I stopped in with some family on a drizzly November Saturday evening. Because it was off-season, and likely due to the weather, we were seated immediately, but I imagine that there would probably be a long wait to be seated during peak season. The menu is pretty standard American/New England dining fare. We ordered a bunch of different menu items, but I think the one that stood out to us all was the peanut-crusted chicken wings. Everything else was fine. It's really all about the location when dining here, anyways. You are quite literally across the street from the beach. It's worth dining here for the beautiful views. The staff is very attentive and on top of it. Several different staff members checked on our table regularly to see if we needed anything. Stones Throw was definitely worth the stop. read more

We ordered bang bang broccoli. 3 large heads of apparently steamed broccoli came out with a dipping sauce for a mere $15. I've had bang bang many times and this wasn't even close. Attentive service and great view. Started with a delicious white wine sangria and the mussels appetizer - wine and garlic version. Terrific. Hubby got the poke bowl - average but not fantastic. I got a good lobster roll, but didn't want fries. Trying to eat better so subbed in a side salad. Waiter John said it was $2, but I was charged $3 - not a huge deal but you should know your prices. My biggest issue came with the bill - $113?!?! On closer review we were charged $14 for tenders and $8 for a beer - we didn't have either. Waiter said it was "the wrong bill" but everything else was correct... it was corrected and I certainly hope it was an error, but the cynical part of me doubts that. I wouldn't go back because of this incident. If you do go, I recommend you review every line of your bill before paying. I'll also be watching my bank app to make sure the correct tip is applied. Let me start by saying wow, just wow! I've been coming to york for about 30 years, granted half of that was as a child and with my family.Regardless last year my wife and I started a new chapter by going to stones throw! We loved it, it has great vegan options for her and other great meal options for me, including a few Non-alcoholic beverages which is great since we both don't drink and we feel these options should be more normalized which stones throw achieves. Despite the small internet issues we had with our room and some other small issues, we were greeted with the most welcoming of solutions. The owners had just bought and completely renovated the ever iconic Nevada motel just down the street, despite them only have just received word they can have occupancy they upgraded us to a king room with an ocean view in a virtually empty hotel. the atmosphere was cruise ship like with and islander restaurant and feel, with the same great options as stones throw! The manager Cam and owner Joe made us feel welcome, understood our concerns and easily without issue accommodated us. We stopped in on our way home from Old Port, Me for a quick bite with views of the ocean. Stones Throw did not disappoint! The drinks were great, the food was actually exceptionally good considering the incredible location, whereas usually, quality suffers when the location is epic such as this. Our servers were fabulous, from our bartender that took care of us until our outdoor table looking at the ocean was ready, to our waitress that made sure we had everything needed to thoroughly enjoy our time at York Beach. This "hidden"gem should not be overlooked when exploring the Maine coast. It is a definitely worthwhile stop you don't want to miss! read more

Several gluten-free choices on the menu. The gluten-free chicken wings with spicy peanut sauce are very tasty. The lobster roll (not GF) was also good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location on Long Sands has beautiful views and was not too crowded on a Sunday in late October, but must be very busy during the summer. I was initially turned off because the music was way too loud in there. However, the menu had some interesting choices so we stayed. My son had the lobster sushi which he liked. I had the shrimp in the cast iron. It was pretty good. My hub had a burger and said it was okay. The family next to us had beautiful looking salads for dinner with some cool things on them. The muscles appetizer was also good. We went for oysters on the half shell but they were sold out. Food was a little expensive but the waitress was very nice and it's a great location. read more

The seasoning on the baked potato fries appetizer was to die for. My chick pea curry burger was absolutely amazing but the fries on the side were just meh after having those delicious seasoned fries. Oh wow! Right on Rte one looking over the road to the lovely Long Sands Beach this classy, casual little spot serves up really great food. The salads were great. My lobster roll was soooo good with wonderful fries. The German chocolate was deep dark deliciousness with rich coconut nutty frosting. OMG! Anyway, go there! read more

