As a vegetarian, I was a bit on the fence about going to a steak house. Someone else had picked the location. For appetizers we got the spinach dip. It was warm, cheesy and very delicious. For an entree, I got the house salad without bacon and a side. I asked for the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese, but the server indicated that it was made with chicken stock. I thanked her for the info, I was very appreciative for that. I got the baked potato instead. The salad was hearty and large. I honestly could have just gotten this on it's own. I took the baked potato home. It was such a good potato topped with sour cream and cheese! For dessert, we all ordered the carrot cake. What I didn't realize was the size of the carrot cake. Called the restaurant on a Monday night to place a carry out order. I was informed by a very nice young lady named Elizabeth that they only took orders online and not over the phone! This was a complicated and large order and I didn't feel like dealing with it online. I immediately called their competitor 50 yards away Malones steakhouse. I've made about 4 visits to Stoney River over the past 6 months. This restaurant reminds me of my all time favorite restaurant, Houston's. After talking with the bartenders I learned certain aspects of their business model was taken from Houston's. The similarities were quite obvious to me; therefore, made me gravitate to Stoney River as being a wonderful place to relax, dine, and socialize in a very comfortable & inviting atmosphere. Sometimes they offer free mini-rolls with butter (at the bar). The rolls arrive really hot for the butter to easily melt into. Sooooo good. Other times they'll offer an assortment of flavored coated nuts in your own tiny dish - again, soooooo good. I had the Pan-Roasted Cold Water Salmon w/ the Lemon Beurre Blanc sauce. I've ordered this salmon probably three times. The sauce seems to disappear into the salmon, so it's not always visible. You can ask for a side of the sauce to add more if you like. The Loaded Baked Potatoes is huge and comes piled high with all the 'bad for you', but delicious ingredients. Bacon is real and scrumptious. The Crab Cake is OK. I've had better and doubt I'd order again. It was cooked well and the Dijon mustard sauce is good. However, it had a lot of filler. Creme Brûlée was OK. I doubt I'd order again. However, I do see the carrot cake ordered A LOT. I've never tasted it, but I'm guessing it's awesome. On another visit I had the Coffee-Cured Filet Mignon. I'm a coffee-lover and the marinate was good, but nothing I'd crave for future visits. I've sat next to bar customers who said their pork chops, hamburger and house salad were really delicious. More specifically, they said they were "soooo good" with wide eyes. The bartenders are very good at what they do. They effortlessly manage to tend to all the customers in a timely manner at the rather large bar area. And...they remember and acknowledge repeated customers - a very nice touch. At first this place sounds cool Once you sit down it takes 10 minutes for them to ask what to drink and once you do your waiting for 25 minutes until it comes. When it came they messed up my order. then when they gave me the drink that I had ordered it tasted strange. Then we ordered our food and it came 45 minutes later. The food was actually pretty good. My friends and I had our annual Christmas dinner at Stoney River on 12/7 at 5pm. I have to say from the moment we sat down it was like the timer started to get us served and out. It's wonderful when you have an attentive waiter, however we had several different people come by 4 times in an about 10-15 minutes. It made us all feel uncomfortable. Our waiter was Carlos. The food was fine and came out as ordered. What we have a problem with is the service received/not received by our waiter. After dinner they cleared our table, we paid and then we didn't exist anymore. We held our glass up to ask for more water and were ignored by Carlos, stopped another waiter who said he would get it and he didn't. Then raised our glass again and asked Carlos for some water. We were ignored again. We waited for 15 mins. Nothing, so we left. (And please note there were empty tables and booths around us) When you go to Stoney River you expect good food AND good service. Service shouldn't end just because you paid and received your tip. It should end when your customer leaves. Next year we will go somewhere else. People work too hard to go to a nice restaurant to be ignored. read more

Great place if you like steaks and have the money to pay for it. The server and other staff members were incredibly friendly and very helpful. The interior is somewhat dark but very clean and modern. Based on that I am assuming the restrooms are very clean as well unless the small chance that someone had an accident while in there. The Steak Rolls are definitely something worth getting as an appetizer. The Legendary Filet was very good overall with a strong flavor that stood out. For a restaurant so pricey with their food they interestingly did not have to-go cups, so if you want a to-go drink prepare to be disappointed or clinically depressed in severe cases. I have been to Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill approximately two to three times. My most recent experience was disappointing. Our party of six had a reservation for 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday evening, and we were seated within five minutes of our reservation time. Although I arrived 5 to 10 minutes early, they