Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever being overbearing. We had such a wonderful experience at Stoney River Steakhouse! After a completely botched reservation at another restaurant, we decided to drop in here on a busy Saturday night. Even though sitting at the bar wasn't our first choice, we were grateful to be seated immediately--with zero wait! The service was fantastic from start to finish. Nick and I began by sharing the house salad with vinaigrette, and it was easily enough for two. I ordered the Bistro Chicken entrée, which came with two perfectly cooked pieces of chicken, lots of steamed broccoli, and whipped potatoes. Everything was incredible--and I especially appreciated the capers! Nick ordered the redfish and shrimp special, served with rice and green beans, and he absolutely loved it. I want to be super clear. I actually give the benefit to restaurants, because I can appreciate how hard they are to staff, and the exploding food costs. In addition to that, I was with customers, so I expensed this particular meal. Meaning, I don't take it personally about "value or price". Also, even with subpar/okay service, I still tipped 20%. That said, this place missed the mark across the board. Customers ordered New York Strips and Ribeyes. None of our meals, were delivered to the right person. Meaning, we all had to swap plates across the table. It was just odd/not very polished at this price point, The three of their steaks were cooked okay, but seemed to be pretty fatty cuts of meat. Then to my prime rib. I've never had, or seen a fattier cut of meat. I'm not exaggerating when I say 75-85% fat. In addition, once meals arrived, customer asked for wine list. Then selected a glass of wine with dinner. Wine never showed up. Here is where it gets interesting. There was so much fat on the plate, it looked like I barely ate. (How that awful piece made it out of the kitchen, blows my mind). Again, I didn't say anything, as I was with customers. The Manager comes by the table, and asks "how was everything". I didn't say anything, but my customer says "look at that guys plate, and how fatty that cut of meat was. Manager says something to the effect of "is there anything I can do" and again, because I have customers there, say "no, you can just take my plate". Which looked like the entire piece of prime rib was still sitting there, but it was all fat. We order some deserts to go and I get the check. The Manager could have stepped up and covered a drink, or a dessert, but instead, saw the train wreck of the Wal Mart/Texas Road House quality prime rib as he took my plate away, and chose to do nothing. Granted, I said I was fine, but he clearly saw the poor quality that came out of the kitchen firsthand, and could have made it right: I'd expect that behavior/lack of customer service at a fast food joint. I entertain my customers on a regular basis, and this price point is on pare with other steak houses in town, that deliver a MUCH better service and food quality experience. Service, would have drastically helped cover some of the feedback in the terrible quality of product served. Big miss from the wait staff, right up to the Manager. Do better read more

Steak was done perfect and the drinks were strong and tasty. I didn't care for the Brussels too much, but the steak egg rolls are wonderful. The carrot cake was the star of the show! It was huge and delicious, I just wish it wasn't put on its side, instead of upright, it would have been a better presentation. Anyhow, it was great! The service was a bit slow, and they forgot my food -- but management tried to make it right. I came here for a large party to celebrate a milestone event and was disappointed that not only was the food for several members of the table missing, but also that the food that had arrived was of poor quality. The cook on my steak was perfect, but the temperature was supposedly for a freshly fired steak, which was not as hot as expected. I suspect this was due to the appetizer that was offered while i waited and the two dishes came out at the the same time so they held the steak. The flavor was the baked potato, truly a one-pound side (well worth the money), and the broccoli, again left off my re-fired dish when it arrived, was actually good. I was perplexed that I had to request a spirits menu from the bar, but was informed that I needed to ask my server, and they would get me a menu. I was impressed with the selection. The saving grace of the evening was the engagement of the server and the management team. They recognized an issue and did everything in their power to rectify the problems. Must have been an off night at Stoney River. I brought some friends from out of town and was excited to show them a good spot. The drinks started out great - old fashioneds and a