Meh its okay. The service here is okay. Our food came out fine, prompt and tasted good. But all of the staff appear to dislike their jobs. Noone is smiling. Not one. For me it was kinda depressing to see them all moping around. My table had not been wiped off from the previous patron. After being there awhile and watching the staff I wasn't surprised. Our server was attentive but never smiled or said anything other than you're welcome when i thanked her for things she was doing. It was an odd experience. The seats are comfortable and the place has been updated. I did enjoy the food. We shared potato skins with bbq chicken. These were great. I also had a veggie flat bread. It needed something maybe a little more garlic or herbs but it was still good. I'll still come here if the movie is right. Hopefully the staff will perk up ....geez. read more

Movie theaters get a lot of wear and tear but this theater was horrible. There were ceiling tiles falling or missing, lights were burnt out, there was a huge line down the screen and the top of the screen had a wave in it which distorted the film. The service was fine but we ordered food that never came so had to order again and one item we had to order a third time. Also be aware that there is an automatic gratuity. I did see a sign by the bar but it could easily be missed and you may be surprised. This theater needs a complete refresh and to be fixed. We won't be coming back here any time soon. read more

This place serves overpriced frozen food conveniently brought to you at your seat. Stick to the pizza, and anything fried is a safe bet. When we went they kept messing up the orders and trying to give us food we didn't order, this happened four times. I would have been upset for them interrupting the movie for me if it wasn't a kids movie o brought the family to. So they were actually waking me up from my expensive and well earned nap. I'd also forgive them if the place was busy, but we were maybe one of four groups in the theater. Convenience is what they sell in quick food and drinks. You're lucky if their drink sales and specials coincide with something you like, otherwise that's expensive as well. read more

SMG isn't the worst theater on the planet, but it sure isn't the best! They have a neat concept (dine-in movie service) and their staff seemed polite and friendly but that's where the pros end. Their bathrooms were dirty. Have you ever seen soda splashed on a counter and left to dry? You know how it gets that sticky look? Yeah, that's what the toilet seats looked like but with pee instead. Gross. I appreciate that they tried to be environmentally friendly and not have paper towels by the sinks but to stand there running your hands through the dryer for minutes to still have wet hands was unreasonable. Provide both options please. Inside the theater was meh. I can only speak about theater 10 but good God was it an uncomfortable experience. The seats didn't recline unless you were in the front row and they were incredibly shallow. Usually the back of my knees rest on the seat, but there was a significant gap and I'm only 5'6". I felt like I was in a child's chair. There's some give to the seat back when you sit, but it wasn't enough to be comfortable. You still feel like you're sitting completely upright. Never mind the tray, which sits nipple-level to put it simply. Maybe it's for people who like to spread their food on the table and just mash their face down to eat. Not my style. You also had to position the tray at an angle, otherwise it would slice your torso in half. Also, the seats were dirty and had food bits in them. Sound proofing was another issue. There was an action flick playing next door and you could hear ev.er.y.thing. Every boom, kick, punch, gun shot, etc. It masked the sound of our comedic film and was quite annoying. The food was meh. I was there for a private event and they had nacho and burrito fixings. The best part was the tortilla chips... They tried. There's very little quality and care given into this place and it shows. Comparing my experience to all of the theaters in the area, this is 1 I don't care to return to. read more

