Cannot say enough good things about our dining experience yesterday! The restaurant was slammed at 1:30 (which says a lot in itself) and we waited only 10 min for a table. Our server was very nice, recommended the Reese's pancakes which I had my eye on anyway. We shared those, pesto toast and the Zeus on fire skillet. Best breakfast I've had in a long time, quite possibly ever! We also got a taste test of the Apple churro French toast - seriously unreal amazing flavors! Best breakfast potatoes in town, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Great service. The veggie hash actually had tons of veggies including greens, not 75% potatoes like many other restaurants. Only downside is no organic eggs. read more

I'm just not really sure how you can't like this place. To start, the staff is super friendly and greets you immediately. Oh, and as a bonus, they serve Dark Matter coffee! Yum! Now looking at the menu, you notice they put everything in separate categories. Very easy to read and understand. I've tried a few things but I HIGHLY recommend the Açaí bowl. It is to die for! And a super healthy option. I've also tried their avocado toast which is super good too! They really take care of cooking your food to absolute perfection. And it's nice because it isn't caked in grease. ( I'm an avid supporter of the minimal amount of grease.) I like how they leave water pitchers on the table. They don't do that for coffee, but they always have someone refilling coffees every 5 minutes, so you won't have an empty cup. I've only had one server for the 5 times I've been there, and Peter has done a great job so far! Very attentive. The manager is always walking around and checking to make sure you have everything you need! Oh, and if you plan on going on the weekend, make sure you get there early, or plan on waiting for your food for a little bit. But besides that, I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy amazing coffee, well prepared food, and great service. read more

Had high hopes and really wanted to like this place but I'm not a fan. I got a "make your own skillet" and my husband got the chorizo skillet. Both were very underwhelming. Only giving this place 2 stars because the pancakes and iced tea were really good and also our waiter was a sweet older man. Won't be back unfortunately :( read more

Just visited the Stray Hen Cafe and this place was outstanding!! I had the eggs Benedict and they were some of the best I've ever had! I also shared a buttermilk pancake with my sister and I'm pretty picky on buttermilk pancakes because I make them from scratch. These were definitely better than mine. The food was outstanding. I ordered the north side and it was a nice take on spinach avocado eggs. The pumpkin chai was so smooth and creamy that I wanted another, but with all the food I had no room. Also, the infused the water with watermelon and it was so tasty. It took so bit to find the place. GPS was showing it was in the opposite shot. So I called the restaurant and they sort if guided me to where we were supposed to go. Small place, so it fills up quick. We got there at just the time. My frittata was good. But my toast was burnt! So I really didn't eat the toast. Prices were a little more then most places. And service could have been better, but I get it was a bit busy. Overall it was good, though I'm not certain if I would venture there again. read more

I'd like to recommend that you start using organic eggs in your dishes. Breakfast was amazing, I got the Pesto Toast with the eggs on the side as I have an intolerance to conventional eggs. Love! So happy to have a restaurant in town that combines good food/big menu, great service and friendly staff. George was a huge help and so attentive to our family but was not over bearing with questions. The owner swung by but was so much more professional than previous owner and stopped by briefly and then he was on his merry way. Food was so good with so many options. What a darling and delicious breakfast and brunch addition to Elmhurst! From the moment we walked in we were impressed with the decor and ambiance. There were many people waiting on a late Saturday morning but the hostess assured us that the two tops move pretty quickly and we were seated super quickly after being advised it might be about 45 minutes! We took a a moment to check out the menu, many awesome options available. First the coffee, it is a special dark roast by Dark Matter and it was wonderful! I had the meat and veggie skillet with toast and my daughter went with the goat cheese, spinach and subbed the chicken sausage instead of the bacon. Both were fresh, piping hot and scrumptious! The eggs were also cooked exactly as ordered. Service was very attentive and gracious. Coffee refills were prompt. So many items on the menu that I must try so I will be back soon! read more

Tried this new restaurant instead of Egg Harbor in Elmhurst. Disappointed that they do not offer healthy options. Regular oatmeal-not steel cut. No wheat English Muffin for eggs benedict, only white Will stay with Egg Harbor for a healthy breakfast. Otherwise food was good. Very noisy also!! read more