would not seat me until the majority of our party had arrived. To start, our server, William, was absolutely wonderful. He was new to the establishment, but he was attentive, friendly, and patient. The rest of our service was lacking, however. The three men in our group ordered bourbon. The first three bourbons they requested were not available, and this resulted in the delay of drinks being ordered as our waiter had to ensure bourbons requested were available. Once the bourbon was ordered, it did not arrive for approximately 30 minutes, and my father had to go to the bar and demand the drinks be served. My mother and I ordered Sweet Summertime Memories, and we both felt it was lacking. It tasted like old tea mixed with vodka, and the flavor was lacking. Their Lemon Drop Mojito is absolutely delicious, however, and I would order that again. Regarding our food, my mother's steak was cooked incorrectly, and my father's steak was not butterflied as requested. When you are paying decent prices for a steak meal, you hope to have it prepared and cooked correctly. I ordered the Famous Steak and Biscuits, and I was pleased as usual! I do wish their Parmesan fries were prepared with more grease. They seem dry to me, and I think they could be more flavorful. I will end with our experience with the carrot cake: It is absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party enjoys it thoroughly, and this alone is worth the trip to try. While I enjoy the food at Stoney River, I likely will only return if at the request of another party. The challenges with food items is not worth the hassle for me. read more

I love this place and it it needed a review even thought it's well established. They recently changed the menu, and I'm sad to see the Brussel sprouts gone, but I do like the changes! We tried the new hot chicken biscuits appetizer and YUMMY! Not for the faint of heart if you can't handle the heat. I chugged a full glass of water after one but it was worth the burn! My favorite new feature is the permanent placement of au poivre on the menu. I have always asked for it, but before now it was only available on days it was the special. So let's start this off right! I made a reservation for 8:30pm! We were not seated until 8:50. What's the point of a reservation?! But let's keep it moving... We started off with a house salad and complimentary bread. TO DIE FOR!!! If this is indication of what is to come I'm beyond excited ! The salad was fresh and beautifully plated! The rolls have a sweetness to them and came out hot, I could have a bag to go really! Now go the main courses! My wife ordered the pork chop with green beans and garlic whipped mashed potatoes. I ordered the trio of filet medallions, also with garlic whipped potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned!! The potatoes and broccoli were as well! Highly satisfied! The pork chop was seasoned to perfection and very tender! I could have used a butter knife to cut it!! Overall... we will be back!!!! For Valentine's Day this year, I decided to my Valentine to this steak house just to try a spot we've never been to before. I made a reservation through Google, and I was happy that their service kept me updated on the reservation so I wouldn't forget. After being greeted and checking in, we waited a bit for an open table. Although we had reservations, the restaurant was understandably super packed due to the day.The ambience made you feel like you were somewhat in a chic grotto with low lighting, which made for a very intimate setting. After being seated, we were quickly greeted by a server, who took our drink orders and wrote something on our placard before heading off. The drinks came back soon, but our server changed. Apparently, they have an awesome system where any server greets the table and gets drink orders so the clients are not waiting long when the real server is with other guests. The placement of the placard let's the server know what has been done. I'm a big fan of this! After getting drinks, we quickly ordered salads and entrées. My steak came out perfectly. It was seared just right, and the house steak seasoning was savory and flavorful. I never get steak toppings unless the steak itself just isn't that good, but this one was excellent. The temperature was spot on, and they even placed a pat of herb butter on top for a finessed look. The loaded baked potato that accompanied it was huge, and had all the right toppings, such as butter, sour cream, and cheese. I could only eat half of my meal and had the rest boxed up, which the server gladly did so. Pro tip: if you want all of your remaining food, let them know before your plate is taken away. My box only contained my steak, and even though it was great for breakfast, I still wish my baked potato had made it. Overall, I would return for another date night. read more

