In reviewing the menu, we debated between a "Hamburger" ($10.49 each) and a "Little Hamburger", but ultimately both my husband and I decided upon the former. The menu described the Hamburger as "fresh, hand-formed patties hot off the grill and placed on a soft, toasted sesame seed bun." You can choose as many toppings as you want with no additional charges, choosing from mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, jalapeño peppers, green peppers, bar-b-que sauce, hot sauce, or A1 sauce. We ordered "All the Way", which I believe included the first 8 toppings just mentioned. We also ordered a Little Fry ($4.89) to share, and a regular soda ($2.89, with free refills) for me. The cashier was very friendly and efficient. We sat down with some perfectly roasted peanuts from restaurant, while we waited for our meals. They came quickly, and we were amazed at their sizes. Each hamburger had two giant beef patties and, with the toppings, they were so large that we had difficulty fitting them into our mouths. They were indeed very tasty, and also very messy. Luckily, they did provide a lot of napkins. The Little Fry was also large and tasty. Even with sharing, we weren't able to finish all of the fries. In the future, we are likely to go with the smaller "Little Hamburgers". The ones we ordered, while tasty, were a nutritional bomb (840 calories, 43 grams of total fat, and 430 mg of sodium) and more food than we needed. In addition, because of all of the toppings, the sesame buns disintegrated before we finished them. Also, inflation has made beef expensive. Our meal (2 burgers, 1 small fry, 1 regular soda) came to $32.01, including tax but before tip. (March, 2024). The dining room, and restroom, was clean. Decorations included huge sacks of raw potatoes, peanut oil, and the self-serve roasted peanuts. Parking was plentiful and free

I didn't discover the issue until I left with my food and I didn't have time to go back. The sandwich was good. They didn't ask what kind of bread I wanted, but I asked them my choices and I switched from White to Rye. There were no napkins provided in my go bag. On my second visit, I ordered the chicken and waffles. I checked the bag for my napkin before I drove off. The chicken was delicious. It was well prepared, juicy and very flavorful. The pancakes were good. I do have a problem with food service low level pancake/waffle syrup that is mostly caramel color and high fructose corn syrup. They can give people choices if they want real maple syrup or just pancake syrup. Some people may prefer the pancake syrup. I'm fine with saying we give you one packet of syrup, but you have to pay for additional if they get the good stuff- real maple syrup. The biggest problem is the rookie move of putting freshly fried chicken directly into Styrofoam. Unbeknownst to me, under the chicken was a gaping hole where all of the maple syrup drained into my lap requiring me to drive 40 minutes back home and change clothes. Although the chicken on top was delicious, I avoided the one on the bottom that melted the Styrofoam into it. I really appreciate them cooking my chicken fresh, but thoughts into their takeout container must be considered. I have not eaten inside the restaurant, so I cannot speak about service while dining in. The ambience is OK for a breakfast place but I think it could be so much more. The food is really good here so I think the ambience could step up to match the food. I really want this place to be successful. It's great to have other options for takeout other than the typical fast food restaurants on this part of the road. I'm not sure if I will go back.

Their chicken has a delicious breading and a great taste. I'm not a fan of their fries. they are nothing special. Layne's thin white gravy has a good taste and so does their Texas toast. It may be called Layne's toast and not Texas toast, I didn't ask. I like their takeaway order being in one box, although it is a rather long box for what little is inside. Back to the taste of the food, which is what you are interested in, not the size of their takeaway box or the name of their toasted bread. I like their chicken. For me, their chicken has a great taste and by the time I bring it home and open the long box the chicken is warm and the fries are cold. Their takeaway service is nothing special, not in Warrenton, but eventually they will have your order ready, maybe. Price is expense but so are the other fast food chicken locations. I recommend you give Layne's a try and decide for yourself.

However, for me, it was a bit of disappointment walking in, thinking to myself "This still is just like Burger King inside.".

This situation could have been handled much better from a customer service standpoint. Offering the 10-pound ham at the originally purchased 8-pound price would have been a reasonable solution and would have avoided unnecessary frustration.
