Upscale steak house with great service in a classy restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was subpar. Salmon dried out and steak was chewy with no taste. Sides and desserts were great. Worth it? I think not.

The Gaylord Opryland Hotel is incredible! When staying there you should go visit the Opry Hickory steakhouse. This upscale dining experience was exceptional from start to finish. The lobster tail was perfection -- tender, buttery, and cooked flawlessly. The steak was prepared exactly right and melted in every bite. To finish the meal, the creme Brulé had a rich coffee flavoring that made it stand out from the traditional. Smooth, flavorful, and the perfect ending to an incredible meal. The atmosphere, presentation, and attention to detail truly made this restaurant feel like a luxury dining experience worth every penny.

Wonderful large space for group dinners. We had a snafu in reservations but the staff was very accommodating. Everything was delicious! Best Mac n Cheese I've ever had. The salads were great. Tomahawk could've been more moist.

The boasted best restaurant in Opryland. Ambiance was great in the bar and library waiting area. It wasn't too cold despite it being winter. Had romantic soft lighting...but also hard to see how well your steak is cooked. I usually order mine medium well and it was undercooked as a rare medium to medium. My expectations are probably too high...but from a prestigious steak house where I pay 80-100$ per steak I expect impeccable service and cook. There weren't very many servers, ours didn't come by for a while so I couldn't send the steak back. In fact, I had to walk back to the bar to get my own cocktail after I set my empty glass at the side of the table for over 15 mins. Our server informed me when I got back that he could have gotten me a drink...yeah, I know...but you never came by... We went all out and got Brussels, macaroni and cheese, and mushrooms for sides. The best part of the meal was the Brussels. Husband got the Wagyu steak and I don't think it was worth the 100$ price tag. We've had wagyu steak at korean bbq that were better quality. Overall...I wouldn't dine here again for the price and service. Have had better steak at cheaper places. Honestly...by the end of the meal I was so disappointed I just wanted to leave. Packed our steaks to go but they didn't really taste any better the next day...aged old ribeye was the correct description at least.

Despite a reservation, we were seated in a corner. Food is okay, ambience is nice given the setting of the hotel. The servers are very nice & professional

brought my boyfriend here for his birthday he's from Honduras and has never been to a fine dining restaurant. Our Server Wayne was amazing, very interactive and friendly. The starters were very good the pork belly and sourdough both were incredible. the sides were good as well and the steak was okay it could have been better. Overall was a positive experience

My husband and I arrived a smidge early to our reservation so we found a seat at the bar. We both enjoyed a very nice glass of wine while we waited for our table time. Once we were seated, we started our meal with the Pork Belly appetizer. These are served with a mouthwatering maple bourbon sauce. It's the perfect accompaniment to the salty pork belly! My husband had the steak and mashed potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and absolutely divine. The potatoes were silky and well seasoned. I had the crab cakes. They were amazing. No shell found in either and a generous serving! The corn succotash was a brilliant addition. I absolutely loved these. It was the perfect romantic date night to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early. While I wouldn't take our children with us, it was most definitely a nice evening out. Given the overall pricing of restaurants at the Gaylord, Old Hickory is well worth the pricing on the menu. Our server was also impeccable!

I booked this steakhouse for A's actual birthday dinner. We had tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and this was a good place to eat as it was near the venue. When I booked it, I didn't fully realize it was in the Gaylord Opry Resort. And when we realized it was in the resort, we didn't think the resort was massive. You could book a trip to Nashville and stay at the Opry Resort Land and never leave. It has everything you want: restaurants, shops, arcades, pools, entertainment. When we walked in, we were amazed by how large it was and it like an indoor garden basically, with a waterfall and koi pond. It was like a Japanese garden. Really gorgeous. The restaurant itself was inside more and we almost got lost trying to find it. We eventually found it and we were a few minutes late but it was ok. We had an early dinner reservation so it wasn't too crowded yet. Our waiter was super nice and welcoming. I also forgot his name (Paul, or Bob, or Richard, but he was from Boston, that I do remember). We chose not to eat too much because we had eaten our weight in food the night before. So we didn't get any appetizers. We went straight to entrees. I got the lamb rack and A got the NY Strip (I think). I haven't had rack of lamb before so it was a real experience. I always see it on MasterChef so I wanted to finally try it. It was a little hard to eat because there was a lot of knife work involved but it was cooked perfectly. It had to perfect pink center, seasoned well. A really liked his NY Strip. It's also something he doesn't eat often so he inhaled his. Dessert, we got chocolate cake that was decadent AF. It was this rich chocolate cake that was a bit much for me but we finished it and it was glorious. The overall experience was excellent and if you have a chance to get out to the resort, try this restaurant. It's pricey, but worth it.