So... first off the place has a 30.06 and 30.07 code on the door and just for that I'll never give them my money again, bad guys are the only ones allow to carry in this theater. But for the experience, seats didn't recline, they had blown speakers and they cracked the entire movie. Next it was 80 inside the theater according to my watch and the floor was sticky. We could hear the movie next door over our own movie. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Worst theater experience and probably one of the worst theater chains. The people who run these theaters and the employees really do not care about the theater experience at all. 1. Dirty : sticky seats, food everywhere, trash cans overflowing. The self-checkout machines are nasty and broken. You can't even chose certain options cause the image is off center 2. Horrible service: used the red button but was ignored the entire time I was there. The servers were coming up to everyone else in the theater but kept passing us. I had ordered a desert at the self-checkout machine and when it arrived, I tried explaining to the server that There might be an issue with the red buttons and I would like to get some drinks but he just cut me off saying "okay, order by using the red button" and left. I quit trying cause I didn't not want to spend anymore money at a place like this. After I tried speaking to a manager but the theater was empty. I couldn't find a single employee after the show. 3. guest: loud, rude and talk through the whole movie. The servers don't care either. If you want a real theater experience go to Alamo Draft house when they open back up. I would rather wait until then than go into another studio movie grill. The food and service were OK. If you are coming here for culinary excellence, then you are in the wrong place. Reminds me of an Applebee's with a big screen. As mentioned in other reviews, there are some reclining seats and some that don't. There is nothing on the website that indicates which is which. The seats that don't recline are uncomfortable. However, my biggest complaint is that you can hear the move in the next theater. How hard is it to sound proof a room? The movie we were watching had a very intense seen where the characters were whispering to each other but all you could hear was a character in the next theater TALKING. Not explosions or some other action scene, just talking. So, I have had my first and last experience with SMG. If you want better go to Flix in Little Elm/Frisco, the AMC at Stonebriar, or CUT on the north side of Frisco. read more

What is not to like about this place? You can eat, drink and watch a movie to your liking. Atmosphere - 4/5 - They have a bar area in the lobby and you can order drinks and eats while you watch. The seats are pretty comfortable. Staff - 3/5 - This is where it hits or misses. It hits when you press a button and they show up each time. That is great. However, for unlimited pizza night, it is very slow. Perhaps it takes a while for them to make the pizza. Food/Drinks - 4/5 - Very enjoyable. I recommend their coconut chicken tenders or their unlimited pizza night (just give the person a heads up that you will be eating a ton :)). They have specials each night so its great. With $5 movies from Groupon, this is such a great deal for a date night. Overall, I have not had a bad experience yet and will be coming back time and time again. read more

Hot, outdated seating that doesn't recline, tiles missing in ceiling- place looks and feels like it's 20 years old! I'm baffled after reading some of the bad reviews. Our experience was flawless. Tickets were ordered online. No problem. Seats were comfy. The theater was clean. The sound was great. The picture was perfect. The bathroom was clean. Our food was delicious. In fact, I ordered the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips--they were yummy. Service was great. There's a button at each seat, so you can call if you want something. Staff were friendly and were actively working each time I saw them. I was very disappointed to find out they have discontinued the original way this dish was prepared, photo attached. Now, it comes in a standard glass with no chocolate shavings nor whip cream. This place is very mediocre - that's the fact. Seating: the seats are very rigid and uncomfortable. They don't recline back at all. The tray tables on the arm rest are a bit elevated than the general seating and that adds to the discomfort. There are no leg rest either. Food: the menu is decent and has all American flavors including pizzas and burger. I must say that their service is pretty quick. Despite that, food is Okay... nothing super. Our veggie pizza shown in the picture was decent at best. Bar service: fully stocked bar with good choice of wine and cocktails. Unfortunately the seating / seats are the worst. Not a very good theater considering all the good competition. I do not feel that this place is worth the expense. The menu does not have very healthy options and it is not a very clean place. On May 26, we went the watch to John Wick 3. In the women's restroom, stall number one had blood under the toilet bowl which meant someone did a terrible halfway job of cleaning it. This place used to be SOOOO much better MANY years ago when it opened. Has continuously gone down hill. Every visit is inconsistent: including food, service, staff friendliness, cleanliness - and last nigh was no exception. Entrance staff - meh, boring, expressionless droids. Service in theater - fast and attentive. Food - only had popcorn so can't really say much, but at least they apparently FINALLY figured our how to make true movie theater popcorn..was always super dry and bland in the past. Cleanliness - ladies room was DISGUSTING!!!! Don't know who's responsibility it is to keep it clean, but surely management could ask one of the twenty young employees hanging out outside the theaters to at least flush the toilets or do it their own lazy selves! In serious need of a facelift, but still a better unique movie expereince compared to the large multiplexes. read more

