I almost don't want to review Subito out of fear that this gem will be discovered. It would be a disservice, however, not to share the underdog contender of Cincinnati fine dining. It is, without a doubt, just as good as Soto, at half the price. It is good, hearty, Italian food. Plenty of menu options, each a unique and complete blend of flavors. Service is prudent, punctual, and personal. We felt we had a report with out server that no where else can quite match. It perfectly blends fancy and hip. Absolute trash experience. Whilst the decorum, which is the only reason there is a star, is very elegant and wonderful ambience. It is left to be desired due to lack or basic manners, customer service, guest experience and cold ass food. "Managers" who look uncomfortable when interacting with guests and don't know how to handle a simple situation or use verbal communication should not be in that position. Your staff needs retraining on how to address issues and be informational to guests. Even bartenders should acknowledge guests by greeting guests, even if it's a simple "hey, I will be right with you." While the pictures make the food look remarkable, it's all tainted by the terrible experience yall have decided to provide and a lack of desire to return. Do better. read more

After getting stranded in Dallas on a layover, we arrived to our Cincinnati hotel at about 10pm. Nothing close to our place was open but this pricy little Italian joint in the fancy schmancy across the street from us. The restaurant was closed but they said they would serve us in the bar. Once seated, the server saw the small bar menu in our hands and quickly replaced it with the full size menu, telling us she'd let us know what items they could not cook up for us this late. My Italian beer was delicious as was my chicken and pasta dish. I'm too lazy to look it up online and find the exact ingredients but it was a large chicken breast served with a layer of sliced prosciutto (or similar) and covered within alight white wine sauce. My travel partners had the scallops and salad and there were no complaints from them. We were exhausted from the very long travel day, paid the bill and passed out across the street. read more

I've never had a bartender that wasn't nice they're always very friendly and professional. I've had a burger and I've also had a pizza which are both very good but I'm sure they have Much more to eat and top of the notch Marriott standard. read more

We almost cancelled our reservations due to some of these reviews but we decided to go ahead and give it a go and boy am I glad we did. So delicious! We were there Saturday night and enjoyed live piano and singing in the dining room. Food was so delicious. We had the calamari which was good but was just your typical calamari, although the fried fennel was a nice touch. We then split the Arugula and Plum salad and it was very good. The candied jalapeños were tasty! We each had the bolognese as the main dish. Very very good. Don't listen to these other reviews. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely go back. read more

I ordered the Caccio e Peppe while dining with two coworkers who had the Salmon and the Bolognese. We waited well over 25 minutes before we received our meals. My coworkers said their meals were good. My meal was almost tasteless, and it was just warm. I wound up asking for salt to try to add flavor and it didn't help much. I simply had lukewarm noodles with salt at that point. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Service is slow and sporadic and the food is just subpar. read more