The best meal I have ever had, so flavorful, cooked excellent complimented with corn, spinach side. Excellent. My best friend had the salmon and scallops. This was terrible service. I got there and the hostess made a joke and tried to be funny but wasn't. I was alone just trying to relax and get dinner. I went to use the restroom and when I came back up my table was cleared including my food to go as well as a drink that i just ordered. They then still charged me for everything even though it was taken away. I understand if it's 45 mins until you have to close but if your gonna be like that then at the very least take off a drink. We were driving back from Bar Harbor and needed a 1/2 point to stop for lunch and just to stretch our legs before continuing on for another 4 hours. Stone Throw came up on Yelp as a good choice and it did not disappoint! We ordered the NE Clam Chowder to start and it was perfect, just the right creamy texture and filled with potato and clams. We both ordered the Baja Tacos. I didn't realize that it didn't come with any side but it was sufficient. They were delicious! The location was perfect literally oceanfront! This place was great! We sat on the deck and could see the water and beach across the street. The servers were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious- I got a cheeseburger and it was amazing! I also really enjoyed their fries- they were like potato skin/chips. I also LOVED the dilly beans- a pickled green bean that had awesome flavor and was super yummy. My husband got the cheesesteak and said it was one of the best ones he's ever had. I've been here twice. The first time was just an appetizer and drinks. Delicious chicken tenders and very good craft cocktails. Today we had dinner too. Did not disappoint! I had pan seared scallops which were large, tender and perfectly caramelized. As delicious as they were, the star of the dish in my opinion was the accompanying carrot-cauliflower-puree & bacon-corn-arugula saute. Absolutely delicious! My date had the fish and chips, which was an enormous portion and delicious! The fries are also very good- I don't usually like battered fries but these were delicious. The 3 rd person in our party had the California salad which was as tasty as it was impressive to look at. Service was very good but they did forget to bring plates for the appetizer so I had to go to the bar area and find my own. The ambiance of the ocean right across the street and al fresco dining makes it a great spot! I fear that it will be impossible to get here during the busy summer season but even if I have to stick to off-season, I will be back! read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while. I ordered a fish sandwich that was dry and my brother in law ordered a full entree that could barely pass as a appetizer. The food took roughly an hour to arrive. The service was decent but not great. This place is making a killing by serving half sized portions for $18-$24 a dish. The server was explained why we were not happy with the meal. She explained that "they are a different kind of restaurant" (whatever what means) and that "most people just order the appetizers." She also agreed with our complaints stating that she knows the portions are small and that the food is not very good. The view is nice. read more

Absolutely delicious! We stayed at View Point, sister property a few minutes away and wanted excellent take out to enjoy on our own balcony. Perfect for Covid! Our goal is to search out the best lobster rolls while here and we found them here at Stones Throw! And the french fries were seasoned perfectly. Just amazing!! In light of COVID-19, Stones Throw has done a great job reopening for takeout. We were so happy to be able to enjoy our favorites from home! I had the seared scallops with corn, bacon, arugula sauté and yummy potatoes. It was all so delicious I scarfed it down before I could take a photo. Our savior!!!! Our weekend getaway to the area started with a horrible experience at the anchorage inn down the street. While trying to figure out an alternative place to stay my wife found Stones Throw on Yelp. Upon arrival at Stones Throw we were greeted by the nicest hostess we have come across in awhile. The team at Stones Throw created us with such enthusiasm that we decided to stay in there hotel. The rooms are quaint but extremely nice, the property is great and very inviting! The staff are beyond amazing!! The food at dinner was mind blowing ( top 5 experience in 15 years). The Buratta was the best I have ever had , seriously the best!!!! Buffalo shrimp was amazing!!! Definitely had the best experience and food we have had in recent memory which says a lot considering my wife oversees one of the most exclusive private clubs in the world!!! Personally I can't wait to come back for a vacation and a meal to the Stones Throw!!! Thank you for making my Top 5 list!!!! Best experience in 15 years!!! Amazing talent, food, staff and atmosphere!! Don't want to go back to my wife's club that has a 8 year waiting list and $250,000 a year membership fee. Everything had great flavors and we enjoyed each of our dishes. But the service was unfortunately not great. It was a bit chaotic having those waiting wait across the street on a sidewalk but we got seated at a reasonable hour. We ordered appetizers and main courses but before we could eat two bites of our appetizers they brought out our hot main courses. So we had to choose which part of the meal we wanted to eat cold- the appetizers or the main courses. We brought this up to the waiter and he offered to take our main course off the table and let it sit on the counter then bring it back out when we are ready but we pointed out this doesn't really solve the problem of cold food....unfortunately that was all he could offer. Didn't offer to re-make the dishes, take something off the bill, or anything that would have tried to address the situation. While it may seem trivial, you typically don't expect to go to a restaurant to eat cold food. Would be willing to give the restaurant another try as the food was great but just hope to have a different waiter. read more