We were so let down by this place. We stayed at the Gaylord and after a full day of activities didn't want to leave the hotel for a romantic date night. We searched the app and found the Old Hickory Steakhouse marked as a wonderful rated place with multiple dollar signs. Yolo, right? We came in without reservations and were told it was first come first serve in the bar area. The tables all have a reserve sign which the waiter says if you are ordering food you could sit out. So we settled in for a special treat. The menu is very limited with appetizers, steaks and sides all ala cart style. We ordered a Cesar salad, Ribeye, and bake potato. We also ordered drinks which were o-k but not the bee's knees. I asked for a egg white vodka or whiskey based drink bartenders/waiters choice and was give a margarita with tequila... Our salad was presented nicely but overly sour to the taste. There was no bread or sides provided from restaurant while you waited. We then got our Steak, under done and mostly it was all bone and FAT. Was such a disappointment. I remember conversing with my date that steaks from wal-mart with salt and pepper were better then this 75 dollar steak they just served us. The only thing that seemed edible was the meat near the bone and since I was starving, I was chewing on the bone to try to get some iron out of it. Our bake potato was a joke. The skin was inedible. If you are paying that much for a baked potato you would think it would be soft and fluffy inside, already scooped out and loaded mix back in. You'd assume the skin would be seasoned with olive oil and baked light and crispy so people could actually eat it. Needless to say, I would not recommend this steakhouse to anyone. The prices are out of this world for the value *(if any) that you would receive here. We ended up going to other place after this for food and desert. What a waste of money.

    Welcome to Old Hickory Steakhouse

We came to Old Hickory for our last night stay at the Gaylord. I am glad we did. This steakhouse did fantastic job from beginning to end. Just a short walk from our room, we arrived a little early and waited for just a few minutes until we were seated right on time of our reservations. It was unfortunate that the hotel had an outside event going on with lots of loud and boomy music. Outside of that, the experience was PEFECT. We were greeted in seconds by our waiters helper and given water and incredibly delicious selection of rolls and flatbread. The waiter came by next and greeted us and proudly (yes proudly) explained the menu. Everything sounded so good. My wife and I new we were sharing the steak so we went with the Prime Porterhouse. We started with the Onion Soup and I had the Lobster Bisque. (FYI.... THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD.) My wife loved the beefy-brothy hearty Onion Soup. Main meal of the Prime Porterhouse was outstanding! Perfectly cooked, tasty and juicy. Was there any fat on this at all? It was good, I mean really really good. We also loved the string bean almondine, and the potato wedges were excellent. The large Porterhouse was perfect to share. I am sorry that we did not save any room for dessert. They did look great. I really recommend this restaurant. The overall atmosphere, service, food, enthusiasm in the air was delightful to experience. Thank you to our wonderful servers and staff here that helped make this a wonderful evening.

The food quality was improved over our visit two years ago. Peter our server was quick kind and full of wonderful anecdotes. The setting of course is absolutely stunning. Will visit here again!

I've always been a little hesitant with resort steakhouses, but Old Hickory put those to shame. We had an early reservation at the end of our conference in the resort... unfortunately the last session ended an hour after the original posted end time. Needless to say one of my fellow attendees waited at our table for that entire time until the rest of us could show up. Tony took absolute care of all of us despite our tardiness. He wasn't in a rush which put us at ease. All of us started with a light cocktail before digging into passed appetizers. He is a great wine som! We all selected beef for our main entrees and got us to buy the liter of a really AMAZING red wine. It says something if I, not a huge fan of drinking red wine, can drink a few glasses of this and enjoy it. Our fave shared side dish was the crab Mac n cheese and we all loved our beef entrees (one with marrow butter, regret not ordering that myself for mine). Tony got us the biggest slice of chocolate cake to enjoy with the wine because he liked us so much. It was the cherry on top of all the meals we ate during our Nashville conference.