Well, this is one of the reasons companies use Groupons and similar offers. They want to breathe new life into an old business and see if they can get some new traffic in. That's fine, but they need to give us a reason to come back as full paying customers, and I didn't see much of that on this visit. Coming into the foyer area, aside from some nice flat screens with previews and such, the area looks tired and somewhat dated. It was at least clean, though. Going through the common areas towards the theater was more of the same: tired decor and carpet, but again, it was clean. Moving on into the theater, the seating (as mentioned by others) is all of the "semi-cheap office chairs", with a choice of either a semi-circle table between pairs, or in a row at a desk height "bar" of sorts. The chairs aren't terrible, but they lean back a little too easy and just don't feel right in a movie theater setting. I can't comment a lot on food, as we only took them up on our freebies, two soft drinks. My wife was a little bummed that they only have Pepsi and Dr. Pepper products; my Diet DP was fine, although service at the beginning of the movie was a little slow. As for the movie experience itself: We watched 3D Jurrasic Park, and glasses were self-served from a tray as you enter the theater. For the germophobes: I couldn't really see any evidence that sanitization had been done; they were just sitting there, and people just put them right back when we left. Again, I don't know what they do or don't do, but they're not in bags or in any other way denoted as having been cleaned. The sound was decent, with one of the trailers (Dolby, DTS, something) showing that the surround sound was there, but the picture was too dark through the 3D glasses; it clearly needed to be turned up some. Also, as we were watching the credits roll, I could see that the plate glass that isolated the projection room from the theater was filthy with dust and even a big fingerprint. Bottom line: This place needs some work. I can't imagine they're going to get a big bump from the Groupon, and I'm glad we didn't pay full price. read more

I just adore Studio Movie Grill because the seats are super comforable, it's never over crowded and you can eat while watching the movie, and some of the food items are pretty tasty. They lose a star immediately though because they are a MOVIE theater and have terrible popcorn, almost an unforgiveable sin but other aspects make up for it. I love that they have Nathan's hot dogs, they have awesome french fries and sweet potato fries, I'm a huge fan of their chicken strips and coconut chicken strips and their margarita pizza is very yum. Although their alcoholic drinks are hella expensive they are very delicious. This is a place I come again and again for movies, and the great part is they have living social and groupon coupons all the time, so keep on the look out! read more

Watched Suicide Squad here. Really cool lobby....kinda looks like a restraunt with all the booths and whatnot. Definitely come for the movie...the service was....no where...saw a bartender and one other guy...when the movie gets quiet you can hear outside of the theater, or worse the next theater over! We saw a movie a month ago and it wasn't even loud during the really action packed parts. So, i guess some theaters sound systems are better than others also. #8 is great, but you can hear the lobby when it gets to not so loud parts. And there's no actual "kitchen" so I'm assuming all of our food was microwaved...tasted about right... I suggest you only come if u have a Groupon or it's $5 Tuesday! read more

We were there just last night. We thought the food was good and the service courteous and timely. The chairs were comfortable although one should know that they are not recliners. The issue I had was the bathroom. Movie Studio Grill strives to be a more upscale movie experience however they're missing the important details. The women's bathroom was terrible and reminded of a truck stop. Only two of the seven soap dispensers were filled and I tried three faucets before one worked for me. Here's a pic of my stall, mind you, standing from outside the stalls you see the floors under the doors and they were all like this. And it smelled bad, as if hadn't been deep cleaned and mopped for far too long. read more

Not my favorite spot to watch a movie. Overall experience wasn't terrible, but regular theatres are cheaper and more comfortable. The positives. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. When I wanted to change seats, the woman who helped me originally was very friendly and helped me get everything changed quickly. The facility clean and well kept. The bathrooms a pretty nice, but some issues with the automatic faucets (that could have just been that day though). The not so great parts. The seats are terrible. Only the first 2 rows have the ability to recline. The rest of the seats are perfectly straight up and down. You have to ability to move the chair back at all, and they are so stiff. I originally didn't want to sit in the first 2 rows, but after trying to sit in the back upper seats for a few minutes, I knew I wouldn't make it through the movie. Way to expensive for such uncomfortable seating! The staff that serves you during the movie were a little underwhelming, but they are serving in a strange setting. We ordered popcorn and 2 diet Dr Peppers. My drink came out completely flat, and my husbands was semi bubbly. I had to get another one, which the staff was happy to do. We still enjoyed our movie and had a nice night, but I don't foresee myself coming back here to see a movie. read more

