We were at Striper Bites on a Tuesday evening. We were told there was a 35 minute wait. Our table was ready in about 20 minutes. The waiter was pleasant but not overly attentive. I had the NorEaster which was a crab cake, scallops, and two shrimp. It was cooked just right. My wife had the Lobster roll and it was good but too small. We sat in the bar area which was very noisy which is not what we wanted on our anniversary. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was very nice. I would go back again. read more

We were exploring Delaware and decided to go to Lewes for the tulip festival. The town of Lewes is historic and beautiful! So many cute unique shops right by the bay. One of the towns people recommended going to Striper Bites & Bistro for lunch so we decided to check it out! They have indoor and outdoor seating which is always a plus! It was a gorgeous day but a little windy so we decided to eat inside. The decor is cute, with sailboats hanging from the ceiling, which gave it the "by the bay" feel. Our waitress was nice but seemed like she was in a rush. Wasn't very personable to say the least. I ended up ordering a basic salad with crab cake on top. Salad was dry (nothing special) but the crab cake was TOOOO DIEEE FORRR! Some of the best I've ever had. I tried the coleslaw but it wasn't good. My boyfriend got a turkey reuben cheesesteak (he's not a fan of seafood) and macaroni salad on the side. Both were alright- nothing special. Walked in for dinner at 5:15 on a Saturday with no reservation and they were able to seat us quickly. Service was friendly and attentive and atmosphere was relaxed and fun -- busy but not too loud at all. We were surprised to see sushi on the menu so we decided to try it -- portions were super generous and absolutely delicious. The shrimp tempura rolls were awesome. We also had the halibut meal which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend and would definitely return next time we're in the area. read more

Service was perfect considering how busy it was. The a/c was having a hard time keeping up amount of customers in the dining areas as it was getting pretty warm and made it a little uncomfortable. Loved the Crab Bisque, my kids loved the wing apps. The lobster roll was just so so, i actually prefer the one served at Friendly's for 1/2 the price. Portions are somewhat on the smaller side. Saturday evening, 7:45 PM, President's weekend in Feb. An hour for a table. Good for them. We got two seats at the bar instead and so glad. He was an excellent bartender. Friendly but kept everyone served and happy. Tried a lemon drop martini, a Fat Tire draft (had had Dogfish Head beer earlier), and we shared a mahi mahi club ($14) sandwich on ciabatta. (We had had a late lunch at DFH tasting room). Sandwich was decent, not top notch. Choice of fries, pasta salad or slaw. We chose slaw which was good with yellow raisins but a little skimpy. Others nearby ordering apps at the bar had a crab sushi roll that looked skimpy, too, frankly. But the atmosphere, bartender, vibe all satisfying to us for our first trip ever to Lewes. We went last night for dinner to Striper Bites for lobster rolls. Their bruschetta was delicious and a great shareable. My crab bisque was so good! Just the way it's meant to be thick and creamy. My husband and son got the lobster rolls. They are actually two in each entree loaded with lobster. I had my favorite the Nor'easter with a crab cake, shrimp and scallops. A weak 4, but consistently good experiences overall after a few visits. Not a huge place, but I've managed to avoid ever having to wait long. Really cozy ambiance, great spot for a romantic date. And the town of Lewes couldn't get any cuter. This trip we used it as our final meal on vacation. Service is consistently good. Of course the beer list is on point! Now, the food. While everything I've gotten has been pretty good, nothing has ever stood out. Even the well acclaimed crab bisque was on the bland side. For the price I'd really like a more memorable food experience. Despite the food being unremarkable, the overall experience here is still an enjoyable one and worth the trip. read more