Down to their approach, which is critical to setting the stage for a wonderful experience! We had Jeremiah and Caitlyn as servers, a tag team par excellence! The interior design of the building is perfectly appointed, in conjunction with museum quality lighting, combines to surround the dinner experience with a sense of being lost in another realm! We began with a crabcake garnished with bell pepper, tomato, and mango, drizzled in a light sauce! The cowboy -cut ribeye steak was the tops for quality and elevated above perfection with subtle spicing skills only achieved by the best chefs on earth! I have a strange love affair with Redland Grill so finding out that Stony River was affiliated sparked my interest. The food was really good. We started with the spinach dip which was more spinach than cheese which is what I like. My hubby had the lobster bisque and it wasn't too shabby. Likely I wouldn't order it again but it was fair. The ribeye I had was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The button mushrooms were good as well. Now for those that are COVID conscious, this is not the place. People were everywhere and there wasn't an empty table in the house. They had actual laminated menus which I haven't seen since the pandemic started. It felt very "February 2020". Stoney River is usually one of my faves, but this experience was less than par. We made a reservation for 7pm and arrived about 15 mins early. Once we checked in with the host we noticed the waiting area was rather full and there was definitely no social distancing going on. While we waited we also noticed that the restaurant was definitely not functioning at 50% capacity but it seemed more like 100% capacity. Once we finally got seated about 15 minutes after our reservation I noticed there were plastic dividers in between the booths. We had a server come over and offer water. We waited about 10 minutes when another server came over and took our wine order, they ended up being out of the first two bottles we tried to order but had the 3rd. This of course took time and I'd say it took us a good 20 plus minutes to get our appetizer order in and get our bottle of wine. Through out our dining experience we noticed 4 guests who walked from their table (some half way across the restaurant) to the bathroom without a mask on and no one was ever approached and told they needed to wear their mask. Our server was very nice and pleasant but the service was very slow. Once we got our food, we had no silverware to eat it because the busier cleared the table before the food was dropped off and we probably sat there for 5 minutes before our server came back over. I got the special which was 2 Filet Medallions and a crab cake with potato au gratin. Minus the au gratin being bland and slightly cold the food was very good. Once we were done it then took us over 25 mins to get our check however we later found out their micros system went down which caused a delay in printing checks and taking payments. I will definitely still go back in the future but wanted people to be aware that are more Covid conscious this might not be the spot for them. read more

February 14 2 PM We just had the most lovely experience, our server was Seci. She was rockstar amazing quality. I do love the concept of this restaurant, as everything is team based. We arrived early and we had very little wait to be seated. We were first attended to by a young assistant who got our drink orders. The server came afterwards and she was amazing. She was able to suggest good wines and favorite items on the menu, and she brought these fantastically fresh poppyseed muffins/rolls. We didn't order any appetizers, I did order a salad (just their house salad which was all made in house with homemade ranch dressing -they make all of their dressings in house), and I will say hands-down that is the single best house salad I've ever had. Everything was properly chiffoned. The croutons were handmade and they were of the quality that they were like buttery and crisp. They fell apart so they weren't too hard to bite into, and they had chunks of bacon that was very well smoked and seasoned. They had some sort of seasoning on the salad too that was just amazing. That salad could've been a meal in itself! I ordered the cold water Norwegian salmon with lemon beurre blanc and garlic smashed potatoes and broccoli. My husband ordered the bone in ribeye with the Parmesan fries. Our server also recommended a good wine, I had the Merlot from Wente. I had reasonable time between servings from where we had our little muffins to my salad and then time for the food to come out. The salmon was the best salmon I've ever had in my life I have never tasted a better salmon. I am beyond impressed with the meal that I've had. My husband's ribeye was absolutely delicious perfectly cooked, and his Parmesan fries were wonderfully crispy.The total cost for the overall meal was about $114 before tip and it was worth every penny. We've actually paid more at what would be considered finer restaurants for far less quality than what we had here today. Our server was able to observe from a distance and wasn't overbearing, she stayed on top of the drinks which is absolutely amazing. They do have a dessert menu that you have to ask for (because it's not part of the menu they bring out), they have what they consider the chef selection as well as a carrot cake that my server insisted we have to try next time we come in. They had a crème brûlée which is what we ordered and they had a chocolate trifle cake. The crème brûlée was out of this world, very very creamy with strawberry and blueberry accents and crust was thick enough that you had to tap it and break it -classically made- it was such a perfect combination against the custard. The only cons that I even have for this review is that some hostess staff do not have the maturity level necessary to take a concern and address it with management so that they can prevent someone from becoming hurt by something on the property. Before we left one of the managers came over to ask us how things were and we gushed about how wonderful the food was and how great our service was but we also got to show him the concern with a chair that really needs to be repaired, it was not safe.