Went with my parents to see Incredibles 2. For the items on the menu, the food seemed extremely overpriced (our bill was $80 for 3 people). My dad ordered the quesadilla with fries and when his meal was delivered it had chips instead of fries. He informed the waiter and he was insistent on taking the food back. My dad asked why they couldn't just bring the fries to him without taking the entire plate back. After talking with the manager, the waiter said that we would have to pay for the chips if they didn't take the plate back to the kitchen. He conceded and transferred the quesadilla to a different plate while they brought out an order of fries. The woman sitting next to us said that she has never experienced anything like that in her 25 years of working in the restaurant industry. To seal the experience, we were greeted by the odor of rotten cheese upon exiting the theater. Honestly, with all of the other options in the area, I don't see why anyone would go here. To summarize: 1. The food was overpriced. 2. After messing up an order, they tried to charge us for their mistake. 3. The theater smelled like rotten cheese. read more

Came in to see Iron Claw as our usual theater was not showing it and we were far from impressed. We booked online and when we got to our seats the first thing we noticed was that nothing had been wiped down. Dirty trays, food on the seat, and sauce all dried on the service button. One of the service buttons didn't work at all. I had to ask twice for napkins to wipe the tray off and it was strange to me that despite asking twice and saying what it was for that no one else offered to do so. Makes you wonder what else is being missed or ignored both in the theater and the kitchen. We also felt like we were about take off for a flight since our seats had to be in the complete upright position- we verified with the staff that the seats didn't in fact move. You can make them budge a tiny bit, but you've got to put some weight behind it. Really need to up your game guys- every other theater out there now seems to have seats that recline. Quite uncomfortable. Drinks were fine, but 2 out of 3 came out wrong. Staff was friendly enough. There is an 18% service charge on your check FYI. That seemed high considering our experience. Never a fan of places that do this- it essentially says it doesn't matter what the guest experience is because we have our money regardless. (Which based on the dirty seats alone seems accurate) After seeing several of the reviews here it appears that fixing things like seats is not on the list of priorities. Customers give feedback, yet the same issues remain. Very poor business structure and it essentially says feedback from your customers isn't actually taken into account. Generic lip service responses look good, but unless something is actually done about the complaints, it's nothing but PR saving face. Considering we have had wonderful experiences at Alamo, Tavern, and iPIC I really had much higher hopes for SMG. Never again. Do not recommend. read more

I went for a free Big Brothers Big Sisters event, so I really can't comment too much on too much, but I really wasn't that impressed. Granted, I am not big on watching movies in the theater anyway. It was kind of dirty and trashier than I expected. They served us pizza which was a couple steps up from totinos frozen..not sure if this is the same pizza paying customers will receive. They brought us popcorn during the movie, so I saw how the whole serving during the movie thing works..it wasn't too annoying, but the movie wasn't that great either, so I didn't care. It's a neat concept, but kind of weird at the same time. The whole "kill two birds with one stone" idea doesn't make sense to me, cuz usually people like to talk about a movie over coffee or food or something. I won't go back. read more

I honestly hate regular movie theatres. I either need to eat before or after I goto them. Here I can do both, and in a fairly nice theatre. This is an old UA movie theatre converted (yes, I'm that old to remember when it was a UA theatre), and it's still in really nice shape. The sound system, screens, seating and projectors are constantly being upgraded when necessary. The food isn't bad, but isn't 5 star...this is still a movie theatre after all. But you can't go wrong with a burger or the pizza. The popcorn with butter is awesome(when fresh!!). I continue to go back here, especially with Groupons. It's a great place, and it still makes movie night fun. I will continue to go here!! read more

first time at a SMG, my husband raves about this place so we had to go see Terrifier 2. We had gotten there super early so we waited in the bar and ordered drinks, bar was super clean and drinks were amazing. we went back to the theater and it was super clean, and the staff had started our order as soon as we sat down. we got our drinks first, super quick and then our food. the food took no longer than 20 minutes which is perfect. the only complaint we had was the food did taste.. different. it felt more like food i would eat when i'm drunk. i ordered boneless wings, and my husband got the quesadillas, which were undercooked. everything else was fantastic, we will be back but probably will order something different. read more