Waited for a table outside since absolutely nobody wanted to sit outside and we had our dog.., we waited 40 minutes for a table that was open.... because "we have to sit in order".... Even tho we were the only ones waiting for outside. Dumbest thing I ever heard, sat there watching an empty table just to sit there 40 minutes later. Food is overpriced and mediocre, I've had better calamari at Olive Garden. My husband got the lobster roll which came out half the size as advertised in the picture (and was $23!?!?) Also the blonde too young to be working looking host was extremely rude, unhelpful and unapologetic. Sitting next to the bridge over the canal Striper Bites has a strong nautical theme going with boats and parts of boats and caught fish in among the rafters and stuck on the walls. If it were a little more down market I'd expect Captain Quint would come in after a long day. When we were there the bar was packed with what looked like happy locals, always a good sign, but there was no sense of exclusion. They were happy to see people there to enjoy their spot. Still the place is busy and lively with a friendly. When we arrived on a Friday evening without reservations we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. OK, we'll get a couple of drinks and wait. Maybe 5 or 7 minutes later, they had a table for us. The food is good and the prices are quite fair. The size of the cocktails is more than generous for the price. Naturally it leans towards seafood but the name and the building sign showing a striped bass does sort of give that way early on. A word of caution do NOT come on Friday nights. This is when they have some local 'talent,' I use the word with caution, singing live. The design of the place really doesn't muffle sound well and having someone singing, loudly, does nothing to improve this. The fact when we were there the caterwauler, I mean singer, was carrying on gamely enough despite the complete lack of support from his victims, I mean audience, did nothing to dissuade him from slaughtering the works of Petty, the Stones and god alone knows who else. I have been going to Striper Bites since I moved here 3 1/2 years ago. The service was always peppy and friendly! I have found the seafood to be really fresh. However, last night the waitstaff was sluggish. The hostess and waiter were doing their hair for the first 10 minutes I was there. The bartender was good. I had the lobster roll. It was delicious as usual. However, did you need to cut the portion size to one and increase the price by $4.00? That seems greedy! Stripper Bites has now slipped out of my top five spots! read more

Not worth the money at all. Got the fish and chips and crab dip. The fish was soggy and had no flavor and the fries were over cooked and barely seasoned as well. The coleslaw that came with it was just gross. The crab dip was alright... just barely came with any bread Also it had a layer of grease on top of it. Very disappointing. We visited upon recommendation and had high hopes for an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't close to expectations. We were seated at a table for two that could best be described as an elementary school desk with barely enough room for plates and glasses. To add to the lack of space the table was situated in a busy pathway where I was bumped by waitstaff several times as the attempted to squeeze through an already tight space made smaller by patrons at the bar. Absolutely my most physically uncomfortable dining experience. Our food was gratefully delivered quickly. My crab cake was cold in the middle and broiled seafood swimming in a pool of warm liquid with a touch of butter. The server did not return until waved down (once he was able to stop watching the game) to request drawn butter in an attempt to heat up and flavor the seafood. With limited success we waved the waiter down again for a container to take the food home to salvage. We packed our food and waited... no return. We asked the hostess for the check so that we could just get out of there. Had we been seated at a table that was actually large enough to eat at, food be prepared properly and had a waiter that was even slightly engaged it would have been a great experience. read more

My husband and I eat here every year when we visit Lewes. Every year the food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. I was a bit disappointed that their menu this year was reduced but every restaurants' menu has been impacted in this way. I normally get their sampler entree and this year it wasn't available. However, I was able to find something else that was just as excellent. I had an entree that had shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake. The shrimp and scallops were cooked just perfectly. The seasoning was light and flavorful as not to over power the scallops. The crab cake was fantastic. I only ate a few bites because at that point I was stuffed. I'm sure we will squeeze in one more visit before we leave. I highly recommend trying Striper Bites if you haven't before. You won't be disappointed. read more

Food was amazing and service was outstanding. We had Molly as our waitress. Food was prompt and warm. We had the Thai fried shrimp appetizer. My fiancé had a pineapple teriyaki salmon over rice. It was cooked to perfection. I had the bistro burger with bacon jam, white cheddar and arugula, with add bacon. I had a side Brussels, mistakingly I ordered them regular, asked our waitress and she gladly put in an order for a side of fried Brussels, my preference. They arrived crisped to perfection with bacon and Parmesan cheese. The service was outstanding overall. Although, the bartender could perfect his lemon crush...also bathrooms are unisex, only 2 onsite. Very good food, warm friendly atmosphere, nice draft selection - what's not to love about this downtown Lewes establishment? Wow is this place under-valued by many of those having lunch in Lewes. We walked by another nearby establishment with a significant line outside to be seated immediately at this terrific place. The environment is so inviting... have your pick of: bar area; booth or table in the main dining area; or a shaded patio to feel the breeze. The wife and I shared a salad and the fish tacos. Both dishes were very good - with fresh ingredients and crafted both carefully and skillfully. We've been here just a couple of times, and each time we leave telling ourselves, "We've got to make a point of coming back here more often!" We will do so.
