Great experience at Stowaway! Love the new renovations and we even got a peek into the new Belly of the Beast speakeasy hidden within the Stowaway. We decided to try the stowaway burger and some newer drinks . Unfortunately they were sold out of the rye specialty drinks ( darn because they looked delicious) I ordered the The ghost of the chunky monkey and loved it . I've never been a rum old fashioned drinker but this could change my mind. Cutely decorated with little ghost sprinkles it screams banana and vanilla with just a hint of macadamia nut . Hubbie ordered the Rum runner and it was a delicious mix of blackberry forward fruit juices and delicious rum . Burger was good and the fry sauce was delicious . Special shout out to our wonderful waitress for the recommendations and special tour of BOTB before its 5 o'clock opening . This is such a cool tiki bar. The interior design is amazing. There is so much to look at while you're enjoying food and drinks here. There are even billiards if you want to do more than just sit around. I highly recommend going for Happy Hour which is Tuesday-Friday from 4PM-6PM. I highly recommend their cocktails, and my wife says the Happy Hour Grub: Loco Moco was some of the best Loco Mocos she's had aside from Loco Moco in Hawaii. My husband and I had a pleasant time. The bar is quite lively without being too loud or feeling too crowded. It is well-themed and the island music is a nice touch. The cocktails are good, and our server was very friendly and attentive. The menu is not so inspired (mostly burgers and sandwiches), but the food is served piping hot! My only thing is that there is a smell. The booths smell a little like feet, and the whole place smelled like Red Bull and vomit. It took me about 40 min to acclimate. Congrats to the Stowaway team for such an incredible new location. This ambiance has something for everyone. There's a bar area, booths, a hang out space with pool table and a more lounge like private space on the far end. Happy Hour Tuesday - Friday: 4-6pm I come here so often I have literally had every item on their Happy Hour Menu. My favorite 'grubs' are the Loco Moco (HH $13), Sweet Chili Wings (HH $9) and Coconut Shrimp (HH $7). My go to drink is the Dark and Stormy (HH $9/regular $13). When I take any friends here for the first time I always start them off with a Cococano ($13). Always love a fiery sexy cocktail. And for all of the dole whip lovers, there is something even better than a dole whip. They have an alcoholic Dole Whip ($14 with rum, $7 virgin). Nom Nom Nom! Stowaway 2.0 has everything I need for a good time with my friends. Love Dom and Leonard from the original location. They have staffed up significantly to scale up to their larger location. I've been here a handful of times and I really wanted to love it, but there's something about their drinks that are always just a little off. I've never had a well balanced drink from them; their drinks are always too sweet, or too watery, or too acidic/bitter which is such a bummer because I love tiki drinks. With that in mind, I do have to commend them on every other category. The ambience is always great, though I seem to serendipitously(?) get seated in the far back corner right outside the kitchen, which is a bit of a bummer. They have entertainment on the weekends and that makes it super fun! Their servers are always really nice and their food is also pretty good. The theme of this place is amazing! They've done an amazing job on the inside. From the outside it looks like a typical no windows dive bar. Amazing on the inside. Came here mid-day on a Saturday - no wait. The place was busy and pretty full though with a birthday party hovering around the 2 pool tables. Vibe is dark but lively, and a bit on the louder side. Hostess/server wasn't the friendliest, but service was ok. We were given a 2-hr time limit because the table we were at was reserved for later. She made sure to let us know our time was up even though there were plenty of other empty tables around us. None of the drinks we tried were overly sweet. Our favorites were the Mai Tai and Coconut Cove. The Mai Tai was one of the best we've had as well as the tempura fried shishito peppers. The portion was bigger than we expected but it was really good - perfectly crispy light batter. You can request a vegan version without batter. Came in on a Friday night around 6pm, and there was no wait at all which was pretty surprising! We were seated right away and were greeted by the friendly staff. The ambiance of the whole place was awesome! There were pool tables along with the great tiki decor. Every time someone ordered a drink on fire, everyone in the room would cheer, so it was pretty inviting and felt very comfortable! We ordered the stowaway fries, Mac salad, and ahi tuna! The food came out so