passion fruit mojito were both excellent. From there, things went downhill. I asked for a passion fruit margarita and waited about ten minutes before being told the bar couldn't make it. No alternatives offered, just "sorry, we can't." Kinda weird. The crab cakes were tasty. I had the prime rib with a loaded baked potato - everything had good flavor but was cold. The butter and cheese weren't melted, and the au jus was cold enough that the fat turned solid. My friends liked their meals, but we didn't get silverware for about five or six minutes and had to ask twice for steak knives. Service felt scattered. The manager was carrying plates, wrong food was being delivered to nearby tables, and no one ever checked on us. I looked for the manager a few times, but he seemed tied up in the back of the house. We would've gladly ordered more drinks if anyone had come by. The food itself was fine, but the experience didn't match the price. We also got their Mac n cheese which is also one of my favorite steakhouse side dishes in Nashville. It's oozing with cheese and so tasty. You can't go wrong with Parmesan truffle fries. Honestly, very presently surprised. We are use to paying the premium and going to one off fine dining steak houses rather than the chain approach. The food was prepared very nicely...we had the calamari, spinach and artichoke dip, lobster bisque, French onion soup, cowboy cut ribeye, prime Rib, key lime pie, and carrot cake. Everything not only tasted great but was cooked to temperature. I was blown away how this could be a chain. Our server was informed, knowledgeable, as well quick and very attentive. As for the ambiance it was low lighting and very well separated which allowed us to enjoy our time. It was a very nice intimate setting for a private dinner. We will be going back, I was not expecting this level of service food or setting at all from a chain restaurant. The fresh bread they bring out is really for dessert (trust me save at least some for dessert because they are SO good and sweet and just so yummy). They are like a fried dough with poppyseed served with like a honey butter. Delicious. Appetizer you really have to get the eggs, the eggs are killer. Sugar cured bacon on the deviled eggs are more of a dry filling so it stays put and it's delicious. I ordered the ribeye 14oz med rare with potatoes au gratin and my mom ordered the special, prime rib med rare with the veg of the day which was roasted brussel sprouts. Went to try out Stoney River on a business trip after a long day of banking seminars. We liked the menu and it was one of the nicer steakhouse venues for dinner. They have a nice bourbon list and I had 2 fingers of 4 Roses. The wine list looked like you could drop some coin and have a very nice bottle or glass to match the occasion. The vibe is upscale with dimmed lights to assist with relaxation. Our server was prompt and courteous and the pregame bread was a nice touch. The steaks stood out as their specialty and several in my party opted for the ribeye and a unique steak biscuit offering. I wanted to try out the wedge and it was a meal in itself. She liked it more... She's more of a coffee person than I am. I had the Ribeye and a side of the Au Gratin Potatoes. The Au Gratin Potatoes were excellent I thought. You don't see them many places so it's always nice when I do. The Ribeye had a few issues. The first half of the Ribeye was excellent. Great flavor. The second half of the Ribeye was really chewy, fatty, and tough. Sometimes you just get a bad cut and that's what I think happened here. Overall I think this is a great place for the price. My Friend Kim and her Husband Mike assured me that this place had the best steak that was seasoned to perfection(She knows me well). My Husband is the steak connoisseur. I can take it or leave it. Our server was very energetic and knowledgeable with lots of Southern Hospitality. We placed our orders and she brought bread to the table. Now you know I have a love-hate relationship with carbs- I love them but my hips don't. I have to tell the truth. They had the most amazing yeast rolls. There had to have been somebody's Grandmother in the back making them from scratch. They were melt in your mouth delicious with the most amazing butter. Right then I knew I was going down a slippery slope but I digress. We ordered spinach dip and deviled eggs as starters for all of us to share. They were both amazing as well(Yep. I probably have said amazing too many times). I stepped out on faith and ordered a wedge salad and the bone in cowboy cut rib eye steak with garlic whipped mashed potatoes. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all but I wanted to taste it. Clearly my eyes were bigger then my stomach. Let me tell you something about me and a wedge salad. I have not met one yet that I don't like. It's the bacon and dressing for me. Normally you get one wedge. Not in Nashville-you get two. I ate one and waited for the rest of my meal. They say things are bigger in Texas. Add Tennessee to the list. The rib eye was huge and delicious. It was seasoned to the gods and the whipped potatoes were smooth and fantabulous. I did not pace myself so I could only eat a little of the steak and a little of the mashed potatoes. I boxed up the wedge and the steak and potatoes and took them home. I had enough food for breakfast and lunch the next day and it tasted even better. My Husband said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had and he does not say that easily. Listen. The first thing I am going to do when I get back to Nashville is visit Stoney River. Awesome food, service ans ambiance. You will not be disappointed. We were kept waiting for a table for 12 minutes. We finally got seated and 10 minutes later a waitress - not our waitress - saw we were being ignored and took drink orders. Our waitress delivered my beverage ... just sat it on the table with no words and walked away. Our waitress finally decided to visit our table after another five minutes and we sent my drink back because the glass was visibly dirty with stuff on the outside. We proceeded to approach the hostess counter where we were told to hold on because the phone started to ring upon us stating we had reservations. We stood and waited for her to take the call, but then a second phone rang and she answered which required us to wait longer in order to be helped. So we waited for her to finish that phone call as well. Not sure if this is proper etiquette when you have guests directly in front of you, but it seemed a bit odd. Then again I don't work in the food industry and not sure proper procedure in instances such as this. The atmosphere here is always great. The lightning within gives off a real vibe. A vibe you'd enjoy. Not many people were dining in on Sunday around 3:45ish , so we didn't have to wait. Other than waiting on her to finish the phone calls. Which I'm sure making reservations helped with that, but just walking in you would've been able to be seated as well without a wait during this time. Our server, Elizabeth, was AMAZING. If you go; request her. She's phenomenal. She suggested numerous dishes while giving her honest opinion on dishes she liked or disliked. Along with being truthful she disclosed the dishes she hasn't tried. In some restaurants I've visited I have have had several servers tell you something is good just to either rush the ordering process or give you a false hope. Mac and cheese: was rather dry in a sense as if the something "broke" (cooking term I learned from master chef when describing the separation of ingredients when being cooked). Usually the Mac and cheese is really good, but not on this day. Creamed spinach: really good! Prime rib: was cooked medium rare and very flavorful. The au jus lacked seasoning. Very bland. Steak rolls: were just ok! They weren't as great as they've been in the past. They lacked flavoring and tasted more like cheesy beef. I would still go and order them just because usually they are really good. Coffee cured: pretty good and cooked to my liking (medium), but it wasn't good enough for me to order again on my next visit. read more

Came here after spending the afternoon at the Johnny Cash Museum on Broadway. Had heard great things about this place from our neighbors and THIS PLACE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! Ambiance: Very welcoming and warmly greeted by the hostesses. We waited about 15min but we also arrived 15min early and sat outside (which was nice minus the noisy traffic). Sat us down on a nice booth not too close to anyone else to provide an intimate experience. Service: Our waitress was polite, prompt and had our drinks to us in just a few minutes after we ordered. We also asked for recommendations and were very pleased with her suggestions. She checked on us regularly and made sure everything was to our liking but did not inform nor bug us every few min. Food: Top notch, my wife had the sirloin with a side of fried and the smoked Gouda Mac n cheese (which was absolutely the best Mac N Cheese she's ever had. Her steak was perfectly cooked and was tender and juicy with no issues at all. I ordered the blue cheese crusted filet (which didn't get the blue cheese crust when it arrived) but that did not matter - this was by far the best steak I have ever had. It was perfectly cool red in the center and was also juicy and melted in my mouth. I have the garlic mashed and they weee also creamy with no chunks and seasoned perfectly as well. Price: What you would expect for a good steak house - $110+ but we did have an extra side and 2 drinks - so we'll worth the price paid.