We tried a variety of dishes since we were told that the set up is family style: Hamachi Crudo: 10/10 one of the best I've ever had! Super fresh and the sauce paired well with it. Bluefin Tune Crudo: 8/10 It was really fresh and well prepared, but I've had better elsewhere. I typically prefer bluefin tuna sashimi or nigiri anyway. Tuna Crispy Rice: 9/10 This was such a fun and delicious way to eat spicy tuna! All of the seasonings made it packed full of flavor. Tomahawk Ribeye 9/10: This was insanely tender, and well seasoned. Tip: ask for lemon wedges to sprinkle some lemon juice on it--thank me later. Broccolini 8/10: well prepared, and I loved the lemongrass garlic chili that topped it East Side Shrimp 7/10: These were well cooked and well seasoned. Loved the salad placed underneath it. Wagyu Tartare 8/10: It was well prepared and loved that it's paired with nori and rice. Wished it had a bit more punch to it in terms of seasoning. Crab Fried Rice 8/10: this was delicious but still say it's a solid 8. Beautifully prepared! Korean Hot Wings 2.5/10: I could tell that it was well cooked, but it was insanely salty; it was practically inedible. Hurricane Fries 9/10: These were so delicious! You are immediately hit with the smell of truffle, which made my mouth water. Packed with flavor! Brussels 7/10: These were well roasted, but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. A bit mild for the serious hot chicken fans, but the flavor is there. The chicken tenders are fairly standard. And the crinkle fries are mid. I enjoyed both of the drinks. At $14.50, they are at least $1.50 less than the standard Broadway cocktails in the star bars, so iti s a less expensive option to get a drink. I don't think they ever have live music, unlike some others here, so you are going for the food, not the noise. Service was great, as always. The staff is always prompt and knows their menu. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

Coming in by myself on a weeknight, while in town for business, I sat at the bar and the staff at the bar took great care of me. The piano man on top of the bar was playing great music. The venue is nicely, eclectically decorated too! I started with a Kettle One up with a Twist and it was great... Some of their shrimp cocktail to go with it was a great pairing! The shrimp was huge and prepared perfectly! The cocktail sauce was very nice, but I like extra horseradish, which they happily provided. Next up was their Prime Skirt Steak and the sides I chose was their creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to a perfect temperature and the chimichurri was so very tasty with it! The mashed potatoes were nice. The creamed spinach looked beautiful and the texture was spot-on, but it had slightly too much nutmeg in it - Still, I enjoyed it. I wanted to save room for dessert though because I was yearning for their Butter Pie, which I ordered eventually. The butter pie definitely didn't disappoint! I enjoyed my experience and will continue to seek out and enjoy Jeff Ruby joints when I travel!

This steak house is an over-the-top spot that I can only give five stars, which is disappointing as they deserve 10+. From the second we walked in until the we walked out, we felt the amazing experience of being at Jeff Ruby's. We waited for just a few minutes and then brought to our seat. This place was elegant-rustic with a positive vibe of energy throughout. Kayla, our waitress and sommelier was at our table within seconds to greet us, bring water and menus. You could just feel the professionalism in the air. My wife and I had reviewed the menu in advance of our visit so we knew exactly what we were having. Our experience: Appetizers: We shared a Wedge salad (mine with delicious blue cheese dressing and crumbles. Goshiki Roll: Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Cucumber, Avocado, Grated Wasabi Entrees: 8oz Filet Mignon Blackened Chilean Sea Bass: Bok Choy, Citrus Beurre Blanc, Trout Roe Sides: Baked Potato Asparagus Desserts: Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie: Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream, Brown Butter, Maldon Sea Salt Everything we ate was AMAZING! Sushi - delicious - Steak delicious - Fish - Delicious. I could not recommend this food enough. Dining should always be an experience and at Jeff Ruby's it was. This venue should be a "must visit" for anyone who considers themself a fine diner. Jeff Ruby's does this with a passion for perfection. Without a doubt, JR is one of the finest restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to dine at. The staff here is as professional as a staff can get. They just can't do enough for the guests. Our server KayIa was amazing!!! She is a model of what the perfect restaurant professional should be. We will be back to the Louisville location soon and we're really excited. KUDOs to the Team at Jeff Ruby's.

