Was not impressed. They were able to put their service charge on my credit card but it was declined for the food I ordered. But they decided to get me to use a different card during the climax of the movie, which is even more disruptive than it sounds bc my wallet was in a bag on my wheelchair and I wasn't in my wheelchair and it wasn't right next to me. So they had to get my wc and drag it over so I could get my wallet. Quite disruptive. Why didn't they just wait for the credits?! Also, their chairs weren't all that comfortable. read more

I just love coming here mostly to eat and relax normally during matinee. The theater is kept cleaned and looks nice since they remodeled it. The seats in the front recline back while the ones at the top don't. I wish they all reclined that would be nice. They are a bit slow with the food so when you get there make sure you order it early so that way you get it time. Prices aren't bad and the selection choice is wonderful and plenty. I recommend the coconut tenders and sweet potato fries for anyone. read more

I've asked a number of times which foods are their favorites and they've never steered me wrong. I really enjoy the Classic American Burger w/fries, the Chicken Tenders w/fries & honey mustard and the Edamame & Hummus (starters). And one of my favorite things to do is about halfway through the movie I'll order dessert. YUMMMM, enjoying the Hot Chocolate Chip Cookies or Nutella Beignets really rounds out the evening. And the sodas/tea are HUGE! Unless I am truly parched I don't usually finish the whole thing. And if I do, it's free refills people! Clean establishment, the movie theaters are nice and spacious. The movie screen is dim and could be brighter. The house lights remain on "dim" throughout the movie and that's a bit annoying. The sound could be louder as well. People eating their food, clinking their glasses and ordering can be heard above the movie. They allow babies in the theater as well, they can get loud. If they compensated the screens and volume to accommodate the setbacks it would greatly improve the movie experience. The bathrooms are clean but smell like sewage. Plenty of parking in a well lit lot, and the staff is friendly. read more

I didn't go see a movie, I literally go to Studio Movie Grill to eat their coconut chicken tenders and fries. It's literally one of my favorite meals ever. I went and sat at the bar to order this to go and literally was greeted, told him I wanted to order a to go order and he said to give him a few minutes...and I waited...watched him work on other very random things that he could have done later seeing that I'm the ONLY person sitting at the bar, I'm fuming. Then when he finally comes back he doesn't even bring a menu!!!!! Luckily I knew what I wanted so I ordered, got my food and left. Came here and ordered a chicken Cesar salad and the chicken literally smelled like straight up dog food. I don't know if it was their seasoning or if something was wrong with the chicken but I ended up picking it out and placing it on the side. The smell wasn't subtle either, you could literally smell it as soon as they handed me the plate and I smelled it all throughout the movie as well, making me extremely nauseous. My friend ordered the same dish and she also didn't eat her chicken because she agreed it smelled really bad. I ended up trying to eating the rest of the salad but honestly the worst salad I've ever had. I'm not really sure how you mess up a salad, the dressing was awful and the Parmesan tasted like plastic. Upon walking up this is a pretty pitiful looking place. Even the lobby inside is pretty dead looking. They really should get a few chairs or things for people to sit in while waiting. The theater itself is ok. The seats aren't exactly comfortable. They're basically cheap office chairs. Each chair is placed so close to each other that there's no way for wiggle room at all. The food is decent. Recently I got the appetizer dips. The queso and salsa were good but the spinach dip was a little too soupy. Their burgers are actually pretty good! I got the Swiss and mushroom burger. It was cooked perfectly and a pretty good size. They have gluten free buns and gluten free pizza crust for anyone with a food allergy. When you click the button to order food or a drink prepare to wait a bit. It took 10-15 minutes most times for people to respond to us. Overall I'd give the theater itself a 2.5 but yelp doesn't allow for half stars so 3 it is. The food is good and decently priced. Ticket prices are very reasonable but the theater itself needs a face lift. They need a nicer theater, better seating and better service. read more