Once again we were at the mercy of this theatre due to the movie of choice. First of all our server Alicia 4046 was the best ever! She got our special order perfect! The first time in years for SMG servers. Unfortunately the management lacks Alicia's attention . I asked the manager, who was busily sitting at the bar, why there was no sound during the preview, his response was they were commercials, interesting considering one of the "commercials" was the preview of the Lion King. I then asked why the theatre lights weren't dimmed during the previews, his answer was for the servers safety.....ok then what about the servers safety in the dark during the movie? He was quite rude, unprofessional and definitely had a chip on his shoulder. He was very offensive when I inquired. As a manager I would assume , stupid on my part, that the manager should be walking around checking on customers , not sitting at the bar. SMG step it up with management! There are too many other venues out there to choose from. From this time forward, if the movie we want to see is only available at a SMG theatre..... we will hold out for REDBOX. On another note, ladies bathroom was disgusting. The "red light" for service was on during the duration. Maybe ask the staff hanging around on their phone to check the bathroom. Come on people! Get it together! I'm happy to recommend an outside management "restructuring " consultant to corporate. read more

I'm still struggling with the Studio Movie Grill. Love the new set up but we are the only ones in the theater. We ordered the special for $25. The waiter brings us the dessert first and says sorry that it came out first. It's a brownie sundae. I was like no you can take that back. We will wait for our drinks and appetizer and then dinner. The ice cream would be melted by that time. He seemed like He thought I was crazy for asking him to return it till after. We got the meal it was good. Popcorn is back to being bland. Finally brought dessert. I had a pile of plates on the tray. Nobody bothered to take them. Even though I tried to get their attention. I think I'm ready to say goodbye to this place again. I think I had one of the BEST Mushroom Swiss burgers here...It was SO freakin' good! Even though I WAS struggling in the dark trying not to make a mess while eating it, I DEVOURED it. It was juicy, seasoned AND cooked perfectly, right along with the tender mushrooms. I was HIGHLY impressed. They had a great deal going on, 2 for $25. So my friend and I split and appetizer and we both got an entrée. Pretty good deal if you ask me. We had the chicken nachos for our appetizer and they were tasty as well. The only thing about this location is, the shape of the tables. I know I sound picky, BUT at all SMG locations, it seems they should have square tables, instead of little circle tables. Time after time....the workers for years won't bring silverware. It just seems they care more about how the customers want to pay but after multiple requests you still have to go out of the theater wondering who can still get you the silverware so that you can eat. I never been there but always wanted take my kids. Last Sunday my brother asked me if want to take my kids there. Sure, why not. My brother got us a coupon which save us some money but still need to pay $3 for 3D glasses. It was a pretty nice clean theater. We pick our own seat and starting look at the menu. wow, the price for those burgers are pretty pricey. I've ordered a garlic cheese bread $7.99, and mini buffalo wings $6.99. My son ordered a hamburger with fried $9.99 i think. My daughter order a pizza $10.99 and my husband order a hamburger $9.99. Total for 4 people we spend at least includes tips, drinks and tax and 3D glasses average $60. The foods was OK not as great as it looks in the menu. The problem with me is that I can not eat while wearing the 3D glasses. Hahahaha It was pretty hard for me to eat in the dark while wearing the 3D glasses and watching the movie at the same time. I have to take out my 3D to see the foods. I mean, it was not bad to watch movie while you eat but I am suggest do not pick a movie that watch with 3D. I went recently on 9-21-18 to see the 2:00 PM showing of The Predator. Upon entering the actual theater to sit down it had a really foul musky sent about it and the air was stagnant and rather warm, like the AC wasn't working. Over all just felt really gross and unclean. Also the screen was rather small. Service was fine, I ordered a soda and it was delivered fast. Cinemark West Plano is so much more clean and comfortable with much more accommodating large screens and better sound. read more

We have been a few times and while it is nice if you get to sit toward the back and kick back with a drink, the food is just awful. The last time we went, and I mean last time, we ordered a salad to share with buffalo strips, sharing those as well. The food was served in the dark during the movie and my husband took a bite of the salad and told me not to eat it. The greens had turned and the only way to know was if you saw it before you ate it. My husband had a sick tummy during the movie and we had the salad removed from our bill but we will never trust the food here again. If you do chose to eat here I recommend you bring a flashlight or phone app so you can check out your food before you taste it otherwise you may have some serious regrets. read more
