Never got a chance to eat there. Apparently their parking lot behind the restaurant isn't for restaurant patrons, only motel guests. After we parked our cars they asked us to move them to find street parking. That was the moment they watched seven (7) people get back into 2 cars and drive away. We stayed at the stones throw for three nights and I just did not want to leave! The rooms were quaint and right on the ocean, I believe it's the best place to stay on that strip! And the food at the restaurant!!!!! Omg!!! It was simply amazing! All the food we tried on the menu was outstanding ! And there is the staff.... They were all amazing and more than accommodating! Perfect beach find! As far as restaurants on the water go, this one tops my list. The atmosphere is very cute and the food and drinks were even better! I am an avid tuna poke eater and this appetizer portion was one I didn't even want to share (even though I had to). I ordered the fish tacos which were perfectly crisp although could use a little more of the spicy mayo sauce drizzled over it. My boy friend ordered the steakin sandwich which after having tried described it as the best steak sandwich he's has - and this kid likes to eat. Definitely returning and so happy we found this little gem to add to our weekend Maine visits. read more

Food deserves five stars. Service was great. The venue is not 5 stars. We had the lobster roll. We had a choice of cold salad or butter cooked. We had the butter option and OMG it was the best. A little pricey but worth the dollers. We would go there again in a minute. read more

5 stars service and setting. 3.75 stars food. Throughout the pandemic, when it was hard to do, they always were well staffed and staff was always pleasant. Still true ... Food, however, we felt was not as good as prior years. More fried/less healthy options (bring back haddock cakes vs haddock and corn/mostly breading deep fried fritters please) and in general please more healthy/fresh options. Also the French fries now seem like not as good as in prior seasons. In prior years they seemed to be hand cut, fresh, steak fries, now they seem like food service frozen fries - I could be wrong so I am sure management will respond and correct me if so (if I am right, please do bring back the good ones so when we do decide to eat fried stuff it's worth it)! read more

The food has changed since I last dined there. There are more unique items on the menu. The shaved steak sandwich is phenomenal! The staff is wonderful. The decor and scenery can't get any better. One particular person really stuff out of the crowd. Hannah wasn't just good at her job, she was honest. She was given cash for a tip and a tip was added to the credit card. She could've just taken it, but she came back to the table and pointed out the double tip. There were a couple other surprising things she did, but that showed us her integrity, which is something you don't get to see unless these types of situations pop up. She's a hard-working, college girl and was told to keep the tips. I think this is a positive reflection of the business's integrity based on the type of people they have hired. read more

Do yourself a favor....eat here!! You will not regret it! Our family has been eating here since it opened. The food is fantastic. So extremely tasteful you will want to try everything on the menu! Last week, I had their fish tacos, the fish was so flaky fresh and cooked to perfection! I tried my wife's scallops.....OMG!!! I have tried scallops elsewhere and these were beyond delicious, that we had to go back again just to get them. The spices...delish!! There appetizers are phenomenal, different, my personal favorite is the bang-bang Broccoli and the Asparagus! Don't even get me started with the drinks...between the Pain Killer and Coupe-o-Joe!! I made a reservation for Stones Throw over the winter. I had never been there and wanted an ocean front room. I was worried after seeing they didn't have an elevator as my sister has some mobility problems. I must say upon arriving they were so accommodating. The staff brought all our bags to our room. Anytime we needed anything, they promptly delivered to us. The room was beautiful and the customer service was excellent. I feel this is what sets them apart from other places. The Restaurant was great as well. We loved the food and again, the hospitality showed to us was above expectations. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants exceptional customer service . Comfortable atmosphere right on Long Sands! Best "beach" chicken wings around. The pain killer cocktail also a must try.

