LOVE Straw Hat....eat your pizza when it's hot though, once it starts getting cold, it loses a lot. They have an awesome salad bar here, always clean and well stocked. The staff is always polite and helpful. Once it gets busy, it's pretty crazy. But that just proves how good it is! I think they should expand and create more space, though not sure it's that's possible. I do miss their location on South Broadway, many memories there after my dad's softball games when i was a kid. Great specials....They've been around for a lot of years and i hope they're around for many, many more!! read more

Family owned and operated these people do it right. Great pizza and a very clean facility. It is in my top five pizza's, a big reason is the blend of cheese. It is not just mozzarella cheese but a 7 cheese blend. Nice and creamy so you don't pull all the cheese off at once. There salad bar is always nice, fresh and COLD. read more

I haven't been to a Straw Hat Pizza for years and when I read the reviews I was leary of going to the Santa Maria one. We were all pleasantly surprised to find that the service was good and the pizza was delicious! We got the works with original crust. All 3 of us enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and especially the cheese blend. We also shared some chicken wings which were decent too. I was happy to see Blue Moon on tap but I did miss the slice of orange that typically comes with it at most places. We all like the pizza so much, and the kick back atmosphere that we have already planned another visit for another birthday get together next month. I guess I'm a bit of a pizza snob and haven't found another pizza place in the San Luis/Santa Maria area that I wanted to return to. One of our group even liked it better than Round Table. VERY DISSATISFIED! The pizza was NOT worth the money at all and the employees *_* really! I asked the "cashier" (i don't even think she knew what her job was!) the specials she didn't know then said "um 20 for a 1 topping" I said ok I'll get that as I'm leaving I notice a bunch of special on the outside of the building! She failed to mention my pizza came with a pitcher an hot wings probably better that way lol but still very unprofessional! Straw Hat has been around since I can remember... long time! I'm a very considerate person when it comes down to customer service, as I've been there before, especially food service. Anyway, I came in with my fiancé, who had never been there before, talking about how he'd have a good time as I have in the past - food, beer, games. I looked up when the place closes and it said 9:30 p.m. We got there at 7:55 p.m. We decided on two individual pizzas, one salad, and 1 pitcher of beer. When someone finally came out to take our order, it was such an unpleasant individual. We had some questions which we felt we couldn't even ask due to his hostile presentation of himself. I remember asking something about the salad bar and his response was "Well its unlimited, but we close at 830" as I replied with "Oh, sorry. I checked online and it said you close at 930.?" His response was "Well we start closing up at 830; that's how it works" Appalled, I looked at my fiancé as to say, "Should we continue to order... or?" Because this man just seem so upset we were there. We continued to order and when it came to put our card in the chip reader, employee guy was huffin' around and just smacked our salad plate and receipt down. The pizza here is delicious! I really enjoy their salad bar too. It's always fully stocked and I appreciate the staff constantly coming out to check on cleanliness. This is a great place to come for birthday parties. They have a separate party room and a viedo game/ride area to entertain the kids. The food was pretty good, the cashier did a splendid job. However, the place itself was filthy, the servers were terrible just dropped off the food with no word. When me and my date arrived the most of the tables were in disarray and they were not cleaned even after the 1 and a half hours that we were there. My family and I used to go to Straw Hat Pizza EVERY Monday for the 1/2 off Large or Xlarge pizza throughout my childhood for years! I recently went and the pizza didn't taste as good as it used to... Their was really no sauce, no cheese, when you eat it it tastes as if it's a day old, and the crust tastes weird. and they don't hand out the coupons anymore. Straw Hat used to be my absolute favorite restaurant but now I recommend cugini's , Klondikes , or Marco Polo's! Very delicious! read more

