minute birthday dinner.... The staff was nice, but the food was horrible, the side salad was basically a bowl of lettuce soaked in a watery soup of so called "dressing " ... and the nutty coleslaw was basically the same cabbage in a bowl or water with some peanuts thrown in.... The bread sticks were good for bread , but they again didn't have much flavor, and the 1 time I had them yrs ago I remember them being amazing. Our experience was kind of a mess. When we ordered our food the cashier put the order in and I told him to use my reward points, he then had to redo the whole order and failed to reread what he had. We then sat down and immediately handed an order of tri tip, but that wasn't our order. The person who brought it looked at us like it was an inconvenience to him he brought the wrong food. He then returns with the salad and no dressing. We had to flag down someone for dressing and again seemed inconvenienced. Next we wait about 15 min for our pizza to arrive, I ordered tomato and mushrooms, they bring it as a 1/2 and 1/2. I did not oder this way but the cashier did put it in this way.