I see this as a customer created issue with the constant discussions between the groups on where to sit. Figure this out in the car on the way down and walk, almost, right in. Don't blame me of you stand in line for 20 minutes listening to the family structure break down, demonstrating lack of effective communication skills. It was actually entertaining. Seated, we placed a drink order for a pitcher of frozen margaritas and two waters. Despite asking twice, the water never made its debut. The $25 pitcher of marg with a $5 extra shot of Gold. I've had better. Much better actually. We drank it only because we were thirsty without the water. Tried the $25 food deal as advertised on the front of the menu. Our choices were as follows. 1/2 Chicken Nachos which were soggy when they arrived. A fork was required to pull the limpen tortilla covered in soggy salad and chunks of chicken. We each took a bite and push it aside. Pepperoni Flat bread did not provide a thin, crispy crust. Like the Nochos, this too was soggy and flaccid. 1/2 was consumed. The Chicken Tenders (regular not coconut) were good. Hot, big fingers were nicely breaded and fried over a bed of really good French fries. I'm a fan of the eat while you watch services we have in the area. With all the options, each brand must distinguish itself. SMG had good prices. Especially on their deal nights like $5 Tuesdays. The saying goes "you get what you pay for" and SMG provides just that. Next time I want a movie and dinning experience, I'll try somewhere else. read more

So they got rid of the rolling office chairs and added just leather seats that DON'T RECLINE unless you're in the first two rows.. not sure why they didn't get reclining chairs for all the rows, but they did improve their food menu and service. The screens are still same size but there seemed to be some glitches while movies was playing (not super distracting but it got annoying after it happened a few times). Food: I enjoyed my coconut chicken tenders with sweet potato fries and side of honey mustard sauce. I also ordered coffee which was OK, but it got cold after awhile since waiter kept forgetting to bring creamer. 4/5 Service: service here has definitely improved with super friendly staff and delivering food has gotten much faster than last time I was here (over a year ago). I would've given them 5 stars for service but I had to ask at least 3 times to get creamer for my coffee, so I can't give full stars. 3/5 Wish they had reclining chairs to go with the improved food, but since they don't, I'll be going to Cinemark a few mi down. read more

I picked my seat online and got the second row from the front so I could have a reclining chair. (Pro tip: The first two rows recline for better viewing experience so pick your poison. Better viewing experience middle of the room or closer to the screen with better seating...) We get there 25 minutes before our show and the greeters were friendly and informed us that the theatre wasn't ready just yet. So we sat at the bar and ordered so drinks while we waited. Within 5 minutes they called over the intercom it was now ready for seating. When we got there the waitress was already in there waiting for us and whomever hit their button to order she was right there to help. We ordered some popcorn and I got the coconut chicken tenders. They were cooked decently. If you are expecting restaurant style quality food I'm sad to say you won't find it here. Their more on par with fast food chains. The seats were clean and the floors. The people beside us ordered more stuff during the movie and they came pretty quickly. Even once they order the food/drinks flat pretty quickly too. So I can say that I enjoyed my visit there and will be going back again when I need a bite to eat while enjoying my film. Just don't expect too much and you'll be fine. read more