quickly, and everything was tasty! Definitely get the fries! Came out hot with a tasty gravy sauce and runny egg. The ahi tuna was really yummy too and came with a side salad. The drinks we ordered were delicious as well, and after two, I was definitely feeling the effects from the alcohol :P Only downside to the place was that parking was atrocious, but that's not the restaurant's fault. This was the first time I had been here since it moved locations. I will say that this location, while being larger, does come with its challenges. Firstly, the parking lot is not large enough to support the size of the business. I came at lunch/brunch on a Saturday and we had to circle for more than 15 minutes to find a spot, as we were told the lot adjacent was a tow lot. Also, once our drink order was placed- it took a decent amount of time to get said drinks. They were good, but the time it took, considering the bar tender to patron ration, seemed long. Also to note- no where on the website could I find that there was a burlesque show here every Saturday from 12-2, but alas, there was! Consider how shocked I was to find that out on a nice lunch with my.... Parents. The food offered at this time is from the brunch menu, and it was good: I enjoyed my loco moco and an onion ring is stole from my mom. My husband booked us for brunch this past Sunday and the theme was Magic and Mai Tai's. This Tiki Bar which has only been open 4 months had booked a magician from the Magic Castle to go table to table performing tricks. If you've never bern in the company of a magician from the Magic Castle you are in for a treat! They are the best of the best in magic! We were already having a good time and enjoying our good and the magician showing up was the icing on the cake! I loved the big drink menu, lots of options to choose from! I got the Dragon Lady and enjoyed it thoroughly. Hubs and I got the Loco Moco plate which was just the right amount of food! Kiddo got a plate of pancakes which were sampled and enjoyed by mom n dad! When friends from out of town suggested meeting here, I was in! I love Trader Sam's at Disneyland so this was a no brainer. When I arrived I immediately remembered coming to this location before it became Stowaway. They really transformed the building. So fun with all the tiki items and their wallpaper in the restroom is amazing! The food and drinks were tasty! I got the Poke Bombs and I'd order them again. I also ordered the tempura Spam musubi which has a spicy twist that I enjoyed. Their sauce was delish too! It's pretty dense so this could easily be shared. My hubby got the shrimp skewers and he enjoyed them. I got 2 drinks, the Coconut Cove which was refreshing and honestly it was light on the alcohol which I kinda liked. I also got the Cococano which was stronger but not too strong. It was just right and came in a cute mug you could purchase for an additional $58. Their mugs are collectible items! As for the service, they were prompt when you arrived and after you were seated. They checked on us often and provided info when asked. However, after that, they were kinda sparse the rest of the time we were there. You get 2 hours too, which is ample time. I just didn't expect that. Haha We also had our original server take a break while we were there, so maybe that's why we didn't have as much attention later. All employees were very nice and friendly though. Their attire and vibe fit the atmosphere. The check comes in a Spam cam which was cute. Note: If you want to have your check split, ask for that initially as they couldn't at the end. They had some issues with that location, so they've moved. They have more space now, although they've kept the low ceilings to create the cozy tiki bar vibe. Drinks and food are great, and priced appropriate for this type of experience. Expect around $13 for a craft cocktail, $9 per appetizer, and $16 per entree. Servers were on top of things during our visit, and really kept things moving. PROPS: Great drinks, great vibe SLOPS: It isn't always easy to park here. read more

Having previously visited Stowaway two years ago in their original (and much smaller) location at The District, we were excited to check out their new larger venue. We were not disappointed. This new location is easily 4x larger and clearly needed to be due to demand. We had a reservation for 5 and got seated in a corner booth. With a 90 min time limit, we wasted no time. Despite some slightly slow service (our waitress was fantastic but clearly busy), it was a great experience. Mai Tais, Cococano, Rum Runner and Black Sands were all delicious and strong. Salt + Vinegar wings, Spam Masubi (YUM!) and onion rings were all great shareables. And the Katsu Kare was a plentiful entree. We will definitely be back, and looking forward to trying for brunch! read more
