The 2 star review is purely for the deviled eggs appetizer and carrot cake. I got the bone in cowboy steak, and for the price I must say it was very unimpressive. A mound of butter didnt help add any flavor so I removed as it wasn't even warm enough to melt. Unless you like garlic don't get the mushrooms, but if you prefer garlic maybe they would suite your pallet. My wife ordered a medium rare steak and it was medium closer to well done. Again what I would expect from Applebees but for the price of the meal unacceptable. We had a party of 6 adults and 2 elementary age kids and 2 kids that were under 2. We apparently fit the profile of being unable to tip, and were all mandatory of the 18% gratuity as I guess we are counting children now for parties of 8 or more. Too bad for her every single person had worked in the food service industry, and planned on leaving more. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

Last night was our first time dining there and it won't be our last! The food was excellent and the service was superb. Kelly our waitress was so helpful, polite and overall amazing. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the wine choices were exceptional. We didn't even have to ask for refills or to have anything cleared from the table. The wait staff did a great job in making my sister in laws birthday dinner a great night. The decor was very modern, but still in keeping with a little of the rustic style. I had never even heard of the restaurant before last night, but they are a hidden gem and anyone looking for an excellent steak should go here. read more

Enjoyed a meal with the family after traveling. I ordered the lime chicken....plz note it is NOT boneless! I was caught a little off guard by this after it was served and I am not a fan of eating meat right off the bone so I didn't enjoy the meal as I had hoped however our astute server noticed it and I wasn't charged for my meal. All the guys enjoyed their meatloaf, prime rib sandwich and NY strip. You must stop at this restaurant when you are able. We've eaten here in Chicago too and it's always enjoyable! Let's talk! My wife and I took a little adventure, I wanted to eat a really good dinner, so we selected this location. It was a great surprise to us, we were so pleased with the atmosphere, The ambience, and the attentiveness of the staff. Stoney river has a very fancy atmosphere, along with very loud music. We ordered the food and it took about thirty to forty minutes for it to arrive. I was greeted with a filet Minot. I took my first bite and it was a pretty nice steak. But five seconds later I was hit with a very strong after taste. I proceeded to look at the steak and noticed it was aggressively seasoned. After I was finished I got a hot fudge cake, which was actually the highlight of my night. Went to Stoney River for my first time to have dessert only. We were told there was only seating at the bar and were escorted there. The bar seats are divided by plexiglass partitions. The partitions resembled being inside a phone or toll booth or a prison visitor center. Other restaurants handle social distancing in a more subtle, classy manner by limiting and separating the bar stools without having tacky, obtrusive plexiglass partitions. We promptly left the bar and were re-seated at a table with a stained tablecloth that had not been replaced from the prior patrons. It was just too gross and unsafe. We tried to leave through the entrance we came in but the manager and hostess had blocked our egress with a line of chairs purposely set there to direct patrons to an alternative exit. I get the reason for the alternative exit but setting a rampart is not the look for a fine dining restaurant. I'm not wanting to storm the Bastille. We also noticed some very poorly dressed patrons there not in keeping with the place. I will never return. This place lacks atmosphere and is tacky. read more

I don't expect to find wonderful cuisine attached to hotels squeezed between an office park and a shopping mall, but Stoney River delivers (and literally, to the hotel guests as well). An after work dinner was worth writing about. A short wait for a table on a Monday evening was a testament to the quality of the food and service. The hostess and our server were attentive, professional, and tended to our every need. The food was delicious - full-flavored, well prepared, and distinct. I had the French Onion soup, a "signature" dish with steak and biscuits, and shared asparagus and creamed spinach with the table. Even before dinner was served, fresh and warm rolls with seasoned butter were served - I think they had a dash of sugar and cinnamon - a nice touch. The asparagus was perfectly prepared and slightly grilled. The creamed spinach was about as decadent one can get with a green leafy vegetable. And the signature dish...was like fancy sliders with melt-in-your-mouth steak slices served on freshly baked biscuits. Oh, and smothered with seasoned shoe-string fries. I wish I could have tried the carrot cake, but quite frankly, I was stuffed after the soup. Looking forward to going back the next time I'm in town. read more

Celebrated my youngest daughters 18th birthday tonight. Had reservations at 8pm for 6 and were seated at 840. Bartenders were amazing and very professional and attentive. After we were seated the waiter offered us a random appetizer for our wait. A nice gesture and very tasty. From that point on the service spiraled down. Food was amazing, but the service was poor. Even had to go to the bar to pay my bill. This was the second time in a month that we have dined here. We were here on 8/25, for our 30th anniversary and the service was bad. I get that we are all stressed because of this COVID-19 crap, but that does not excuse poor customer service. read more

