This is such a cool tiki bar in a very unassuming shopping center. You would never know this was behind the doors if you just drove up. We did the Yelp check-in and were seated pretty quickly. At first they had bar seats available but we opted to wait for a "hut" which was basically a booth. We were seated in about 10 minutes. The food was yummy! Love this Tiki Bar in Tustin! I used to go to Stowaway when it was located in the District, and I'm glad it's still local after they relocated. The prices always have been reasonable for their craft cocktails and their cocktail menu is extensive with unique drinks. Most of the drinks are around $13-15 which is pretty unbeatable compared to the bars I frequent in the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area. The drinks are strong and not too sweet, which is perfect. I would definitely recommend the Botanical Mystery, Black Sands, and Singapore Sling. Service is always great here, and drinks come out quick for how complex they are. Came around Christmas-time and it was completely decorated and themed, which made it extremely cozy. read more

I first want to thank the management at Stowaway for accommodating our party of 16 so that we could celebrate my husband's 50th party. This cute tiki bar tucked into the corner of a strip mall in Tustin is very unassuming - but don't let that fool you. When we arrived at about 9:30pm on a Friday night, the inside was bustling, and I was very happy they were able to put us in a cozy corner of the bar. The entire staff, from the hostess, waiter, and bartender, were on top of making sure our party kept our drinks full. And even though their speakeasy, Belly of the Beast, was closed - they gave us a little sneak peak into it. I can see why they only take reservation of 4 max! But still, super novel. Everyone seemed to enjoy the drinks that they ordered. I especially enjoyed the holiday drink menu and that they offer more liqueurs than just rum in this tiki bar. This is a cute bar but it looked different on social media versus in reality. It's really dark when you first enter and then they take you through the curtain to a tiki bar. It's got a dive bar feel. There are pool tables to the left and bar seating to the right. They sat us at a table near the kitchen, so we couldn't see any other part of the restaurant which is the appeal of going there. It wasn't very full when we were seated. They have affordable happy hour drinks and food. I thought the food was just OK though. Looking for a local tiki bar in OC, I found this business on Yelp and it definitely did not disappoint! The bar and each booth are covered with thatched awnings, giving one the illusion that we are all enjoying our drinks and meals under the evening sky on the beach. The only thing missing is the sand at our feet! We perused the menu and the hand-drawn Zombie Fish tiki mug caught my eye! I referred to Yelp for actual photographs of this stylized anglerfish mug and I immediately found myself wanting one, complete with a lamp fashioned from a double parasol, for the collection! And for the record and as of this writing, the current Zombie tiki mug is red and NOT green as shown in the menu or in previous photographs posted by other Yelp reviewers. I found the Zombie to be strong and delicious, while my wife's Black Sands cocktail was more on the sweeter side. Our servers were prompt, attentive, and friendly. Since we had dinner earlier in the evening, we decided to partake in some light appetizers, consisting of coconut shrimp and the curry fries, and a dessert, a virgin Dole whip. All were delicious! I was very impressed with their food selection as I find many tiki-themed bars treat their food selection as an afterthought. You can totally show up, put your name down then walk to Walnut Room across the street to kill some time. The parking here can be horrendous Thur - Saturday so just take the Uber/Lyft or carpool. People get towed at Sushi Bear so I don't recommend parking there. The Vibes - Immaculate I've come here alone, with coworkers, and with friends. Perfect for any occasion to be honest. The parking lot is a bit small but we were able to secure a spot. There's another strip mall behind it with more parking. We were seated in the cabana area in the back which was able to seat at least 8 people with plenty of extra space. The inside is very well themed with lots of cool decorations and unique spaces. The service here is great! Our waitress was so nice and attentive (apologies, I don't remember her name!). We loved the drinks! Well, another successful outing to The Stowaway in Tustin. Super bonus points because we ended up sitting at the same table as my last review. And even better...We had Anna again as our server, YAY! She really brings a fun vibe to the place. She was so kind, as she actually remembered me from the last time we came in for a birthday celebration. We brought a friend who is new to the Tiki Vibe, so Anna made it a point to make sure we had excellent service. I will say, she did abandon us at one point (those dang pesky labor laws requiring a break...jk) but she handed us off smoothly to another wonderful server who kept the vibe going until Anna returned. Anna really goes out of her way at all the tables, not just ours. The decor and ambiance inside the place is very cool and fun as I noted on my previous review. Lots of the artwork and construction pieces are done by several very famous artists within the Tiki community. Had mainly appetizers for our dinner so we could share plates and bites. Poke Bombs were really good, the Shishito peppers and a great coating and flavor to them, the Tiki Tenders were fun and I really liked the Musubi. We had a few other things but can't remember them all. Drinks were very flavorful and reasonably priced for the Tiki market. We did try each other's so we had a good sampling all around. We had a Black Sands, a couple of the Ailani Elixirs, a couple of the Pain Killers, a Bahama Mama and one other that escapes me at the moment. Was just glad that we had the forethought to Uber there and back as the drinks can really sneak up on you when you are not paying attention. Be sure and wander around to check out the decor, so very cool. I absolutely love that we have this place near us. If I had to say something negative, it would be that when you look at the waitlist, it looks like it can be a long wait time. Especially on the weekends. It doesn't seem that you can just "pop-in" for a quick drink, it looks like you HAVE to have a reservation. (BTW-2 hour limit). We were there for almost that long, and we saw a few of the seats at the bar that remained wide open for the majority of the time we were there. Probably 8 seats total off and on. I would hate to think that if I walked in for a quick drink before moving on for the evening, that I wouldn't be able to because of the reserved seats. There were two parties of 4 that were waiting for a table when we left, but I would like the ability to just have a 20-minute bar seat for a quick drink if possible. We love Stowaway... we've been going since their old location and even the old name. My husband and I are frequent tiki bar visitors and this is a fave we enjoy visiting locally. 1st time visit. Our friends enjoy tiki bars so we thought Stowaway would be a good choice. Upon being seated in a booth near the bar, it was obvious, by the elevated voices of 3 young men sitting at the bar, that they were very drunk. After 1/2 hour, one man passed out with his head down on the bar. He was awakened by his friend and they immediately went to the bathroom where one or both vomitted on the floor. The 3 then left the Stowaway and a poor server had to clean up their mess. I waited 15 minutes and then had to use the bathroom; thankfully the server did a great job cleaning up. We were surprise that the bartender allowed them to become so inebriated, not only for the potential liability, but also in consideration of other customers' comfort. Really liked this little tiki bar. My friend and I went for happy hour. Initially, we ordered drinks from the happy hour menu but they didn't have a lot of options so I got one from their regular menu. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with the happy hour drinks. They are so weak. So you actually end up spending more and getting more drinks if you do that than if you just get one of the regular drinks. They're all really tasty too!
