I love that when I walked in I was greeted by an employee with a great smile. I got the Combo Plate with brisket and pulled pork, with pasta salad and broccoli salad. My brother went just with the brisket, cornbread, pasta salad and potato salad. The brisket was really great. It had a very nice bark on it and some very nice smoke as well. The pulled pork was surprisingly a little dry, albeit, still very good. The sides, as always, were outstanding. Almost like the cliche, "like mom used to make". Except for the "Gangsta" cornbread. Giving this 4 stars for the food/service but have complaints too. First, it's expensive - $60 meal for 4. Although I did like 1 price for all - 2 sides and a drink for one price. It's cafeteria style and was packed on Friday night. - line out the door. Ordered combo plate with brisket and pork. pork was a little dry. Coleslaw nothing special, cornbread a little dry, mac n cheese is awesome. Mississippi Mud Pie milkshake gets a 5 star. Suggestion: moisten the cornbread; make the line start at the cashier instead of after everyone orders...the line was slow and food cold by the time we paid and found a seat; have one person assigned to take phone orders rather than having them run the register and phone during the busy times. read more

Don't get me wrong, everything smells and tastes delicious here. However, the violent 4 hours of vomiting I had from eating here about a month ago still leaves me queasy at the smell of bbq now days. I won't be back after that. Additionally, they're overpriced here IMHO. Go downtown to Pappy's for better service and quality food. The ribs were meaty, but had NO flavor and were cold. No way were they smoked in a smoker. The website was broken, so indicated an incorrect price. $22 for a rack of flavorless ribs, very overcooked and limp fries and potato salad is high. Also, their soda selections frankly suck. The root beer is disgusting, and there are no name brands of soda. They clearly make their money on selling beer. The price for a slice of pie is insanely high.. No higher end restaurant is that proud of their desserts! .The cups for the sauces are very small and the bar to fill them is messy, crowded and inefficiently organized. I've been here a few times and always gotten the pulled pork sandwich, which was very good, lean and substantial, but today's visit has me thinking I might never go back. When I placed my online order, I was called and told the website was incorrect, that the $18 didn't include sides. There was no offer of a free soda, or a side, or to honor the website's price, which they acknowledged did say the $18 included two sides and a soda. Poor customer service, imho. The staff is friendly, but not enough to make up for a totally flavorless meal at a much too high a price. read more

Delicious brisket when firing on all cylinders. Inconsistent at times but never disappointing to eat. Sides are tasty and you'll love the selection of sauces. I recommend the coffee BBQ sauce. Just trust me... I don't drink coffee and it is still my favorite. Fast casual which could really stand to open a larger and more relaxed location. Too caught up in over the top combinations. The key to great BBQ is having great BBQ. Somewhere along the way they missed something. If you just want pulled pork it is fine. Last time I got the brisket and it was so salty tasting I could not finish it. The dining room is chaotically unorganized even if you are just getting carry out. I'll get this off my chest before I get into my review. I am not a big fan of BBQ and never have been. However, word of mouth gets around and I get told I HAVE to go to Sugarfire at Winghaven. I caved and gave it a shot. Bandana's still leaves a sour taste in my mouth from bad service to mediocre BBQ. Right when you walk into Sugarfire, you get the royal treatment by over 6 employees with smiles on their face. I just felt like they really cared about their food and what they do. The service. Phenomenal. Like I noted above, smiles. From the cooking line to the register, the employees are dedicated and excited about their food. They aren't just robots taking your order. I felt at home. To the food. I got an original pulled pork sandwich which exceeded expectations. It was perfectly cooked with care while getting to choose from many BBQ sauces. (Spicy kind is my fav). I also had the loaded potato salad which had great flavor and tasted like your grandmother's homemade salad. The atmosphere is very home like. Plenty of space with indoor and outdoor seating. A unique soda fountain with soda flavors that are rare and unique! 5 stars Sugarfire. That's a bold 5 stars. I highly recommend. read more

I've had 3 meals at the Winghaven location, and it's been every bit as good as the Olive location (unfortunately the line has been the same, too, but it's worth it!). The brisket Philly cheesesteak is unreal. The cheesy jalapeño grits are killer. The sauce selection is above average. Whatever that green sauce is that comes with the hush puppies is strangely addicting. It's definitely not Bogart's or Pappy's in the sense that it's less traditional, but it's every bit as good with more variety. It just depends on your mood. I love Sugarfire but this is not the best location. This was my first carry out order at any of the locations. First minor issue was after we placed our order, they called back immediately and asked for the entire order again. Ok, we all remembered it so no big deal. Everything was prepared when we got there and payment was smooth and friendly. Four of us ordered meat combos with sides. Unfortunately my order was incorrect, they sent potato salad instead of the pasta salad I ordered. I could have forgiven them if the potato salad wasn't so bland. It literally tasted like plain potatoes. But still, the brisket and ribs were great and the sweet potato hash side that I ordered was really good. My husband got ribs and brisket as well but when I saw his ribs I actually laughed out loud. They were 4 ribs from one of the ends of a rack and they were the tiniest things I had ever seen. This was the disadvantage of not being at the restaurant. Had they tried to serve that in person, I would have asked for another piece. Especially when the person next to you is getting much more for their money. We'll definitely end up at Sugarfire Winghaven again but hopefully in person so we can correct some of the issues from this visit. read more

I'm pretty sure they put crack in the meat. Yes, that is how good the flavor is and makes you want to keep on eating it even after your're about to vomit from eating so darn much. I've had the brisket and the pulled pork...both phenomenal. Also try the cornbread and the sides. Potato salad is great, dirty rice was amazing, mac n cheese is great, cornbread changes...this week it seems to be cornbread with Siracha and cilantro flavored...it was excellent with a kick! The guys behind the counter cutting the meat are no frills, no bs, get your stuff and move it along, but the ladies at the register are super sweet and dare I say....very attractive. I came here with my special needs wheelchair bound son. Ha has to stay in his wheelchair and there are only high top tables inside. I'm a burger guy, and so I thought I would try the double cheeseburger. MEH. Just OK, nothing exceptional, and waaaayyyyyy over-seasoned with salt and pepper. I think it was also grilled at such a high temp that the cheese melted almost completely off. My wife on the other hand had the brisket sandwich and it was outstanding. Sugarfire is only a short drive from my house and I've always heard really positive things about this BBQ joint. The thing is I'm not a huge fan of "traditional BBQ" and entrees like ribs, brisket, etc. don't excite me generally but they had plenty of nontraditional options to appease somebody like me, a few of the plates that caught my eye were the Big Muddy, the Chicken Biscuit and what I inevitable settled on, the Brisket Cheesesteak sandwich. Like I said I settled for the Brisket Cheesesteak, with that I ordered a drink and fries. The cheesesteak sandwich was excellent and came loaded with molten cheese already melted into the brisket and onions/peppers. Really well done! I also really liked the fact that they had a big variety of house-made sauces to choose from to dip my fries in (although they are generally meant for the sandwiches), I tried probably 6 of them, my favorites were the white BBQ sauce and the Carolina mustard. I also liked the fact that they had unique soda choices and didn't rely on your standard Coke/Pepsi products. Got here right when they open 11a on a Sunday. The special was burnt ends and they were so good! The mac nrac (mac and cheese with rib meat) and hand cut fries are amazing!