Excellent service, great ambiance, and great food. But to be honest, for the price, the steaks should be prime IMO but that's just me. I think what helps make a great steak is the caramelization process during the cooking process, however they burnt the outside of some of the steaks and that ruins the steak regardless of temperature. A little disappointed but willing to try this place again. Perhaps you'll have better luck, check it out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

My boyfriend and I are from Kansas City and did a weekend get away for our 5 year anniversary. We choose dinner here because we love j alexanders in KC. Elizabeth was our server and she was knowledgeable of the wines and made excellent suggestions. I had the coffee crusted filet and it was phenomenal, a signature dish for this location. We had a really bad experience here. The food was good, but the service was awful.This was a special occasion night (my son's 24th birthday) and we wanted to go somewhere nice. We had been here before, but won't come back again. We were rushed to order, and couldn't get drinks, to save our lives. I could go into excruciating detail, but I won't. Life is too short. Our server was not very knowledgeable about their menu and drinks. When asked about a particular cocktail, he referred to his mother and that she likes white wine and I should too. He was unable to help my husband pick a wine. There wasn't much flavor to the steaks and they were cooked incorrectly l. The food came out quickly and hot. A staff member Informed me they "closed at 9 pm" when I walked in this evening. Normally this would be a much higher rating but given the fact that they said they were closed when actually they should be open per their published hours leaves me no option. Actually tonight it's published they close at 10 pm not 9 pm and I have dined here many times over the years (including last night with a decent gratuity) both as a local resident and for business once I moved away. ie. I am familiar with their hours and this is not correct. Anyway, I know the young lady is incorrect not only given that I have been here many times I dined here last night and I know the hours. I am not saying I will never eat here again but the likelihood is very slim for me or my colleagues given the attitude, pathetic customer service and the incorrect information. The individual did not appear to be a young hostess but rather a server who should know better. Closing early to satisfy someone despite the posted hours ( on Yelp and Website and at the front desk) is one thing, an incredibly immature attitude from a server is another. I stay at this hotel chain quite often and I would suggest they coordinate their schedules, communication and interpersonal skills if they would like future business from our organization. Pretty damn good. The exterior isn't too much to look at- it's a pretty plain front near the entrance to the Drury Inn. The interior is quite a bit nicer; dim-lit with a bit of a Western theme. Appetizers were great. I'm not a fan of shrimp, but even I enjoyed the Whiskey Shimp, though being covered in cream sauce definitely helped. The Tomato and Mozzarella were excellent with the fried onions. The house salad, on the other hand, was pretty average. I ordered the 10oz filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly medium-rare, and topped with large dollop of garlic butter. The cut was crispy on the outside, nice and red in the center, and very tender and juicy. The au gratin potatoes were smothered with a garlic cream, so they get a huge thumbs-up from me. Desserts (Cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake) and were solid, though not mind-blowing. The service throughout the dinner was very attentive. Overall, highly recommended if you're looking to eat out in the suburbs. read more

This place is AMAZING! The coffee cured filet is the best steak we've ever had. The atmosphere as well as the service are top notch. From the moment we entered the door, the host staff was there greeting us and were all so pleasant. The manager visited our table to make sure everything was good. Loved that. Always a robust dining experience, Stoney River has that whole rustic steak house vibe that makes me want to tear into a big, juicy, rare steak paired with a big bold red wine. Aye....muy sabroso!! While this restaurant is physically attached to a Drury Inn Hotel, they are not affiliated in any way and you do not have to go through the lobby to access the restaurant. My most recent visit here, a "first date" with a new friend, I ordered the Baby Kale Salad to start with and it was just divine. I must say too that Stoney River also has a nice wine list. I was able to find the perfect wine to go with my Trio of Filet Medallions. (An Australian Penfolds Shiraz). The wine with the steak was just perfect. My friend and I both enjoyed the wine so much that she hunted it down at a local wine shop and bought several bottles. While Stoney River Steakhouse is not exactly on par with say a Flemings, it is a nice restaurant. Too, even though it has been years since I hit up an Outback Steakhouse I would certainly not compare my dining experience here to dining at an Outback!! "Put another shrimp on the barbie Mate!". Stoney River lies somewhere between the two.... This restaurant would make a good date destination, especially before heading over to a movie at the AMC Theatre. It has a nice ambiance for a date but also would work for business gathering or a nice family celebration. They also have a pretty good size bar in the middle of the restaurant if you are just looking to throw back a few. If you happen to be staying at the Drury Inn you are in luck because you have a fabulous restaurant right there without having to leave the building. read more