I don't mind this location so much as it's a convenient location. I like the fact that you can eat, drink and watch a movie at the same time. Service isn't bad here, and I like coming here when I can. I think the food is decent. They keep changing up their menu, but the food that I have tried were pretty good. I tried to BBQ beef burger, and it was pretty good. Sweet potato fries are always a good substitute as well!! A friend and myself split a margherita pizza, and I liked it. The food and service was great! The seats were clean, and the bathrooms were well kept. I was very pleased with the theater except for one thing. The only reason I am giving it 3/5 stars is because it was so unbelievably cold in the theater. Even with a jacket and a beanie, my husband and I had goosebumps and were shivering. I don't know the temperature of the room, but my husband and I usually have our house set to 70 degrees. It was uncomfortably cold. They have this cheese fries that at irresistible... this is one thing I almost never order but these... oh my I just have to. Cheese, bacon and ranch!!!! Never again! For years, my family loved SMG. But our last few visits have been horrible. During our last visit, my wings were overcooked, my son's sliders tasted funny and were very sloppy. We went to see the latest Jurassic World movie, and the screen projection was very small. There were huge gaps on all sides. It's as if someone were projecting the movie from their home projector onto a theater-sized screen. Who goes to see an epic movie like - only to feel like you're watching it on a TV? Ridiculous! With other theater chains now offering in-seat food orders, you'd think they'd raise their game. Instead, they are getting worse and worse with each visit. Word of advice; order your tickets online, ahead of time, pick your seats, and worry less about the hassle lining up with the procrastinators trying to get their last minute tickets at the theater. I came here at around 7 p.m. on Monday to watch the new 3D Jurrasic World movie with my wife. There is a massive renovation going on at the front of the movie theater. The main SMG sign is down and the front row parking spaces are also fenced off. Parking can be a problem during busy hours, so expect to walk a distance to the movie theater since you are better off winning a scratch-off lottery than getting a parking space close to the building...unless you are patient. If you haven't been to this location before or it has been a while since you came here, you may not recognize the place. According to their website, the phase 1 renovations are scheduled to end in July 26th and reopen in September. The movie theater was PACKED. I expected some delay placing food and drink orders, but our waitress was very efficient. We ordered the Monday special Margarita for $5 which was actually not bad, wife got a Merlot.We shared a cheese burger and fries which was o.k. I had an issue with those 3D glasses, they were scratched up and dirty and no amount of cleaning could make them better. I'd suggest they either have someone refresh these glasses or clean them up before the next movie. Also the recliner on my seat was not working and the seat felt like it needed some cushioning. Must have been an old chair. I'm looking forward for the renovation to be completed to see how the place will turn out. Hope it will be much better than what it is right now! read more

We came here using a Groupon on a Sunday morning and it was easy breezy. We did not pre-reserve seats (that costs an extra $1.50 per seat) and it was no problem. There was even a birthday party in the theater and the cashier told us about it so we could pick our seats accordingly. The seats are comfortable and the space is fairly new and modern. They did not recline as much as I would have liked. Once seated, we were presented with menus promptly and followed up on to order during the previews. The menu is pretty good and they offer a $25 shareable 2-person meal, where you share an appetizer, get your own entrée, and then split a dessert. We got our food about 25 minutes into the movie and it was presented discreetly. I noticed other people ordering once the theater was completely dark and it was not a big distraction. The movie, was cheap, but we definitely spent our fair share on food. read more

The ambience is real chill, I really like how they have music in the dining/bar area and while u wait for your movie to start you can order a drink or appetizer. It's good to arrive about 20min early just so when you're seated the servers can try and get your food or drinks to you in a timely manner before or during the beginning of the movie. The staff were friendly and helpful, Food was not that great to be honest it was very bland, and my chicken strips where overly cooked and tasted liked they had been reheated. Where to start we got to the movies early so we could eat in the bar area first. Pressed the service button waited 15 mins, 20 Mins, and finally gave up and just eat in the movie. The table behind us had not been cleared when we sat down, 30 mins later still not cleared, 2 hours later leaving the movie still there. Spilled drink sat in the bar area for an hour and still there when we left. No One was in the bar area all night and the Bartender never acknowledged us before we went into the movie sat at 2 different tables never approached. Where was a manager that nothing was being monitored. If your team can't do their job on their own I would think you would need to be present and instructing your team to complete basic tasks like cleaning tables, spills, or offering service. The food was tasteless and could have gotten better frozen flatbreads made in a toaster oven. This location is brand new and seems to be a new concept or flagship for the area. My wife and I have been going to this movie theatre since 2020 (post Covid) and every time within the past year quality of service has gotten drastically worse, food is cold an overcooked, you try to talk to a manager on duty and everyone plays crazy, after waiting a while a manager will finally come and still does nothing to accommodate you for their terrible service, waitresses are rude, lazy and they also triple charge your card and add there own tips even when you clearly put $0.00. My wife and I have been going to this theatre since it first opened over 10 years ago. The service, food, and general comfort of the theatre has deteriorated steadily over the past several years. Let's start with the service. Our food rarely comes out as ordered. Appetizers which should come out before the main course often don't come out on time, or come out with the main course, or not at all. Drinks are often incorrect, of poor quality, and come out late. Multiple calls to the server to remedy issues does little good. Last night our edamame appetizer came out with the main entree....mind you only one of our main entrees came out on time. We had to ask for our drinks multiple times. The servers appear to be high school kids with poor training. The food is lack luster. The pizza was cold and the salad was warm (a salad should not be warm and I was concerned I may contract food poisoning). The margaritas were horrible. I inquired to the bartender and learned they use really cheap margarita mix for their drinks. Mind you the drinks are expensive, so there is no excuse for the poor quality. The seating in the theatre was recently changed to cushion chairs (as opposed to the old swivel chairs). The new seats do not recline (most other dine in theaters have fully reclining chairs). The screen was extremely dirty...looked like some had thrown a milkshake at the screen which was really distracting as it was noticeable throughout the movie. I've complained to multiple managers throughout the years and nothing has improved. This issue is not just present with the PLANO location, this seems to be an issue with all studio movie grills (4) I have visited in the Dallas area, therefore this seems to be an issue with the company as a whole. Studio movie grill will not be earning my future business and I will be visiting Look cinema and Alamo draft house (of which the service, food, and overall experience are superior to Studio Movie Grill). read more