My husband and I decided to go to Stones Throw in York Beach for dessert and a drink. The setting is lovely on Long Sands. We ordered the fried dough $8 with powdered sugar, whipped cream and side of blueberry jam. I would have kept my mouth shut but the bartender asked us how is your dessert? It was very little dough in the middle and cooked to much. She said that another lady was afraid of salmonella as the reason... I should have said there are no eggs in bread dough... just flour, water & yeast... She did nothing about it but was not as friendly after that! Oh well I won't order that again! The sangria which I would give 3 or 4 stars was good... I guess the cooks have never been to a carnival and had fried dough before! read more

WHAT A GREAT STAY! When my wife and I checked into our room at Stone's Throw, we immediately noticed how hot the room was. We saw the manager(?) Jodie walking by and mentioned it to her. She came to check it out and then told us she'd have maintenance there shortly. Within 10 minutes, Patrick came by. He realized that the thermostat was not working properly, no matter how he adjusted it. You could tell he felt badly about it. He left and came back shortly after with Jodie. They did not think they could get it fixed that night and so, very generously, upgraded us to an ocean view room at no charge. They moved our stuff to that room while we were at dinner next door. In chatting, we happened to tell them we were in town for our 39th wedding anniversary. They ended up giving us a $50 gift card! Amazing and so kind. About the restaurant- it had just opened for the season. Very busy, mostly locals. We put our name on the list and were seated pretty quickly. My wife had their take on Caesar's salad. Upon finishing it, she simply said "That was amazing!" (Rare words from my wife at a restaurant.) She had the Cod en Papillote which she said was good. I had Buffalo Shrimp and then Salmon. Both excellent. We split Flourless Chocolate Cake for dessert- awesome. And that was on the house! We actually ordered the Caesar Salad and the cake again the next night for takeout. The good vibe in the restaurant was palpable. Lots of smiles from staff and clientele alike. Good music in the background, somewhat loud but not overpowering. Lots of energy. We felt that we were treated so special by folks who had never laid eyes on us before. Perhaps the most telling comment from the whole weekend was my wife saying " I'd come back!" As a business owner it would not be something I would feel proud to serve to guests. The pasta also left a lot to be expected and the only meal that was okay was the burger. Meh. That is the best I can really say. I got the baja tacos and a Pineapple mojito. Starting with the tacos. Once again. Meh. They didn't really taste like anything. I don't think the fish was seasoned at all, and the pico they put on top was more of the same meh. The pineapple mojito was weak. And $11. My boyfriend makes way better mojitos that actually have mint and lime flavors. Even though there was plenty of muddled mint, the drink still tasted like weird sprite. Our last stop and a favorite place! Delicious for the foodies at heart dining beachside for a great experience! We always enjoy brunch beachside here when in York Harbor. I Love their simple but fun combinations for drinks and menu i.e. including the ever so popular chicken and waffles trend. The only drink I missed was a good old fashioned expresso, this is a must have for brunch or as after dinner option. We are looking forward to our next visit! read more

this place is so modern and fun!! the view is so amazing. the waitress was so sweet and got all our orders right! i got the salad and broccoli. the broccoli was a bit for the table, the sweet and sour sauce has a nice bunch at the end. everyone at the table was fighting over the broccoli! my salad was so yummy!! i highly recommend adding the chickpea burger because it adds so much flavor. i know there's a lot of options in york but i highly recommend coming here. it's even open in the fall which is great. read more

Food is good, table servers are great. They had a burger special for $6 and $1 for any extras...cheese, fries, etc. On other visits, I tried lobster flatbread, clam chowder, calamari, summer rolls, fish and chips...all delicious. A bit pricy if you're not getting the burger, but expected for one of the only sitdown restaurants on this end of the beach. Bar service is lacking. I always feel like I could have ordered one more drink, but the bartender disappears or goes out of his way to stay away from me at the other end of the bar. Stones Throw also has an inn/hotel alongside and above the restaurant. What you can't beat is the gorgeous view of the ocean from the patio tables, which have heat lamps and side closures for windy or cooler nights. You also have a good vantage point for the sunset, and people watching. read more