Our food here was very good, but it remains behind Boca in service. Came here for my wife's birthday, with my 10-year old daughter. It is in the lobby of the Lytle Hotel. The restaurant is just off the lobby with indoor and outdoor dining. It also houses the hotel bar. The night we visited (Saturday), there was a live pianist / singer that would've been a bit loud inside but was very pleasant outside. Her performance was enjoyable. We ordered a bunch of items and shared them all. - Beef Carpaccio - Panzanella salad - 4 jumbo shrimp and 2 crab claws - cheese pizza (for my 10-year-old primarily) - rigatoni Genovese - grilled branzino - 2 cocktails, 2 draft beers, 1 mocktail - total was $184 (I believe) before tip Pacing of the food was nice, and with this many courses, the meal felt like a culinary journey. As a foodie and enthusiastic home cook, this is the way I like to spend my time! Everything was good, but here are some highlights....Panzanella salad was quite good. The raw bar items we got were fine, but nothing extraordinary. Cheese pizza was not on the menu, but they accommodated for my daughter; it was nice and thin. The best item was the rigatoni; it was a nice change of pace from most other pastas (not tomato nor cream based) in that it was served with a wine (Arneis?) sauce and I detected a tanginess that I thought was vinegar. It worked very well together. Branzino was good too; a generous portion of two fillets. It was served with fennel (not the seed, fennel is like a leek) and capers, but some other items on the plate (olives) felt a little extraneous. With pizza, pasta, meat, and seafood, Subito offers variety on the menu, even though each of these categories has only 4-5 options. For a restaurant serving "northern Italian" food, I was a bit surprised to not see risotto on the menu, but there is certainly a lot to pick from in that region! A note on portion size: when I see "Primi" and "Secondi" on a menu, I usually assume that they will be very small portion sizes with the expectation that each diner orders both. That was not the case here; my pasta and fish were both generously portioned and I am glad that we were sharing them. I appreciate a decent portion; this is fine dining, but if you are paying $23 and $26 for a pasta and a fish respectively, it is nice to get the value of a decent portion. The service was fine, but not a real strength. We had a single server with an assistant / busser. Our server's vest had some stains on it. There were some periods where he didn't stop by for awhile (he was very busy). And the service just wasn't "wow!" When I compare to Boca, where there is "team service" with plates being presented simultaneously (not that we ate that kind of meal here), it doesn't compare. All that said - we had no issues with service and I sympathize that there is a labor shortage. This is not a reason to not dine here, but it was the one thing that I really felt could've been better. We had a very fine meal here worthy of a special occasion. The menu is big enough and interesting enough that I would like to return to try some other menu items. This breaks my heart because I was really looking forward to trying Subito out. First, the decor is breathtaking. They thought of every detail. I could go back for drinks again and again. Wait staff is top notch. Very tentative, very knowledgeable. Cocktails are wonderful. But the food...sadly it was a great let down. I had a Caesar salad to start. It was overdressed and lacked flavor. For my entree I had the salmon ravioli, it also lacked flavor. At first I thought it was me and something was wrong. I had my husband try both, and he thought the same thing. Then I tried his cocktail just to make sure my tastebuds were working, and they were. Beautiful dishes, zero flavor. My husband had a rigatoni dish, he said that it was just okay. Would definitely go back for drinks and a bite, but never a full meal again. Hope we were the exception and not the rule. read more

Nice ambiance. Everything from food to service was just average. Our server was efficient and courteous but stiff, lacked in personality and did nothing to personalize the experience. The pasta was good, the shrimp in it were small and overcooked. The lamp chops we ordered were not medium rare but completely raw with blood running on the plate. Came here on Thanksgiving with my family so this review may not be applicable to their normal menu. It's located downtown and street parking would generally be available, except there was a lot of construction when we went so we had to valet. Our server was super friendly and helpful! They have a large central bar which has more lively vibes but we were seated in a separate room that was a bit quieter but still chill. This place gets 3/5 stars mostly because the food could be improved. Most dishes could have used more salt and the appetizers were a bit small to share. The turkey we had for dinner was a little dry and overpowered by rosemary seasoning. The highlight of their menu was their brussel spouts which were awesome! Overall, would consider checking it out again to assess the Italian food but for Thanksgiving, homemade can't be beat. read more

Rude, uniformed staff. Mediocre food. My San Margherita (the uniformed waiter Ryan tried to correct my Italian pronunciation) pizza had no basil but had thyme???? Sub par and the plate it was brought out on was cold. Warm plates allow for warm food. Cooked in a gas oven that lacked flavor from a proper wood fired brick pizza oven. Waiter made a remark me being a caveman about my eating it with my hands. Duh, it's bread as is any proper Italian style pizza. The Calamari was a tangled mess of tentacles, cold, (warm the plates perhaps) and only a very few hoods of the squid. We had to wrestle them apart. The lemon sauce overpowered the calamari. The tomato sauce was not anything to remark about. Calamari has a delicate flavor. You need to be cautious or in the case of the lemon you can drown the flavor. The mid course sorbet was purported to be red orange. It was the flavor of baby aspirin, not red oranges. I doubt any orange died to make the sorbet. The server on the next table loudly and incorrectly said a mojito is Puerto Rican, it's Cuban. My wife however had a decent dish. A crab ravioli that with the shrimp bisque was quite wonderful. Oh well one dish out of four. The ambiance was nice, with a chef and servers that know their trade this would be a decent restaurant. I may well be a caveman as he suggests, I however have a sharp palate and have shared a dinner with the then crown prince now King of Spain. I know what a proper meal should be. read more