I've tried many pizzas in Santa Maria. Domino's ,Little Ceasers and Pizza Hut. I can say that this pizza is really great. My friend that works there can guarantee that the floor,kitchen and tables are very clean. The tables matter to me if they are clean because it means they check regularly . Nobody wants to enter a place where the tables are dirty and you can't even sit down and eat. It also has variety of appetizers that are also very delicious. I've tried so many things off the menu I always have to go back for some more! The pizza is always made once you order it. It never just sits and waits for someone to pick it up. It's always made just the way you order it. Straw Hat Pizza always has a deal. Either Tuesday half price or Wednesday ten dollar pizza. They always have something to choose off their menu. The well done crunchy crust is always a bonus. The pizza is also lightly dusted with the sauce. It also has a very rich flavor to it. The tenderness taste to the crust as well is excellent. The well done bed covering of cheese is amazing! As well as the crust it can also be thin and tasty the way you desire it. . The seasoned seasoning is just perfect not to off and not too much. The light touch of everything winds up the pizza to be delicious. I know family and friends are very important. I'm a High School Student and my friends and I always go to this place. While the pizza is being made there is a small fun arcade. It's very fun to reunite with your friends. We always end up having a blast and making fun and awesome memories. It has awesome service. The employes are always very nice and always smile. They ask how my day is going which shows they care about their costumers. I love the fact that the pizza is brought to the table. once your are all comfy and ready to eat the pizza is there. We never have to wait 30 minutes to get a pizza. WI came here last month ordered before picking up 2 large pizzas was not satisfied at all they had the wrong toppings on both pizzas when I told the manager he replied that they were human and made mistakes I replied they should read the order before cutting it and put it in the front for pickup he said they did but still they do mistakes he didn't seem apologetic at all will not buy pizzas from here ever again especially I noticed he was rudeful. Pizza Is good location bad due to an incident on June 4th this year....I Have partys there all time but last visit was on June 4th...I went with Family and friends to dine in eat pizza...Have good time out no were this lady come in agrueing with her boyfriend...They didnt order not 1 thing staff didn't tell them to leave so I go to play games in coner with kids out no were couple makes way back there arguing and then out no were the girl starts swinging fight him in the coner were games at I told staff it took 45min before the called police or tried do anything... the couple mad way to a family party...lady starts yellin oceano sur 13 tryin fight lady with kids in her arms for no reason agian ask stuff and management call cops....There response time to call police was ridiculous and to top it off not once did staff or manger apologize for inconvenience very unprofessional.....Think twice before goin eat there cuz there care about no one but there self....I called 4 different times and credit was not on number told me while leave note on Randy's desk to call you and nothin read more

Being that I worked at Straw Hat for a complete year I can tell you that cleanliness is their number one priority. Brought my family to Straw Hat and had an excellent experience. What sets Straw Hat apart from other pizza joints in town is quality of the ingredients. We ordered a thin crust combo pizza and everything from the cheese to the mushrooms tasted fresh and not canned. The hot wings are tasty as well and satisfied my husbands cravings for beer and wings. We got the lunch special, which comes with a 2-topping personal pizza, unlimited salad bar, and a drink. Unlike the other reviewer, I wasn't impressed with the salad bar. The mushrooms had a dark brown hinge to them, like they had been sitting out for a while. The cut sides of the celery looked dried out and unappetizing. They only had one type of lettuce. And the topping options were limited. It wasn't that big of a salad bar to begin with, and all of the center buckets were filled with things like jello salad, macaroni salad, and potato salad. I don't typically eat those items with pizza and would have preferred if they used that space in the salad bar for more salad toppings. The prices were reasonable, which I really appreciated. The pizza was good. It wasn't great, mainly because I thought the red sauce was too sweet. It tasted more like pasta sauce than pizza sauce. There is a large seating area, big enough for large parties. There is a gaming area for kids. I would have given it more stars if they had a better salad bar and changed their red sauce to be less sweet. read more

Let me start by saying great and friendly customer service is very hard to find. I was pleasantly surprised to find it at straw hat. I walked in there not knowing what to order just an idea of what I wanted but the cashier was awesome. She let me know the specials and she even got me a deal on getting pizza and salad for me and wife with drinks. She ended up saving us money and still gave us the pizza we wanted with our choice of toppings. I asked her about the hot wings and she said they were great so we bought some as well and she was right they're delicious I let her know I liked them crispy and she made sure they were well done. Props to the owner for having such a great employee before we left we asked her name she said Jenn, the salad bar was great and well stocked.