We arrived around 6:30-7 and we were starving. This was the closest place open past 8 for dinner so that is where we headed. It was a half good wait to sit inside but could sit immediately outside. We elected to sit outside and the hostess provided us with blankets for our laps and turned the outdoor heater on for us. The service was quick and everyone was hustling. I didn't see a single person idle the entire time we were there. After about 5 minutes the hostess took pity on us and moved us inside. We were seated right under music speakers that were very loud, it we realized they were trying to make us happy so it was a trade off. We each got a lobster roll, clam chowder and a non alcoholic drink and the total came to over $100! The service and location was great, but we were shocked at the price even though the menu did say market price. read more

We tried Stones Throw Saturday for lunch. We were a party of 7 including 3 toddlers. The terrific staff did n't blink. They set us up at a table by the window and took our order quickly and professionally. We all got the New England clam chowder. It was rich, creamy and delicious. The haddock in the haddock taco was crispy and fresh tasting. I could have had a little more flavor, but textures were perfect. The tacos came with fries which were plentiful and phenomenal. There were so many that we felt guilty for the leftovers because we couldn't take them with us because we were staying in hotel rooms. The lobster roll was full of flavorful lobster. Terrible. dont bother. I have been going to long sands for years and I love the area. My boyfriend and I stopped to grab a bite to eat and we're told we could not park at the restaurant. They wanted to hold the spots for hotel guests ... the parking lot was open and we have parked there numerous times in the past. Spent a weekend a York Beach - Long Sands at the end of August and walked by this place and it smelled so incredible that we went back the next night. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. We sat in the back deck, which was private and comfortable with lots of pillows. Our server was attentive and able to describe the different menu items so we could make our decision. To start with, we ordered the Stones Sangria that was supposed to come with wild Maine blueberries and peaches and, when it came out, no peaches at all and a few store bought high-bush blueberries. It tasted ok, but it wasn't what was listed on the menu or what we ordered. I ordered the watermelon & feta salad with grilled shrimp and when it came out, it was small but looked wonderful, however it was really lacking in flavor. It had 4 grilled shrimp for $9 however they were regular sized, not jumbos, and it was supposed to have marinated garbanzo beans, but they were plain and there were a lot of them. It was just bland. My dinner mate had the house salad with grilled chicken and it came out in a big metal bowl that was stuffed with greens, but not much else and a very small container of dressing for such a large amount of greens. The chicken was really spicy, too much, and not enough dressing or other veggies in the salad. Very disappointing. We also got a side of bread and butter which was good, but another really small portion. Overall, the things we ordered didn't match the description and it was pretty expensive. If you put an ingredient on the menu, make sure you have that ingredient and, for the cost, we felt it wasn't worth it. We wouldn't go back again. read more

I bring everyone I know here. We have a tradition every summer to go to Stones Throw for brunch or dinner and then take a walk on the beach after. There's nothing like having a mimosa right across the street from the beach. The view is beautiful, waitstaff is professional and friendly, and I have never had a complaint about the food. Great atmosphere inside too. The presentation of the food is fun and beautiful as well - sometimes too pretty to eat! Oh and the beer/wine selection is fantastic. A must when staying in York (or anywhere nearby). We especially enjoy walking off the beach and having lunch. The cocktails are wonderfully crafted, as well they have a great beer selection on tap(Lunch Maine is a must). We've tried slot on the menu and nothing has disappoint- fish tacos, lobster roll, mussels , halloumi, chick pea, three sea and my favorite beach bim bap. Love this restaurant - great atmosphere, great drinks, great food! The only caveat is that you have to pay for parking at the meter and it's expensive. They do have parking out back, but it's only for the inn guests. They really should let restaurant guests park there. Also have an outdoor patio you can eat/drink on with a great view of Long Sands Beach! read more

Had a girls lunch here. Delicious drinks and food across from an amazing view of the water. We all tried something different and had some drinks. Loved them all especially the "peachy". It was delicious. Definitely stop by and have lunch. read more