Id been wanting to go to this hotel forever and we skipped the roof bc it was cold and rainy but Subuto was top notch! We sat in the covered and heated patio which has kind of loud ambience bc of the acoustics which I didn't mind but my guest felt was annoying. I got the scallops and they were PERFECT!!! Huge scallops and cooked perfectly! We shared the mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. My friend said the Brussels were the best she'd had (I disagree but very good). Wow! Just an Amazing experience. We are in town from LA and came as a suggestion from a dear friend. The property here at the One Lytle Mariott is spectacular. The Subito restaurant is one of those places you walk into and feel as though you're in a different world. A Beautiful setting and a great bar to meet people or spend time eating. JO is Excellent. Make sure you ask him to recommend a gin or bourbon to try. He's a master of spirits! Our waitress Cary was superb and gave five star service. The manager AJ was beyond accommodating. Great hotel restaurant. I highly recommend having reservations even during covid weekend as it can get busy specially with limited seating. The place is really beautiful specially the colors and interiors. The food is on point. I'm super happy to see cacio e pepe on the menu. The baked oysters were delicious and I can easily eat 30 of them in one sitting. The salmon with risotto is delicious and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The bread with drawn garlic butter was delicious! Made me crave some crab and lobster. Overall, this place is more of a 4.5. I wish there was more cocktail and desserts selection. I think there were only 6 or 7 cocktails and very limited desserts. Can't be a northern Italian inspired restaurant without a tiramisu. I wish there was also more wine by the glass selection such as Chianti for example. Overall, this place is top notch. There was live piano performer on a Friday night and it gave me some sort of normalcy. Service is very friendly and on point. Pricing is just right and everything is clean. I sat at the outside bar, which had far better ambiance although I mostly did it since I was by myself. I thought the food was great, the drinks were very nice, and the presentation was awesome. I would say all the staff and servers there were very nice, friendly, attentive, etc. To me that can make or break the experience, and I thought the staff and service was great. Out of my two brunches there, I would rate one as excellent and the other as good in terms of food. However at breakfast, I wasn't really trying lots of creative dishes. They also had live music in the evenings, which I heard in the evening from the bar. I'll review the rest of the hotel experience and the two bars separately. It's definitely possible that the bar experience is affecting my view of Subito No negatives really! read more

Came to the Lytle Hotel a few weeks back for their rooftop, and noticed the restaurant, so it was a must. We always do a Thanksgiving dinner, so I thought this place was perfect for the occasion since it's fancy and beautiful. We got there at 6:00 and the place was almost empty which was very nice. The hostess was friendly and took us to our seat, however, the server did not come to our table until probably 10 minutes later. When he finally came, he greeted and asked for drinks order ( we didn't even have a drink menu). I wish, first that we had one, second, that he explained that they had a Pre fix menu and mention alternatives since for some people a pre fix menu is not convenient due to dietary restrictions or so. Anyhow, we ordered our drinks and he said I'll start bringing the salads. Salads came, and no drinks to be found. Drinks didn't come until after we finished the salad, so drinks came followed by the main course. The drinks were okay, and the food was very tasty. The salads were extraordinary, the main course was a big plate; it had mashed potatoes, risotto, broccoli, and turkey. Everything was delicious, hence, being such a big place we only ate probably half. We got the rest to go, along with the Pumpkin Cannolis. Overall, the place is incredibly beautiful, the background music was soothing, the food was delicious. I wasn't too thrilled about the service or the options when it came to a pre fix menu. I plan to give it another shot on a regular night. read more