How do you search for:…read more A funky good time where I can listen to Jazz, drink a few libations and have a good steak? Skull's Rainbow Room checks all the boxes. Nashville is a music town, throw a rock and you'll find a great spot at a bar playing music. Some of the bars have a stage where bands are jammin'! I'm looking for something different, something more contemporary, live jazz and a speakeasy feel. Skull's Rainbow Room delivered. Walking up to Printer's Alley, it's already giving off speakeasy vibes. I did my classic move, Get to the restaurant early and tell the waitress I'm so hungry and promise I won't be here all night. Man... I was set up with a great table and was told I have less than two hours. (I mean, I am Bill S from New York, I can be quite persuasive) My waiter comes over, we start talking about the east coast, how he misses New Jersey but loves his new home in Nashville. I order a martini and thick Prime Rib cut along with a side of truffle mashed potatoes. My drink comes out quickly and now I am in the jazz zone. These guys rocked it! Great music along with strong cocktails, I laugh and say to myself: I'm getting paid to be here! My steak comes to the table very quickly. Man this steak cut is a thing of beauty. The au jus with a bite of the truffle mashed potato, heaven. Now the piano player start playing The Love Theme from The Godfather?? Am I in heaven or.. are they trying to seduce me to the other side as I order another cocktail? Just a fantastic night, from the music to the food and libations at Skull's Rainbow Room. My waiter says, it's been two hours, would you like your drink brought to the bar? I declined as I paid my check. Skull's Rainbow Room is a must stop when in Nashville. You can check out any time you want.. but you can never leave!

We had a larger (10) group celebrating two birthdays and the staff handled things without breaking a sweat. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation but it was no bother as our table was still being prepared. On that note: highly recommend a reservation, this is a popular place! Once we were seated we had the pleasure of Nichelle, a wonderful waitress. She was on top of everything we needed or wanted and we had very little wait time for her return. Great service! And the food... DELICIOUS! As you can imagine, our group of ten had a good selection across the menu and there was not a single person who was disappointed. Everyone loved their amazing food. What tops everything off is the atmosphere here. It's popular so, as you can imagine, it's a bit noisy. However, I like to call it "lively". And they really nailed the physical design, so inviting and upscale. I'll stop there and simply say: check this place out, it's great!

She even went out of her way to get me a drink that had fallen off the menu a few weeks prior, a delightful cucumber spritz. The ambiance is awesome. As others have said, music isn't too loud, just pleasant in the background, so it would be ideal for having a conversation. The space is open, bright, light-filled, and stylish. Parking is in a private lot behind the restaurant and they validate parking for up to two and a half hours. I wish I could rave the same way about the food. While the cocktails were refreshing and they had a cocktail for every palate, my steak and eggs was bland. It came out a little closer to rare than medium, but I can live with that. But I am not sure I detected a speck of salt or pepper. The steak was at least tender and the sunny side up eggs were cooked appropriately. The potatoes were dry. And I did have the wagyu meatball appetizer. It's a large portion, so easily shared amongst two or three people. Cheesy and saucy with a little spice. The focaccia could've been toasted a little more. I considered the short rib hash, but my server told me it could be salty and hit or miss (I appreciate her honesty and she 100 percent should be praised for it). I came during brunch (even on a weekday). They also serve French toast, desserts, oysters, burrata, potstickers and tuna tartare, salads, burgers and other sandwiches. If you come for lunch or dinner, you can also get grilled salmon, blackened redfish, shrimp and grits, pastas (cajun chicken, pappardelle bolognese, tortellini) as well as various cuts of steak. It's conveniently located right across from the Frist Museum and is part of the Union Station Hotel. I would try this place again for dinner, but would skip the brunch. And again, Savanna was top tier! She deserves all the flowers!