We decided last minute to go see the new Pet Semetary movie last night and we came here. I've been here several times before and I like to come here, because I can have food and watch movie at the same time. It's just very convenient. Last night, we came here for the 830pm showing and we got here early, so we can order our food/drinks and get our food before the movie starts. I must say that our server was very polite and pleasant, she didn't get my order right on one of the items. I didn't bother, because the movie had already started and when you need help, I need to push the button to get their attention and I hate doing that. My unsweetened tea had hardly no ice in it, so I had to ask for a cup of ice. They have servers who bring you food and runners who bring you drinks. I've had good service here before, but last night, the service was definitely lacking. My husband asked the "runner lady" for drinks twice and she didn't even look at him and walked away and he got really upset, because he was thirsty. My food was good and the movie was a remake, but with some difference(I'm not gonna give away!)with modern twist, I liked it. I think it will be awhile before we come here again. It was pretty bad 1). Didn't get drinks until halfway through the movie 2). Didn't get food until 30 minutes left in the movie (I had to leave and get a manager/missed 20 minutes of the movie). 3). Was double billed on practically everything because they entered our food in twice (we were verbally told by the manager that we wouldn't be charged for the food since they forgot it but that wasn't the case). 4). This is not starting well. Got here and the place is nasty before the movie even starts. All three of our tables in front of us are dirty. It took ten minutes before a waitress acknowledged us after hitting the service button before the movie started. She kind of got an attitude when asked if she could have someone clean up the tables while we were putting in our orders for food. She did come back a few minutes later and cleaned personally. First of all, I LOVE Studio Movie Grill's Coconut Chicken Tenders and I Love SMG's concept. But I have to say, the customer service ALWAYS fails at this location. My friends and I visited May 2, 2019, to watch the ever-anticipated Avengers - End Game. We had poor customer service experiences in the past and thought we would give SMG one last chance. Well, SMG - Plano didn't fail us, or should I say, the service was as bad as it always is. The staff simply do not care. We arrived early to enjoy a cocktail at their bar and the Bartender acted like he was in no mood to serve us. He finally approached us, rudely asking, "Are y'all just sitting here waiting for a movie, or do you actually want a drink?" After entering the theatre, my seat was broken. The waiter was inattentive and made us feel like we were an inconvenience. We had to make several requests for simple items like silverware and when we requested, three times, lemons for our water, he acted like he was so "put out". One of our party ordered the Avocado Toast, which I might add looked delicious, but was tasteless and had very little avocado. She didn't eat it and when my friend complained to the Manager, also telling him that we had been waiting over thirty minutes for our food, it was as if we were such an inconvenience. No apology. Sadly, we spent over $150.00 at SMG and it is the last dollar I will ever spend there. They spent a lot of money updating this location, but I hope the executives at SMG wake up. If they don't, I look forward to going Alamo Draft House when SMG closes. I do not write such reviews, but SMG - Plano is the ABSOLUTE worst and I wish I didn't even have to give one star.