Apparently gay people are not welcome. My Open Table reservation indicated we were celebrating our anniversary. Our server, unaware of the Open Table indicator asked if we we're celebrating anything, and I said yes, our 7th year wedding anniversary an 26 years together. A straight couple got champagne and amuse-bush of a strawberry sorbet. Another straight couple got champagne for a birthday. We got nothing. We paid full price for our drinks, dinner and bottle of wine. Only when I complained that my lamb chops were tough and gremolota too salted did we see a manager. The manager tried his best to back paddle over why straight folks received better treatment than we did. We were offered chocolate covered strawberries for dessert....we declined as we wanted to get away from the homophobia in that place. Will never go back. read more

I wasn't sure if they'd do fried chicken and biscuits well... but they did a great job. I'd put their biscuit sandwich up there with boomtowms, in part because the gravy was so good.. My partner loved her waffle, and both the goetta hash (shared) and my mom's frittata were solid. We shared 4 different dishes, my mom got a belini, my partner a mimosa, and I a latte, and all the drinks were also great. Prices, servings, and flavor were all appropriate. Both were very good. Tiramisu and Cannoli for dessert. Both very good. Service was very good with Ryan. Valet parking is offered. If the weather is good, they may open the patio doors or you can go to the rooftop bar. Great view of the ballpark. read more

We had a wonderful experience dining at Subito last night. The food was top notch and the service was without a doubt the best I've ever had. Our server, Gina, treated us like family and not only anticipated our needs like only an experienced server can, but she also offered suggestions, offered us wine samples to make sure we were happy with selection, and even made my son a special drink so that my young son could participate in a toast with a special drink. I also need to mention how amazing the restaurant staff was. Dottie made sure we were well taken care of and Caroline the hostess is adorably sweet. If you go to dinner, request Gina for your server. I'm bummed out about this place. I just checked into the hotel - hungry and tired. I head down to the lobby and ask if they can seat 1 as a walk-in. The hostess said "we are fully committed for the evening". I look around and the place is half empty. I sit at the hotel bar nearby to at least get something to eat. I don't see anyone checking in to the "fully committed" restaurant for the 40 minutes that I was there. On top of that, I check OpenTable while sitting at the bar and there's plenty of openings for 1 person to be seated then! I don't know if the hostess just wanted to avoid working that evening or what. Not the best customer service. read more

Went to the buzzy new Lytle Hotel to try the Italian restaurant on the first floor.The scene was good, with comfortable booth seating, an option for outdoor, and live piano music and singing. The food was solid, with the Cacio e Pepe packing a punch (and pretty large portion). My date got the salmon and voted it a solid dish. I'm giving Subito 4 stars because the ambiance was great and I will 100% return for that. The food was good, but with some GREAT Italian options in Cincinnati I would go to Alfio's, Pepp and Dolores, or Forno before returning to Subito solely for the food. Beautiful decor in the hotel (as a fan of historical architecture, I'm a little sad at what needed to be modernized in the hotel. We went for brunch on Sunday, and the bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys are incredible (the Bloody Mary, with jumbo shrimp, bacon, olives and celery, is a meal in and of itself). I ordered the frittata (which was delicious and filling -- the cheese really makes it work), and my partner ordered the goetta hash (also excellent). I was a bit disturbed that our waiter had no idea how to deal with dietary restrictions (he seemed to be confused between "gluten" and "carbs" -- "Does the hash have gluten in it?" "Yes, it's full of potatoes." In returning an answer from the chefs, it was clear he'd asked about "grains," not "gluten." Maybe some staff training is needed?) It's a bit pricey for brunch, but definitely worth it for something fancy, even if you're not staying at the hotel. read more
